How the packaging material is treated in PGI

i have done PGI for a material with a packaging material which consistutes a handling unit .
ie handling unit= materaial + packaging material .
when i did PGI , maetrial is shown in the storage location as reduced qty . fine .
where is the packaging material along the material gone . NO trace of it .in mmbe no qty available
how the packaging material is treated
please help , my question is genuine .

in mmbe , the packaging material qty is zero. but even though i can do pack it and create a HU . and also done PGI.ow the material is reduced its quantity . but no track of packaging material.
how the HU related packaging material works . i have limited knowledge on HU .
please help me to undersytand . in sap library also not much explanation abt it .

Parent view means the view which is above the 2 or more valuation types which consists of avg value of all other val types

Paying the vendor for the packaging material

Hi,
I have a scenario wherein I want to pay the vendor for the packaging costs incurred for the packaging item created automatically in the delivery. My packaging vendor and transporter are different. I have shipment as well as shipment cost associated with the delivery.
How do I pass on the cost incurred on packaging from the delivery so as to pay the vendor?

Hi,
The transportation costs can be calculated on different bases, for
instance on base of the handling units (C), Per handling unit (E) or
Shipping unit including delivery item (F). In all cases the handling
unit must be part of the transport, to become calculation base for the
transport cost calculation.

Hi Manu,
I assume your basic settings for handling units are ok (e.g. item category group settings in material master for packmat and to-be-packed material - e.g. MARA-VHART, MVKE-MTPOS, MARA-MAGRV).
What you have to do:
- SPRO > LE > SHipping > Deliveries > Define Item Category Determination for Deliveries - here you have to set: "Delivery type"-"Item category group"-"Usage"-"item category high level item"-Item category" combination (e.g.: LF-LEIH-PACK-<empty>-DLN)
- SPRO > LE > Shipping > Pack > Define Packaging Material Types - here you have to maintain Plant determination for HU" field for your packmat ("Plant proposed from the first item that was packed).
Please also ensure whether generation of packaging material type is allowed for the delivery type you use: SPRO > LE > Shipping > Deliveries > Delivery Type - here set "Gen. pack. matl. item"
If these settingsare ok > create the delivery in VL01N > pack the main item (VL02N > (menu) Edit > Pack). Whe you go back to overview you should see the newly generated item for your packaging material.
If you want the packaging material item automatically generated when you create the delivery, you have to:
- maintain packaging instruction for the to-be-packed item
- set auto pack indicator for delivery type (SPRO > LE > Shipping > Deliveries > Delivery Type - here set "Automatic packing")

Packaging material to auto-generate lines in delivery & PGI

Dear Experts,
The requirement is to have the inventory for packaging material to reduce on PGI.
I am trying to resolve this by getting the packaging materials used in the delivery to auto-generate new line line/s. I have set the packaging material's GenerateDlvItms to "B" & checked the box to "generate packaging material items" in the delivery type, but no lines get created!
Whats the right way to reduce packaging material stock on PGI?
Does generating the line in delivery help? If yes, hows the right way to do it?
Please advice.

Packaging material is not appearing in the Goods receipt of STPO

Dear All,
We are currently dealing one Roll-Out project for one multinational company. In that from sales side, one of the main processes defined is u201CStock Transport Purchase Order processu201D. As a regular process, outbound delivery document also created with ref to STPO.
As per the client requirement the u201CPackaging materialu201D needs to be added as additional line item in the delivery to calculate the packaging cost. This packaging material is a "Stockable and Valuated" material. So while performing the PGI the stock will get reduced from SD side.
The problem is, using this same STPO delivery document the Goods receipt is planned to do in the another side of company code. while doing the Goods receipt system is displaying only the "Finished Product" only. The packaging material is not displaying while doing the goods receipt in the another company code.
due to this we are not able to complete our test cycle.
so we need the expert opinion to solve this issue.
if the packaging material is added as additional line item while doing Goods receipt then, the problem is solved.

frWe have customized that also and now u201CPackaging materialu201D is adding as a new line item in the delivery document as a non valuated material.
But the issue is, the Billing type u201CZICu201D is not getting determined while creation of billing if u201CPackaging materialu201D is added as a new line item. If u201CPackaging materialu201D is not added as a line item then, billing type is getting determined automatically without any issue.
We have checked in LIKP table, its containing the billing type as u201CZICu2019. But if packaging material is added then, the billing type determination is not happening.
We are assuming that some customizing needs to be done from MM/SD point of view. I am seeking the experts help regarding this issue to solve the problem.

Thanks for the Feedback.
Even though it is a associated company, in one company code the packaging material stock was reduced and packed for the STPO shipment.
After receiving the consignment, in the receiving company code they will perform the goods receipt with ref to "Outbound Delivery" document.
Since in the outbound delivery document "Packaging material" also available. So as a business strategy we are expecting the same "packaging material" also should available for goods receipt.
I hope i have explained with max of my knowledge to clear your doubt.

Userexit to update sales order no for packaging material during PGI

Hi,
Scenario is like this:-
1.Sales order will be created for material X
2.Delivery will take place and packaging of material X will take place.
3.The packaging material will come as a line item and we do PGI by picking the quantity.
4.Now when we see the accounting document for PGI,we get the sales order reference for X.
5.We are not getting the reference of Sales order no for packing material while seeing the accounting document in PGI.
6.Since the packing material is not maintained in Sales order thats why the sales order no is not getting updated in the accounting document.
7.NOW I WANT TO UPDATE THE SALES ORDER FIELD FOR PACKING MATERIAL ALSO ONCE THE PGI IS TAKING PLACE.
Can any one suggest me if there is any userexit to update the sales order field for accounting document of packing material once PGI happens.

Since packging material is not sales order item so it can't be accounted in PGI packging material is aour internal stock and not sellable stock.

No item generated for packaging material in delivery - packing (how?)

Hi all,
I am trying to customize packing for deliveries. I would like to have the packaging material as a line item in the delivery. I know this is possible but I can't seem to make it happen.
I have already ticked "Gen. pack.matl item" in my delivery type. Also, I have selected in the packaging type "B Item generation in first packed delivery" for "generatedlvItms" option.
Now, in the delivery after I packed the items, no line item was generated in the delivery for the packaging material. The "No. of Packages" in item overview is correct and the status is "C" completely packed. Btw, I am using manual packing here.
Is there some more configurations I missed here?

I assume that your basic HU configuration and master data have to be ok because you are able to pack your goods.
1) Are you able to add your item w/o HUM (=not by creating a HU, just adding the material as a simple item) to the delivery? /For this you need define a record in T184L (where usage "PACK" is not there)/.
If you are able it means that e.g. your delivery copy control settings are ok (V_TVCPLAK; delivery type: LF and sales doc type: DL --> HUPM/DLN item categories in your case)
2) If you are able to
- create the handling unit manually in the delivery
- add the packing item to the delivery (w/o HUM) and also have the T184L with usage "PACK"
- item generation is maintained for your packing material time "A" or "B" in field V_TVTY-KZPGN
- plant determination for packing material type ("A" or "B" in field V_TVTY-WERFD)
it should work in my opinion (for delivery type LF).

A handling unit is a physical unit that consists of the packaging materials (load carrier / packaging material) and the goods contained therein. A handling unit is always a combination of materials and packaging materials. All the information contained in the material items, such as batches and serial numbers, is always available by way of the handling units.
Packaging materials are intended to enclose or hold together the materials that are to be packed. In other words, the material that is to be packed can be packed into or onto the packaging material. The packaging material can be a load carrier. The most important packaging materials include crates, boxes, containers, wire baskets, and pallets.

This just tells me that you do not even know the basics of a material type.
SAP does not check the material type name, VERP and ROH is nothing else than a couple characters from the alphabet (in German language they even make some sense). You can create your own material type HUXX for handling units and if it is correctly setup then it will work.
How long do you consider yourself as a newcomer? you have registered in 2010. You started with SD, then MM (were all your questions got rejected because you failed to search) and now Logistics Execution (by the way I am moderator here too). And everywhere you were told to use Google to search prior to posting. Spend more time to increase the skills on searching, this gets you more benefits on the long run.
And in the 5th year with SAP and SCN you should at least know how to report an issue. If you have an error message, then tell the exact message along with the message number. Saying the setup is properly and then complaining that the system is asking for something else does not help to solve the issue, as it it just reflects your assumption but does not tell any facts.
If everything would be properly setup, then you would not have an issue. Does that sound logical?

Problem with Packaging Material Type

Hello all Gurus,
I have a problem with a packaging material type that I have created copying the standrad Packaging material type LEIH. I created a new packing material type ZPAC - Packaging Material copying LEIH.
I then created a new material master record using this new material type ZPAC.
When I am using this material for packing in outbound delivery document - VL01N, I am getting the following strange error message:
20333 does not have packaging material type and is therefore not a pack.mat.
Please suggest me why this error is coming and how I can rectify this error. Is there any further configuration that I need to do for packaging material types??? Kindly suggest.

Hi,
Material type is not enough, you have to maintain proper master data as well as config.
At least please maintain value in MARA-VHART for the packaging material. Please also check these links how HUM works:

Getting Batch from Packaging material Number (Batch characteristics)

I've a requirement.
i want to know the batches where the packaging material is used.
Packaging material is one of the batch characteristics, if i assign the same packaging material number in one batch, that should not be assigned to another batch.
I want to know in which batches the same packaging material is assigned.
Please guide me?? which table has the links for batch, packaging material number and main material number???

Packaging Material and Handling Unit Issue

Dear All,
Context: VL02N Outbound delivery (& packing)
I have 2 packaging material 1.box 2.carton
Finish product a,b,c,d etc
I want to put multiple finish product in a box then I want to put 3box in a carton.
I have VERP Packaging maerial
0001 Packaging material group (linked to finish product and packing product in General/Salesview)
0001 & 0002 packaing material type -box and carton (linked to two packaing material box and carton respectively in General/Salesview)
in HU02 T.Code I have attached finish products into a box and a HU got generated. ( Is there any movement happens???what happens when a HU get generated?)
Next I want to put 3box in a carton . How is it possible?

In HU02 (or HUMO) give all three HU numbers (for the boxes) in tab 'Pack HUs' and press enter. Bottom half of the screen shows all HUs that may be packed. Select all and press 'New HU per x HUs'. You will be prompted to enter the packaging material for new HUs while displaying packaging material for the existing HUs. Select as appropriate, enter number of existing HUs to be packed onto this new HU (3 in your case) and enter.

Hi All,
Iu2019m trying to create an external handling unit with the material below:
Packaging material: 2892
Packaging material type: Z501
Material Group: Packaging Materials: Z501
But the system creates de HU with the Packaging material type: 0001 instead Z501.
My question is.. How can I set the material or HU to take the Packaging material type Z501?
