How to allow receive e-mail by IP address

Hi all
I have question about how to receive e-mail.
We are using Mac OS X Server, is running Postfix mail service. This e-mail server is only for receive e-mail. And we will not create domain name for this. Is it possible sent e-mail to this server from outside? Suppost the WAN IP of this server is 200.200.200.200 and user name is admin. Can i sent e-mail to [email protected] ? Does postfix success get it? I have tried before, but it displays "Illegal address syntax" error message.

If Apple has disabled or deactivated your e-mail account, then you will not be able to use it. Did Apple tell you why it was disabled?
If you don't know why Apple disabled it, you'll need to contact Apple Support to find out why.

After the recent upgrade to the Adobe Forums you may notice that you are receiving additional e-mail messages from the Adobe Forums.

What does “I cannot export or copy and paste or drag the mail over” mean?
Mail stores most preferences and all account settings in ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist (except the passwords, which are stored in the keychain). Everything else, including all your messages and mailboxes, is stored within the ~/Library/Mail/ folder.
Similarly, Address Book stores the settings in ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.AddressBook.plist and the data in ~/Library/Application Support/AddresBook/.
Other applications store preferences and data in other places. You may want to ask in the appropriate forums for more information on those.
If both computers are running the same major version of Mac OS X, copying these files & folders from one computer to the other is all you need to do in order to have an exact copy of all your data on both computers.
In order to avoid potential permission issues, copy the files operating on the destination computer and while logged in as the user that’s going to use them. Also, be sure the affected applications aren’t running on either computer while doing that.

There is no such thing as Thunderbird email. You get your email from your email provider. Most providers have a webmail interface where can go there on the Internet with a browser. Use your provider's webmail interface when away from your own computer.

Some poviders won't pass music files or files over a certain size, but in Mail, but in Mail & viewing that, is there on the right that says Attachments, or Save?

How can I copy a mailing list into address book without having to type them individualy

I have a mailing list and I would like to send emails to everyone on the list in one go, I copied and pasted the list into my email, but can I have this group somewhere so that I can just call it up like an ordinary address from the address book, preferably without having to type every name individualy into the address book. I tried making a group in the address book and pasting the list in without success,if this is possible can some explain how I can acheive this

Unfortunately, you have to add them one at a time - wait a sec... oh, yeah, if the contact is in your contact list it will 'auto-fill' as you begin to type. So if I want Wendy Whatshername, all I have to do is type Wen and the contacts will show up for you to select and auto-fill the name and email address.

I've never had this problem before, but I'm not receiving any emails that come from the community college e-mail system where my husband works. I used to receive them, but today, three different people tried to send me an e-mail from the same place, and I didn't receive them. They aren't in my spam folder. What else should I check? Comcast Security Assurance should be able to help you with this. Call them at 1-888-565-4329 (from http://constantguard.comcast.net/dedicated-support/). Note that this is NOT one of the regular customer service numbers.
The first-line reps there are sometimes not very helpful. If so, be persistent, and keep at them until you get a satisfactory answer.

Note that those only work if your recipients have allowed it to happen.
Also, Mail will not respond to them at all.

How do I rebuild a new Mail account? (recipients not receiving e-mails)

For the last few days, various e-mails I have sent have not reached their recipients when I send them from my Mail application. There is no pattern to whom is and is not receiving e-mails I have sent. All messages show as being Sent and I receive no bounce-back error messages. Some recipients receive e-mails days later, some all the time, some not at all. If I send e-mails using other applications on other computers, including online apps, all e-mails are received successfully by their recipients.
So, I have determined through the process of elimination (after speaking with my internet provider and Apple support) that I need to rebuild my Mail account (I've created a "test" account and the problem is fixed — everyone across the board is receiving my e-mails fine). There seems to be no idea as to what could be causing the problem, but I am hopeful that at least I know that building a new account can remedy it.
The obvious question — how to I delete my old account and create a new one without losing all of my current Inbox e-mails, customized mailboxes, smart mailboxes etc. I have no doubt this process has been outlined somewhere on this forum but after some searching I haven't found anything. If someone could point me to a previous thread, I'd greatly appreciate it.
And, out of curiosity, if anyone has any idea what could have caused this (Apple Support and Internet Provider tech support both stymied) to happen, I would be interested to know!

For safety...
First Quit Mail, then I'd backup these two Mail folders, by right clicking on them in the Finder, then choose Archive/Compress.
Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail
Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail Downloads
(Could be a different folder here if you chose such in Mail Prefs)
Right click on that Mail folder, choose archive, you'll get everything in the folder, and the folder itself in a file called Mail.zip, move it to a safe place, same for the Mail Downloads folder... only the plist is separate.
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
Is this bad account IMAP or POP?
Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move these folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
Reboot.
If that doesn't do it and you can afford to redo all your Rules, try these & reboot...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist.backup

What settings did you change, what were the changes, have you visited www.icloud.com to see what mail is actually there? and do you have a backup?

Somebody here will correct me if I'm wrong, but what you have to do is go into Settings, Mail/Contacts/Calendars and under Mail, turn off "Organize by Thread". I think that will make each message show individually.

I believe there may have been recent attempts to hack into my Mail account (my LinkedIn and Facebook accounts were both hacked three days ago and a scam/phishing message sent to my contacts, and I know there was at least an attempt made to hack into one of my e-mail accounts). (And I should also say that I'm a little surprised there was no alert from Apple of suspicious activity on my account, if such was the case. The problem has been solved with the help of a MobileMe online counsellor. My MobileMe account had in fact been hacked into and the fraudster had been redirecting my e-mail messages to a phony account that he controlled. We took the forward off and reset all my passwords and security questions, which solved the immediate problem.

How to find out why we don't receive e-mail from a deployed application?

I've deployed a web application which is in production mode on a weblogic server 10.3.2.0, OS linux.
In this web application, we send e-mails using javamail library. The mail server is a remote server from this one.
At the beginning, all was working fine. Now it's impossible to receive e-mail but i've no exception launched, no trace of problem....
I've tested manually the smtp connection between both servers. It's OK.
It seems the problem comes from weblo.
The problem is that i don't know how to test it to find out what is wrong. Is it possible to see what happen in the console portal of the weblogic server and how ?
Any idea, please it's urgent !!!

Yes - it is a bit frightening... Had other Macs before this MacBook (Pro), and never experienced such a problem. Don't know - of course I look into the Preference settings from time to time, and maybe I have changed that setting on the other computers... it never occurred to me...
What an annoyance such a simple decision to make the auto-shutdown after one hour a default can be! Probably, Apple reconsiders :-D I'd rather prefer an auto-lock of the account (instead of an auto-log off)... but I believe it has been expressed often enough that, in this particular case, the - pardon me - Windows-solution (to offer a simple lock of the account, the Windows-L-key combination, IIRC) is much more practical... to copy that behaviour under Mac OS X, You'd have to go through lengths...
