How planning strategy 50 works?

Hello
For one finished goods, I set it's planning stratety as 50, create it's BOM with two component, and set component's planning stratety as 10.
As planning stratety 50 features, before sales order of finished goods dropping, assembly stock should be ready, so, if we can understand in this way, when sales order is dropping, and MRP running:
for finished goods, planned order for finished goods is generated and reduce original VP planned order;
for assembly, suppose there is no dependent requirement generated. But in my testing case, stock of assembly is enough, but dependent requirement is also generated. It's conflict with planning stratety 50.
I think maybe I made a wrong setting for assembly in material master, I set assembly's planning strategy as 10.
Who can help me to fix this issue? I want a result that when assembly stock is enough, no dependent requirement generated for assembly.

Hi Nicole,
With planning strategy 50 u will get a planned order for Fg when MRp is run but this planned order is not convertible. The planned orders for SFG can be converted if u have setting in MRp 4 view - ind/coll reqt as 2.
Only when a Sales order comes then the VP planned order qty gets reduced by the sales order qty and another plnd order created for the sales order qty which can be connverted and FG stocked to Warehouse.
Also, if u maintain Plng strategy for FG as 50 and for child 30 , FG plng strategy takes precedence even though u have specified plng strategy for child. So the plng strategy for the product is 50 only.
Thanks and regards,
Rajesh

I want to know how database adapter works when polling startegy is "delete the rows that were read".This polling strategy helps for polling the changes to table and remove records after new records are inserted or changes are done to table. Here,i want to understand how DB adapter identifies which record to be deleted.
    For example:
There is a table EMP with 100 recorrds. Now, i deploy a BPEl process with db adapter polling on table EMP for changes. So that ,if any change happen to records in table that records will be picked up.I use a polling startegy "delete the rows that were read" .
Now i insert 9 new records and update one existing records. These 10 records should be picked up and then deleted by Db adapter. In this 109 records how DB adapter identifies these 10 records when it polls. How it differentiatess old records with new records when there is no flag field or no sequence id used to identify the new or modified records.
    Please let me know.
Why i want to know this?
Some times customer may not allow BPEL process to do any modifications to source table or source database. In this case the options provided by database adapter wizard are not useful.
If there is any mechanism to identify new or modified records without having a FLAG field or sequence table, then it is possible to have an option like only read the changes from table rather than deleting the records after reading.Which helps in meeting above requirement.
Please let me know if there is any way to do this.
    thanks
    Arureddy

Once the record has been read it is deleted. Therefore, you can update rows in this table as many times you like before it is read. Once it is read there will be nothing to update as it will be deleted.
If you don't want to use a sequence table, you can use a sequence file. You can only use this functionality if the key you are using increments sequentially. e.g. 1,2,3,4. If your key is random, e.g. 2,1,3,5,7,4 then your options are delete or use a processing flag.
The other option is to create a trigger that inserts a key into a polling table when insert or updates occur. You can then use the delete, which is the most desirable as it uses database locking.

    Amit,
I guess you must have overlooked the rules of engagement for this forum. It is customary for questioners to first perform basic research before posting any questions.
First, search in the forums (search box in the upper right of this page). FYI The question you raised has been covered dozens of times.

  • MRP exception message 64 and planning strategy group 52

    Hi Gurus,
I have done extensive search online in the forum to find the route cause why we are getting MRP exception message 64 for a specific material in one of our plants. This exception message does not occur for the same materials which is also produced in another plant.
I was just wondering whether the planning strategy group of 52 in MRP 3 view would have any effect on the frequent occurrence of exception message 64. I know that the 64 message occurs when the routing time is higher than the in house production time. If that's the case where to look for in routing to correct this, apart from this do we need to look at work centers and other details. I'm not a  PP person but still was curious to know see if i could take a shot at it.
Also the MRP settings that we follow in the plant where this problem does not occur is NETCH, Create PR - 2, Schedule lines - 3, create MRP list - 1, Planning mode - 3, scheduling -2
in the plant where the 64 message occurs quite often is Netch, Create PR -2, Schedule lines - 3, create MRP list - 1, planning mode - 1, Schdeduliing - 1
I was  thinking do MRP settings and planning strategy group would have any impact on why we are getting the 64 wexception message
Because of this 63 exception message, the downstream components are getting wrong signals.
    Thanks
    Ravi

    Hello Ravi
Generallt, exception message "64 - Production finish after order finish" is triggered when the order start date is in the past and system automatically changes to forward scheduling to calculate the finish date.
Note 1913017 explains how the order basic date is calculated and adjusted in case of forward scheduling, however, you are using strategy 52 and this is a very special scenario, whever VP planned orders are generated.
The VP planned orders will always be adjusted to the requirements date even if the requirements date is in the past. This is a special feature in the planning segment, since these orders are only kind of 'virtual' planned orders. These orders only have to provide the demand requirements for the components in time.
Therefore, there is a relationship between strategy 52 (VP planned order) and the exception message observed.

  • Reg:Planning Strategy 40

    Hi friends,
i need to know about planning strategy 40.
    For EX:
    1. suppose if we have  planned and created PIR from january to march(quarterly plan) for any product, now if we want to change the plan how the system will behave..can we change the PIR  which we have generated from JANUARY TO march.
If it is possible to chnage ,,how to change the PIR..what will be the impacts.
2' Can we create another PIR once again from january to march...or feB to march apart from existing PIR
    3. suppose if i have created PIR from january to march , and splitted into daily  plan, in between if the sales orders comes how this planning strategy 40 will behave. As it is make to stock.
    For Ex:
We have planned 1000 numbers in the month of january, daily 50numbers production.
Suppose if we get sales order for another 2000 apart from our planning 1000numbers ,how this planning strategy will behave.
    Thanks in addvance.

    Dear
Planning startegy 40 works like follows :
It is basically Consumption of PIR not Reduction of PIR .
Example :Let say you have  PIR for 1000  for January  and it is appearing in MD04
Now you have sales order for another 2000  for same month .Here PIR quantity is less than the Sales Order Qty ! Now run MRP -MD03/MD02 -NETCH , 2,1,3,3,2 and check the Result .Here PIR will be vanished and PR/Planned  of 2000PC will be appearing in MD04.So PIR is consumed by Sales Order .
Now you have   PIR for 2000   and you have sales order for another 1000  for same month .Here PIR quantity is more  than the Sales Order Qty ! If you goto MD04-Sales Order will not appear at all .That means Sales Order is geting fullfilled by PIR deamnd. Now run MRP -MD03/MD02 -NETCH , 2,1,3,3,2 and check the Result .Here Sales will be vanished and PR/Planned  of 2000PC will be appearing in MD04.
Refer : Re: Industry wise planning strategy usage
    Answer of your questions :
1.You can goto MD62-Change and add PIR questiy at Material level , Plan Numbers , Product Group Level
2.You can create but it will update th exsiting motnhly requirement  in the same planning table in MD62
3.This question is answerd in the above explanation .
    Hope it helps
    Regards

  • Availability check of sales order in planning strategy 40

    Dear friends,
    Kindly help me this query:
From online SAP help in Demand Management, it said in planning strategy 40:
"An accurate availability check is performed according to ATP (available to promise) logic during sales order processing. The system checks whether sufficient planned independent requirements have been planned to cover the sales order....  If there is insufficient coverage of components (the sales order quantities exceed the planned independent requirement quantities), the sales orders cannot be confirmed"
According to above paragraph, I think that availability check of sales order is carried out against PIR, if PIR quantity cannot cover sales order quantity then order will not be confirmed, it also means stock on-hand will not be included in availability check. However, my testing reveal a different conclusion: sales order is confirmed against stock on-hand, not PIR. My questions are:
1/ in planning strategy 40, how does system carry out availability check for sales order?
2/ how to interpret above help from SAP?
I got that help from this link: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60_sp/helpdata/en/cb/7f9b7043b711d189410000e829fbbd/frameset.htm
Many thanks for your clear answers.
    Regards,
    Duc.

    Dear duc pb ,
In 40 its only ATP that works.
you can do another test ,
    Create PIR 15 quantity.
Create a stock of 10 quantity.
and now create a sales order firszt of quantity 30, as both of the above after combining cant fullfill this demand, save order run MRP.
system will create orders against PIR (15)  and remainibnbg quantity of sales order (5)
run one more test, by creating PIR 15 quantity , no stock and a sales order of with quantity 10.
    share your findings.
    Thanks

  • Planning strategy group

    Dear Gurus,
Please elaborate the function & logic of planning strategy group used for production planning? How the alternate strategies works under main strategy?
    Regards,
    SAP CONS

Once Planning strategy is created , Then we need to assign planning strategy  in Planning Strategy Group in IMG> Prdn> prdn planning> PIR> define strategy Group,
In Planning stratergy Group we can assign 1 main strategy and 7 alternate strategy.
Ex: If the same material is produced both MTS and  rarely MTO means
Maintain a Main strategy as 10 and Alternate strategy as 20
Then when ever sale order comes System will take KSL is sale order, system will consider MTS as per Main stratergy
If you want to procure based on Customer for that Material Then Go to procurement Tab of sale order change the Requirement type as KE. and save, ( system will allow only KSL and KE based On streatergy Group, System will take deafult main stratergy, IF you want to change the stratergy got to sale order procurement tab, change the reqmt type)

  • Call Horizon - How does it work

    Hi All,
I have a doubt related to call horizon and how does it work.
We have a strategy with the following cycles:
    C1 - 250 Hours
    C2 - 500 Hours
    C3 - 1000 Hours
    C4 - 2000 Hours
In strategy, if we define a call horizon of 90% how the system generates the schedule calls?
    C1 - 250 H - 250 H * 90% = 25 Hours earlier
    C2 - 500 H - 500 H * 90% = 50 Hours earlier
    C3 - 1000 H - 1000 H * 90% = 100 Hours earlier
    C4 - 2000 H - 2000 H * 90% = ~2000 Hours earlier
    Is that correct?
    Regards,
    Rogério Reis

    hi
it is not the case of cycle unit ,it is the combination of current counter, and annual performance .
for example i have created a maintenace plan of 1000h,2000h,3000h with the call horizon as 90% and with the annual estimate as 3650 ie 10 h/day
then while scheduling system will calculate the call day as per the least couter cycle ie in normal reaching 1000 h will take 100 days ,since the 90% call horizon is there system will consider 10 days in advance or 100 hrs
hence for the next cycle aslo sysem will consider the 10 days advance or when the counter reaches 1900

  • What is efax and how does it work?

    Hi!
eFax® is a service provided by eFax®, not Hewlett-Packard, that allows you to send and receive faxes using the Internet rather than a phone line. eFax® is easy to use, but it is different than a typical phone-based fax machine. You don't require a phone line to use it, so you don't have to worry about busy signals and you can place your printer where you want it, not where the phone jacks are located! The fax number you are provided will not typically be a local number, and may even be in a different country. You will receive 20 incoming and 20 outgoing fax pages per month for free with this service. Your page counts will reset at midnight Pacific Time on the first of each month. You can also subscribe to eFax® Plus to obtain additional pages per month by visiting: http://www.eFax.com/products/internet-fax.
    How does it work?
eFax® uses the printer Internet connection to send and receive faxes. When you send a fax, it is sent over the Internet to the eFax® server and then eFax® sends your fax to the recipient's fax machine over a standard phone line.
Your faxes are received in a similar manner, but the order is reversed. The sender sends the fax over a phone line to eFax® and then eFax® sends the fax to your printer using HP's ePrint service.
    This question was solved.

    Hi Im_cheesecake,
Great information, if you don't mind I just wanted to piggy back off of your post, to clear any potential confusion.
The 20 free incoming & 20 free outgoing faxes are with HP printer's that include the eFax service print app.  As of now, we have three printer series' that include the pre-installed eFax print app: HP Photosmart 7510 Series, HP Envy 110 Series, and the HP Photosmart eStation C510a.
eFax also has a free plan which allows you to receive a limited number of faxes but does not allow you to send any faxes. If you exceed the number of received faxes allowed, eFax will prompt you to upgrade to a paying account. Here are the main details of the free plan:
One remote (i.e. non-local) eFax number
Area code/prefix is selected by eFax and cannot be changed (unless you upgrade to a paid account)
20 incoming fax pages per month (receive-only)
You are prompted to upgrade to a paying account if you exceed 20 incoming pages, or if you need send capability.
Say "Thanks" by clicking the blue Kudos Star in the post that helped you.
Please mark the post that solves your problem as "Accepted Solution"; therefore, it's easier for others to find.

  • APO DP with MRP How does it work.?

Please let me know if you have documents available. It will be really great help
    Thanks a lot
    Regards,
    Raj

    Hi Raj,
Demand Planning tool is basically meant for generation of Future demand at different planning level with the help of Characteristcis Value combination.
For generation of future demand you need past sales history which you can take from R/3 with the help of BW functionality.
After that you run forecast engine & generate future demand. Now for taking planning run & generation for PIR or Perchase requistion you need this demand. Here you are using MRP for taking planing run.
So first you have to transfer demand which is unconstrained in to R/3 in MD61 with the help of transaction /SAPAPO/REL_TO_OLTP - Release from InfoProvider to ERP System but you need to take backup of your DP planning area & save data in to info cube.
After that you can transfer data from Info Cube to R/3 with the help of above transaction. In R/3,after MRP run you can find Planned Order & Purchase Requistion. After that you have convert that in to Production Order & purchase order as per your requirement.
But MRP having some restriction like MRP & Capacity planning will not run simulteniously etc. so generally we are prefer SNP tool for genetarion of these data with accuracy & optimized.
    Hope this will help you.

  • What is "Assisted GPS" on the iPad and how does it work?

What is "Assisted GPS" on the iPad and how does it work?

I purchased the iPad mini Wi-Fi & Cell because it has GPS. OK, it is assisted GPS but the GPS works very well as stand alone. I got the iPad mini for use in flight, so I dont even have a sim card in it. The GPS works perfectly in flight under all conditions. I have cross checked it against typical approved aircraft installations and it is very accurate at all times. I use it in Wi-Fi mode on the ground when updating my aviation database, when planning a flight, or similar circumstances. The primary advantage of A-GPS is quick location reading when first turned on, when on the ground where the GPS satellites signal may be of reduced quality. At 10,000 feet plus, it is a stand alone GPS. I have frequently turned the iPad off in flight for periods of time and when powering up, it gave me accurate positioning in a few seconds, never exceeded 10 seconds. I have also tested my iPad on the ground, using the aviation maps, and the GPS works perfectly also.
It remains possible that there is some feature that enhances the GPS when on the ground, even if there is no sim card in the iPad. But I doubt that any of these would work in an aircraft at high altutide. Nonetheless, I would appreciate knowing more about this.

  • How Does AppleCare  Work?

So I live in Canada and I purchased an iPhone 5 from Bell. I was reading about AppleCare+ and it sounds like a really great thing because it covers accidental damage. However, Bell sells iPhone insurance that covers accidental damage BUT it also covers loss and theft and it's $7.00/month. So I was wondering how it would work if I purchase AppleCare+ at the Apple Store and also get the coverage from Bell. The reason I want both is because Apple's deductible for accidental damage is only $50, whereas Bell's deductible is $250. BUT Bell covers loss and theft, whereas AppleCare+ does not. I'm just trying to think ahead here. For instance:
Let's say I drop my phone in the toilet and it gets fried. I take it to the Apple Store with my AC+ and they replace it for $50. Then later on I lose that phone or it gets stolen. Can I get that phone replaced by Bell under my Bell iPhone insurance? Or does it have to be the original phone only?
I know this is not a Bell forum, but this could go the other way too. Let's say my phone gets stolen or I lose it in a taxi and it's gone for good. Bell replaces it on my insurance plan with them and as I'm doing my happy dance with my new iPhone it goes flying out of my pocket and it gets smashed to smithereens. Would AppleCare+ still replace THAT phone even though it's not the original phone?
Confusing? I hope not. If anyone here can shed some light I'd really appreciate it. This is my first iPhone and I find all of this a bit overwhelming to understand. Thanks in advance!
