How to access to a "Variable" situated in a closed workbook

Hi
Considering a Name declared in a Workbook and called "myName" - this Name belong to the workbook.names collection but do not correspond to any cell or range.
I'd like to access to this name without being obiged to open the workbook where it is declared but so far all what I have tried failed... :(
- have tried ADODB but seems to be limited to named ranges
- have tried with Application.ExecuteExcel4Macro
but also seems to be working only for cells
---- Application.ExecuteExcel4Macro('C:\Path\[file.xls]Sheet1'!R1C1)
is working
---- Application.ExecuteExcel4Macro('C:\Path\file.xls'!myName)
is not working while I was expecting to :(

Please firstly check if the range name "myName" exists in the workbook file.xls, then try to add double quotation marks """ for the parameter of Application.ExecuteExcel4Macro, because it works fine for me in the following code:

The only way to pass values between JavaScript and JSP is through cookies. It sucks, I know, but right now that is the only option.
You already are creating a cookie in JavaScript. So go ahead and read it in Java:

You normally use a Servlet class for this. You can get request parameters by HttpServletRequest#getParameter() or #getParameterValues() then.
This is fairly trivial though. Please go through a decent JSP/Servlet book/tutorial first.

How to access %programfiles% environment variable in XML

I am trying to install BEA JRockit 1.4.2 JVM silently and I need help in modifying the silent.xml file. Typically, in batch files, one would use the environment variable %programfiles% to install to the system's program files directory. However I want to do this within the silent install file that BEA recommends. The line that I want to modify is:
<data-value name="USER_INSTALL_DIR" value="D:\Program Files\Java\jrockit-24.5.0-j2sdk1.4.2_08" />
To something more like:
<data-value name="USER_INSTALL_DIR" value="${programfiles}\Java\jrockit-24.5.0-j2sdk1.4.2_08" />
However this does not work for me. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Jaared,
You will have to create an additional wrapper that generates the silent.xml
of your choice with a value of USER_INSTALL_DIR based on the value of the
%PROGRAMFILES% environment variable. The value of USER_INSTALL_DIR is
currently interpreted literally and there does not exist any support for
expansion of environment variables in it. Based on your question we might
consider this feature for a future release though.

I have the below two entities with @OneToMany relationship between them,

Yes you can uncomment out that line if you want the fk column value without having to travers the relationship. The problem you are hitting when you do is because you then have the "emp_department_id" field defined twice. The error you are getting is because EclipseLink is currently case sensitive by default, so the JPA defined column name default for the emp_department_id attribute of "EMP_DEPARTMENT_ID" isn't matching the @JoinColumn(name="emp_department_id") since they are different cases - you should change the @JoinColumn so it uses an upper case field name to be consistent, ie
@JoinColumn(name="EMP_DEPARTMENT_ID") or set the EclipseLink eclipselink.jpa.uppercase-column-names property to true. This will then have the two fields match and will give you a more appropriate exception, that the field has two writable mappings.
Then you need make one of them read-only by adding the insertable=false, updateable=false to the annotation. You probably want to change the relationship, and so I'd make the int as read-only.

Accessing a private variable from a public method of the same class

can anyone please tell me how to access a private variable, declared in a private method from a public method of the same class?

Are you sure that you want to have everything static here? You're possibly throwing away all the object-oriented goodness that java has to offer.
Anyway, it seems to me that you can't get to that variable because it is buried within a method -- think scoping rules. I think that if you want to get at that variable your program design may be under the weather and may benefit from a significant refactoring in an OOP-manner.

How do I access the DCJMS* variables in my response SOAP:Header ?

I have set up a sync / async Integration Process in XI
This is initiated by a SAP R/3 transaction that calls a synchronous function to enter XI
Once in the Bridge, a JMS receiver adapter sends out an asynchronous request message from XI to MQ
A correlation allows the JMS sender adapter to return an asynchronous response message from MQ to XI back into my the Integration Process
I have set up the JMS sender adapter configuration to return the DC (dynamic configuration) variables in the <SOAP:Header> of the XI response message along with the payload

My compilation issue has gone via a SAP recommendation to specify the JDK home directory in the instance profile

The idea is to copy the correlation id of the response message into the acknowledgement message. But as you can see the result is NULL

You can do it this way, but I'm not sure if this is what you had in mind.
Say you had a java variable called XString. And you wanted to display
the value of XString in a javascript Alert. Here's how:

I'm working with a user exit and my problem is that in a particular moment I have to access variables located outside the scope of the user exit (they are in a standard program)
How can I reach these variables?

Hi,
If they are global variables then you can access them using Global assign technique,
For example,
FIELD-SYMBOLS: <fs_value> TYPE ANY.
ASSIGN ('(SAPMV45A)XVBAK') TO <fs_value>.
It is basically,
ASSIGN ('(<Std. Program Name>)<Variable name>') TO <field symbol>.
NOTE: To make sure they are accessible in your user exit, just put a break-point in the user exit and once you are there in debugging, type in,
(<Std. Program Name>)<Variable name> in the Field names section and if it does not show it in RED then it is accessible..
