How to align object in the report layout

Hello,
I find it very difficult to aligin objects in the report editor or in the template editor. I know there are some alignment options, like aligning to the grid or aligning a group of objects, but they seem to work on the bounding rectangle for the object. For my text objects, those rectangles are arbitrarily sized. So aligning those rectangles does not correctly align the text baseline, for example.
Does anyone have a tip on how you can align objects? I there maybe a way to alter the size of objects by changing a number in a property sheet somewhere?

The problems I am having now occur when I am editing the margin in the template editor. For some reason, the flex and confine options can not be turned off in the template editor. I believe they are turned on in this mode, at least in tools:options: paper layout they are turned on. But anyway, this really does not matter because I don't have nested objects in the margin. The objects that will go flying off are completely unrelated to the object I want to move or resize.
Update: I have just tried editing the layout of a report that was based on the template I am working on. Turning flex off there had a positive effect. It seems indeed the 'flex' setting is to blame for the problems I am experiencing. Thanks for the tip!
So now I would really like to know how to turn of flex in the template editor..

you will have to concatinate your report output with the static PDF document. in reprots 10g you can create a cusotm destination that could implement this functionality.
out of the box, reports does not provide the ability to add static content in PDF to reports' generated PDF output.

How can I want run the reports on AD, if I have no access to AD server?

I am not an AD administrator and I do not have permissions to AD server. But I have admin permissions to a site in AD and using RSAT, can administer the site. How can I want run the reports listed below? AD is on Windows 2008R2 server.

Some of your reports can be done using RSAT with Active Directory Powershell module. Some of them including
Computer Accounts Changed needs auditing to be enabled for directory object changes. These are not predefined reports which you can simply run my friend. Can you please be more specific?

Indesign CS5 - how to align objects

Dear All,
I have a problem with Indesign that is present from CS2 trough CS3 & CS4 version. I thought that CS5 version finaly will solve this issue, but it seems to me that nothing changed.
When we have to align two objects lets say in Illustrator, we may always mark the reference object by second click (then it is locked). In different software the sequence of marking objects for aligment is important (even better solution in my opinion than in Illustartor). But in Indesign things work different. If we align objects to the top - the most top object is reference. When we align to the left the object most to left is the base for aligment.
I think that everyone learned to live with that by right placing the objects before aligment. Sometimes by centering (in past versions) we were forced to lock one of the objects before aligment. But now in CS5 locked object is not selectable. Besides that I never liked this long "work around" method.
My question is how to easy align vertical centres of the objects shown on the picture below when I want object A to stay on place and object B to be centered to A. I don't want to use smart guides.

I don't want to use smartguides because when there are more objects around it will be confusing to guess if you have right center or not.
Changing preferences for locked objects will not help much I guess. I like the way the locked objects are unselctable now and of course, as you mentioned, it is time consuming way to go.
The case is, that I would like Adobe to add this issue to the wish list. If this "double click" way is good for Illustrator, why it is not implemented in Indesign, forcing users to use some magical, time consuming, workarounds.
To be honest, I hopped that I miss the point in this case and someone will tell me some obvious shortcut to use by selecting the objects to get the things right.

Altering the report's format without destroying the report layout....{solv}

Hi,
I have developed a tabular report and the layout (lines, rectangles... etc as customer wants) ....
Now , i want to alter only the report style.... that is to change it to group left....
Is it possible... to select the group fields and the fields displayed in the report without redeveloping the report UI (lines , rectangles... e.t.c).
I have tried the report wizard... but the layout destroyed... and have to do the UI from the beginning.....
NOTE : I use Dev10g

Hi Sim,
Group Left or Group Above means that you are grouping for 1 or more fields.
In the Data model, you will have to create a new group and drag the group fields to this new group.
In the Layout, you will need to add a new repeating frame below all the other repeating frame, frames, etc. ie. create a repeating frame over existing objects. You may need to move all existing objects down and to the right so that there is enough room to create a new repeating frame over these objects. With the repeating frame selected, from the Arrange Menu, select Send to back (F6) or Move Backwards (F8) several times so that the new repeating frame is below all the objects from the tabular layout.
Also, fix up the source property for the repeating frame. Create a new field(s) inside this new repeating frame for your group left field(s).

but the question here how could i to generate the report directly to the printer without showing it on the screen???
I search on the net and I find that I should change this line :-
SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(report_id,REPORT_DESTYPE, cache);
to this
SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(report_id,REPORT_DESTYPE, printer);
but it is not working with me :-(
is there any suggest ?!

How to split table in the report so it shows on the next page?

Hi,
How to split table in the report so it shows on the next page? Im trying to fit long (many columns) table into my report page. It is too long however. I want it to wrap and show the rest on the next page. What I get now is table cut at the page end and rest is not visible.

Yes, this might be that the amount of data will cause table to grow and exceed 1, 2, 3.. pages. In that case I would probably want to have, lets say , one half of columns on 1st page then the other on the 2nd page and then repeatedly the same sequence down across all pages. Is there a way to achieve this?

How to Align text in the TextArea. My purpose is that I want to post the records after retrieving from database. All the records in each fields should keep aligned like Oracle WorkSheet.

Well, first off (if it's not default, that is) you must set a monospaced font on the TextArea, unless you want to count pixelwidth of each and every string and then do an estimate on how many fill blanks you want...
If you have the each string as a line, you use a StringTokenizer on it, extract each token, put all the tokens for that line into an array of strings.
When every line is done, you compare the length of the nth String of each array and save the highest numbers.
Then you reassemble each line from the arrays and pad in spaces where the tokens are too short.

I have created a selection screen with two radio buttons one for Preq Details and another for PO Details.I am showing the output in ALV Report using(Reuse_alv_grid_display).Also i am saving the report layout variants in the alv report using(Reuse_alv_variant_f4,REUSE_ALV_VARIANT_DEFAULT_GET and REUSE_ALV_VARIANT_EXISTENCE).I am getting the layout variant but Layout Variants saved for P-req report should not show up in PO report and vice versa.)what to do for that one?
i have read some postings saying that just we need to a Pass HANDLE in layout structure..but still i am not able to save them in specific report.

If you mean the correspondence, you have to change the configuration in Financial Accounting -> AR and AP -> Business Transactions -> Outgoing Invoices -> Carry Out abd Check Settings for Correspondence. There, you need to assign your custom Program or Layout for the Correspondence Type (like SAP19) and Program.
If you mean the display layout in transaction FB03, You can change a few settings, mainly with BKPF and BSEG fields. I don't think you can add company address, though.

How to align Objects to a path while scattering the objects in even spaces with decreasing size?

I am facing following trouble:
I am suppose to draw a spiral and on this path i want to align a symbol to it (in my case a circle).
Now i have found two ways how to to it.
First i can use the Brush palette and then apply my symbol to it. but then the problem is the size of the circles are all same but i need the circle to get smaller towards the center of the spiral
Second approche i took, i used the blending options between two objects that i also attach to a path. So i could resolve the issue about the decreasing size but now another problem has appear: The gaps between the circles are not same. I would like to have even spaces.
So now my question is: How can I resolve this my problem?

Before you apply the Transform Effect, store the circle as a Symbol. Then, after finding a set of Transform settings you like, drag the resulting object to the Graphic Styles palette. The resulting Graphic Style will not include the basic Appearances (stroke, fill) of the circle; it only stores the Transform Effect. In the palette, the Graphic Style will appear to be blank, but it will contain the Transform Effect. That way, you can apply the Graphic Style to any other object with one click.
Same thing works if you first merely Group the circle and apply the Transform Effect to the Group. But storing the circle as a Symbol also lets you use the Replace Symbol command to instantly swap in/out any other Symbol.

The Picture of OLE object in the report can't be printed, and how to sovle dynamic OLE object based on path

Hi, everybody, I have a problem which the picture in the report can't be printed.I want to display some pictures in the reports and print them.So I insert the picture as OLE object, select the graph format and set graph location fomular with the path of the picture which is stored in the local machine. I run the system and generate the report, the picture is displayed correctly in the report, but when i print the report using ie's tool, the picture is gone and replaced with a little red mark. I want to use the new feature of dynamic graph location about the crystal report xi version, but I don't know where I should put the picture into on the web server and what the path is . Because my web server is installed in the another machine.I check the view source of html report and find that the system searches the picture under the crystalreportviewer11 folder on the web server.

Need to give the web server access to the folder
