How to access jar files

Hello,
I've created a web application using servlets and jsp.
Under Tomcat/webapps dir, I created my project dir and copied jsp files there, whereas copied all the java and class files under webapps/projectdir/WEB-INF/classes/mypackage. I also created a web.xml file under WEB-INF dir with my servlets mapping. I aslo created a lib dir under WEB-INF and copied jstl.jar and standard.jar in there. So far my application runs fine.
Now I've to include some jar files that will be providing data from the backend to my servlet. I can't have .class files instead of .jar files, that is the restriction the way the backend files are built.
Can anyone tell me how to make Tomcat access those jar files.
Thanks.

Ok then. I think the page you should read is [Tomcat 5 classloader documentation|http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-5.5-doc/class-loader-howto.html], though they simplified the structure in [Tomcat 6|http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-6.0-doc/class-loader-howto.html].
Normally the classpath of a web application is restricted to
- WEB-INF/classes directory
- jar files in WEB-INF/lib
- jar files in the server /lib directory.
So if you have a common library that is used by multiple web applications, you could give each web-app their own individual copy of that library in WEB-INF/lib, or you could have them all use the same one in the server lib directory. There are pros and cons to both approaches.
Cheers,

At every start-up, I get a pop-up titled Java Virtual Machine Launcher. The message says "Unable to access jar file". C:\users\user\.jnana.jnana.tsa.
Any idea how to fix this?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Help! How to create Jar file for a packaged class?

    Hi!
I am new in jar complexities. I made a swing frame that just prompts a JOptionPane when executed. I accomplished the same using jar without packaging my class SwingTest.
But when i package it, it doesn't run. Can any one tell me how to make jar file of packaged classes and include images in the jar files too!
    Really Thanx!

Call the Jar from the commandline to see the exceptions thrown.
    java -jar <jarFileName> <className>

HDD is a Toshiba 1TB, partitioned into two 500GB partitions.

Yes, sharing a TM disk is a bad idea, and disks are cheap enough so that you don't need to.
    Now
Have you tried to repair the disk yet

  • How to include .jar files in coldfusion code

To Integrate our cfm code with paypal jar files we do the
following steps with our local coldfusion server ,and to run and
integrate the paypal Java SDK jar files, I think we need to do the
same process on the server, can you suggest any thing to do the
following setting for my domain on the server, without setting the
    class path in coldfusion administrator.
The ColdFusion application server must be configured to know
the location of the PayPal JAR
files, and your ColdFusion Markup (CFM) pages must be
configured with the absolute path to
the PayPal API certificate for the PayPal API user on whose
    behalf the calls are made.
    1. Install the PayPal Java SDK “Installing the
    SDK”.
    2. Copy a subset of the Java SDK JAR files to a location
    accessible by the ColdFusion
application server. The JAR files are in SDK_root\lib and
    their exact names are as
    follows:
    – bcmail-jdk14-128.jar
    – bcprov-jdk14-128.jar
    – paypal_base.jar
    – paypal_stubs.jar
    sax2.jar
    – xerces.jar
    – xpp3-1.1.3.4d_b4_min.jar
    – xstream.jar-1.1.3.jar
    3. With the ColdFusion Application Server Administrator, add
    the absolute path of the
location you determined in Step 2 to the Java and JVM
    CLASSPATH environment variable.
    4. Restart the ColdFusion Application Server.
Suggest me how to include .jar files without setting
    classpath.

    > Suggest me how to include .jar files without setting
    classpath.
Copy them to {CF_HOME}\lib, where {CF_HOME} is, for example,
    C:\CFusionMX7. Restart Coldfusion.

  • How to access host files?

    how to access host files?

Easy and not depends on your software version:
press Shift+cmd+G while your finder window is open and active, you will get a new window with the field where you can write /etc/hosts
Anyway to edit hosts file you should open it with the sudo command, this can be done in terminal window, not in Finder. Also easy and can be done next way:
press Shift+Cmd+U while Finder window is open and active, then choose Terminal.app, and after it opens enter sudo nano /etc/hosts. You will be asked for password - this is the password you enter then you installing new application. You should know few commands to edit your hosts file:
Previoius page/Next Page of the file - Ctrl+Y/Ctrl+V
Add record - Input the text you need on the last free line of the file and then press Ctrl+O
Delete record - put cursor on the line you want to delete and press Ctrl+K
    Undo - Ctrl+U
    Exit - Ctrl+X
After edit your hosts file you should update DNS records - in terminal window enter the command dscacheutil -flushcache
But if you really don't know what are you doing, my advice is do not touch your hosts file, ask for professional to do his job. Just like I'm doing usually. )))

    Hi Rajesh,
JAR file in itself in not deployable.
So v need to envelop this jar file into an EAR file and then v deploy this EAR file on SDM.
    Creating Jar
Inside NWDS --> Windows --> Open perspective --> J2EE Development --> right click on ur proj --> Build EJB Archive
    Converting .EAR file to .SDA
    Converting .EAR file to .SDA

  • How to make Jar files in JBuilder

I would like to know how to make jar files using JBulider. I have a problem with a project that I am working with in Swing. I have made the project on JBuilder and when I make a jar file it will not run upon clicking.
Any body with an answer, please help

It sounds like your Main-Class is not set properly in your manifest. To set your Main-Class, please follow these directions:
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/jar/basics/run.html

  • How to add jar files which point to project

when i create project in jse8 i added jar files form system.
then when i move that project to another system it is asking for jar files.it is pointing to location from where we added.
how to make jar files available locally so that i can move anywhere.

This might be a CRUDE solution, but it helps :-)
    1. Create a new folder (e.g. lib) under your project
    2. Copy the interested Jars to the folder. ( I am not sure how to do from within the IDE, I just copied the jars using Explorer.
    3. Right-Click on the Libraries Node to add the Jars and Add them from the folder created in step 1.
    This works... :-)

  • How to make jar files availabe for deployed EJBs

    Hi,
I'm interested on how to make jar files availabe for deployed EJBs.
My EJB is packed in an ear. It uses a util jar. I now just add the jar to the
classpath, but I think that shouldn't be the way. Is there somthing in the admin
console to make jars available or do I have to insert it in the ear file? And
if so, where do I hve to place it?
    Thanks
    Claudia

Put the util.jar in the ear with your ejb jars - at the same level (i.e. in
the root) - but do not include them in the manifest.xml.
Also each ejb jar that refers to util.jar must have util.jar on its internal
    classpath in the manifest.

  • How many Ways jar files from ear file on a jboss can be downloaded on clien

    Aoa
How many Ways jar files from ear file on a jboss can be downloaded on client side
    like jnlp etc..
    Regards
    M Fazal Ur Rehman

First, you need to be able to boot from the Recovery HD:
    Boot Using Command+R keys:
      1. Restart the computer.
      2. Immediately after the chime press and hold down the
"COMMAND" and the "R" keys together.
      3. Release the keys when the Utilities Menu appears.
Once at the Utilities Menu select Terminal from the Utilities menu in the screen's menubar. Now, you need to know where these new files are located. You move to any location using the 'cd' command such as cd /Users/user_name/Documents, then press RETURN. Replace user_name with your actual username. Next you need to do a directory listing to see if your files are in that location, Documents. Use ls -al to do a directory listing of the files and folders in Documents. If you find your new files there, then connect an external drive or flash drive. You will need to know the name you have assigned to this drive. It needs to be already formatted. Copy your files using cp /Documents/filename /Volumes/volname/filename. Replace volname and filename with those that apply. Press RETURN.
Or take it to your local Apple Store and see if they can do the chore for you.
