How to add Category Properties

How do I find out what Category Properties are available for use in ValidIf elements when writing new Metrics?
Looking at all the files I can see plenty of places where CategoryProperties are used, but I can not see where they are defined or where the current values for a perticular Categoey Property is set.
How do I add an new Category Property? for example, if a host target is remote then I want to write a different QueryDescriptor than the one for a local host.
Thanks,
Jim

The Category Properties that can be used for a target type are defined in first line in the xml of a target metadata file (CATEGORY_PROPERTIES). These are usually filled in as Dynamic Instance Properties, so when you create the target instance, regular instance properties are entered in the UI and the scripts that fill in any Dynamic Instance Properties are triggered. The only way to tell the scope of what can be filled in as a value is to look at the script that is executed for the Dynamic Instance Properties (Even then the script may not define the full set of valid options).
If you are creating your own new target type, you can add new Category Properties by putting an entry in the CATEGORY_PROPERTIES at the top of the metadata file (in the TargetMetadata tag) and then adding a Dynamic Instance Property (and a script that will fill in a value for your category property) to the target metadata file. You can use the host metadata file (host.xml) as an example of how to do this.
If you are adding a User Defined Metric (UDM), you can't add any new category properties. And I don't know if you can use the ValidIf construct when defining a Host UDM.

  • Button Skin: How to add button properties (over, down,up)

    Hi all,
         I made a custom button "skin" because I want my buttons to be images with NO box or border around it and it works great, but I don't know how to add the button functionality. ex. In "over" state buttons tend to light up and in "down" state they tend to get darker. Anyone know how to apply this to an image??? below is my code. Thanks guys!!
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <s:SparkSkin xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
                 xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"
                 xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx" width="64" height="64">

        </s:states>
        <mx:Image source="@Embed(source='assets/images/lightbulb.png')"/>
    </s:SparkSkin>

    You could try something like this:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <s:SparkSkin xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
                 xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"

  • How do you add/make properties to layers/timeline without shortcuts?

    How do you add scale, position etc to a layer on the timeline without using shortcut keys?
    I used the tools to scale and whatnot, and know you can use shortcuts but is there a menu where you can add those properties and make them show up in the timeline?

    I'm not sure that I understand your question.
    Every layer has a Position property and a Scale property. You don't need to add them.
    If you're asking about how to _show_ the properties, then it's just a matter of clicking the triangle next to the layer name in the Timeline panel and then clicking the triangle next to the name of the property group. (The Position and Scale properties are in the Transform property group.)
    See this page: "Layer properties in the Timeline panel"
    Since you're new to After Effects, I strongly recommend that you start here:

    If you're talking about a playback controller within the rich media annotation (RMA) then you need to write your own widget in Flash or Flex, and then place the video and widget files using the multimedia "Add Flash" tool in Acrobat instead of the "Add Video" tool. Aside from a bunch of proprietary code to handle events, commenting and the API (which you can live without for basic play-pause-scrub applications), video RMAs are just an embedded SWF file containing an FLVPlayback component. The skin and the video file itself are added to the RMA as resource entries. You can build your own version and have it display whatever controls you want, provided you know how to write ActionScript!
    If you're talking about a controller that's external to the RMA (e.g. a series of links or buttons elsewhere on the page) then in the past you would use FLV video files and the 'cue points' feature that's built into Acrobat - however Adobe removed the ability to create FLV files in the latest version of CC, so unless you have CS6 or earlier it's a non-starter. Instead you can manually set playback start points using the special "multimedia operations" link action in your PDF - though stopping playback at a defined point is very difficult without FLV cues. For that you're back to writing your own widget.

  • How to add context help text to a property node of an XControl?

    Hi
    anyone knows how to add description for a property node of an XControl which should appear in the context help window of LV?
    In case of a method, the description of the method VI appears on the context help. But not for property node
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Vsh,
    You can set the property context help by right-clicking the xcontrol in your Project Explorer, selecting Properties,  selecting the "Item Settings" category and clicking on the Property that you wish to write context help for.  You will see a box titled "Description" on the right;  this is where the context help is defined.
    Let me know if you have trouble finding this.

I've only know that Its somewhere under SPRO > Global Enhancements to Project Elements but Im a little bit lost there. Can somebody explain to me with details how to do this and also, does this need a specific access of developer to do this customization?
    As this is a basic need for all, anybody that is new on the tool and search for this will have a good reference on this thread.

    how to change the class name after the project is created.In NetBeans, right click the class name either in the declaration or constructor, select Refactor --> Rename... and follow the dialog.
    You can refactor --> rename anything that is not in a guarded block. For those, there are options via the properties window.

  • Add custom properties to People Search Results

    Good morning,
    I am trying to include some custom properties to our Search Results. These are the steps I have followed so far:
    Create User Profile Service Property and sync to AD. The property is populated for different users.
    Run full crawl
    Create managed property on the Schema, and map this to the crawled property
    Created a new version of the Item_Person.html template and changed its title.
    Upload to the Display Templates gallery, and created a new Result Type with this as its template
    Added the new property to the mso:ManagedPropertyMapping tag
    Went to Search Result Types, and selected "Update" on the Property Sync alert
    On the new template, the new property appears on the object ctx.CurrentItem, but its value is null.
    Am I missing something? Tried running full crawl and incremental crawl. Even tried removing the index first.

    Hi James,
    According to BI 7.0 Version
    Steps of creating workbook and to insert more than one query in a workbook.
    When you run a query and it opens in Bex Analyzer you can click the save button and pick "Save as Workbook".
    Once you save it as a workbook Click on the "Design Mode" button in the Bex toolbar (looks like an A).
    Click in the sheet where you want the new query to go, click the "Analysis Grid" button. It will add the analysis grid to your new sheet.
    Right click on the Analysis grid and go to properties.
    Click on button to change data provider and select the query you want to attach.
    Exit design mode and you should be all set.
