How to accomplish a motion keyframe move across several clips?

I'm very familiar with how you acheive motion moves within one clip in
the timeline.
However, I can't figure out how to make two of three consequtive clips
make one continous motion move.
For instance, lets say I have three still digital images, 5 second each, in the timeline, one after another. I want the first still to start at 50% size and want a continuous growth to 100% at the end of the third clip. I know how'd I'd do
this within one clip (a motion keyframe of 50% at the head of the clip and a 100% keyframe at the end of the clip.
But how do you make one smooth continuous move across several clips in a row? I realize I could take those three clips, export them out as a quicktime and bring them back in as one clip, but that seems a long way to go everytime you want to do this. And if I nest the three clips, when I go to doubleclick them back to the viewer to add the keyframes, the nest just opens up again into it's own sequence.
So how is this accomplished?
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Does anyone know how to apply a video effect across several clips in a sequence, as opposed to doing each clip individually?

Nest the sequence and apply the effect to the nested sequence.

  • How would I remove Motion embedded content from a clip in FCP?

    Hi,
I have a couple of clips I want to return back to just video clips. I sent them to Motion and put text and shapes on them and now changed my mind. How do I get rid of the Motion embedded content on these clips?
    Thanks

Marco - did you not hear what Mark said? When you "Send to Motion", you get all the clips you are sending in a SEPARATE sequence in the FCP browser. The sequence is called the same name as your Motion project. So if your Motion project is called "Lower3rd", you now have an FCP sequence in your browser (as well as the Motion project) called "Lower3rd". You need only open up that sequence in the FCP timeline, copy the clips and paste them back in your original sequence. Bingo - no more Motion project in your timeline.
    Make sense?

  • I movie : add several clips in one step

    Hello,
how can I add several clips (which are still on my iphone) in one step to a new i movie project?
    best greetings
    Heike

To make them "fly" you have to keyframe each clip; inserting a keyframe where you want the clip to "take off" and inserting another keyframe where you want the clip to "land"
After you've set the keyframes you have to go into the Motion tab and adjust the settings how you'd like them for both the "take off" and "land" keyframes.
Or you can go to the frame that has the keyframe on it then in the viewer you can move the clip to where you'd like.
I do stuff like this all the time. Here's an example:
    Jacob singing about 7-11 Hot-Dogs
    And here's another one:

  • Help:  Constant scalaing speed across several clips.

    Senior moment again, I'm afraid.
I have a sequence containing many single talking heads to camera.  These vary in length from 4 seconds to 30 seconds.
I want to pull into each clip at the same speed. Naturally, because they all vary in length, they will not all end on the same percentage scale-up - so setting the outpoint of each clip to, say, 110% will not work, as a shorter clip will move faster than a longer one..
I have applied scale keyframes so that each clip begins at 100%.  I want to set the outpoint percentage so that each clip scales up at the same speed/velocity.
Without using trial and error (of which there are too many clips to realistically do this), can anyone please tell me how to go about setting the clip scale using speed/velocity as the criteria, not percentage.  I cannot see how to make use of the graph to acheive this.
    Thanks in advance.

Ok... as I was figuring this out, I'm thinking that maybe you're overthinking the math a little bit. There are two solutions.
First, if, as I originally understood your needs, you want to shave the same amount of time off each clip, simply take your first clip, write down the beginning time, take it to 110%, write down the ending time, and figure out how many frames you chopped off. Then simply take your other clips, write down their beginning times, shave off the same number of frames, and you'll get an ending time. Then you can either run a math macro on it in a program like Excel to figure out what the percentage would be, or right click on the clip in the timeline, go to "speed and duration" and there you can manually enter a frame value for what you want the clip to be. (NOTE: if you're doing a math macro on it in Excel, figure your frames as if you had footage that was 100fps, not 30 or 60... Excel doesn't know how to break 30 at 100, if you get my drift).
Now, as I was thinking this through, it occured to me, that you might be way overthinking this. A percentage is a measurement of the whole. So if you had subtract 10% from a clip of 10 seconds, you've got a clip at 9 seconds. However, if you've got a clip at 20 seconds and you subtract 10%, you're not subtracting 1, but 2, leaving you with 18 seconds. So the rate at which end up with your clips is the same, when working with percentages. Make sense? So you might just simply need to speed each clip up by the same rate (percentage) and you'll get what you're looking for.
Does this help, or have I missed your goal?

  • Export Quick Time movie drops several clips

    FCEHD 3.5 user
The exported quick time movie has dropped several clips from the time line - no clips were dropped from the browser. I exported the QT Movie to external drive B because drive A was getting full (15% available) and on the prior export to ext A I had audio sync problems - about 3 frames ou of sync. The sync problem, on drive A, had just started and it went in and out over about 10% of the 34 min project. The sync problem went away when I exported to drive B but that whe 3 clips were missing from the timeline. This was the first time I used ext. drive B to store a quick time movie file.
What's causing the clips from dropping off the timeline?
Should I continue drive A as my QT export storage?

Full details about your system and the drives would be helpful.

  • Audio syncing across several clips

I think this problem boils down to the fact that GoPro has recorded three separate clips and I can't figure out how to combine them.
I have searched around and these didn't provide answers either:
I'd like to combine 3 Premiere files into one video- How do I do that?
    https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1597063?q=How%20to%20combine%20videos
I made a video YouTube screencast to demonstrate the syncing issues I am having. Am I missing a trick? Many thanks,

    Hi Kai,
Good news that your idea worked for you. Congrats. And thanks for creating that other video for me.

Btw "Nest" is odd terminology to me. "Join" would have been better. I guess there is all sorts of legacy in Premiere Pro. I personally would go back to the drawing board when it comes to UI here. What seems particularly bad is the effects control panel with the duplicating UI widgets.
How about "group?" In the UK a "joiner" is actually what they call editors, or they did at one time any way. Heard that before? If you have any request for the UI, make them here: http://adobe.ly/feature_request

"Option+dragging the synched audio track" didn't work. Yes, I wanted to prune the audio on either side of the video. Oh well. Merging clips in the Program panel didn't work - YouTube
Actually, you option + drag the edge of the clips after they are in the timeline (called "trimming"). It looks like the middle clip did not sync by audio, which I thought it would.
What I think is actually going on here is that your GoPro clip is what we call a "spanned" clip. They are separated into segments by the camera. That is probably why they are all named the same way. I can see why that might be confusing, but here's the fix:
Import the GoPro clips once more as one single continuous "spanned" clip! You do that by importing using the Media Browser instead of the way you were importing clips (double clicking in the Project panel). With file based cameras, importing by the Media Browser is always preferable.
Navigate to the clip on the left side of the Media Browser
When the clip appears, Ctrl-click on the clip and choose Import
The clip is imported as a single clip, not three clips.
After you have imported the single spanned clip, try again the merge clips process. Your audio should sync by audio this time.

  • Keyframed lens flare across multiple clips in the timeline?

How can  I apply a keyframed lens flare that continues across multiple clips in my timeline?
Using keyframes I am trying to have a lens flare travel across several clips in my timeline as one contiunes movement.
Back in the day (before elements) i could do this in Premiere using something called virtual clips (I think).
Thanking you in adavance for any help on this or "virtual clips"

    Welcome to the forum.
Premiere Pro allows for Transparent Video (think the opposite of Black Video, in both PrPro and PrE), but PrE does not have that feature. You are probably thinking of Sub-Clips, also not available directly in PrE.
Steve's method will work, but here is another to consider:
Place the WAB (Work Area Bar) over those particular contiguous Clips, and then Publish+Share (for PrE 11, or Share for PrE 7 - 10), and export those contiguous Clips to an AV file. The choice of Publish+Share settings will depend on what you have for your Source Footage, and what your Project's Preset is. If you are working with, say AVCHD, then doing the Publish+Share to matching H.264 will probably be what you want.* In the Publish+Share dialog, make sure to check Work Area, to limit that to JUST the area defined by the WAB. Import that output file into your Project, and replace those edited Clips with it. Apply your Keyframed Lens Flare to that Clip. That is basically a manual Sub-Clip, but with a few more steps, than in PrPro.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Newbie HELP - Track playback video freeze across .m2v clips

    Hello.
This seems a VERY basic issue. But VERY frustrating.
And of course it is a VERY URGENT job to finish.
    Running DVDSP 4.1.1.
I create a new project and a new track and place 2 clips - .m2v plus .ac3 files (created in compressor from .mov files) on the track.
When I play across the the JOIN of the clips -
CLIP 1 plays VIDEO and AUDIO fine...
the playhead moves across to CLIP 2
    The timecode continues to count...
The AUDIO of CLIP 2 plays...
    BUT...
The screen/window/video displays ONLY the LAST FRAME of CLIP 1.
This "frozen video display" remains UNTIL I press pause on the playback.
Then the screen/window/video updates and displays the correct new frame of CLIP 2.
    When I SIMULATE...
The same thing happens - as you would expect I guess.
I have tried new projects, old projects, new clips, old clips.
    Same thing.
    BUT...
When I COMBINE the original .mov clip(s) - either before or after the .m2v clip(s) - the playback is NORMAL.
    Why would this be?
I have already encoded all assets and I don't want to combine them with .mov files.
Normally I only have 1 clip per track and never have this issue.
But now I need to solve this.
    Any URGENT help appreciated.

  • Move FCE Motion Keyframe

is there any easy way to move a motion's keyframe from one spot in the clip to another? say i have a clip and i add a keyframe at the clip's 'in' point and then another at the clip's 'out' point. the result is say a slight zoom and move across the screen.
ok now later on i realize that clip needs to be longer - so the clip gets extended several frames. however - the keyframe that was at the clip's previous ending is now a few frames from the end - resulting in the motion "stopping" at the clip's previous endpoint. my solution now is to open the clip in the viewer and manually add a new keyframe at the end with the same parameters as the 'old' end keyframe and then delete the 'old' keyframe.
is there an easy way just to move that old keyframe from it's position to the new end point? i think it would be easy if it was an opacity keyframe and this was the timline - but i don't think motion keyframes show up in the timeline?

The short answer: no. Basically do it the way you're doing it is the best way.

  • When I move a RAW file from IPhoto to my desktop or Photoshop it changes to a jpeg and reduces in size. How can I get the Raw file across?

When I move a RAW file from IPhoto on my macbook pro to desktop or Photoshop it changes to a jpeg and reduces in size. How can I get the Raw file to move across?

I create separate folders based on the year and then the actual date of when I take images. You can make those folders anywhere on any hard drive that is connected to your Mac whether internal or external. I also use the Photoshop Photo Downloader that is included with Photoshop/Bridge and it will create the date folder so all I do is create a Year folder.
Open Bridge or click on the Bridge icon in PS and in the File menu item in Bridge select "Get photos from Camera". It can be a camera connected to your Mac or a memory card from a camera. A window will open and you then select the camera or memory card. Set the location they will be downloaded to, just the folder and you can Browse to a folder that you created, then in the "Create  Subfolders drop down select what date stamp you want to use or or custom name or not to create subfolders at all.
I've never cared for iPhoto one bit. I tried it but found it way to restrictive. It likes to have full control over how you interact with your images.

  • How can i let a move clip complete his motion tween movement after dragging and dropping it

hi how can i let a move clip complete his motion tween movement after dragging and dropping it
i am using this code and there is a motion tween applies to the movie clip r_mc
    r_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN,fun); r_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP,fun2); function fun(event:MouseEvent):void { stop(); r_mc.startDrag();
    function fun2(event:MouseEvent):void {
    play(); r_mc.stopDrag();

i have a simple .fla file wich contains MC that has
a motion tween(its moving from the left to the right of the stage)
this motion tween covers the whole time line (  there is only 50 frames in the time line)
i mean in the frame 1 the MC appears in the left of the stage
and in the frame 50 the MC appears in the right of the stage and there is a motion tween between them
every thing till now working well
i want to make that MC dragabble
so when i drag the MC i will use stop()
and when i drop it i will use play()
but the problem is that the mc doesnt move and complete
his motion tween movement when i drop it
for example the MC will be in the middle of the stage in frame 25
in this frame (25) i am draging the MC ,stoping the timeline, dropping the MC and resum playing the timeline again
but the MC freezes in the middle of the stage and doesnt go to the right of the stageo until the flash loops and start from the frame 1 again
here is the example wich i am worikng on

  • Setting motion keyframes on head and end of a clip in the timeline

I've been exeriencing a weird problem lately.
If I throw a clip into the timeline, then double click it
back into the viewer, then use CONTROL K to place keyframes
across all motion perameters at the head of the clip, THEN hit the down arrow button to get to the end of the clip so I can make adjustments and have keyframes placed at the end of the clip, the process of hitting the down arrow to get to the end of the clip actually takes me to the head of the next clip in the timeline and up in the Viewer keyframe viewer.
If I use the left arrow to move one frame backwards to try and get to last frame of the clip I actually want to place a keyframe on the end of, it doesn't get
me back to the original clip...I've still got the second clip up in the Viewer motion keyframe area.
It's been requiring me to reload the clip from the timeline again, drag the viewer playhead to the end of the clip being careful to not accidentally go past the end of the clip, or it again goes into the next clip and it's impossible to navigate back to the first clip without double clicking it back up into the window.
So long question...after having placed keyframes at the very head of a clip double clicked back into the viewer from the timeline, how do I quickly get to the end of the clip to place my changed keyframe perameters, without overshooting the clip and running into the next?

To get to the Out point of the current clip, instead of the next clip/edit, you need to press Shift-O.
Also helpful: pressing Shift-I takes you to the In point.

  • How do you smooth out keyframes?

I used the record button and tracked text with a object on the video.
When the text moves across the canvas it is jittery because of so many keyframes.
    How do I fix that?
Also how do I select a bunch of keyframes at once on the canvas? Every time I tried to select multiple keyframes it moved the video underneath.
    Thanks

    I got it.
I put a Average Parameter on the position of the text.
It took away all the keyframes and now the text travels across the screen smoothly.
