How Migrate MySql Database to Oracle

Hi...
I like Migrate MySql Database to Oracle, can help me?
Alexandre

I am trying to migrate a MySql to an Oracle database. I have not had any problem setting up the migration workbench.
What I am having a problem with is copying the source database to the Oracle DB - I have verified that the host name is correct - and the MySql is at the default 3306 port number.
What my problem is that the root user on the Linux server is not the user with DBA priviliges - instead a user called admin is the user on the linux box that has DBA priviliges.
Is my only way around trying to get the root user assigned DBA priviliges in order for this extract to succesfully happen - and if so, how do I go about assigining DBA priviliges on the MySql database to the root user?
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

    Selva,
    The link for plugins is: http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/migration/workbench/index.html. You can find DB2 plugins at the bottom of the page.
    Regarding the migration procedure, you can start by reading this document:

  • How to migrate Postgres database to Oracle?

    Hi Experts,
    Please guide me to migrate Postgres database to Oracle. Postgres database version is 9.2 and it is in Linux server.
    can I  use Oracle SQL Developer migration tool  for migrating from Postgres to Oracle?
    Please give valuable suggestions.
    Regrads,
    Suresh.

    As per earlier threads, Oracle SQL developer doesn't support Postgres to Oracle migration hence you need to go for some other tool/approach as listed in my second reply.
    such cross RDBMS migrations are done in 2 phases.
    Phase 1- Code migration
    Phase 2- data migration
    In phase 1, you work on DDL conversion for all objects like- tables, views, triggers, procedures, packages, Mviews, in-built function conversion etc. This becomes complex when there is lot of code present since in many cases, you have to re-write the code to make it work in target RDBMS.
    in phase 2, it is about migration of table data from source to target. It can be done by simply dumping the table data in CSV format and then using SQL loader kind of tool to load it.
    You can also use replication tools like- Oracle Golden Gate and other tools available in market.

  • Accessing mysql database from oracle using dg4odbc

    I've been trying to create a database link from a MySQL database to Oracle using the Oracle dg4odbc gateway. I downloaded and installed DataDirect's ODBC package which includes mysql ODBC library (ddmysql24.so) and a generic ODBC libary (libodbc.so). After creating the DSN in odbc.ini, I tested it and it can connect to the mysql database. Then I created the init{SID}.ora file in hs/admin directory, added dg4odbc lines in the listener.ora, and added lines in tnsnames.ora. Then I tnspinged the new SID with success. Finally, I created the database link. However, when I tried to access the database link using the commands "select * from mdl_user@moodle;", I got the ORA-28500 error like the following:
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:
    [DataDirect][ODBC 20101 driver][20101]You have an error in your SQL syntax;
    check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right
    syntax to use near '"mdl_user"' at line 1
    ORA-02063: preceding 2 lines from MOODLE
    My mysql database is utf8 by default. Do I have to use latin1?
    It seems to me that the dg4odbc translates the sql commands incorrectly (having double quotes around the selected table).
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Jeffrey

    The syntax error occures for example when MySQL isn't running in ANSI mode and thus does not allow double quotes around the objects. DG4ODBC 11.1.0.6 by default always adds double quotes to table/column/view names.
    A quick test to check if you hit the double quote issue would be to set the MySQL DB into ANSI mode:
    - Open SQL*Plus
    - execute:
    DECLARE
    ret integer;
    c integer;
    BEGIN
    c := DBMS_HS_PASSTHROUGH.OPEN_CURSOR@moodle;
    DBMS_HS_PASSTHROUGH.PARSE@moodle(c, 'SET SESSION SQL_MODE=''ANSI_QUOTES'';');
    ret := DBMS_HS_PASSTHROUGH.EXECUTE_NON_QUERY@moodle(c);
    dbms_output.put_line(ret ||' passthrough output');
    DBMS_HS_PASSTHROUGH.CLOSE_CURSOR@moodle(c);
    END;
    - Now run your select statement
    => if it now works, you can permanently change the MySQL config to be ANSI compliant or you can apply the 11.1.0.7 patchset to DG4ODBC.

  • Migrating MySQL5 database to Oracle 10g - refrential integrity constraints

    On migrating MySQL5 database to oracle, referential integrity constraints are not migrated to Oracle. Capture stage shows it has captured the constraints but constraints are missing from the Oracle Model. Is this a bug? If not, what I need to do to get constraints migrated.

  • MIgration from MYSQL database to Oracle database

    HI,
    Can you pls let me know how can we do this using Oracle SQL Developer.
    In Mysql database we are having one table which is not normalized and corresponding to it we have created normalized tables in oracle database.
    so scenario is like this
    EMP table in MYSQL database ----------- need to migrate to----> Employee table
    Dept table.
    These tables are having some extra columns also which are not there in EMP table in MYSQL database.
    SO we want to fill some default values for the new columns while doing the migration.
    Can you pls let me know if this is achievable through SQL Developer and how?

    Sorry, you'd have to do this in 2 steps:
    1. Migrate the tables as they are.
    2. Insert the rows from the migrated tables into the new ones.
    Have fun,
    K.

  • Migrate MySQL db to Oracle with SQL Developer / Migration Workbench

    I'm having a problem migrating a MySQL database to an Oracle database. I can make the connection to the MySQL database and query the data, but I can't do the migration.
    When I right-click on the MySQL schema, "Capture Schema" is greyed out. Same problem with clicking on an individual table. Also, the menu item "Migration --> Migrate" is greyed out.
    Can you help?

    Yes, I created a repository. And after your question, I clicked on the repository and was able to get the Migrate Data option for the first time. Thank you!
    Before I had been choosing the source database, which wouldn't allow me to choosse the Migrate Data option no matter what I did.
    Thanks for pointing out the obvious!

  • Connect to a mysql database with Oracle 9i

    Hello,
    how can I connect to a non_oracle-database in "Oracle 9i".
    I created a ODBC data source. In Oracle8 I needed OCA. But in 9i I believe the OCA is replaced by another thing.
    I wanted to connect in SQL*PLUS with:
    username/password@odbc:mysql
    But I get the error: ora-03121 "no interface driver connected - function not performed".
    How can I connect to another database?

    I've solved the DW problem by changing the site folders from
    'db' to 'wwwroot' e.g. 'C:\CFusionMX\db\' is now
    'C:\CFusionMX\wwwroot\
    However I'm now back to my original problem. I've lost my
    mqysql connection in CF Adminstrator. Before I made these changes I
    could connect to my mysql databases using the following settings:
    JDBC URL: jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/test
    Driver Name: MySQL Connector J
    using the following Java path and file:
    C:\CFusionMX\wwwroot\WEB-INF\lib\mysql-connector-java-3.0.17-ga-bin.jar
    Now these settings give me the following error:
    "Connection verification failed for data source: javaserver
    []java.sql.SQLException: SQLException occurred in JDBCPool
    while attempting to connect, please check your username, password,
    URL, and other connectivity info.
    The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException: SQLException
    occurred in JDBCPool while attempting to connect, please check your
    username, password, URL, and other connectivity info"
    Any suggestions on this would also be welcome.
    Thanks again to everyone for their help.
    Sincerely,
    Graham A. Kerby

  • Migrating mysql procedures into oracle

    Hi friends!
    I have a task to migrate one mysql db into oracle enviroment. So i plan to use a handy sql developer migration tool. I have not yet seen the source mysql db. So for now i just trying to figure out some issues wich may appear in the course of the work. I know there should be some complex procedures in the source db and wonder how good sql developer in wrapping mysql procedure logic into plsql code.
    Does anyone has experience with it?
    Thanks in advance. Alex.

    Alex,
    It's very difficult to say what problems you may have, if any, as it really does depend on the complexity of the MySQL procedures and what MySQL specific code they use.
    You can test using the 'Translation Scratch Editor' from the main menu -
    - Tools
    - Migration
    - Translation Scratch Editor
