How to add dummy data to my test database ? from a newbie in need of help

Hi all
I am pretty new to oracle and i would like to mess around with it some more i just created my database (MVF) and created an test tablespace.
The question now is what would be the best way to fill the tablespace with data ? can i just insert some lines in the tablespace ? or are there any more efficiënt ways of doing this ?
Maybe someone who could provide me an pl/sql script for it ? or an procedure what would do this (insert x amount of dummy data) on regular intervals ?

- Take a look in your alert log. One of the first things listed at startup is the initialization parms with non-default values. Read up on each one of them (listed in your alert log) in the Reference Manual.
- Take a look at your listener.ora, tnsnames.ora, and sqlnet.ora files. Go to the Network Administrators manual and read up on everything you see in those files.
- When you have finished reading the Concepts Manual, do it again.

you need something that does:
end_date (DATE) := start_date (DATE) + <number of
days> (NUMBER)Not necessarily, because if the duration is just a string representation of a number then it will be implicitly converted to a number and not cause an error
e.g.
SQL> ed
Wrote file afiedt.buf
1 with t as (select to_date('01/07/2007','DD/MM/YYYY') as start_dt, '3' as duration_days from dual)

Have you asked this question of the vendor of Enterprise Architect? They may have a later version that supports the various TIMESTAMP data types. If your ERD tool doesn't support a data type, other than talking to the vendor or working around the problem (i.e. generate DDL to a text file and edit it before applying it to the database), you're probably out of luck.

We have 4 below file systems.

Sybase/TST/sapdata_3
Sybase/TST/sapdata_4
Already we have added one data file each in sapdata_1 and 2. Sapdata3 and 4 are emptry.
How to add new data file in sapdata3 or 4.
Please provide syntax for creating a new data file and steps for the same.

How to add the Date Track Button on a customized Form ?
1. Profile of Datetrack:Enabled = Yes
2. All HR Forms includes the Date Trak Button
3. On the Customized Form "Alter Date Track" can be activated from Menu :Tool --> Alter Date Track.
I'd Like the Button to appear on button ruller.

how to get values/data stored in the database into a list-item.
i tried to make a list item without any values assigned to it...but i got the below error.
FRM-30191: No list items defined for required poplist.
or
FRM-32082: Invalid value for given item type.
List EMPNO
Item: EMPNO

Form: MODULE5
FRM-30085: Unable to adjust form for output.
then according to some docs, i tried the the following for the trigger

for list items you need to values in the record group, one is the shown value and one is the returned value.
Check out the online help for the populate_list built-in.
You'll need something like select ename,ename from emp as the record group query.

Can any one help us regarding How to fecth the Date column(or month column) from the file name specified in the path in a generalized way .
For example :
file name is :subscribers (Cost) Sep13.csv is specified in the below path
E:\Accounting\documents\subscribers (Cost) Sep13.csv
here I need to fetch the "Sep13" as a Date column in the ODI 11g in the generalized way.
Can any one help us in this case as early as possible.

I would suggest using a piece of Jython code for this. Something like this...

filelist = os.listdir(E:\Accounting\documents\)
for file in filelist:
datestr = file[19:-4]
You'd need to work out what to do with datestr next... perhaps write it to a table or update an ODI variable with it.

If they were taken with your camera and they are in a format supported by the iPad, then you could sync them to the Photos app - with the iPad connected and selected on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes, you can use the Photos tab on the right-hand side of iTunes to sync photos and videos (there is an 'include videos' tickbox on that tab) to the Photos app.
Or you can sync them to the Videos app. If you can add them to your iTunes library (File > Add To Library) you can then use Movies tab (instead of the Photos tab) to sync them to the Videos app. If you can add them to your library but they don't sync over because they aren't in a supported format then try doing Advanced > Create iPad Version and then try syncing those versions.

Hi. I want to create test database from my standby database using rman.
But i have some some tables and where information is too large i dont want backup all data from this tables. because i dont have enough space on my test server.

You can create duplicate database on based your target database (to new host) and skip undesired tablespaces...
