How to accept a suggested keyword in Script Editor.app

There is a single reference to Script Assistant in Apple Docs: AppleScript Language Guide. It merely state the obvious:
“You can also turn on or off the Script Assistant, a code completion tool that can suggest
and fill in scripting terms as you type.”
What key do I press to accept the word being suggested? (…so much for user friendly the arrows and tab key don't work).
AS is one of the worst learn-a-new-programming-language experiences I've had. Cut and paste two line demo code from Excel 2004 and Applescript User Guide and it fails over and over again. Sytax is weird, verbose and non-intuiative for me at least.

The keys they chose definitely aren't very intuitive, but they are explained in the AppleScript Editor help - escape will accept the current completion, and as long as an ellipsis is next to the cursor there are multiple possibilities that can be shown by pressing option-escape (from there, a more normal up/down arrow and return select the choice).
The scripting dictionaries (if implemented at all) are entirely up to the developer, so the terms for any given application (or application version) will usually be different than those for another application, so you would need to check the dictionary by opening it in the Script Editor to see what the exact terms and their usage are.

  • Applescript Utility insists on non-existent Script Editor.app 2.1.2

    I recently got Script Editor to work after years of being bugged (was a 4 step process ending with replacing the resources folder in the package). It hadn't worked across several OSX clean installs, so there's no clue to what caused the corruption.
    Now, even though the Editor works, Utility only has 2.1.2 in it's pulldown. I have tried numerous times, including with a shut-down, to get this to "Select" the working Editor (2.1.1), but even though it is selected through the file-selector, it never gets set in the pulldown. The utility is 1.0. I've also checked system archives from 1, 2, and 3 years ago, and there has never been a version 2.1.2 on the computers we use.
    Will Applescript work properly with this incorrect listing for a non-existent version, and therefore unlocatable Editor? It would be very foolish to start writing scripts if the foundation upon which they are written is still fundamentally damaged. And will the only effect of this be that all Editor access must be done by clicking on an icon or alias?
    --Thanks

    The '2.1.2' version, which is only 404 kb, does not launch. Version 2.1.1 opens correctly and is 12.4 mb. Also, version '2.1.2' has a generic application icon (the pencil/paintbrush-A over blank document) whereas the 2.1.1 version has a script/pen icon if that helps. Both versions are, however, 2.1._ (either 2.1.1 or 2.1.2), not 2.2._, which I believe is the Leopard version that you had mentioned.
    I can't say for sure that this folder/app hasn't been in my finder for a while or not as it has only been as of this week that I switched my Finder's view from the standard icon view to 'columns' view without preview icons (that's how I noticed the duplicate folders with the same names stacked on top of each other). Thanks again for all your help.
    Best,
    John

  • How to accept user inputs from  sql script

    I want to create Tablespace useing sql script , but the location of the data file I need accept from user . (to get the location of the data file ) .
    How can I accept user input from pl/sql .
    Example :
      CREATE TABLESPACE  TSPACE_INDIA LOGGING
         DATAFILE 'H:\ORACLE_DATA\FRSDB\TSPACE_INDI_D1_01.dbf'
         SIZE 500M  AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT  1280K MAXSIZE UNLIMITED
         EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL;here I need to accept location of the datafile from user ie : 'H:\ORACLE_DATA\FRSDB\TSPACE_INDI_D1_01.dbf'

    Hi,
    Whenenever you write dynamic SQL, put the SQL text into a variable. During development, display the variable instead of executing it. If it looks okay, then you can try executing it in addition to displaying it. When you're finished testing, then you can comment out or delete the display.
    For example:
    SET     SERVEROUTPUT     ON
    DECLARE
        flocation     VARCHAR2 (300);
        sql_txt     VARCHAR2 (1000);
    BEGIN
        SELECT  '&Enter_The_Path'
        INTO    flocation
        FROM    dual;
        sql_txt :=  'CREATE TABLESPACE SRC_TSPACE_INDIA LOGGING
         DATAFILE' || flocation || ' "\SRC_TSPACE_INDI_D1_01.dbf" ' || '
         SIZE 500M  AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT  1280K MAXSIZE UNLIMITED
         EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL ';
        dbms_output.put_line (sql_txt || ' = sql_txt');
    --  EXECUTE IMMEDIATE sql_txt;
    END;
    /When you run it, you'll see something like this:
    Enter value for enter_the_path: c:\d\fubar
    old   5:     SELECT  '&Enter_The_Path'
    new   5:     SELECT  'c:\d\fubar'
    CREATE TABLESPACE SRC_TSPACE_INDIA LOGGING
         DATAFILEc:\d\fubar
    "\SRC_TSPACE_INDI_D1_01.dbf"
         SIZE 500M  AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT  1280K MAXSIZE
    UNLIMITED
         EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL  = sql_txt
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.This makes it easy to see that you're missing a space after the keyword DATAFILE. There are other errrors, too. For example, the path name has to be inside the quotes with the file name, without a line-feed between them, and the quotes should be single-quotes, not double-quotes.
    Is there some reason why you're using PL/SQL? In SQL, you can just say:
    CREATE TABLESPACE SRC_TSPACE_INDIA LOGGING
    DATAFILE  '&Enter_The_Path\SRC_TSPACE_INDI_D1_01.dbf'
    SIZE 500M  AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT  1280K MAXSIZE UNLIMITED
    EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL;though I would use an ACCEPT command to given a better prompt.
    Given that you want to use PL/SQL, you could assign the value above to sql_txt. If you need a separate PL/SQL variable for flocation, then you can assign it without using dual, for example:
    DECLARE
        flocation     VARCHAR2 (300)     := '&Enter_The_Path';The dual table isn't needed very much in PL/SQL.

  • How to accept alphabets with IP IVR script

    Hi All,
    I was wondering if it is possible to accept alphabet inputs via IP IVR script on Version 8.0.
    If it is possible, pleaes help me with steps on how can this be achieved.
    My basic requirement is that
    - Caller calls IVR
    - Enters first name of the person to whom caller wants to speak, this will be done via touch pad on the phone
    - Call gets connected to the person
    This is possible in Alcatel systems, but i am not sure about Cisco systems.
    Any help would be great.

    The compatibility guide lists all of the languages for which there are system prompts:
    IVR PromptsArabic, Cantonese (Hong Kong), Chiese (Mandarin), Czech, Danish, Dutch, English (AU, CA, GB, US), Finnsh, French (CA, FR), German, Hebrew (IL), Hunarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Mandarin (Taiwan), Norwgian, Polish, Portuguese (BR), Russian, Spanish (CO, ES, MX, US), Swedish, Thai, Turkish
    Source:
    https://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cust_contact/contact_center/crs/express_compatibility/matrix/crscomtx.pdf
    I see that Polish support is there; however, what I don't see is the country specific support for it, as we see for example Spanish supports: Columbia.
    With that said, I tried to just enter into the Trigger: pl instead of pl_PL and it still played English for me.
    I'm trying to get my hands on a folder listing of the Prompts/system/ folder to see what the language folder is called.
    EDIT:
    I found the Prompts folder on the ISO image of UCCX 9.0, and the polish language folder is certainly: pl_PL.
    Prompts\system\G711_ULAW\pl_PL\User Dialog\name_dial.wav
    Not too mention the file does play in Polish as near as I can tell.  I have attached it here.  This looks like a defect.  You will need to open a TAC case, which you should be able to do right from this post.  Just look in the upper right corner for a link/button to open a support case.
    Post back the resolution for everyone else my friend.  Thanks for bringing this up.

  • External Script Editors?

    Does anybody have suggestions for external script-editors
    that work with
    Lingo? I've tried the usual searches, but the first several
    pages of Google
    all seem to link to the same program (lingo script editor
    0.42) whose
    website is now defunct - www.creative-inspiration.net (Don't
    bother clicking
    that link, there's nothing there.) I don't know if that
    specific program
    is what I'm looking for (can't even get a screenshot), but
    it's the only one
    that seems to appear on searches, and it doesn't even exist
    anymore, so I
    don't know where else to look. Ideally, something that works
    from within
    the Director authoring environment would be best, I'm not
    sure how many fit
    the bill for that, but I'm getting pretty sick of all the
    annoying bugs and
    lack of features in the default internal editor. (Is
    highlighting of
    corresponding parentheses too much to ask? Every other code
    editor in the
    world does it, but not Director's for some reason. Also
    collapsable code
    blocks would be nice, and a "what links here" feature like on
    wikis to track
    code a bit better would be really invaulable. Heck, even a
    back-button to
    go back to the last script you were working on? Nah, that's
    just asking too
    much.)

    Is there a different version of HiEditor somewhere? Because
    the one you
    pointed me to doesn't seem to have any such features at all,
    basically just
    seems to be Notepad with tabs. The Options menu doesn't seem
    to have
    anything that would allow you to do script highlighting,
    auto-indent, or
    basically anything except font and size. There's also no Help
    file at all,
    nor any info on the site about how to use this.

    I looked at UltraEdit - played around with the shareware
    version a bit.
    Looks like it's got most of the features I was looking for,
    though certain
    things I can't get to work properly. (e.g. Auto-indents for
    case
    statements, proper indenting of lines with if/then and
    command on the same
    line, a few others) Also $50 is a bit steep for a
    text-editor, I think.
    Maybe I can get my boss to pay for it, (though not if it
    comes at the cost
    of my paycheck, you know how it is...)

  • Is Script Editor 2.0 latest?

    Script Editor seems to have disappeared from my machine. I've been using Smile, so I didn't miss it, but now I want to test with Script Editor before I deliver an AppleScript to a client who doesn't have need nor want Smile.
    Apple->Support->Downloads offers Script Editor 2.0 that works with Jaguar and up. Is this really the latest available?
    My client recently installed Tiger. Can I expect Script Editor 2.0 to be on his machine, or might I have to load it?
    I wonder what happened to my copy? I don't normally throw Apple apps away.

    Spyros: The folder of interest in your Applications folder is not "Script" but "AppleScript". Is that folder empty?
    Dott: I guess it would be great, but it feels weird. Apple must have a solution here somewhere.
    Let me suggest that either of you post a fresh question, as this one has already been "answered". Perhaps doing so will attract someone more knowledgable on this point.

  • Installer launches Script Editor

    I am trying to reinstall After Effects and the installer only launches Script Editor. same thing happened when I tried to install a printer package.
    This is really frustrating, any help would be gladly received.

    I am not familiar with this software. Is the installer an installer package (ie. does it have an icon that looks like an open cardboard box)?
    If not, the installer for this software may be a self contained application which may have incorrectly become associated with "Script Editor.app". Unsetting this association can be accomplished by resetting the "Launch Services" database one way or another, but as a short term workaround, try adding the extension ".app" to the installer to see if it will run.
    If the installer has the icon as described above, ignore the previous paragraph.

  • Problems when using RUNLOGIC Keyword in Script Logic

    Hello experts,
    I have a problem using RUNLOGIC keyword within Script logic. Both scripts are mentioned below.
    Following scenario:
    - combination of DESTINATION_APP and LOOKUP to multiply values from two source applications in order to to write results in target application
    - data volume in source application VALCHAIN are approx 187.000 records; source app SALES = 500 records
    - created data records in target application QUANTITIES are approx 204.000 records
    Running LOGIC01_QUANTITIES.LGF without "RUNLOGIC" keyword:
    - time to execute logic and write records: 10-12 minutes
    - created records 204.000
    Running LOGIC01_QUANTITIES.LGF via CALL_RUNLOGIC.LGF
    - script does not finish; system produces dumps
    - Tcode ST22 shows error messages called "TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED" as well as "SYSTEM_NO_ROLL" as well as "CALL_FUNCTION_SEND_ERROR"
    Does anybody have a guess for that? Any answer appreciated.

    Hello,
    This error comes up when there is no enough memory.
    How many members do you have in PRODUCT and how many parallel processes did you set up in PARALLELSCRIPT?
    Also, I'd suggest to put *XDIM_MEMBERSET PRODUCT = %PRODUCT_SET% in your LOGIC01_QUANTITIES.LGF script.
    Did you get anything in RUNLOGIC log? In UJFS you can find logs for every parallel process ran, name if it is just it's time stamp.
    Can you see from those what scripts ran and with what parameters?
    This should simplify resolution of your issue.

  • Minimum How many dimension required for FDM integration Script

    Hi Gurus
    I have only 2 dimensions in my SQL Table name dbo.ABC (Example: 1.Entity 2.Account and amount(data value)
    Example:
    USA, SALES, 50000
    (Including value its total 3 dimensions)
    How to export this data to Target HFM Application.
    Integration Script got success when i click on validation it is shows only 2 dimension 1.Account 2.Entity. i have mapped correctly. but validation screen not showing anything. i got gold fish for validation button and Export is also showing success and got goldfish. but no data is exported to HFM application.
    in FDM outbox its created a file which is containing only *!data* text. There is no record in this file.
    I want to load the data with rest of the dimensions with [None] member combination as i don't have the additional dimensions in my source file.
    Minimum how many dimension required to export the data from FDM to HFM?
    regards
    Taruni

    Hi,
    I came to know, at least one member from the source file should be there in the integration script then only we can assign at least [None] member or any member for the target dimensions.
    My source file having only 3 dimensions ( USA,Sales,Amount)
    1.USA,2.Sales,3.$50000
    Import Screen Dimensions:
    1.Source-FM-Entity
    2.Source-FDM-Account
    3.Account Description
    4.SourceICP
    5.SourceCustom1
    6.SourceCustom2
    7.SourceCustom3
    8.SourceCustom4
    9.Amount
    In the integration script its taking the values as
    Source-FM-Entity(0)
    Source-FDM-Account(1)
    Account Description
    SourceICP
    SourceCustom1
    SourceCustom2
    SourceCustom3
    SourceCustom4
    Amount(2)
    above it shows only 0,1,2 numbers are assigned to source dimensions.
    As my source file having only 3 Dimension so it is taking only 3 dimensions shown below. rest of the dimensions it is not showing in the import screen.
    *0.Source-FM-Entity,1.Source-FDM-Account,2.Amount*
    If i assign any values(3-9) to next dimensions or if I left blank rs.fields("txtAcctDes") with its showing below error messages:
    Error: An error occurred importing the file.
    Detail: Item cannot be found in the collection corresponding to the requested name or ordinal.
    At line: (39 and 42-46)
    So i have assigned Source-FDM-Account Number<font color="Blue">(rs.fields(1) </font>Value to rest of the dimensions in my integration script.
    <font color="Blue">rsAppend.Fields("Account") = rs.fields(1).Value</font>
    rsAppend.Fields("Desc1") = rs.fields(1).Value
    rsAppend.Fields("ICP") = rs.fields(1).Value
    rsAppend.Fields("UD1") = rs.fields(1).Value
    rsAppend.Fields("UD2") = rs.fields(1).Value
    rsAppend.Fields("UD3") = rs.fields(1).Value
    rsAppend.Fields("UD4") = rs.fields(1).Value
    Now am able to import the data into import screen, And i found all the above member names as Sales as i assigned Account dimension number(1) to these members temporarily to succeed the import process . Then i have mapped to Target dimensions with [None] member combination as these members are not in original source file. Then rest of the process Export and Check is done perfectly.
    *<font color="red">1.Am i right?? Please suggest me the correct process?</font>*
    *<font color="red">2.Can we use blank values in Integration Script as mentioned below??</font>*
    rsAppend.Fields("Desc1") = rs.fields("txtAcctDes").Value
    rsAppend.Fields("Account") = rs.fields("txtAcct").Value
    rsAppend.Fields("Entity") = rs.fields("txtCenter").Value
    *1.Added value*
    Example: rsAppend.Fields("Desc1") = rs.fields("1").Value
    *2.Blank Value*
    rsAppend.Fields("Desc1") = rs.fields("txtAcctDes").Value

  • How to accept XML file in BSP .

    Hi experts,
    We are implementing PAYMENT GATEWAY application in BSP,
    The requirement is like we will divert our user on BANK for the payment,
    at the end of payment procedure the bank will diver again that user on our site,
    The moment we get user back on our site we have to give confirmation to the bank by sending some parameters,
    till now everything is going fine,
    But Now bank will send 1 XML file to us having some parameters  for the final confirmation,
    so my problem is that how to accept that page from bank and read that parameters.
    is there any provision in BSP to Accept XML file from some third party on internet,
    We are suppose to provide a url to bank for this final confimation,
    so what this url will be if i have to accept xml file on this,
    will a normal BSP url will do or we have to go for some other method .
    XML file structure send by BANK.
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>
    <Verify  PER='451sdf' TAL='400' REF=’ABCD123412341234’
    STATUS='SUCCESS'>
    </Verify>

    Hi Paresh,
    many thousands of thankyou's for awarding me all those wonderful points. I can't begin to tell you what a magnanimous and generous benefactor you are. I hope you don't mind if I make a copy of those valuable points and frame them up on my wall so that I can forever remember their significance and the wonderful being that bequested them upon my unworthy self.
    Sheesh!! Okay - sarcasm itch has been successfully scratched.
    Now onto your questions.
    A HTTP request handler is a class that "handles" HTTP requests. In other words it is the piece of ABAP code that gets lauched when the HTTP request comes into the ICF from the HTTP client. The online help has guidance on how to build your own at http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/72/c730dac06511d4ad310000e83539c3/frameset.htm and there are several blogs in SDN on this as well.
    I mentioned you could also do it using the BSP runtime as well if you wanted. This just means building a BSP application to receive the HTTP request from your bank, extract the XML payload, and then build a XML response. The code I provided on my previous response shows how to access the HTTP request payload contents.
    If you do not have anyone in your organisation who knows how to do this then I suggest you source a suitably experienced programmer to do the development for you.
    I have tested the link I sent you and it works fine for me. If you are still having trouble search for "Simple Transformation" in the SAP Online Help.
    Cheers

  • How  to debug BDC , Dialog program and Script

    Hi all,
    Please let me know, how to  debug BDC , Dialog program and Script
    Thanks&Regards
    Devi

    <b>SCRIPT DEBUGGING</b>
    When we want to debug the SAPSCRIPT, we need to first activate the debugger, we have 2 ways to activate the Debugger.
    1) Execute the program RSTXDBUG
    2) Go to SE71, from the initial screen enter the form name and press Utilities --> Activate Debugger
    When we are in the Debug screen,
    3.1) F5 will be debug filed by field, that means if a single line is having 5 fields, if we press the F5 this will do field by field,
    3.2) F6 will be line by line, that means when we press the F6, it will debug the line and it will go to the next line. F7 also do the same way
    3.3) F8 will be very useful when we have any include statement in the SCRIPT, if any include is there and we press the F5 or F6 then this will go that Include (normally SO10 or any transaction text), then if we want line by line debugging then we can press the F5 or F6, or if you want to execute that in a single shot then press the F8, then the debugger will be executed that include and come back to the Script debugging.
    Some times in the script, we may right lengthy lines, if we want to debug that whole line, we have an option called Left/Right, this we will find the Debug screen of the script, there is a Push button, we can make use this button to debug.
    We can put the breakpoints in the SCRIPT DEBUGGER also, just press the BREAKPOINT Pushbutton from the debugging screen or press EDIT --> Breakpoint
    If we want to debug the print program from the SCRIPT DEBUGGER, just press SHIFT+F7 or EDIT --> ABAP Debugging
    If we want to see the Windows which are defined in the forms, just press the Go to --> Form --> Windows .if we want to see the pages go to --> Form --> pages. Here we have an option to see the page wise window also go to --> Form --> page Windows
    If we want to see the paragraphs which are defined in that script, press go to --> Styles --> paragraphs.
    If we want to see the Character formats which are defined in that script, press go to --> Styles --> Character Strings.
    If we want to see the Page formats which are defined in that script, press go to --> OTF --> Page.
    If we want to see the Elements which are used in the Script, then press go to --> Text Elements --> Form Elements.
    If we want to see the commands which are used in the script, press go to --> Commands --> List
    Finally, if we want to exit from the SCRIPT DEBUGING, simply press Debugger --> Exit
    <b>DEBUG BDC</b>
    ust go into debugging mode and do the BDC step by step, when it comes to the Call Transaction line, check the mode which will be 'N'....Now, overwrite this with 'A' and execute the BDC...It will run in All Screens Mode....
    As suggested above the MODE 'A' will do the trick as it takes you to all screens.
    Normally MODE N will be defaulted as it will be used for background processing,
    Here is a simple tip,
    This will be the call transaction part of the program,
    CALL TRANSACTION 'IW32' USING BDCDATA MODE 'N'
    MESSAGES INTO MESSTAB.
    I would suggest you to make it like this,
    DATA: V_MODE TYPE C VALUE 'N'.
    *<In debug mode set V_MODE = 'A' for debugging>
    CALL TRANSACTION 'IW32' USING BDCDATA MODE V_MODE
    MESSAGES INTO MESSTAB.
    This will be very useful because you just need to change the value of the V_MODE at runtime as A for debugging besides it has N which is the default to be used. (i.e. you need not change the code again and again).
    This will be very useful when you have to debug some program in QA or PRD servers.
    regards,
    srinivas

  • How to protect source of your precious scripts

    Hi all,
    This short topic is dedicated to all script writters, who wants to keep their scripts out of reach for third persons.
    The main framework we'll be talking about is the simple directive called #targetengine.
    As we all know, even some of the simplest scripts we made can be really powerfull and lucrative. This is the main reason why we may want to keep them out of range for other people and our employers.
    This is the moment where #targetengine directive comes handy.
    OK, lets get started.
    #targetengine is getting two (as far as I know) basic parameters.
    - main (which destroys all the variables/function definitions after scripts is executed)
    - session (which keeps all the stuff while application is still running).
    You can also make your own global spaces and call them whatever you want to, but we'll be working on just two of these.
    In first place, try to copy and paste this simple script to your extended toolscript and try to run it.
    #target illustrator
    #targetengine "main"
    alert(msg);
    alert(var1);
    safeFunction();
    It does not work! You will get a message that both of these variables are not defined and safeFunction is not a function, and thats good.
    Now, try to run this script and then run the other one.
    #target illustrator
    #targetengine "session"
    var msg = "this is a message";
    var var1 = 4345;
    function safeFunction()
              showMsg();
    function showMsg()
              alert(msg +"\n"+ var1);
    As you have probably already noticed, the 2nd script works like a charm now.
    No matter how experienced coders you are, I suggest you to always keep your property safe, and this is the best way of making your scripts safe.
    Have a nice day,
    Igor
    PS. excuse me my english.

    Your English seems perfectly fine, no worries there, thanks for sharing.

    I am just curious however how does this approach keep scripts safe, out of reach and protected from third parties, in what capacity?

  • How to calc accumulate rate in a script logic?

    Hi experts,
    We are trying to generate a monthly accumulate rate in a script logic. We have a Unit rate in 12 months and we want UnitAccum rate (like YTD) in the same 12 months
    Finally, we need to use this new rate in a multiplication.
    How can we do it with a script logic? Any idea out there?
    Kind regards
    Albert Mas

    Hi Ethan,
    You are understanding ok
    We are working on SAP BPC NW version 7.0, SP05, and at the moment, it's impossible to update to SP08.
    We have done all the following tests, trying to find some solution, under these conditions (we knew that some tests weren't going to work well, but anyway, we had to try them):
    - always for only one product (*XDIM_MEMBERSET PRODUCT=Product1)
    - UNITS and UNITACCUM are ACCOUNT base members
    - UCostVtaAcumDimFor is an ACCOUNT Formula Base Member ([ACCOUNT].[UNITS],[MEASURES].[FYTD])
    - FYTD is a Measures base member for Fiscal Year To Date (we use it because we want to see as Year to Date (YTD) as Fiscal Year To Date (first month of the year is September and the last one is August) (it works well)) (We have also tested on YTD instead of FYTD, with the same results)
    (1)
    *XDIM_MEMBERSET TIEMPO=2010.FEB
    [ACCOUNT].[#UNITACCUM] = ([ACCOUNT].[UNITS],[MEASURES].[FYTD])
    *COMMIT
    Result: MEASURES not specified. Failed
    (2)
    *XDIM_MEMBERSET TIEMPO=2010.FEB
    *WHEN ACCOUNT
    *IS UNITS
    *REC(EXPRESSION=([ACCOUNT].[UNITS],[MEASURES].[FYTD]), ACCOUNT=UNITACCUM)
