How Manage MySQL Databases on Leopard Server?

How can i work with MySQL
I like to setup a Wordpresspage.
What do i need to manage the Database for that case?
I am a beginer!
Thx in advance

Start by reading through the [Installing Wordpress|http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress] (specifically the section Using the MySQL Client) and also read through the [backup up MySQL|http://codex.wordpress.org/BackingUp_YourDatabase] codex. (MySQL is reasonably similar across the platforms and installations.)
The other piece of this whole process is to make sure your Wordpress installation stays current, and that you keep current archives on your site should you need to recover from a successful breach. Web sites based on Wordpress (and most any content management system in general) are popular targets for security attacks.
And welcome to the forums.

Many thanks, but where do keep /mysql?
That can go anywhere, you just have to find it so you can run the mysql client.

  • How do I reinstall Snow Leopard Server on a Mac Mini Server 2010?

How do I reinstall Snow Leopard Server on a Mac Mini Server 2010? I have already attached a Mac Superdrive and tried to download, but the buttons at the bottom of the dialog screen are greyed out.

Not sure where you're getting tangled here or how much you know about OS X Server 10.6, so...
AFAIK, Snow Leopard Server wasm't available as a download, it was a separate DVD distribution.
Unlike more recent versions of OS X Server, the 10.6 server distributions were usually standalone DVD disks, as well.
(There is a slight wrinkle if your Mac needs a newer version of 10.6 than your server distribution; there was a different streaming upgrade process for that.  IIRC, the appropriate OS X client version was installed first, then you booted that client version and loaded the DVD and installed OS X Server.)
But if you have a Snow Leopard Server distribution that supports your particular Mac Mini model, then boot the DVD, use Disk Utility from the Utilities menu in the bootable DVD environment, wipe the disk, and then install OS X Server.
You'll need a 10.6 license key, if you don't already have that.
FWIW, here are the available manuals.

  • How to install a Business Contact Manager 2013 database on SQL Server 2014

When I use the BCM Database Tool 2013 to create a database on a server, it doesn't pick up on any of my SQL Server 2014 instances. So far I can only get it to pick up SQL Server 2008 R2 instances in order to install the BCM database.
Someone  mentioned that it works with SQL Server 2012, so is there any way to get it work on the 2014 version? I don't want to have to install 2008 or 2012 just for the sake of BCM.

  • How to connect to a MySQL database in another server

    Dear friends,
I am using Oracle SQL Developer 1.5.3 and I need to connect to a MySQL database located in another server.
I am trying to create a new connection, informing connection name, username and password. Supposing that "Hostname" is the IP server address, I click on "Choose database", but I always receive the following error message: "Status : Failure - Cannot connect to MySQL server".
Please tell me what I should do to solve this situation. Thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    Franklin

You need to configure your mysql database to accept connection from your PC for the user you used.
    For example,
    GRANT ALL ON *.* TO 'someuser'@'somehost';
    FLUSH PRIVILEGES;

  • Upgrade MySQL in Snow Leopard Server

Hi all. This is my first post.
I have a Mac Mini Server with Mac OS X Server 10.6.8 (aka. Snow Leopard Server)
wanted to update the native MySQL. I followed these instructions
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4006
Now I know that it is parallel installation of MySQL.
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/15535136#15535136
    Finally,I installed MySQL 5.5.15 from MySQL.com (x86 dmg file)
Now I have three MySQL servers in the system. Runs only the oldest (native 5.0.92)
    I want to:
    1) Remove unnecessary MySQL servers.
    2) I would like to MySQL service could be run in the Server Admin.app. If this is not possible to run the “MySQL Preference Pane” in System Preferences.
If this is not possible then I would be able to run in "MySQL Preference Pane" in System Preferences.
Working with AS is probably possible.http://www.jamesbantz.com/2010/08/08/upgrading-mysql-on-mac-os-x-10-6-snow-leopa rd-server/#more-172 (See step 6)
Now I have a “little problem” with the distinction which files belong which MySQL.
    Please help
    Thanks

    Welcome to the forums.
The cited Apple directions in HT4006 are for adding headers and client components for Mac OS X Server for MySQL, and not particularly for upgrading MySQL on Mac OS X Server.  (That may well cause problems.)
How good are your pre-installation backups?  I'd roll those in, and undo the HT4006 changes, and (if you're not going to scratch this whole upgrade) follow what Mr Bantz describes in his posting.
Irrespective of the particular path followed here, you do also still get to "own" all of these changes, including the on-going maintenance and upgrades, which means that you own any security problems, the inevitable software upgrades and updates, and whatever other fixes might be needed.
Alternatively, consider moving to Mac OS X Server Lion (10.7), as it does not contain MySQL, so you can load whatever MySQL you want and (so long as you keep it from getting tangled with PostgreSQL) you're good to go.
I would not generally expect to be able to use Server Admin or the other tools to use or manage your local MySQL.  The Server Admin tools are not set up for these sorts of changes and have a history of getting tangled when the underlying servers are changed.   If you do manage this goal and do have Server Admin working and whether following Mr Bantz's directions or via some other means, then your changes still might not survive any particular future Mac OS X Server upgrade, or Server Tools upgrade.  (Which means you'll have to debug and rework the changes, or find somebody that has figured out what broken and follow those instructions.)
If you discover you have the need for these sorts of upgrades often, I'd suggest loading and using Linux or one of the BSDs.  Installing newer versions of stuff means more work and sometimes far more work, and tends to un-do what Apple provides, and tends to cause problems like you've encountered here.  In all seriousness, Linux or BSD is the platform you'll want, if you find yourself tweaking; they're set up for exactly this sort of tweaking.  Mac OS X and Mac OS X Server aims at a different market.

  • How Migrate MySql Database to Oracle

    Hi...
I like Migrate MySql Database to Oracle, can help me?
    Alexandre

I am trying to migrate a MySql to an Oracle database. I have not had any problem setting up the migration workbench.
What I am having a problem with is copying the source database to the Oracle DB - I have verified that the host name is correct - and the MySql is at the default 3306 port number.
What my problem is that the root user on the Linux server is not the user with DBA priviliges - instead a user called admin is the user on the linux box that has DBA priviliges.
Is my only way around trying to get the root user assigned DBA priviliges in order for this extract to succesfully happen - and if so, how do I go about assigining DBA priviliges on the MySql database to the root user?
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • How to sync to Snow Leopard Server wiki group calendar

I'm running the Mac Mini Snow Leopard Server in our law office of 8 attorneys.  We all use PC's with Outlook 2010.  We don't have Microsoft Exchange Server, and we bought the Snow Leopard Server because of its advertisement that you could achieve the same results on it as on Exchange Server, but without the cost.  SOUNDS LIKE-------OH WELL.  We want to be able to see everyone's calendar events on 1 calendar if possible.  I setup a Group Wiki for the group "Attorneys".  When I open that wiki, I've set it to be accessible by all attorneys in the group.  When the attorneys accounts were setup in Workgroup Manager, the Attorneys group was also setup, and they have access to the group.  I've been trying to figure out how to do this, and the result that seems to come closest is the Wiki Attorneys Group Calendar.  I have setup separate calendars in it for each attorney.  And so you can see them all on one screen, or deselect and only see the calendars you want.  Now the problem is how do I get the existing events off of Outlook 2010 on each machine and into the respective calendars in the Group Wiki, and also update that calendar as events change on each attorney's Outlook calendar?  If there is some better way to do this I'm certainly open for suggestions.  I don't believe that you can "sync" the iCal client calendar with the Wiki Calendar.  If you can that might also be a solution.  Thanks.

Luckily, I wasn't asked to purchase the 'Server' when I upgraded from SLS to Mountain Lion via the AppStore. I think your particular problem was mentioned in some other posts where the upgrade path to Lion became an infinite loop (hmmm... ). But that's all in the past now. Glad it all worked.

  • Cleaning VM Manager MySQL Database

    Hi,
I am looking to clean a server pool completely and recreate it after some issues with heartbeating caused by a network fault caused all sorts of heartbeat / config problems. Have been working through a fix with Oracle support and have cleaned all VM servers in the pool.
The next step as advised by support is to clean the vm database using the the ovm_upgrade.sh script:
    sh ./ovm_upgrade.sh dbuser=<user> dbpass=<passwd> dbhost=<hostname> dbport=1521 dbsid=<sid> deletedb
This fails when i run it with message:
"2013-03-20 09:24:34,847 ERROR Failed to connect to Database! Error: **
java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException: String index out of range: 14137"
The dbport number provided hints that this script is for an Oracle database which may be what is causing the error. Does anyone have any advice on cleaning the Oracle VM Manager db when using a mysql database?
We are running Oracle VM manager 3.2.1 on Scientific Linux release 6.3 (Carbon) x86_64.
    Thanks,

Fixed. I think it was a problem related to the hostname.

  • How do I uninstall Snow Leopard Server, so that I can revert back to Snow Leopard?

I was experimenting with the Snow Leopard Server DVD on my MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard.  I started the installation process, expecting that it would not install on the Startup Disk, as I had not booted from the DVD.
    To my surprise it installed!
How do I "uninstall" or revert back to Snow Leopard, without have to take such drastic steps that I would lose all of my Snow Leopard System folder contents (such as doing a wipe and starting over with a fresh Snow Leopard install)? Thank you.

I assume by "back up your data" you mean a Time Machine backup?
    Preferably, yes.
I have a BootCamp partition to run Windows; does Time Machine back that up, too?
No, but it won't be affected unless something goes wrong. You still need to back it up, of course, just like all other data.

  • MySQL version on Leopard Server?

On my default install of Leopard Server (Mac Pro, version 10.5.2) MySQL is showing this version:
14.12 Distrib 5.0.45, for apple-darwin9.0 (powerpc) using EditLine wrapper
Why "powerpc"? Shouldn't that be an x86 version? Is that right?

This appears to only be an old string referring to the build options. If you run the application, go to Activity Monitor and expose the Type column, you should in fact see that it's a 64-bit native Intel application.

  • Migrating MySQL database to new server

I'm rebuilding a server for a client and I need to migrate the MySQL database off of the old server onto the new. I'm going from Server 10.5.4 to Server 10.5.4. I tried just taring the old database location at /var/mysql and untaring it to the new server at the same location and started the MySQL service, but it service won't start properly.
I get an error in the MySQL Admin Log file that says that the "MySQL daemon startup timed-out"
After looking at the database files, they appear to have the old server name included in their names, and there is a pid file that is specific to the server.
Is there a process for exporting/importing the MySQL databases so I can get them installed on the new server?
    Thanks.

So I'll reply to my own question so the answer is documented.
I used the following command it export all the database from the old server:
    mysqldump -u username -ppassword --all-databases > alldump.sql
username is the name of the admin user, usually root
password is the admin password, make sure there is no space between the -p and the password. So if the password is "twit" the option is -ptwit
And the two -- are needed in the --all-databases option
Copy the alldump.sql file to the new server and run the following command to import all the databases:
    mysql -u username -ppassword < alldump.sql
Be sure to set the admin password in Server Admin and start the MySQL service before importing.
    That's it.

  • How do I upgrade Snow Leopard Server to Mountain Lion (client)?

I have a Mac Mini Server edition (2010) with Snow Leopard Server (10.6.8) pre-installed. I don't like the interface of Server edition because 1) I don't need the server functions and 2) I prefer client OS's easier (less powerful I know) interface to do sharing, logging in, configuring.... etc.
(I know I should've bought the non-server version with a DVD drive but I can't take it back now.)
My question is, what's the easiest way of changing it to a 'client OS', preferably to the latest Mountain Lion? From forum posts it seems downgrading from 'server' to 'client' will definitely require a fresh install.  That's fine. I can move all my personal files to the second HDD in the Mini and do a fresh install of OS on the first HDD.
I can see 'Mountain Lion' upgrade in the App Store, but it doesn't say if it's server or client. I am assuming it's a server upgrade?? What will happen if I purchase it for £13.99 in App Store? Or is there an alternative way?
I have a USB Apple optical drive. I have a USB thumbdrive too for storing the OS image if required. Thank you. Any tips will be appreciated.
