How to apply validation rule for View Object (VO) attributes?

How to add Validation Rules to VO attributes, just like EO Business Rules?
I got 2 problem with that:
1. VO can join multiple tables, and the attribute's validation rules may reference to the fields from multiple entities.
2. Since the EO Validation Rules only execute before the data actually write to entity (Commit operation). But user may need to input data from multiple pages with only 1 commit.
I am using JDeveloper 11g with ADF BC.

Just something to point out, the EO validation doesn't fire on a commit (if you mean commit as in the database/AppModule commit). You can also access VO information from the EO validation rules by using view accessors.

I have a LOV on my form that is created from a view object.
View object is read-only and is created from a SQL query.
SQL query consists of few input parameters and table joins.
My scenario is such that if input parameters are passed, i have to join extra tables, otherwise, only one table can fetch the results I need.
Can anyone please suggest, how I can solve this? I want to build the query for view object at run time based on the values passed to input parameters.

As I understand you want to change the query at run time.
If this is what you want, you can use setQuery Method then use executeQuery.

hi praveen,
when u create the transformation for the DSO, it asks for the source. in that you enter your datasource, then you get the datasource fields on one side and the rules in the middle and the DSO objects on the other side. whichever field of DataSource you want to refer in tranformation rule, just connect that field to the rule for the required object of the DSO.

How to Add/Edit validation rule for Column in ADf table(Jdeveloper11g)

I am working on Jdevloper11g with ADF table. There i have one column where user can enter numeric value in range 1-1000 .So i have to add validation as such he/she can't enter value apart from 1-1000 range also not any other charcters.
I know on form, if i select attribute from binding and right click i will find one option "Edit Vlaidation rule..." and from there i can change validation rule for perticular field.
But how i can achive same on Column's filed??

Meaning of "Apply Validation" property for DataControl

(JDeveloper 9.0.5.1, ADF) I ran into the Apply Validation property for DataControls in the ADF framework. I am curious what this property (allowable values true an false, default is false) will do. I have looked in the online help and googled around but I cannot seem te be able to find any clues. Is there anyone out there who knows what this property is for?

ApplyValidation=True implies that the binding should declarative client side validation on the attribute value before calling setAttribute on the business service object.
There is no declarative mechanisms today to define such validations for non-ADFBC business services. For such cases, the only validation that I can think of right off, is Precision validation that will be performed if Precision information is defined on an attribute.
In future declarative rules UI (as in ADFBC) will be available on all datacontrol definitions for bindings to be able to generically apply client side validations before applying a value onto the business tier object.

Business Rule on View Object

I have a View Object based on an Entity Object. I am trying to add an attribute validation on the view object from "Business Rules" section of View Object. However the "New Validator" action on the context menu is disabled. I could not find documentation on this. Is this not possible or am I doing something wrong?

User, please tell us your jdev version.
If your VO is based on an EO you can add rules for EO attributes in the EO only. If your attribute is a transient attribute in the VO you can add rules for this attribute in the VO.

Validation Rule for Accounting Document type

I have an requirement to block certain accounting doc type to get vendor line item post in that. For that I tried to block direct through OBA7 but not be able to also can't delete number range as it is shared by another doc type. My last option is Validation rule but i never work on this ,so any suggest how to create validation rule " To Block Accounting Doc type SO THAT THERE WILL NOT BE ANY line item posting occur in that doc type.

ok sure. OB28 callpoint 1. Create a step under this callpoint.
1) Prerequisite is as follows: note XXXX is your company code and ZZ is your doc type.
BKPF-BUKRS = 'XXXX' AND
BKPF-BLART = 'ZZ'
2) Then you need to enter the check. Here you can just put FALSE.
3) The last part is to create your message. Message type E so they get an error and then create a message number in the class that you choose and give it a description:
Document Type 'ZZ' is not allowed
Save it and wah lah!

I want to change the font Arial to Tahoma in almost all pages I visit, but with the exception of websites as wikipedia.org. Because of this, I find myself having a very long list of domains to change Arial to Tahoma, only because I don't want that rule to apply to wikipedia.org and additional one or two other websites.

Sorry to say but I am not aware of any customization which restrict an expenses type based on personal number..
There is a setting which can restrict Travel Expense Types based on Employee Grouping. Please go through below path.
Travel Management-> Travel Expenses-> Control Parameters for Travel Expenses-> Control Parameters from Travel Privileges-> Define Employee Grouping for Travel Expense Types

There is currently no native way to email groups from iPad.
The only way to do this is if your recipients are already members a a distribution group controlled elsewhere such as a Google Group or an Exchange Organisation, then you can email the distribution group address which will then in turn forward to the individual email address of the members.
Does it have to be email as currently you would have to add each recipient to the email manually.
iOS to my knowledge doesn't support contact groups in context other than organisation.

While posting document in FB01, we are entering cost centre in line itme. Businee area is picking from cost centre master.

I want to assign different business area for this cost centre.
For that I want to define substitution rule.
I have defined substitution rule and activated in comapany code but it is not working. Please guide me how to define Substitution rule for the same.
I have defined prerequisit as Comapny code = 2053 and Cost centre =11310 and transaction code = FB01 then
Substitute business area with Y045.
It is not working .
Please guide me where I did mistake and how to rectify the same.

how to set Legislation rule for Enhanced Retro
How can i setup Enhanced Retro for Global HR International.
Iam implementing HR/Payroll on latest 12i. I am using HR International.
when i execute the following query , there is no records

I have created events, event groups, enable dynamic triggers for my business group and legislation(IQ) and enter the corresponding event group and retro element in the Element screen(retro component).
And i update one allowance in the back period , and I found one row has been inserted in pay_process_events table. But i am not able to run enhanced Retro Notification report and not able to find any Enhanced Retro concurrent request.
Any one have any idea?

There are no specific concurrent programs for Enhanced/Advanced retropay. The old ones still do, and derive under the hood the method of retropay.
I do not recall by hard the setting to activate enhanced retro (but it is a legislation rule), but it should show already in the element type screen. If you have the retro tab in the screen, and first you have to specify the method (Adjustment, ...) before specifying the retro element type (and time span), then you know that enhanced retro is configured correctly.

Hi how to apply Chronological sort for a month column?

Hi All,
I am struck with how to apply Chronological sort for a month column that contains values like January, February, March, April, May, June.... December. If we apply normal sorting then we can arrange the column values either in ascending order or descending order. But i want the column values to be in this format like jan, feb, mar,apr....dec. Is it possible???
If this is possible then pls tell me the way in a step wise manner for my better understanding..
