How often is email checked?

I have an E6 and I periodically send test emails.  I noticed that sometimes I receive my test emails instantly.
Other times I receive them after a good while.
On past phones I was able to set how often to check email, but on my E6 for some reason I cant.
Can anyone explain the inconsistency?

Hi there!
I noticed on my E6 that "Soonest" means the phone is in sync all the time. You can see a green circule appear at the left top corner of e-mail app. It should send/receive directly (push mail). It works good, didn't notice any disturbances.
I wouldn't recommend to choose that option otherwise you're really in need of that because it will draw your battery down. My recommendation is 30 minutes max to 1 hour in comparison with usability and energy saving.
By the way, you should check at your home screen options menu if your widgets are at "On-line" mode. It's omportant too if you want your mails displayed soonest.

I simply want to know how often Mozilla Thunderbird checks for new mail. Can I change this time period to more or less often?

As often as you tell it to check. Note, some email providers limit the frequency with which one is allowed to check for new mail. An interval of less than 10 min doesn't really make sense.
Tools (Alt-T) - Account Settings - Server Settings
Check for new messages every x minutes.

Hi..  Welcome to he Palm forums.  If you didnt specify a time frame for it to check mail the only time it will check is when you tell it to.  You do that by going to messaging and the inbox of the account in question and then menu-send receive.

Wouldn't It be a good idea if this document link stay in All Threads next to link Reply to this Thread or in any place of this page ?

  • How often does my Curve 9300 check for new email messages?

    Hello everyone,
I hope that you are all well.
I use a Curve 9300 (3G) and assumed that it checked for and retrieved new emails all of the time. However, it seems that it only retreives new messages from my email account every so often. Could someone please let me know how often it checks for new emails?
Also, when I run a Diagnostic Test in the Mobile Network Options menu the result says NO when it tests to see if it is connected to my email account. When I ran tests a while ago the result was YES. Could someone please let me know if this is anything to worry about?
    Many thanks.

First, you have a misunderstanding that the handheld device "checks" for messages. They don't.
RIM's technology on which the company and popularity was built is that RIM servers go out to your email server and checks for new mail and "pushes" those messages to your handheld BlackBerry.
On a normal POP3 email server, that occurs every 15 minutes and if new messages are found they are pushed and the RIM server checks again in 2 minutes for a few cycles, and after 3-4 cycles of two minute checks, if no new messages are found, it reverts to 15 minutes.
On an IMAP email server, the push is instant. An example of this might gmail accounts, yahoo mail, and private domains hosted by GoDaddy.

  • How often do Mobile devices "Check in"

Does anyone the answer to the following questions:
    1. How often do mobile devices enrolled in Intune (integrated into SCCM 2012) check in for new policy/apps?
    2. Does this vary by device type? (i.e. does iOS check in x many hours versus Android)
    3. Are there any other trigger points that force a mobile client to check in?
Just trying to understand what the typical delivery time is for an Intune managed device to receive a newly deployed app or setting, and if there is anyway to force a client to check in (from the client itself).
    Thanks!

    Hi William,
According to official documentation, the sync interval is 8 hours for all platforms:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn376523.aspx
However, on the internet various blogs report:
Windows Phone 8 by default connects every 8 hours. You can force/initiate the sync from the enrollment UI (settings -> workspace)
Windows 8.1 connects every 24 hours. You can force by running "Run MDMAgent.exe" from an elevated Command Prompt.
iOS by default connects every 24-36 hours. It is rumoured (didn't test it myself) you can force a policy/app sync by installing an app from the company portal app. You can later de-install the app if you want. By installing the app, the company portall
app is forced to connect to Intune and will get new policies and apps at the same time.
The WP8 sync force works for sure. i use this option all the time during Intune deployments.

  • Quick Question - how often does a device check-in to see if it needs an iOS update?

simple question which i cant get an answer from Apple or the Normal discussion forums, so thought i woudl try the developer forums.
how often does a device check-in to see if it needs an iOS update?
and if its perodically (something like 7 days) would that explain why on two devices - one would show as the latest update being 7.0.4 and one shows 7.0.6?

    How ddid you ask Apple?
This information is probably simply not disclosed.

  • How to set the Charge's email checking frequency polling interval?

HI.  Does anybody know the secret for setting the email checking frequency polling interval?
During setup I get two options:  Push and Never.     If I choose push I find no options for setting the check frequency to 15 min, 1 hour, etc......
Am I missing something?    Would like to tune it to consume an optimal amount of battery.

    Hello LIRob,
After testing on Droid Charge myself, yes the only options for changing "Email Check Frequency" are "Automatic (Push)" and "Never".  I know you mentioned you are wanting to conserve as much battery usage as possible, so I have included a link below with a short video that gives some tips & tricks on conserving battery on Samsung Charge.

  • How frequent is mail checking?

I am trying to decide which email service to use on my iPhone
So far I have setup Yahoo (which is my real email service), a gMail account and a trial .mac account.
None of the settings seems to allow you to say how often the phone should check your email system for new messages.
Yahoo has the push technology, which by reading the forums you learn is very sporadic at the moment.
What about gmail and .mac? When I send test emails to them from my Mac they sometimes arrive in a minute, other times it can take over an hour.
If I go into mail on the iPhone I can ask it to refresh, which retrieves the emails but surely the point is that it should periodically check for you

You know something, I was in the middle of replying to this email with the response...
"Where? I can not see that option"
then I found it -- thanks for that, I totally missed it

    1. where in the sitewindow/assets or files panel can I see an

    2. and where can I see/check on which pages it is used?
Thanks in advance for guiding me there ...

I'm not sure what the benefit is of knowing how often an
    image is used, but
a search for the image by filename would do the trick.
And just so you'll know, this is a peer forum, not an

  • How often can I swap a Creative Cloud activation between more than two systems?

I have three computers - one at work (desktop) and two at home (desktop and laptop). My Adobe CC account is currently installed on two of them (desktop at work, desktop at home) but I would like to swap one of those activations as often as twice a week when I need to take my laptop on the go. i.e. I would activate my laptop and deactivate my home desktop for about 24 hours and then re-deactivate/re-activate..
How often can I do that activate/deactivate without breaking the EULA?

    Hi Midimid,
    Welcome back to Adobe Forum,
In Creative Cloud, you sign in to activate your software.
Make sure that your computer is connected to the Internet.
    Start the application.
Choose Help > Sign In. (If this option is dimmed, you've already signed in and don't need to activate your software.)
Log in with your Adobe ID (usually your email address) to activate your subscription. If you don’t have an Adobe ID, you see an option to create one.
Note: If Creative Cloud prompts you to enter a serial number after signing in, see Creative Cloud applications ask for serial number.
Signing out of one Creative Cloud application deactivates all Creative Cloud applications associated with your Adobe ID on that computer.
Make sure that your computer is connected to the Internet.
    Start the application.
Choose Help > Sign Out (Your Adobe ID).
    Click Sign Out.
Alternately, you can sign out from all Creative Cloud applications on your machine using the Creative Cloud app for desktop.
Open the Creative Cloud Desktop App.
    Choose the Settings icon.
    Choose Preferences.
    Choose Account.
Choose Sign Out from Creative Cloud.
Running into a problem? See Common Deactivation Issues.
Please check the details in http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-deactivation-products.html#ho w-to
However I would request you to go for Creative Cloud for Team in which you can add the number of seats & install it on computers required.
Hope this information helps you, please mark the post if the issue is addressed, we value your opinion.
    Kind Regards,
    Rajshree

  • Messages List and Email Checking Question

Is there a way to list ONLY emails in the Messages screen?  I don't want to see Twitter alerts or call log info, JUST emails.
Also, is there way a to check for emails manually?  When I am home, I don't care about getting the emails on my phone so I want to be able to set how often it checks.

If you hit the green phone icon, hit the menu button and go into Options. From there go into Call Logging. You can set this to None to prevent the calls from appear in Messages. Not sure about Twitter as I don't use that app. There may be an option for that as well.
There isn't an option to check for email manually. If you're on a BES then emails will be delivered at the same time as in your email client. If you're using a POP account like Hotmail then it will poll for new email every 15 minutes. If your using an IMAP account  like Gmail then it's delivered almost instantaneously to the device. You can disable an email account but then you have to remember to re enable it to continue to get emails to the device.

  • How many users and how often a particular discoverer report is being run?

    Hi there,
We run discoverer(4i) reports from portal. The question is:
How to find out the number of users and how often a particular discoverer report is being run?
    Many Thanks in advance.
    Naren

I know in the 9 versions of discoverer is there is a Discoverer v5 Business Area that is included out of the box. You have to have the stats turned on inside of the pref.txt. But that BA has all of the information to create queries about who, what, parameters, etc. You'll have to check and see if its part of 4i.
