How do you set up your system to compile servlets?

I can't compile my servlets. I need the javax.servlet packages. I went to java.sun.com/products/servlet but couldn't find the servlet SDK. Is it now all wrapped up in the J2EE SDK?
So I downloaded the J2EE beast and put j2ee.jar in my C:\JDK1.3\jre\lib\ext. Now I can compile my servlets fine from the command line. But now Tomcat doesn't work at all. Even when I try to run the servlets that are supplied in the examples with Tomcat, I get the following errors:

These errors disappear if I remove j2ee.jar
So, how shoudl I configure my system so taht I can run Tomcat and also compile my servlets from the command line ? Also, do I really have to keep restarting Tomcat each time I want to reload a servlet ?

To set up Tomcat, here's what I'd do.
1) Remove j2ee.jar from C:\JDK1.3\jre\lib\ext
That will cause more headaches than you can imagine.
2) Add servlet.jar to your classpath. Servlet.jar is located in lib under your tomcat directory. ( so, something like C:\jakarta-tomcat\lib\servlet.jar )
3) Make sure that you have your JAVA_HOME environment variable set to C:\JDK1.3. If this is not set up correctly then you will get the error: sun/tools/javac/Main not found...

My wife and I have one iMac we share (with two login accounts - so basically two computers), an iPad, and two iPhones. Since there are certain things we really like to share between accounts (PhotoStream, Find My iPhone, Documents/iCloud Drive), we've shared the same master iCloud account for the last few years. This has had some drawbacks with things we *don't* want to share, such as we now have to sync our Safari bookmarks, and our keychain/logins for personal websites sometimes overlap, or the "Recent Contacts" shows the last people my wife contacted, not mine, etc.
The pros have outweighed the cons, but it has always left me wanting.
And now that things have changed a bit with iOS 8 and iCloud Drive, Handoff, and Family Plan. I figured now would be a good time to revisit our setup and what would work best for our family. (Of course, this might be a bit premature, with the looming new Photos App from Apple coming, that might make us buy storage in iCloud, but if you have any forethoughts into that, I'd appreciate hearing them!)

You may wish to look at alternatives to sharing the items you've been sharing. For example, you could use shared streams instead of my photo stream, in many ways it might be better, that way you share selected items rather than everything. You really don't need to share Find my phone, you can still use find my phone to find a device associated with any account if you sign in with that account, if you want to see where someone is find friends is a much better choice. You can also share links to iWork documents using iCloud document by document.

How do you set up your Configuration Manager client when Imaging?

OK everyone we got an issue that we need to take care of sorry if this seems like a dumb question but we cant seem to make this work. How do you set your configuration manager client when you deploy your image(s)? I created package and pointed
it right to the config manager install directory just like the recommended one for USMT but it does not seem to work. I also tried to leave it blank but it appears to be mandatory.. So my question how do YOU get it to work for your areas?

that might be the problem I dont see a "Microsoft Configuration Manager Client 5.0 All" anywhere. We threw something together that points to:
\\Server.Domain.com\SCCM_Install\SMSSETUP\CLIENT
What is happening is this.

capture back to server
All it does is

How can you set up your subdomain pages in a subdirectory to show without the subdirectory name but the subdomain instead

I am trying to understand how I can set up a series of pages for each of several subdomains such that when you view that web page it shows on the subdomain without the subdirectory name. Essentially I suppose I am wanting to point the subdomain at a folder...
For example I have my main site with the domain mysite.com.au and have 3 subdomains sub1.mysite.com.au, sub2.mysite.com.au etc... I want to then store the pages relating to each subdomain in their own subdirectories /dir01, /dir02 and /dir03 or otherwise named as something appropriate.
What want is to I have the page page1.htm in each of these subdirectories such that I can view the page with the url "http://sub1.mysite.com.au/page1.htm" and have the url displayed as such once loaded rather than having to enter http://mysite.com.au/dir01/page1.htm
Is this a simple or complicated process to put in place?

1. Go to Preferences > Junk Mail and disable junk mail filtering.
2. Quit Mail, then open it again.
3. Go to Preferences > Junk Mail, enable junk mail filtering, and configure it however you wish -- I recommend you to leave it at the default Automatic settings.
4. Reset the junk filter database (Preferences > Junk Mail > Reset).

I have a phone password enabled so its not that, any help would be great.

The Passcode Lock prevents syncing the iPhone with iTunes or accessing any data on the iPhone when the iPhone is connected to another computer different from the computer being used for syncing the iPhone.

How would you set up your hard drives if you had these to work with

So I currently have :
1 internal 1 Tb 7200 HDD
1 internal 300gb 7200 HDD
This is all im using right now, but I also have a 3 TB external that I use to store media and also edit from. I was bringing the footage into the internal drives to edit from but space was growing thin.
I bought other drives to redo my entire hard drive set up while incorporating the old ones as well

2 250gb SSD (They are however not the same brand.)

How would YOU set up your disks?

I asked about this a year ago when I was first setting up my system (thanks Harm and everyone else who responded then), but there wasn't any clear consensus then and there have been a few threads touching on this since, so it seems there are more than a few people interested in this.
In my workstation I've got 7 x 1TB internal SATA drives (not counting the system drive, which is not even on the RAID controller). When first setting them up I couldn't decide whether the best performance could be achieved via a huge RAID, separate disks with one type of media on each, or some hybrid. I elected to go with one huge RAID5 with a hot spare, netting me about 5TB capacity, but I still keep wondering if assigning each media type to a separate drive might be faster as we could then be sure we're not trying to read and write to the same drive at any given time, nor would we ever be trying to get multiple media reads from the same disk at once.
Using CS3 with Cineform Aspect, but have ordered upgrades to both. Pretty tricked out system but I want to keep that part out of it and just focus on the disk setup, all else being equal. Have been pretty happy with disk throughput so far but am always wondering about that perfect balance of performance and stability. My intention in the next few weeks is to quadruple-boot system with XP 32, XP 64, Vista 64 and Win7 and try to do controlled experiments with each, so I want the OS to be the only variable.
Obviously I've read all the Adobe Help, articles and wiki material about this but would like opinions from those on this board. The Adobe material tells you what you CAN do but not what you SHOULD do...
One possible "hybrid" setup I am considering:
Captured video on 4-drive RAID 5 with hot spare (should give me about 2TB capacity)
Captured audio on drive 5
Previews and media cache on Drive 6
Output renders on drive 7
Or maybe I am just over-thinking this and performances differences will be insignificant.

Yes, I probably should have gone a little bit in to the type of video I mostly do, but I thought I should keep the experiment generic and theoretical. Nonetheless, I do mainly two types of projects, always in HDV with Cineform Aspect HD:
--Multicam edits of stage productions, which usually results in four one-hour long continuous clips edited in multicam mode. Very little effects applied; maybe a few titles and cross-dissolves, but that's about it. Some color correction is sometimes necessary. I generally break each act into its own project, and each scene gets its own sequence.
--Sports videos, which usually have close to a thousand clips (!) in the project panel and end up using perhaps 500 or so, very short shots, averaging about a second or two each. Some sequences involve multiple effects on each clip. These may be broken up into several sequences, each of which sometimes gets its own project. As you can imagine, with this many clips projects are pretty slow to load, even on a fast system, and as the sequences get more complex Premiere bogs down a lot. One five minute sequence consisting of a hundred or so shots, with motion, speed, opacity or color correction applied to every clip (sometimes more than one effect) takes about 90 minutes just to render a preview. That is, when it doesn't crash. I nearly always get an out-of-memory or other unexplained error and have to shut down, reboot, and render a section at a time. CFHD-AVI exports work fine, no crashing, but are time-consuming.
Harm, good suggestions. Right now I've got all 8 internal slots filled so adding an 8th disk may not be really practical. I probably should have reiterated that I have the system drive on channel 0, and the 7 workdrives on channels 1-7. I do have an external USB drive, but I use that only for archive and backup. Experimentally, my plan is pretty much what you outlined, except in reverse -- test the four OSes with my current config (which is all one big drive, but with spanned volumes due to the 2TB limitation in 32-bit OS) and then, based on the fastest OS, kill all the others and spend some time with different disk configs. A middle step will be to add 16 extra gigs of RAM for the 64-bit OSes after testing all 4 with my current 4 gigs, just to try to tease out any differences of OS alone vs. just the presence of extra RAM.
These are all great ideas. As before, it seems there are as many ways to do this as there are users. Sometimes there is just too much choice.

How can you set up your iphone 4s to show 2 seperate email address but that are on the same domain

I have 2 email address linked to me on Outlook. one is a personal one for me and one is a group email address but both on the same domain.
I have my own inbox set up on my iphone and i have tried to set up the group email address on my iphone, but because the credentials are the same, it is only bringing through my emails and not the one for the seperate email address - is there a way round this?

What do you mean "the credentials are the same"? The part of the email address before the @ should be different. If not then you do not have two different email addresses.
Just go into the mail settings and choose add account. Enter the info for the second account. It won't matter that your incoming and outgoing smtp server are the same. If it did how could millions of people all use Yahoo or Google?
If what you really have is one email account with a rule set to send specific emails to another folder, someone else will have to help you.

here's little sugestion from me allow sort off split screen option on 1 side one remote and on another side another remote with seperate scrolling perhaps.
or tiny area dedicated to just program and volume buttons that can switch while having main remote on having tiny volume remote in tiny area on screen from any remote you choose like amplifier.
anyway maybe this is already possible anyway.

Just tested works fine can even hit both power buttons at same time will power on my tv and amp at same time no problem.

You need an Apple TV to do this. If you have one, play a video on your iPhone. Next to the three control buttons will be an icon that looks like a rectangle with a solid triangle in front of it (kind of like an upside-down envelope). Press it. The video will play on your TV. You can do this with videos and many games, as well as your music. For games and music:
Press the home button twice to get the app tray to appear
Swipe the tray all the way to the left to where you see the music icon and controls.
Besides the play controls and music icon there will be another icon that looks kind of like an upside-down envelope. Press it. The video will start playing over the Apple TV.

We have been gradually using Adobe Illustrator CS6 in a team environment and, after having files on the server, found that we were stepping on one another i.e. losing work. The forum explained the pro's and con's of this arrangement; Adobe drive seemed to be the answer. However, there are constraints with this. The terms hyper-V and alfresco have come up, and getting the two to work is in question. Certainly there are companies out there who are using Illustrator in a team environment and I was wondering how you do it. Thanks so much.

What are the first steps you do when you install a new version of PSE10? I had some settings on my PC (already deleted it and could maneuver around, but I can't figure out how to do this on my MAC - HELP!!!
I am trying to import elements/photos into my projects, and used to be able to open a window and drag it into the project. I found out I can drag it into my project bin, but not directly onto my project workspace, and then into my project or can I?? Does it have to do with setting up cascading my files, or anything like that?
I am also having a hard time trying to resize my elements. Keep getting a message that I cannot do anything because pixels are not selected (something to that effect) I can resize right after I put the element into the project, but it seems I cannot go back to it (there are no 'dotted' lines around it anymore) and I get that message.
Also when I pull anything into my project it goes to the top toolbar in my project. I'm very frustrated with this all!!!

Sorry you're having trouble. When you say "import" do you mean you want to put things into the organizer or just open them in the editor (for future reference, opening a photo isn't importing it)?
Where are you dragging from? If you're dragging from the desktop, in recent mac versions you can drag an image into the main workspace only if there isn't a photo already open in the editor. That's just how adobe did it.
Also when I pull anything into my project it goes to the top toolbar in my project.

Right, so I got a new Iphone 4 and it was bouught unlocked from apple. My iphone sim is O2 and i had to switch my number over to this because i thave a contract. I have put the new sim in the phone, restarted it and connected it to itunes. When i sonnect it to itunes it says " The SIM card inserted in this Iphone does not appear to be supported." Then there is a whole paragraph about compatible sims... so when you pop the sim out it says no SIM card installed, Insert a valid Sim with no PIN lock to activate iPhone. So I went to the O2 store and they changed my SIM and the whole thing isn't any different. If anyone else has a clue please help me, I'm aweful with technology!

Look at your receipt. If it says "unlocked" it is an unlocked phone. If it doesn't activate call or visit the store where you bought it. If it was sold as unlocked there should be no waiting period.
You can try connecting it to iTunes and clicking the "Restore" button on the Summary screen. If it wasn't unlocked in the store, but is authorized to be unlocked, that will unlock it. You should get a message after the restore that says "Congratulations, you phone is unlocked!" When connecting be sure to use a USB port directly on the computer, not a hub.

How do you set up your spam filter?

I have been fiddling with my spam filter for some time now and I still can't get it to work really good. I use the normal "Exempt if sender is in addressbook & Sender is in previous recipient but NOT "using my full name" because that seems to put everything in spam. I use the toggle "IF ALL CONDITIONS ARE MET". I also add the line "if message is junk mail" then move to trash.
The above does work but not real great.
Furthermore, I made up some more rules such as subject lines contain doctor etc and they work better.
Can someone post what they do in their basic junk mail filtering and custom rules to help me out? Also, when a piece of junk mail ends up by mistake in the junkmail box I click "not junkmail". This never returns the mail to the correct box and just sits there and I have to manually drag it. Is this correct?

I have a PC under my TV. It has all the media for the house. What's the best way to get :

Is there a standard way?

What I did was make a public Samba and NFS share (default for NFS is /export). In there I have one public writeable folder /export/public, all others are read-only, owned by root. When I copy new stuff into public I later move it to a read-only directory. This works quite well.
In your case I would set up a seperate user for each service and give them a private directory to write to. To my knowledge, only rtorrent will need write access.
I don't work with all services listed above, but it should be trivial to configure them to read from a central store location.
