the Dynamic Page is a special form of portlet that is supported by Oracle9iAS Portal internally, which means that it is not recommended to tweak the generated PL/SQL package even though you have access to it. By doing this you won't be able to make any changes using Portal UI because every time you do the changes your code will be regenerated. Unfortunately, I don't see an easy way to extract the information you are looking for in the Dynamic Page portlet. My recommendation is to programmatically create a PL/SQL portlet that implements the same business logic as your Dynamic Page portlet. This way you will gain full control on your code and will have all advantages of PDK-PL/SQL.

How to change the UI of Community Links portlet

In WCI 10gR3, how could I change the UI of the Community Links portlet? Basically, I do not want the community icons next to my to-be-linked Community Pages list; All I want is just a heading like Quick Links and the links below.

I would like to add another question about the Community Links portlet; is it possible to modify it so that it can have indentation (ie: categories/subcategories, like a bullet list)? Is there some other portlet available that would allow links to have some kind of categorization rather than appear only non-hierarchically?

How to achieve Page Navigation in af:table component

I am using JDeveloper 11.1.1.3.
I have a requirement for which i dont know how to proceed. Please guide me on the below requirement.
I have an af:table component which displays a list of all the employees from the database. The total number of records in my database is 300(employee table).
So my af:table component while displaying the Employee view object displays all the 300 employees when i scroll down the list.
But i dont want the user to scroll down to see all the employees. In the af:table footer i want the page navigation option to be shown which will allow the user to see 10 records per page. When the user clicks on the next button , the af:table should display the next 10 records of the view object.
Kindly help me or guide me to some reference material on how can i achieve this.

There is no out-of-the-box table pagination in ADF 11g, the scroll-table is the way to go. New content is fetched only as needed when the user scrolls down the list. You can use the table's column filters or a separate search query component to make it easier to find employees on the list.

Help! Communication between portlets on diffrence pages

I have two portal pages (A, B) including two portlets (A', B'). When click a link on portlet in page A, i want to redirect to page B and pass parameter to porlet B'.
I tried using Portlet Event but it seem that they just only communicate with each other on the same page.
Can anyone help me?

Ok.
Assuming that you have configured portlet.xml with public-render-parameter associated to your portlet. For example:

Now in runtime when you add your portlet assign value from page parameter in parameters tab.
In your portlet you can get your parameter with

Basically with contextual events you have to:
1) Create a handler method.
2) Create a Data Control from your Java Handler class.
3) Publish in binding layer your method.
4) Publish a event in your page.
5) Configure Event map: event published - your method consumer

Communication between portlet channels

Hi.
Lets say I have 2 channels in a tablecontainer on my portal desktop.
One will list a set of Objects: object1, object2, object3 as html links.
The other channel will show html code for one specific object, by getting some instance variables in a jsp and printing them.
I call these the list-channel and the details-channel.
Now what I want is, that when one clicks in the list on a specific object, e.g. object3, then the other channel must load the object.
My intention was to do this by using PortletContext by setting an portletcontext attribute when the user clicks an object in the list and then refresh the page. The details-channel jsp page could than get the attribute from the portletcontext and load and show the clicked object.
But I don't understand technically how to do this? Can someone explain?
I also am not sure this is the good way to do this? Is there a better way?

Portal 6: The recommended approach is to package the portlets into the same WAR file so that they can share session information. Use the session to pass information from one portlet to the next.
Portal 7: There is a new portlet communication API that is part of Portal 7. If you can wait just a little while, I would recommend implementing this type of functionality with the new release. Portal 7 will be released soon.

Inter Communication between portlets getting error ed out

How do I sync Pages docs between my Macbook and a PC?

I want to sync Pages documents between my Macbook and a PC, for when I don't have the Macbook with me. I created a Pages file and saved it to iCloud, but it doesn't appear in the iCloud Pages web interface, even though other docs created in the web interface do.
Sorry to ask such a basic question, but I can't figure this out. If I'm working in Pages on my Mac and save the document, it's like it goes someplace different than when I create a Pages doc on the web interface...
Seriously confused, and not understanding how this works. Apologies for being such a beginner. This is really the only thing I want to use iCloud for.

Thanks, Rick. I have identified another part of the answer -- my husband and I both use this MacBook. We have separate IDs and iCloud accounts. But apparently only one account is allowed to store iWork files on iCloud. Apparently when his iPhone was set up, or maybe when he borrowed the MacBook for a business trip, or when he took some pictures with his new iPhone -- who knows how or when -- the storage capability got attached to his iCloud account on my computer. I started to sign him out, then was told that if that was done, the photostream would be deleted.
At this point the complexity is beyond ridiculous. We have 3 Mac devices, two computers and a phone, and I can't figure out the logic behind this limitation. I wish I had spent the hours that were invested in this effort in something more productive. I don't think iCloud is ready for primetime yet.

Linked results pages - not sure how to achieve it

Hi all. This is my problem. I have a MySQL database with a single table which contains a number of listings of albums by different musicians. The client has asked for a specific way of searching this and for the life of me I can't work out how to achieve it.
Essentially what's needed are 3 pages:
page 1 will pull into a repeating region all the listings in the table, displaying the artist's name. You click on the artist's name and it takes you to page 2, which shows all the available albums by that artist (and only that artist). You click on the album of choice and it takes you to page 3 where you'll see the detailed listing for that item.
So far I've managed to get a page which shows all the different albums for the artist (for test purposes the database currently only has two entries, both by Queen) - these display fine and click through to the appropriate detail page for each album. What I can't work out is how to insert a page before the first of these to allow for selection of artists. I could probably easily produce a results page which pulls the artist name from the database (using a SQL query such as DISTINCT artist) but I can't work out how whatever results are produced would link through to the first of my pages.
If anyone can get me facing the right way on this I'd really appreciate it. I've appended the code for my two pages (op_1.php and op_2.php) below.

The page1 will appear again and I can see the data I have insert. However, If I fill out the fields and click the tab2 (page 2) instead. when I come back to page1, the data I filled out are all gone. Is there any way in HTML DB to force the submit in the current page after you click other page. If use JavaScript, what is code looks like.

just for clarity, if I understood correctly what you said there are two possibilities:
1) keep the standard tab branch and give up the possibility of validating page items. Below you can find an example of such cases.
2) Replace the template substitution string and perform a "custom" button-like submit also adding a branch to the main page associated with the tab. Page items will be validated if the branch firing point is set after the validations.
I couldn't find an example of the latter, but I found easily an example of the former:
it's the "Report attributes", page 420 of app 4000.
If you enter 'aaa' in the "Number of rows" form field and then you press "apply changes", htmldb correctly displays an inline error message saying that the value must be numeric. On the contrary, if you click on the "Region Definition" tab, htmldb takes you to a page showing an oracle exception:
ORA-20001: Error in DML: p_rowid=4785927011172906402, p_alt_rowid=ID, p_rowid2=, p_alt_rowid2=. ORA-20001: Invalid numeric value aaa for column PLUG_QUERY_NUM_ROWS

Have u checked out "printable page" in OA Developer guide??
Step 1: Add a page-level button as described in the Buttons (Action/Navigation) document.
Step 2: Assuming your button label is the standard "Printable Page," apply the OA Framework attribute set /oracle/apps/fnd/attributesets/Buttons/PrintablePage.
Step 3: Set the button's Destination URI property to point to the current page and set the UIX facet parameter (OARF) to printable as shown in the following example (if you don't know what a "facet" is, please see Controlling UIX Rendering Output for additional information). Remember to retain your application module.
OA.jsp?page=<CURRENT_PAGE>&retainAM=Y&OARF=printable
Step 4: Set the button's Target Frame property to _blank. This ensures that the printable page opens in a new window.

Could someone tell/show me if its possible to have iView to iView communication between URL iView's containing asp pages? I've seen some reference to using the EPCF and that it must be included in the asp pages but I'm confused... Client Eventing Problem with URL Iview
Where is the EPCF? so I can place a copy with my asp pages? Has anyone ever done this before? Is it possible?
