I just also tried to bind the VALIDFROM and VALIDUNTIL properties to some input fields within a form of the form builder, but it seems to be a question of the right timestamp format (which I don't know). Every time I try to put in some values, they are not accepted and the fields are rendered in red...

How do we build MAR file using jdeveloper ojdeploy
Hi,
I have to package the set of files as Mar file using jdeveloper ojdeploy tool.
For that I create the new deployment profile (ess-meta) of MAR file archive type and selected all the required files for Metadata File Group.
I am getting below error on running with below command.
Please can any help me to build the MAR file using ojdeveloy.

SureshMAR profile can not be deployed directly using either Jdeveloper/ojdeploy. Please include the MAR profile in a EAR profile and deploy that instead.

i just want to check out how the forms Builder work and if i can use it for some little things in our Portal.. so i wanna try the SAP Demo News....
So i think i check how it works.. but i have only one question.. where in the Forms Builder in SAP Demo News is specified where the news are saved when i write one?
So the Standart Path is: \documents\News
So what is if i want to change the path to: \Documents\xyz
Where in the Form i have to specifie this?

You can pass the path as parameter (post/path=) to the url.
For example

Also change the configuration of km folder to your new folder. This will alow to edit the news directly from km folder.
Go to System administration -> System configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Content Management -> Form Based Publishing -> forms availability.
Creat an id with the following properties - the folder path within which the form has to appear for e.g., /documents/News and under the Forms to Include - Mention the XML forms to be included.

Forms Builder 6i: Calculated Item-value into DB
Hi all,
I am a Newbie in Forms and have got a problem:
Through a Forms App I want to fill a table in my database. The Form and the table both exist already. One of the Items in my Form is a calculated item, that is calculated with a formula of the values of two other items.
My question is how is it possible to get the calculated value into my table. The only hint I've got is to use WHEN-VALIDATE-ITEM, but I don't know anything about the rest to do...Will somebody help me?

Heikemake the calculated item based on the database column you want it to insert the value into.
If this is not possible have a hidden item based on that column and copy the value from the calculated item into this hidden Item. (you can probably use mirror item for this). -
How to populate List Item from the table in a form builder
I want to know how to populate the List Item (pop up menu and combo box) from a table.
Supposing I have a table Customer(cust_id,cust_name)
and now I want to populate it in such a manner that I can update the data back to the database and also access the list on the form.This is the method i am using to populate a list.
1- First of all you need to create a non-database list item for customer_name.

Dedy P.T.What do you mean by insert ... from Forms Builder? Do you mean you want to add it as text in a string of pl/sql code or as part of boiler plate text (label) or a value on the Property Palette?
For special characters you would need set NLS_LANG to something that would support the characters you want to use. For the Builder to see the change, you would need to set NLS_LANG to something like:
NLS_LANG=AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8
This can be done in the Windows Registry or system. As I mentioned, this will only apply to the Builder and will have nothing to do with a running form. For running forms you would need to set this in default.env. As for things like super and sub scripts, these are font formats and not necessarily characters. For the most part, I don't believe these are supported in Forms. -
Hierarchical Tree Items question, in Oracle9i forms builder ^^;
Hi,I'm kind of new to using the Hierachical Tree item in Oracle9i Forms builder. so anyway,in the book it was explaining how it's done clearly,but, what I want to do using that item is kind of different;
in the book it has the way of making it like a navigator for the items/fields/tables in the database,either by creating a view for those fields by using Select Statements or using the whole table itself.
however,what I'm trying to do is to have that tree list the names of Forms I have already created and probably the list of Reports I got,so it would sort of like a Menu and I could add a trigger to open the form/report once an item in the tree is double clicked on

END next_menu;tree_item contains the name of the tree item you are using. the select statement is based on a table that is like EMP, where one EMP van be another EMP's manager. In this table a menu-option can be another menu-option's master.
this is a recursive function that keeps calling itself untill the query finds no more record.

Can you calculate multiple text boxes to achieve a total value? If so how is that done? I am trying to create a order form where multiple items can be purchased but i would like the values of each item to calculate so I can achieve a total value.

How do I make my form (list/menu) items open in the same window (self).
Hello, the kind, brilliant people on this forum have always been able to help me in the past, so I thought I'd give it a try today. Items in a form (list/menu) that I've created are opening in a blank window (pop-up) when clicked. I would like them to open in "self" mode so that pop up blockers on various computers don't become a challenge for site visitors. Can anyone please tell me how I could make that adjustment? I selected the entire form "red dotted line" around the list and changed the "target" in the properties menu to "self". Then I selected everything on the page and still not correct. I am inserting the code below. Any assistance to get me on the right track would be GREATLY appreciated!! BTW I also made the form a library item (just in case that fact is needed). </form>Looks like it still isn't working. When I removed those items the drop down menu stopped working as well. I went ahead and posted yours as the correct answer. I'm convinced it's my skill level. i'm gonna do some javascript searches to see where the js code should go, it's very confusing to me. Thanks a lot!In the Attributes of a screen field, there is an attribute called "Groups". This has 4 options for input (4 text boxes)
SCREEN has 4 fields GROUP1, GROUP2, GROUP3 and GROUP4.
The first text box under Groups attribute corresponds to SCREEN-GROUP1,
2nd text box for SCREEN-GROUP2
3rd text box for SCREEN-GROUP3
4th text box for SCREEN-GROUP4

How to validate multiple lines which is exist in the form builder at the same session
Hi All,
we are working on oracle Forms personalization to trigger the message at the point of saving multiple lines rather than requiring each line to be save individually. Currently the oracle form is allowing to user to enter two distinct lines that have same resource and basis type in BOM.
Currently the Oracle form is allowing to enter the duplicate combination and not giving any error message even we enter the same combination of data.
As per the customer requirement, they don’t want to validate the data while creating the records but when they try to save the form, in that case it should validate all the records at a time then need to display the appropriate message.
Customer don’t want to customize the Oracle standard form. Here we have only option to use form personalization or through custom.pll.
Any idea on how to validate multiple lines which is exist in the form builder at the same session as before inserting the record itself need to perform the validations for all the records.

Thirupathiyou can write a post script which will do the necessary tasks.
I mean, once you are done with inserting records into these tables, exeute another procedure which will insert these "extra" records, based on some logic.
you may not be able use DB trigger as it may generate mutating error or if you don't write it carefully, it will go into recursive loops as you are refering to same tables.
