  • How to add datafile to standby database

    Hi,
    We have standby database on another site and we are using manual recovery. How to add datafile to standby database after datafile is added to primary database.
    We are on Oracle 9i R2.
    Please help.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
    When you recover the standby database after you added a datafile to the production, you will get an error that the file that needs recovery does not exist.
    At this point you can connect to the standby and issue:
    alter database create datafile '<original_name>' as '<new_name>';the new name is optional if the location of the files are the same.
    After that, you can continue recovering the standby database.

  • How to add datafile from previous installation to a new one

    Hello,
    I have a new installation Oracle 11g 11.1.0.6 (64b), in addition to that i have a copy (all files - 'cold backup') of my previous installation Oracle 11g 11.1.0.6 (32b). I don't have any backup from expdp or rman. How can I import data from the old installation to the new one? Is there any simple way? When i just overwrite users01.dbf (tablespace users) i get an error when i start my instance:
    ORA-01203: wrong incarnation of this file - wrong creation SCN
    When I overwrite all *.dbf files, control files (*.ctl) and redo logs (*.log) and then when i try connect i get an error:
    ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
    Does anybody can help me? Any help is highly appreciate.

  • How to add ASm diskgroup in ASM oracle 10.1.0.4.0

    Hi experts,
    We are using IBM AIX 5.3L OS on IBM Servers.
    Oracle Database EE 10G 10.1.0.4.0,
    RAC and ASM
    Presently There are 3 diskgroup (Filesystem) in my DB suppose
    +ABC
    +DEF
    +GHI
    Now I want to add a new Diskgroup (File system)
    Say
    +XYZ
    and I want to tranfer some file from OS to ASM so that these files are stored in
    +XYZ
    I m new to ASM plz suggest me in detail.
    Thanks and Regards,

    It depends on the type of file you are talking about, if an spfile, you can use a SQL command to add it in if the database already exists:
    SQL> create spfile='+XYZ/dbname/spfileDBNAME.ora' from pfile='/home/oracle/initdbname.ora'
    For other file types like datafiles, controlfiles, etc. you should use RMAN to move them from a "real" datafile into ASM:
    RMAN> restore controlfile from '/oracle/product/admin/${db}/control01.ctl';
    - take tablespace test offline first then...
    RMAN> backup as copy tablespace 'TEST' format '+XYZ';
    RMAN> switch tablespace 'TEST' to copy;
    - then set the tablespace online
    If non-Oracle files, it is possible to put them in/out ASM using XDB and FTP, but why?

  • How to add and remove storage from ASM at the same time?

    Scenario:
    I want to drop some disks from asm
    1- Add disk to asm -----> rebalance
    2- drop disk from asm ----> rebalance
    Is there anyway to make this process faster instead of going to rebalancing twice?

    I think you could try something like this.....
    Add with a power limit of zero and then drop the disks with a powerlimit of 11.
    alter system set ASM_POWER_LIMIT=0;
    select * from v$asm_operation;
    alter diskgroup DBFILE01_GRP
    add disk 'ORCL:DB0009', 'ORCL:DB0010', 'ORCL:DB0011', 'ORCL:DB0012';
    alter diskgroup DBFILE01_GRP drop disk DB0001, DB0002, DB0003, DB0004;
    alter diskgroup DBFILE01_GRP rebalance power 11;
    select * from v$asm_operation;

    Hi!
    You are may in the wrong forum ...
    Before you get now in trouble, take a quick look at this:
    just an example for windows
    alter tablespace <your_tablespace>
    add datafile 'free_harddisk:\your_folder\datafileX.extension'
    size 200M autoextend on next 200M maxsize 2000M;and now hit the road ;)

    if datafie is deleted then you may add it into existing tablespace.
    Try this : -
    1.)sqlplus sys/xx as sysdba
    2.)alter tablespace <tablespace_name> add datafile <datafile_name> size <give size>;

  • Why asm startwith with + sign? what happen add file in asm tablespace without using + sign,please explain with error no.

    Hi folks,
    I have one query why asm startwith with + sign? what happen add datafile file in table space,or add disk in disk group  without using + sign ,please explain with error no.

    hello,
    + sign is to indicate the diskgroup you intended to place datafile. this apply to all database files.
    without + sign,will be place in ORACLE_HOME/dbs directory. there will be NO error.
    see example here: without using +
    SQL> create tablespace test45 datafile 'temdg' size 10m;
    Tablespace created.
    SQL> select name from v$datafile;
    NAME
    /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/dbs/temdg
    7 rows selected.
    second example: with using + sign to specify diskgroup
    SQL> create tablespace test55 datafile '+temdg' size 10m;
    Tablespace created.
    SQL> select name from v$datafile;
    NAME
    /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/dbs/temdg
    +TEMDG/orcl/datafile/test55.261.844200359

    Hello Oracle Gurus''
    1.can one tablespace have their datafile on ASM as well as filesystem ?? like 1 tablespace =1ASMfile + 1 localfilesystem file
    2.also tell me will there be any database error code triggered on the DB alert log file. if we use the datafiles on ASM as well as local filesystem for one tablespace??and any performance issues on that tablespaces which resides on filesystem and ASM disk both? ..if all are fine how the filesystem datafile will be support for ASM rebalancing also mirroring level on ASM ??

    Yes.

    AFAIK no. The files which are present on the disk/file system only and not on asm, are not managed by it so no support for asm based striping and mirroring would be there for them.Second, rebalancing is NOT done for the files but for the disks when they are not present or have become offline due to some reason.
    3.what is type of SCN? is there any types we have ?
    Just remember one type, System Commit Number and forget about rest.
    4.what are the wait events views on RAC clusters used? to monitor the cluster events and rectify the issues?Please see the Performance Tuning section of Oracle RAC Admninistration guide with a special attention to Cluster wait class and wait events related to it. Best is, use EM and it would show all the things in a nice manner.
