SharePoint 2010 Rest API: How to add attachment to a list item via ListData.svc

Hi
I have set up a project using the REST API in c# Visual Studio 2010.
I have added a service reference to the URL //site/_vti_bin/listdata.svc/
I can query the list and get back data, but I can't retrieve the attachments.
I can write data to the list, but I can't add attachments.
Are there any examples of how to add or retrieve attachments using the REST API services.

How to Add values to dropdown list in runtime

Hi All
I wanted to add the items to the dropdown list in the plugin.
The SDK Example WriteFishPrice shows the items are hard coded in the .fr file.
i am looking for a similar concept, but not adding the items in the .fr file, i wanted to add the items in the .cpp or .h files and add the items to the dropdownlist.
DECLARE_PMID(kWidgetIDSpace, kWFPDropDownListWidgetID, kWFPPrefix + 2)
The declaration is done in WFPID.h file
#define kWFPDropDownItem_1Key kWFPStringPrefix "kWFPDropDownItem_1Key"
defining the string is done in WFPID.h
I wanted to add the items in the same header file, is there any way that i can add the items in the header files instead of adding in .fr file

Hope this will help you a bit with both threads ; ) I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish with defining the strings in an header or cpp file and not in the fr file(s). Usually you sort of predefine strings in the main fr file and then give a "final" translation definition for each string in the corrosponding language file. If you don't need or want to translate you can define string constants almost wherever you like and add them at runtime e.g. during dialog initialization. In this case you'd have to make each string not to be translateable with PMString.SetTranslatable(kFalse). If you want to add items to a listbox or text edit during runtime you just have to get the interfaces and call their methods. Below is a small example taken from a dialog with a dropdown listbox, a text edit field and a button widget. In the DialogObserver I implemented the Update function to the following functionality: - when the button (Insert Button) is pressed the content of the edit field is read and inserted into the listbox - when something in the listbox is selected, the selection is shown/inserted into the text field void VSPDialogObserver::Update ( const ClassID& theChange, ISubject* theSubject, const PMIID& protocol, void* changedBy ) { // Call the base class Update function so that default behavior will still occur (OK and Cancel buttons, etc.). Hi all,
I want to populate a list item at run time with the values of my choice.
im using this
add_list_element('list34',1, 'Name','Smith');
or
add_list_element('list34',1, 'Name',:emp.txtname);
where emp is my data block and txtname is a text field on this emp block.
noen of them is working, whether i try adding a string or the value in a text item.
please help.

It gives any error or just does nothing?
Have you tried making another simple form with just one block and one or two items?

Hi,
Expand the Attribute Period_type and double click on its GET_V method.
You will find following code line :
lr_ddlb->set_selection_table( me->job_wizard ).
Double click on the Set_selection_table method to open the method code.
You will find a LOOP.. ENDLOOP there. Here,to remove the values, comment out this LOOP- ENDLOOP.
and add following lines
         ls_ddlb-key   = 'Y'.
        ls_ddlb-value = 'Yearly'.
        APPEND ls_ddlb TO me->ddlb.

Custom draw dropdown list items

Hi all,
I'm working on porting some plugins from CS6 to CC 2014.
One issue I'm stumped upon, is that with CS6, I'm able to customize the drawing behavior of items inside a dropdown, by overriding the methods in "IOwnderDrawItem", that was aggregated on "kDropDownListWidgetBoss".
But it seems that with CC SDK,
- The "IOwnerDrawItem" is no longer aggregated to "kDropDownListWidgetBoss", and
- The "IOwnerDrawItem" no longer has the "DrawItem" method.
The porting guide does not seem to provide a solution for this. So I'm looking for help about how I can achieve this with CC.

I think I have found the solution/workaround for this. Just posting back here as I do see there are quite some viewers, and hope this would help others that run into this same issue.
Basically, I think the previous SDKs allowed "DrawItem" that essentially provided a quick shortcut to allow custom drawing of items inside a string-content dropdown list. And inside the method implementation, you would need to grab the string content of the item, retrieve the more domain specific data based on the string, and draw things out.
And with CC SDK, it seems that it wants to discourage this shortcut, and promote encapsulation of dropdown list items. So now, you'll have to declare a custom widget type (extending "kBaseWidgetBoss"), that aggregates a custom implementation of "IID_ICONTROLVIEW", which does the custom drawing. And when populating the dropdown, you'll need to create instances of the custom widget type, and put them into the dropdown list via dropdown controller.
And for the dropdown list itself, you might want to declare your custom type by extending "kOwnerDrawDDListWidgetBoss", where you can then provide custom implementation of "IID_IOWNERDRAWITEM", to achieve specific item measuring needs.
I think all of this is good intent and cleaner, just that I wished there were clearer instructions in the porting guide.

How to adjust gap between tilelist items?

Hi,
I have a tilelist which uses a custom item renderer component
to render its items. I am seeing a gap between the rows of items
(no gap between columns). I cannot seem to find a property of
tileList which lets you adjust this gap.

Easy tracy. I didnt make as big of a fuss as you are making
comenting about my response. Perhapse you could've used that time
to answer someones question?
Also, the solution I mentioned actually only solved part of
the problem:
By setting the paddingtop and paddingbottom, I can adjust the
gap between the row, but paddingleft and padding right on the
tileList control has no affect on the gap between the columns
(horizontal gap between items)?

Add element in dropdown list dynamically

I am facing a problem in adding item in a dropdown list dynamically.
When i get dropdown list through IgetElementById get null.
var list = document.getElementById("targetgroupname");
here list comes as null. Now I've to fill this list. I am using below code -
for(var j=0;j< com.length;j++){
iist.options[j]= new Option(com[j],com[j]);
But it is not working. My list is not getting filled with these values.
I doubt due to var list -> null it does not allow to add element.
But I am not getting any clue, how to initialize it.

Thanks for the reply, yes the select box has that id - targetgroupname.
actually there are 2 dropdown lists, Based on the selection of first dropdown list another list shd be filled.
So I've written a script at "onchange" of first dropdown list. It works fine when a value gets changed at first dropdown list.
In some cases I've to display a preselected value at first list ( which comes from previous page as parameter), in that cases there will be no onchange on first list, so I've called the script function manually after creating the first list,like below :
<SCRIPT> checkSource();</SCRIPT>
and in this case it does not work & I get a null when i try to read the 2nd list.
But I am not sure why it is happening.. may be it is not loaded /created on page when i am calling it.
If yes, what shd I do ?

My requirements are:
1) create an LOV which holds the productno, productname and productprice fields (this is working)
2) at run time, select one record from LOV and populate the list/grid with this selected record values of productno, productname and productprice fields, so we are showing them on the form in the form of a table/grid (not working)
3) be able to select multiple records from LOV and be able to populate the list item with multiple records (not working)
4) have two more columns in the list/grid, for productquatity and total price (not wokring)

If you use a list item to display multiple columns then you'll need to use a fixed-width font. You can achieve a similar look with proportional fonts by using a normal block and setting the fields' bevel to 'None'.
Each column in the LOV has a Return Item property (under Column Mapping Properties). Set this to a :block.item reference for each column to bring the data back into those referenced fields.
You can't select multiple records from an LOV. For this you will need to create your own form. Check the help for system.mouse_button_modifiers to see how to respond to Ctrl+click and Shift+click.
To add columns just modify the LOV's record group's query.

it hasn't changed between 10.1.3 and 11. The basic outline of how you do it is
- use a managed bean to query the data
- populate the list with f:selectItems that point to the managed bean ArrayList<SelectItem> for the master and the detail
- obtain the master ID in the managed bean by parsing the #{row} variable when the table renders
- then bulild the detail list
- have the detail list referencing the ArrayList<SelectItem> you expose for the details
Note that without proper caching, the action is quite expensive
