Two 2008 R2 servers. Been running DFS-R for about a year now. Generally no problems.
If I run the DFSRdiag backlog command on either server, for one particular folder, it says there is no backlog. The only problem with that is; on one server there are 11 files in that folder, on the other server, in the same folder, there are
15 files. How is this even possible!

DW is open I can then change the screen res, but reinstalling

problem posted
once. I can't imagine what might be causing this, but I'd

How is what possible? I see two copies going on. That one is delayed by the other is not unusual. Especially if they're accessing the same drive for either the read, or the write. Even more so if it's both.
The drive sharing work between two separate copy procedures can't do both at once at full speed. When the bottom copy is done, the upper function will speed up as it no longer has to share the CPU time, or the drive's.

My Firefox history is shortened to a few entries for the last months, weeks, days. How is this even possible?

If a large amount of history items were removed then this is either caused by deleting those entries manually or with a problem with the places.sqlite database file.
Also make sure not to use Clear Recent History.
Is a specific (month) range gone or are only specific entries missing possible from the same server?
Problems with bookmarks and history not working properly can be caused by a corrupted places.sqlite database file.
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.

Photoshop Elements 11 boxed software installed once in Dec. 2012 won't install on new computer. Disk can't be read (tested on 3 different computers). How is that even possible of a meticulously clean, well-protected disk?

I need your help!
On December 12th, 2012 I ordered (purchased) by mail an official copy of the boxed Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 software from B&H Photo (New York, NY). I installed it successfully without any problem on my then computer. I have enjoyed using the program since then, it’s great. This past week, however, that same computer died and I was force to buy a new computer (Windows 8.1).
To my big surprise, the Elements disk wouldn’t load off my DVD drive. The drive just kept “clicking” for 20 minutes. After trying several times from reboot, for an hour and a half, I then tried installing it on my laptop, just to see if my drive was faulty. No, it wasn’t. It too immediately went into an endless “clicking” routine trying to read the disk. And for one last try, I put it in my sister’s laptop and she got the very same result - endless “clicking”, no install. No computer could read the disk!!!
How is this even possible from a commercially made disk I used only once in 2012! The disk is meticulously clean, unscratched, unscuffed, put away in its original box and stored on my shelf in a cool place away from the sun!

Is there anything you can do about this as I see no reason why I should be forced to spend over a $130 (in Canada) to replace a disk that worked only once!

We are currently have a solution that allows us to use a campus RADIUS
server as the authentication mechanism for accessing the Internet. We want
to integrate this so users can authenticate with their campus IDs but gain
access to the Novell server (home directory and printing) using the same
information.
Is this even possible?
So, essentially, we would like the external RADIUS' user/password data to
be synced with the eDirectory data, but have the eDirectory receive updates
from the RADIUS (or LDAP, Kerberos or whatever system is necessary). Or is
an all-Novell solution the only possible way to use RADIUS authentication?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

As jim said, you can use idm to do this, but another option for you
might be to use somthing like freeradius and point it back to
edirectory as its authentication source.

Hello, I mentioned this several months back but it seems things have changed a bit since then...
Here is an image of where I live:
The green marker is the exchange.
The red marker is where I live.
The blue markers are two friends I know who live in a nearby village.
As you can see I live about 4 times closer to the exchange than both my friends. We all connect to this exchange and therefore our phone lines must travel the same direction and past the same obstructions/obstacles.
Heres the problem...
Our internet connects at about 2.8MBPS - 3MBPS giving us an average download speed of about 250kb/s
One of my friends has a download speed of ~500kb/s and the other ~600kb/s....
How is this even remotely possible that they can live 4 times further from the exchange yet get double my speeds? What can I do to get this fixed? Clearly BT have screwed up the route my phone line takes...

Hence when the other day my mate says he's downloading a demo at 600kb/s I was gob-smacked. His line attenuation is lower than mine, I cant remember off the top of my head what he said but it was around the 50 mark so 8 less than mine. Either way his line attenuation (according to kitz calculator) implies a line length of 3.6KM so about 600m shorter than mine. YET he lives four times further away...
Not a lot you can do then as your line must be doing a load of laps before getting to your property.
One of my brothers has a simialr problem (lives a few hundred meters from me) and can only get 1mbit down and 448kbps up. His line does a few laps of the area whereas mine is a direct underground cable.

The first thing that I always do when I have issues syncing is quit iTunes, restart my Mac and reboot my device.
Reboot your device by holding down on the sleep and power buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen and then let go of the buttons.

I recently bought a new iMac as well as a wireless time capsule and have it connected how can I use this external drive as the location to store all my files for iTunes, or is this even possible?

New iMac user here, I recently bought a new iMac and Time capsule and have the whole network up and running now. I have connected another external HD to the time capsule as well and have a total of 3 TB of storage connected wireless to my new iMac. My question is can I use this location as the default location for iTunes? I doubt I am gonna run out of room considering the iMac has 1 TB of storage already, but I'd prefer to keep my movies and music off the Mac to keep it running smoothly. If this is possibly, I'd like to do this with iPhoto as well.

I would advise against placing your iTunes library on a Time Capsule.
The Time Capsule is designed as a backup device and not for wireless streaming of video.
Before you do anything more, can I suggest you put into place a reliable, redundant backup strategy.
Unless you are prepared to risk loss of your iTunes library due to a hard drive failure, I would not put iTunes on the Time Capsule.
Leave your iTunes library on your iMac until such time as your internal drive is full. Backup to Time Capsule using Time Machine and create a clone of your internal iMac HD to your external drive.
That's my 2 cents worth. Others may have a different opinion.

I want to select multiple cells and either in the same table, group their total together to be displayed on a chart, or put the sum of those cells into another table where I can then create a chart. I need to create multiple groups within one table.

Hi Umdterp and welcome to the forums.
This is very possible and there really are many many ways to do it. It depends on how you’ve laid your groups out. Let me suggest three possible ways as a start.
1) The easiest way is to lay your list out so that you have a different column for every group. Put the names of the groups in the header row. As you go down your list enter your values in the appropriate column based on the group. In your footer row you then total each of the columns and use the results of your footer row to form your chart.
An example of the formula in your footer cell would be: =SUM(C)
2) The second way is a little more random. In a second table click in a row where you will place your first groups total.
Type =SUM(
then if you hold down the apple key you can click non adjacent cells in your first table close the parentheses and you have your total.
Example =SUM(C5,D2,F7)
Rinse and Repeat.
3) The third was is to set up your list with at least two columns where, for example, Column B is the group name and the value is in Column C.
For the sake of this example I’ve listed values in Cells B2-B7.
Lets say you have three groups, Red, Green and Blue.
You can use SUMIF to total all items in C that are listed Red in B as follows:
=SUMIF(B2:B7,"red",C2:C7)
the first B2-B7 is where it looks
the “red” is what it looks for
the C2:C7 is what it adds.
You could put this formula in the same or different table it’s up to you.
