How many problems before enough is enough?

I guess this is more of just a vent then anything else but hopefully it will help in getting a resolution.
I signed up with Verizon about 9 months ago because my girlfriend has Verizon and we wanted to make it easy mobile to mobile. That would be a mistake I would surely regret for the rest of the year and continuing into this year.
I originally signed a 1 year contract with my local Verizon store and got an HTC Thunderbolt, at the time what the rep in the store said to be the best trouble free device out there. Turns out he was surely wrong. I had multiple different issues from text messaging going to random people in my phone, losing service constantly, phone freezing, phone restarting, and several other problems. We must have exchanged that HTC close to 6 times before they finally sent me a replacement LG Revolution. Sure enough different problems would now come up. The phone would lose its cellular data network almost daily. I had issue after issue trying to make and receive calls, not to mention my internet working maby 20% of the time. I took the phones into local Verizon stores so they could see the problems and emailed screen shots of the issues to level 2 techs as well. We replaced that device a couple times before an update from Android crashed it again and Verizon sent me a new device again. Now were at the Motorolla Bionic. Seems to be a pretty good phone but one major draw back, I still lose data service often. I have to take the battery out of the phone and sometimes do a full master reset to get it back. I have NO apps loaded and the problem is there. I switch to CDMA Only thinking poor 4g coverage in my area is the problem but it still continues.
I have spent hours upon hours on the phone with Verizon. Had so many times that a rep said they would call me back and never did. Promises made by one rep then never a call back and when I call in again that person is in a different center and this person tells me that the previous promise could not happen ( for example, replacing a defective device with a NON Certified phone and new one instead) One night I spent 4 hours on the phone with Verizon, LG, Verizon then Verizon level 2 again. I must have over a full work week in time on the phone trying to fix things.
Now for the last couple months there are errors on my bill? They are charging me for old returned defective devices. They charged me in November for a device I returned. There system shows it returned! but they took forever to fix the charge so last months bill was $600 over my normal. I wouldn't pay it of course but they issued me a credit. Problem is the Credit they issued could not be shown until this months bill. I was promised a call at end of billing so we can straighten it all out and guess what, NO CALL AGAIN. So I called today and they got me a credit for that device and its on my bill. BUT  now there is a new charge for a device returned 5 months ago. Once again they show it being returned and have no idea why I am charged again. So we are back in same place seeking a solution to the problem again. Lets see if this rep calls me back as promised, my money is on NO....
How much of this back and forth horrible service and devices is enough? I have 3 months left on my contract but they say I have early cancellation fees if I terminate the two lines I signed.
I have paid my bill every month early, never gotten any compensation for my problems. Nothing but more problems and more issues. I miss T-Mobile and AT&T, never had this many problems with them!!!!

Maybe they should be there to help you?
OH holy ****, what a concept.
...especially considering that our local Wal-mart's connection center associates have proven more knowledgeable and helpful than any associate the local VZW store has. All they see money. All they think about are the things they can say to get it. Signed up in October, got <a Thunderbolt> and cannot wait to get the **** off Verizon (oh and only took three months for my corporate discount to be applied. After the first 24 hours of time spent on hold with them, I quit keeping track). Unless their game plan is "get bought out by AT&T," they should really rewrite the book.

You could try calling Apple and ask for Customer Relations.
    From Readers Digest-February, 2005
    How to Complain
You call customer service to complain about a product, and you hang up angrier than when you started. That’s customer rage, a feeling experienced by millions of people with a major complaint, says Scott Broetzmann, president an American firm that tells companies how to offer the best customer service. His secrets to getting good service:
    Have a goal
If you want your product repaired, say so. Want an apology? Speak up.
    Keep it short
Focus on one problem, and be succinct.
    Stick with it
You have to invest the time it takes. Don’t get what you want? Ask for a supervisor.
    Skip ultimatums
Don’t threaten not to do business with them again. Why should they help you if you won’t buy from them in the future?
    Plead your case
Many companies have information such as how much money you’ve spent with them and how often you complain. If you’re a good customer, they may be more willing to help.
    Be nice
You’re unlikely to get what you want if you’re rude.
    Good luck.

  • How many FLVs before you get problems?

I have built a small project in Captivate 4 (30 screens with 15 FLV files ranging in duration from 30 - 60 ; FLV sizes are between 3 and 6 mb).  I am encountering the following issue:
Course plays fine when FLVs are unsynched
FLVs "stutter" randomly when synched to project
The video was shot at 29.97 FPS but I have re-exported it at 30 FPS.  I also set preload to 100% and strangely this reduced the severity of the issue but did not fix it (I say strange as the FLVs should not be affected by the pre-loader)
Has anyone else experienced this issue?  My questions are:
How can I synch FLVs without stutter during playback
Is there a limt on the number of FLVs that can be included in an individual project?
Is there a limit on the total duration of FLV footage that can be included in a project?
Much zen and good wishes to all who reply (and potential consulting gigs!!!)
    Cheers

How many times do you get a new iPhone because of manufacturing  defects, before you can ask for an newer model?
You don't.  Apple's warranty provides for replacing your device with an identical model (same model, carrier, capacity & color).
And you aren't getting a new iPhone.  You'll be getting a remanufactured iPhone, which has gone through a more thorough inspection than any new iPhone ever does.
If you want a newer model, then trade-in or privately sell your current device and use the proceeds towards purchasing another device.

  • How Many Subscribers Before Its Featured?

    Just a quick question.
For anyone out there that has a podcast featured in iTunes (like when you click on say science, its on the page that appears with graphics), How many subscribers did it take before iTunes put it up?
I know they said that one of the ways to get a podcast featured is to "Generate interest. If a podcast is taking off, it tends to get our attention".
I know its probably different from podcast to podcast, but I'm just trying to get an idea of how long its gonna take.

  • How many Encodes before you have a Top Quality DVD with FCS2?

    Hello
I am wanting to buy Final Cut Pro Studio as I am having problems creating good quality DVDs with FCE4 and iDVD. I was wondering how many encodes does it take to create a top quality DVD with FCS2?

Do you mean you are expecting the software to solve problems for you? It doesn't; only adds problems by forcing you to make many more decisions yourself. FCE-to-iDVD is actually a very fine production flow.
FCS and DVDSP give you far more options: many more ways to accomplish tasks and to exert subjective control over your images, sound, and video. All of those option require elevated patience, understanding, comprehension.

  • How many problems with iTunes?

I posted a question regarding iTunes 8.1.1 about 5 hours ago. Having just checked for any replies, I was a bit taken aback to find that during those 5 hours, there have been so many new questions posted, I am tucked away on page 3 - no wonder I don't have any replies! Makes you wonder whether Apple must be questioning the benefit of 8.1.1 - I know I am...

It could be that no one else is having the same problem and therefor, no one has any knowledge or suggestions to share. Sorry not to have more.
Along these lines, 5 hours isn't a huge amount of time. Don't forget that the people responding on these forums are just other users like you, not Apple employees.
You asked your question on the itunes forum, so you have to wait for somebody to happen along with the same model phone as you, with the same problem (and a solution!) with the same version of itunes. With a question involving a specific item of hardware that involves a diverse use piece of software like itunes my inclination would be to post the question on the hardware forum where it will get the attention of other iphone users. On the itunes forum your question may get lost among all the other questions about itunes that have nothing to do with the new version, or iphones.

  • How many duds before I get an iPhone that works?

I'm either the unluckiest person on this planet or there's just something so very wrong!
Is there such a thing as using the Internet too much on an iPhone? Accessing and using apps too much?
I have had 2 iPhones, original and replacement. My second one now I haven't even had for a month. I've had 2 SIM cards, original and replacement. My second one now I haven't even had for 2 weeks.
I'm having issues with my Internet service as some of you who may have helped me in my previous posts know. I can have full 3G coverage and full area coverage yet it's impossible to get anything that requires the Internet to load or work. Getting constant error loading messages that I'm not connected to the Internet, when I definitely am connected to the Internet.
Turning the phone off then on doesn't work. Connecting iPhone up to charge or sync doesn't work. The Internet is very intermittent and just works whenever it wants to.
Have been in contact with my carrier several times, they tell me each time I have very strong and great coverage in my area and shouldn't be having these problems.
I've done nothing differnt with both the replacement iPhone or SIM card than I did with my original of both.
I'm only left to wonder is there any 'bad' apps that can cause issues? I don't even have that many apps on my iPhone and have plenty of space free. I don't visit any dodgy websites, or sites that would be likely to have viruses etc.
I'm at the stage now where I am seriously thinking of handing back the iPhone and cancelling my service because I'm paying a large amount per month for something I'm having continuing issues with and it's just not acceptable anymore.

Sorry to hear about your problems.
Restart, reset, restore are the basic troubleshooting steps from the manual:
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/iPhone_UserGuide.pdf
We have had an original iphone for two and a half years and a 3gs since release day and have never even had to restore.
I hope you get the issues resolved.

  • How Many Problems / Repairs Until Laptop is declared a Dud?

So far I have had a logic board and iSight replaced, a new battery, and a new keyboard casing. Is this normal for a Mac to need this many repairs? I am very lucky I got applecare. I have 2 years left on applecare, but I think it is just unreasonable for the computer to need this many repairs in such a short period of time. I do not abuse it (It basically just sits at a desk all the time), and I keep good care of it. I think another problem is brewing, When I start my laptop I get one startup chime and then another half of one, what's up with that? Basically, should I call customer care and ask them about my issues, or is this normal with macs?

There is no magic number. It seems to be decided case by case. It would not hurt for you to discuss it with Customer Care, that is what they are there for. You would also be on record with them in the chance that something else happens. Which by the way your talking may be sooner than you hoped.

  • T400 BIOS passowrds. How many attempts before being locked out?

I have an old T400 which I am going to give to a student. I haven't used it for a couple of years and previously used the fingerprint login and so I have forgotten the BIOS passwords. I am fairly sure that I set the same password for all the power on, supervisor and hard disk passwords and am pretty sure I can guess the password if I had 10 or so attempts (I only use a set number of passwords for non sensitive sites) but I am concerned that I will be locked out after 3 attempts.
If I get locked out am I able to get into the bios and keep trying a different password?
    Thanks

After 3 attempts, you need to restart.

  • Erase Options -- How many is enough?

The Disk Utility under the Install DVD gives you three Erase/write zeros options -- 1x, 7x's and 32. On my PowerBook G4, I did a successful (so far) install of Leopard after many problems with a previous "clean install." (prior install - I didn't erase but did what Apple calls "Erase in Install") Last weekend I used the 7 pass erase/write zeros before the installation on the PB. This took some 4-5 hours. I have an empty HD on my MacPro where I am considering "testing" Leopard. Is it really necessary to erase and write zeros more than One Time? With a 500GB HD, I would guess the 7 pass process would take a day to complete.

Whether or not, a zero out on a new drive is necessary is up for grabs. It can't hurt. What it will do is spare any bad blocks, if any exist. One zero pass is enough. The 7X and 32X are for more complete data destruction, so any data written to the drive previously cannot be easily retrieved.

No one here could possibly know if 16GB is enough for your intended usage.  Have you had an iPhone or smartphone before?  What was it's capacity?  Did you ever run out of space?
I have an old iPhone 4 8GB that worked wonderfully, but I made sure to be very selective about what apps I installed, I deleted apps that I no longer needed or wanted, and I imported my photos & videos to my computer on a regular basis and deletde the unneeded ones from my iPhone.  When I got a larger capacity iPhone, my usage did change, mainly because I had more flexibility.
To be honest, if you can afford the difference in price, it's worth getting the largest capacity version of the iPhone that you want.  For example, a $200 difference to go from 16GB to 128GB is a decent deal, but even on my current device, I'm rarely using more than 10 GB of storage.

  • HT201272 I get this message when I try to download purchased music, never seen it before, never had a problem before. you do not have enough access privelages for this operation

I get this message when I try to download purchased music, never seen it before, never had a problem before.
"you do not have enough access privelages for this operation"
This computer is authorized, auoto download is enabled and I can download on my ipad without a problem.
Any ideas what might be going on?

    Hi jimbowby,
If you are getting this error message just when attempting to download previously purchased music (new purchases work fine), and it's only occuring on the computer (redownloads on the iPad work fine), it may be a permissions issue. It may be worth taking a look at the Resolution section of the following article, which covers other issues that can throw that same error message: Trouble adding music to iTunes library or importing audio CD Hope that helps.
    Cheers,

The website may not run properly on a mobile device. You can try another browser (search the App Store) but it may be hard-coded into the website itself.

  • How many services is enough?

    Hi
I thought I'd start with a general question!
How many services are you using and managing?
Do you have a feel for the optimum number of services per line of code?
How do you judge whether you have too many or too few?
Thanks for any of your thoughts....

I'm not sure I understand the question, is the message tone going more then once?
Turn off repeat message alert here:

Some people have found this does not stop the repeat miessage tone,
if you are one of those then I suggest you contact Apple:

They may not respond, but hopefully will fix in uodate if enough people complain.
