How fast is Java?
I am current having a linkedlist of objects(I have to use linkedlist), I populated with 51000 objects inside. These objects have one string in each and each string is small in size and there is no duplicates.
Now I run through this list to search for one string, let's say "XXXxxxXXX". This string, in worst case, is now being placed at the bottom of the list. Now, I run through 51000 objects to do a string compare and this little program doesn't even have GUI. It runs in 7 seconds.
I just wonder why it takes so long? my coworker told me that it takes < 7ms to finish this in a PLC. Any idea that I can make this Java program shorter in second? Here is my code:

I am actually writing a program that my coworker's 20 PLCs send signals to my program and my program spawns threads to take care of all requests. Requests are as simple as a string that is asking if the previous PLC has done its job. We are going to use DB to search for the record, as long as the record is inserted there, that PLC knows its previous PLC has done its job so the second one can start its job.
However, DB takes too long to search especially when you need to re-index it all the time and PLC needs response in 50ms. So I wonder at least if I could take it down to 0.5 second, that should be still possible to take it down more or possibly using jni. Why I don't go for C then? because Java's built-in threading capability is a wonderful product that I should make sure of. Of course if I could make it in pure Java, it would be great because we won't know what platform we will deploy this Java program on.
So any idea? even if you say assembly language would be fine for me, but please provide me details on it because I am just a beginner. Thanks.

computes when the image is created?Considering Image is abstract and there's nothing in the contract about performance requirements nobody can answer this. It depends on the implementation. Generally, it's going to return very quickly and isn't going to require any kind of analysis at runtime.

How fast is findByKey and View Links

I'm developing an application in which I'll have two very populated View Objects (one with ~1000 and other with ~13000). My code will pick up one row in the first view object and it will search the related rows in the second view object.
I have some questions about this operation:
1. Should I implement it by calling findByKey in the second View Object or View Links between them?
2. How fast is findBykey? O(n) or something better? And about the View Link, does it execute a SQL query or does it solve by comparison between Java objects?

The AirPort Express has a 100 Mbps Ethernet WAN port, which would connect to a modem. Your download speed will depend on the Internet service plan that you have with your provider.
If you really do have a 100 Mbps download plan with your provider, you could probably expect about 85 Mbps because some speed is always lost in the routing process.

Thanks.This depends on the version of your Netweaver Java AS. If you are running 7.0, you will have to use the Jco framework. The Jco framework is deprecated since 7.1 though. If you want to build a RFC server in 7.1 or higher, it is adviced that you set it up through JRA.

You can set these values in CommEnv.sh (.cmd for windows) file located in the weblogic_home/common/bin directory.
This gets applied to all the domains under that wls home.
If you want to make the changes to specific domain then edit the SetDomainEnv.sh file located under the domain/bin directory.

Just read "Best of Macworld" article "How to disable Java on your Mac," in email dated 2/25/13. I'm a dinosaur running OS 10.4.11 and Java 1.5.0_19, which is earlier than the versions addressed in the article. Do I remove/isolate in the same manner? Will the effects of removal/isolation the same as described in the article?

Safari>Preferences>Security>uncheck/Disable Java in your Browser settings, not JavaScript. -

How to access java method in JSP

I need to access java class (abstract portal component) method doContent() in a JSP which is under PORTAL-INF/jsp folder.
I did

<%com.mycompany.Aclass a = new com.mycompany.Aclass (); %>
Aclass is coming as autofill/prepopulated with cntrl+space
Till this time, it is working. no errors. But when I do
a.
a. (a dot) no methods are populating (autofill..cntrl+space) or If I forcebly add method a.doContent(req,res)... at runtime its giving error.
It's not only with doContent method... Its with any simple methods in that class or any other class.
(Other than doContent method in the APC java class are prepopulating/autofilling but giving error in runtime)
Can anyone help me... how to access java method in JSP.
I already gone through many SDN forum post... and implemented too---but no use I refered below forum thread

How to use java to access those functions???
I know there are some classes which can be used to access function in
DLL file e.g. JAWIN.
Is the .tlb file related to one DLL file??? if so, how to locate the
DLL file through .tlb file???
