  • ADF BC how to access session backing bean value in servlet

    Hi everyone,
    How do I access session backing bean value in a servlet?

    Frank, thanks for your reply.
    I'm not sure how I can incorporate this example into my situation. Let me explain more detail about my problem.
    "servlet" in my post here actually means a custom servlet I wrote for rendering an image that is stored in db as ordimage. In this servlet, I get hold of my appmodule by using Configuation.createRootApplicationModule(). By doing so (If I'm not wrong) a new database session/connection is created. What I'm going to achieve is set application context for this new session/connection in db with the data stored in a session backing bean in the view layer.
    I can pass the required data to the servlet thru url parameter, but I don't want to do it this way for the reason that the data may contains sensitive information.
    I hope I have explained myself well.

  • Need help on how to access session object in javaBean

    Hi All,
              I am new to JSP. I have writen a java helper class which gets some data
              from a Session Bean.
              I want to use <jsp:useBean scope="session"> directive in the JSP.
              The helper class requires the reference to session Object to initialize
              itself.
              It looks like I can only pass Strings Or Basic data Type using
              <jsp:setProperty> directive. I want the helper class to initialize only
              once per session.
              I am using weblogic 4.5 and jdk 1.1.7B.
              Need help soon.
              Thanks in Advance
              Regards

    Arun,
              You need only create a method on the bean and call it passing the request
              object which contains the
              session object. You need not scope to session if you don't need to as well
              ie
              <jsp:useBean id=foo class= myclass.foo scope="session">
              <%
              foo.init(reqeust);
              %>

  • Should we try to access session scope in ADF BC ?

    hi
    In the blog post "How to Access Session Scope in ADF BC "
    at http://andrejusb.blogspot.com/2012/01/how-to-access-session-scope-in-adf-bc.html
    Andrejus Baranovskis suggests it is no problem to access session scope in ADF BC using
    Map sessionScope = ADFContext.getCurrent().getSessionScope();But I wonder if this is really a good practice, as it looks very much like breaking the MVC pattern.
    At the same time I wonder where the Oracle documentation says this would be a good or bad idea.
    One starting point could be the ADFContext.getCurrent() method
    at http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24382_01/apirefs.1112/e17486/oracle/adf/share/ADFContext.html#getCurrent%28%29
    that starts with saying "Gets the ADF context for the current thread. ..." which in a typical deployment scenario of ADF BC might not cause a problem.
    But, I wonder how defensive your programming should be when using the getSessionScope() method in your ADF Business Component code (that implements the Model).
    Ideas and feedback welcome.
    many thanks
    Jan Vervecken

    Hi Shay,
    Reviewing ADFContex methods it seems that this object shouldn't be accessible from BC. Example:
    public static ADFContext initADFContext(java.lang.Object context,
                                            java.lang.Object session,
                                            java.lang.Object request,
                                            java.lang.Object response)
        Initializes the ADFContext for the environment of the specified context.
        Parameters:
            context - the ServletContext or PortletContext of the current execution environment.
            session - the HttpSession or PortletSession of the current execution environment. OPTIONAL.
            request - the HttpServletRequest or PortletRequest of the current execution environment. OPTIONAL.
            response - the HttpServletResponse or PortletResponse of the current execution environment. OPTIONAL.
        Returns:
            the ADFContext that was current when init was invoked. Should be passed back to resetADFContext after the block requiring the ADFContext has completed.Kuba

    Hi! The Portal Developer's Guide 10g Release 10.1.4, section 7.2.5 shows how to access session information from PDK portlets. I'm looking for information (tutorials, books) on how to do this from JPS portlets in the Oracle Portal environment.

    If u are using JSPProvider, then for getting the Session variable, peruse the below points:
    JSPProvider p=(JSPProvider)pageContext.getAttribute("JSPProvider");
    Session ses=p.getSession();

  • How do I access session data through an EJB?

    Hi
    How do I access session data through an EJB?
    I am currantly developing a Web service (using ejb's, JBoss.net and Apache Axis). A client making a call to this Web service, is expecting a bussiness-object in return. My problem is that this bussiness-object i stored in a users session data. How do I retrieve this bussiness-object from the users session.
    I have read that this does not work with httpsessions, is this true? If this is true, is it possible to store the bussiness object in a JavaBean e.g:
    <jsp:useBean id="userContextWebImpl" scope="session" class="com.ac.march.client.UserContextWebImpl">
    <%
    String key = "test";
    String value = "This is the value";
    userContextWebImpl.setValue( key, value1 );
    %>
    </jsp:useBean>
    and then retrieve this information through the EJB? Or is it possible to do this by using Statfull JavaBeans? Or can this be done through a nother solution?
    Please help!

    I have created a JavaBean with scope="application" to store some data. The data is stored when a user prefomes a spesific task.
    A different person then makes a call to a Web-Service on the server. The Web-Service then asks an EJB to retrieve the data stored in the JavaBean (servlet cotext). In other words: How do I retrieve this data from the EJB?
    I have tried with this code, but with no luck.
    (ApplicationContextWebImpl is the JavaBean)
    public static String getBookingResult( String key )
         String myResult = null;
         String myKey = key;
         ApplicationContextWebImpl applicationContextWebImpl = null;
         try
              applicationContextWebImpl = new ApplicationContextWebImpl();
              myResult = (String)applicationContextWebImpl.getValue( key );
         catch ( java.rmi.RemoteException e )
         return myResult;
    }

  • How To Access JSP Image file Path inside JavaBean Class

    In my Webapplication,i have jsp and javabeans files. i need to send one image file path contains in Image folder to JavaBean[MyBean.java].
    From MyBean i am trying to display that image using PdfGen Application[JAR] in a new PDF Document.
    The Web Application Structure is as
    MyWebApp
    Image
    \ mypic.gif
    JSP
    \myjsp.jsp
    WEB-INF
    classes
    \pack.MyBean.java
    My Question :
    Inside the webapplication[JSP] the image file is accessed as a URL.(like http://localhost:7001/mywebapp/Image/mypic.gif). but From JavaBean: How To access this file? becz inside javabean it needs a complete system path..How to solve this problem? plz send me any solutions related to my problem....Thank U.

    Dear Madruguinha!
    Thank you very much for your tips.
    but i find another one method for accessing the image.
    // Inside Servlet or JSP
    String realPath=getServletContext().getRealPath("Image"+"/pic1.gif");
    Now we can send this exact system path variable to any java beans or java class that needs the image path as "drivename:\foldername\filename" like "c:\myflolder\mypic.gif" and not web context path.

    hi,
    to share a session attr between a portlet and a servlet, you need to access the attribute in the application scope of the portlet ...
    Object o = portletRequest.getPortletSession(true).getAttribute(name, PortletSession.APPLICATION_SCOPE);you can then access the same attr from the HTTP session ...
    Object o = request.getSession(true).getAttribute(name);

  • How to access values in process request

    Hi guys,
    Wondering if some one could shed some light on the process of getting values in PR. The situation is that i have linked two pages and both have dateFrom and dateTo fields, the values of the fields are being copied across to the other page automatically. I would like to understand how.
    And the other is How is, how to access those values in Process Request. I want to use those dates as criteria for populating data when the user first opens the page.
    Any insight would be highly appreciated
    Regards,
    Shoaib.

    The situation is that i have linked two pages and both have dateFrom and dateTo fields, the values of the fields are being copied across to the other page automatically. I would like to understand how.
    If you have linked the pages, you would know how the values from one page is being transferred to the other page, this cannot happen automatically, you either must have 1. Passed them through URL
    2. Passed them through Session
    3. Have the same VO in both the pages and retaining the AM from P1 to P2.
    4. Requering the DB in P2 after saving the values in P1
    There could be number of ways you have done it.
    And the other is How is, how to access those values in Process Request. I want to use those dates as criteria for populating data when the user first opens the page.
    Depending on how you passed the values from P1 to P2, the method of getting these values in P2 PFR would vary, but in most cases pageContext.getParameter("paramname") should workThanks

    Inside a class extending System.Web.UI.Page, I use the
    secure.crmondemand.com/OnDemand/user/account.wsdl?WSDLOBJ=account web
    service to
    1. Create a list of accounts and specify the fields returned by the
    result set;
    2. Create an AccountWS_AccountQueryPage_Input object;
    3. Retrieve an AccountWS_AccountQueryPage_Output object;
    These are the three methods involved:
    protected void Page_Load(object sender, System.EventArgs e)
    Account1[] objListOfAccount;
    //Initialize the ListOfAccount Arrays and Sub-Arrays
    objListOfAccount = createListOfAccount("";
    //Specify the Account Search Criteria
    objListOfAccount[0].AccountName = "LIKE '" + data["Account"] + "*'";
    //Tell OnDemand What Account fileds should be returned in the result set
    objListOfAccount[0].AccountId = "";
    objListOfAccount[0].Location = "";
    //Tell OnDemand What fields to return on the Opportunity Child
    objListOfAccount[0].ListOfOpportunity[0].OpportunityId = "";
    objListOfAccount[0].ListOfOpportunity[0].OpportunityName = "";
    objListOfAccount[0].ListOfOpportunity[0].CurrencyCode = "";
    //Tell OnDemand What fields to return on the Opportunity Service Child
    objListOfAccount[0].ListOfRevenue[0].RevenueId = "";
    objListOfAccount[0].ListOfRevenue[0].OpportunityName = "";
    objListOfAccount[0].ListOfRevenue[0].NumberOfPeriods = "";
    objListOfAccount[0].ListOfRevenue[0].Frequency = "";
    objListOfAccount[0].ListOfRevenue[0].StartCloseDate = "";
    //Call the Account Query
    AccountWS_AccountQueryPage_Input objAccQryParam =
    new
    AccountWS_AccountQueryPage_Input();
    objAccQryParam.ListOfAccount = objListOfAccount;
    objAccQryParam.PageSize = "90";
    AccountWS_AccountQueryPage_Output objQryOutput =
    RetrieveQueryPageOutput(objAccQryParam, session);
    public Account1[] createListOfAccount(string pstrAccountDimensions)
    int intAccountCount = 1;
    int intOpportunityCount = 20;
    int intRevenueCount = 10;
    try
    Account1[] rtnListOfAccount = new Account1[intAccountCount];
    for (int intAccIdx = 0; intAccIdx < intAccountCount; intAccIdx++)
    rtnListOfAccount[intAccIdx] = new Account1();
    rtnListOfAccount[intAccIdx].ListOfOpportunity =
    new
    Opportunity[intOpportunityCount];
    rtnListOfAccount[intAccIdx].ListOfRevenue =
    new Revenue[intRevenueCount];
    for (int intOppIdx = 0; intOppIdx < intOpportunityCount;
    intOppIdx++)
    rtnListOfAccount[intAccIdx].ListOfOpportunity[intOppIdx] =
    new Opportunity();
    for (int intRevIdx = 0; intRevIdx < intRevenueCount; intRevIdx++)
    rtnListOfAccount[intAccIdx].ListOfRevenue[intRevIdx] =
    new Revenue();
    return rtnListOfAccount;
    catch (Exception objExcep)
    throw objExcep;
    public AccountWS_AccountQueryPage_Output RetrieveQueryPageOutput(
    AccountWS_AccountQueryPage_Input qpinput,
    Session session)
    AccountWS_AccountQueryPage_Output qpoutput = null;
    // instantiate the proxy service
    Account accountProxy = new Account();
    try
    // set up the target URL & set the session cookie
    accountProxy.Url = session.GetURL();
    accountProxy.CookieContainer = session.GetCookieContainer();
    qpoutput = accountProxy.AccountQueryPage(qpinput);
    catch (Exception e)
    Response.Write("<br/><br/>" + e.InnerException);
    Response.Write("<br/><br/>" + e.Message);
    Response.Write("<br/><br/>" + e.StackTrace);
    return qpoutput;

    Re: how to access Revenue records

    I found another way to access Revenue records. Instead of accessing the
    ListOfRevenue field of the Account web service, I access the ListOfProduct
    field of the Opportunity web service. I also instantiate Opportunity2
    objects so that the code to get a list of opportunities and products
    (containing revenue fields) becomes
    Opportunity2[] rtnListOfOpportunity = new
    Opportunity2[intOpportunityCount];
    try
    for (int intOppIdx = 0; intOppIdx < intOpportunityCount;
    intOppIdx++)
    rtnListOfOpportunity[intOppIdx] = new Opportunity2();
    rtnListOfOpportunity[intOppIdx].ListOfProduct =
    new Product[intProductCount];
    for (int intProdIdx = 0; intProdIdx < intProductCount;
    intProdIdx++)
    rtnListOfOpportunity[intOppIdx].ListOfProduct[intProdIdx] =
    new Product();
    return rtnListOfOpportunity;

    Weird. I'm not a big C# programmer but the code looks right. I'm curious -
    could you post some soap loads of the request. I'm wondering if there's
    something weird going on with the proxy.

    I Assume the following is your sample data
    Table Name: Tab1
    RegID CustID Registration_Start      Registration_End
    1      1      01/04/2005           07/04/2005
    2      2      01/03/2005           29/05/2005
    3      1      21/03/2005           29/03/2005
    4      1      01/03/2005           21/03/2005
    Note : For the Regid "4" I have changed the Registration_End to 21/03/2005. It was earlier 21/04/2005.
    Coming to the query, you need to generate the list of regid that have gaps.
    Try the following query:
    SELECT c.*
    FROM tab1 c
    WHERE c.reg_id NOT IN (
    SELECT a.reg_id
    FROM tab1 a, tab1 b
    WHERE a.cust_id = b.cust_id
    AND a.registration_end = b.registration_start
    Note: I am sorry I didn't have access to the data base to execute my query. Correct me if I am wrong.
