How to arrange items in an application

Hi,
I'm new at APEX and at this forum
My Question is:
I want to create a region that shows a certain record from a table but i want to be able to arrange the items by my choice.
when i create the region based on a form items are arrange verticaly and when creating it with tabular form it is created horizontaly
how can i read one record from a table and be able to arrange it by my choice?
Thanks!

Hi 937e291f-dc9b-4640-be53-1915bfb41c2a,
Since you are new, there are a couple things we suggest before getting to your questions.   It can help you and help to get your question answered faster/more easily.
We need as much relevant information as possible upfront. This should include:
Full APEX version
Full DB/version/edition/host
OS Web server architecture (EPG, OHS or APEX listener/host OS)
Browser(s) and version(s) used
Theme used Template(s) used / modified  -- (Revelant/important for some problems.)
Region/item type(s) and
more detail about what you want to do.
===========================
Since you are new to the forum you don't know we're kind of informal here. Could you tell us your name and even change your "display name ..." to a friendlier handle? For example, I'm Howard.
You are correct that tabular forms arrange one row/record per line but the data items can be reorder.  Some can also be hidden.  This is done in the Report Attributes tab of the report.
A region based on a form arranges the items vertically but you can rearrange them.  See http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=991204:57 Login as user demo password demo.  To see the code, go to http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=4550:1
Use Workspace APEX_EXAMPLES_01  User demo password demo.
Warning I'm new at this too, so my code will never win any awards.  But it may show you some techniques.
Kind regards,
Howard

  • How to arrange items

    Hello,
    I have created a user and given him the 'Manage Items' privilege on page1. This page1 is published as a portlet on page2 and the user can only access page2. When accessing page2, the user clicks the 'edit' link and can add items.
    However, how can I make the 'arrange items'-icon to display next to the 'add item'-icon??
    (It doesn't work to give the 'Manage' privilege on page1, it still only shows the 'add item'-icon.)
    Can I change the 'Manage Items' privilege in some way?
    Thanks
    Malin

    You can rearrange within the categories,  but the categorie placement is fixed.
    Maybe in due time a third party work around will come to the surface.

    <li>Oracle Applications User Interface Standards for Forms-Based Products</li>
    <li>Oracle Application Framework Personalization Guide</li></UL>
    These and all of the other related EBS documents can be found in the Oracle Applications (EBS) Documentation Home and don't forget the Oracle eTRM Technical Reference, but you will need an Oracle Support contract to access this site.
    When you can't find your answer in these document sources, you can always ask for help in the E-Business Suite group of forums.

    How do I transfer Adobe CC application from one hard drive to another?

    I think you have to start Creative Cloud application, uninstall those CC applications from "Apps" panel, then click "Preferences..." menu item, select "Apps", change "Install Location" to another hard drive, then install those applications from "Apps" panel again.

    When you have selected an album, look at the menu 'Sort by', next to the 'All media' button. Set it to 'Album order'. Then you can select (highlight) one or several items and move them around in the browsing space.
    Note that PSE11 is missing the alphabetical sort order (that has been introduced in PSE12).

  • How do you find out what application is generating a plist file in your preference folder?

    I have had two similar warnings come up in Drive Genius 3, a program that I use to manage my drives.  The warnings occur during a daily verification of preferences on my main drive, a 256GB SSD.
    They state:
    "The preference file at '/Users/me/Library/Preferences/com.analogsolutions.Football.plist' may be corrupted."
    "The preference file at '/Users/me/Library/Preferences/org.machinedevelop.National.plist' may be corrupted."
    Per Drive Genius' advisement, "Corrupted files can cause appplication crashes and should be moved to the Trash." I delete the files, however they are regenerated each day.
    Q: How do you figure out what application is generating a preference file?  And is there a way to tell if this is a OS generated preference file?
    I have searched online and cannot find any information about either Analog Solutions or Machine Develop nor am I able to discern what these particular .plist files are for...
    Q: Are these two .plist files truly potentially harmful?

    Hi Everyone, sorry for the late response.  I have been monitoring my Preferences Folder; every moment I am on my computer trying to catch what application/process generates these files.  I was hoping to try your suggestions, but oddly enough the offensive .plist files have not returned since the last time I deleted them about a week ago.... strange...
    In any case, I have responded to some of your suggestions and questions that I have information on:
    X423424X wrote: Ok, can you double click the .plist file?  If so it should attempt to launch the Property List Editor (in your Utilities folder).  That way you can look at stuff in the plist.  Maybe (hopefully) there's something in there that can shed some light on who is creating it.   If Property List Editor cannot open the file (some apps create files that have the .plist extension but don't actually create the proper XML format -- probably what ProSoft was alluding to) then try opening it with a text editor.
    The .plist file when opened in text editor contains a string of (what to me seems to be) an arbitrary list of numbers.
    Linc Davis wrote: Those files have been given obfuscated names so you won't know what created them. They must contain encrypted registration data for some third-party commercial software that you use.
    Yes, seems likely...
    Linc Davis wrote: It should be fairly easy to find out what application is creating them, if you really care. Move the files to the Desktop, then log out. Log back in while holding the shift key as you click the "Log In" button. That will prevent your login items from loading, among other things. Open your account preferences and launch the login items one at a time by double-clicking them in the list. After each one, check to see whether the files have been recreated.
    Ran through login, one by one, no luck in identifying the application(s).
    X423424X wrote: Another thought, lock the plists on the hope that whatever is using them will "choke" and complain about it (no guarantee that will work but worth a try).
    Thanks, the lock idea is the one I will try next if they ever reappear...
    X423424X wrote: Also, I don't recall if I asked this but if those plists are deleted while logged in will they be recreated during that same login session.  Or do they only appear after you deleted them and then and then logged out and back in?  Or do you have to reboot to recreate them?
    Unfortunately I do not know for certain.  Though from all my login/startup/reboot tests I believe that they are not directly linked to starting up the machine or loging in either.
    I'm not really certain why the .plist have not returned.  I haven't uninstalled any programs, though I did run a couple updates for some widgets within the last week; however that was about 3 days after I deleted the last set of .plist files and usually they reappered everyday.  In any case, given that they have not been regenerated I guess my problem is solved per se, at least I am no longer getting that annoying warning everyday.   Still, it's a bit of a mystery
    Thanks again for all the help!

  • ERR-1002 Unable to find item ID for item "F145_QUERY" in application "4000"

    Hi all,
    First I will give you an overview:
    APEX version: 3.2.1.00.10
    DB Version: Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.1.0.7.0
    Now the problem description:
    I have a report region of type: Function body returning sql_query.
    After the sql_query is written into a variable, I would like to fill an application_item or page_item. The problem is, it is returning the error:
    ERR-1002 Unable to find item ID for item "F145_QUERY" in application "4000"
    After that I tried to create a stored function (return varchar2, because a sql_query is generated) which has got the same structure. Also I am trying to fill the session state of the application item.
    Then I am just having the following code in my report region:
    declare
    q varchar2(30000);
    begin
    q := function_name;
    return q;
    end;
    Funciton example:
    create function simple_example return varchar2 is
    q varchar2(30000);
    begin
    q := 'select sysdate from dual';
    apex_util.set_session_state('F145_QUERY', q);
    return q;
    end;
    But even then I am getting the error.
    Is it a bug? And how can I solve the problem?
    Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance,
    Denise

    Hi Scott,
    most of the time the obvious solution is the best, I agree.
    But I have checked that one, before I posted the thread ;-)
    And yes, the error message really says Application 4000. That is, why I am so confused, cause I know that that is the APEX itself.
    The actual code is written within the report region. As I said, I tried 2 versions.
    The second version is explained above and the first version was the code within the report region:
    declare
    q varchar2(30000);
    begin
    q := 'select sysdate from dual';
    :F145_QUERY := q;
    return q;
    end;
    The report region is a normal report with source_type = Function_returning_sql_query.
    That is all I know, and now I hoping to find someone who has got an explanation or a even a solution for this. :-)
    Thanks,
    Best regards,
    Denise

  • How to make item references dynamic in my trigger [SOLVED]

    Hi. I have a Key-List-Item trigger on my form for a date item named bundle_exceptions.actual_dt. This trigger code is displaying a calendar when the user performs a key-list-item action on this date item. Throughout this code there are hardcoded references to my item in two different ways:
    1) :bundle_exceptions.actual_dt
    2) 'bundle_exceptions.actual_dt'
    Since I have multiple date items on my application I would like to know if I can make this code more dynamic. Since the cursor is sitting on the item at the time, I thought I could reference :system.current_block and :system.current_item. But I can't seem to get the syntax correct. And to complicate things, I'm even more confused as to how I could get these system variables to match the two difference ways the item is referenced in the code (see above).
    I would love some help or advice on solving this issue. I really don't like the idea of copying and pasting this code to every date item I have on my form. Thanks in advance.
    ========= CODE =============
    date_lov.get_date (nvl(:bundle_exceptions.actual_dt,sysdate),
    'bundle_exceptions.actual_dt',
    (get_item_property('bundle_exceptions.actual_dt',x_pos) - x_adjust),
    (get_item_property('bundle_exceptions.actual_dt',y_pos) - y_adjust),
    'Calendar',
    'OK',
    'Cancel',
    TRUE,
    FALSE,
    FALSE);

    Here's what I ended up with. I never could get the Name_In and Copy built-ins to compile because of syntax errors. I'm sure this was my own doing...but I just couldn't do it.
    Anyhow, this code is working for me know. Thanks so much for all the input.
    ========= CODE =========
    PROCEDURE Call_Calendar_Popup (for_this_item in varchar2) IS
         y_adjust number := 1.6; -- this is the height of the popup box
         x_adjust number := 1.8; -- this is the width of the popup box
    begin
    -- Depending on whether this proc is called from the item itself (say a key-list-item trigger) or
    -- from another item (say a when-button-pressed trigger) the cursor may first need to be moved to the
    -- item we want to populate from the calendar
    if upper(:system.current_block||'.'||:system.current_item) <> upper(for_this_item) then
         go_item(for_this_item);
    end if;
    -- if the items xpos (horizontal) is closer to the edge than the pop ups width push it over to the right.
    if get_item_property(:system.current_block||'.'||:system.current_item,x_pos) < x_adjust then
         x_adjust := to_number(get_item_property(:system.current_block||'.'||:system.current_item,x_pos));
    end if;
    -- if the items ypos (vertical) is closer to the edge than the pop ups height push it down.
    if get_item_property(:system.current_block||'.'||:system.current_item,y_pos) < y_adjust then
         y_adjust := to_number(get_item_property(:system.current_block||'.'||:system.current_item,y_pos));
    end if ;
    -- popup the calendar so the user can populate the date text-item
    date_lov.get_date (nvl(Name_In(':'||:system.current_block||'.'||:system.current_item),sysdate),
    'bundle_exceptions.actual_dt',
    (get_item_property(:system.current_block||'.'||:system.current_item,x_pos) - x_adjust),
    (get_item_property(:system.current_block||'.'||:system.current_item,y_pos) - y_adjust),
    'Calendar',
    'OK',
    'Cancel',

  • How to arrange RJ45-DB25 converter for the 8 pins

    Hi guys
    I am trying to connect my laptop to cisco router console and so far I have roll-over cable with RJ45-DB25 and my laptop has DB25 connector which I usually use for printer.
    can anyone tell me how to arrange the 8 pins from RJ45-db25 converter?I am trying to access the console the cisco router using RJ45-DB25 converter since my laptop does not have DB9 connector for me to use the Cisco management cable.
    Any hint will greatly appreciated ... thx...
    By the way, I found this website explaining lots of combination for the pinouts...but I am doubting myself to which I should apply...
    http://64.233.183.104/search?q=cache:VlyAwdwuGT4J:www.perle.com/support/cabling/documents/RJ45_Non-Standard_Cabling_Example.doc+how+to+wiring+rj45-db25&hl=en&client=firefox-a
    I am also able to narrow it down by finding from this website below:
    http://pinouts.ru/data/pin_rj45todb25_cisco.shtml
    I am confused with pin number 7 since from the diagram above link there are 2 pinouts I can use i.e. 4 and 5 for the RJ45...is that mean I can use either?
    well hopefully someone has experiences in this...

    That is the only way that you will be able to get it to work, short of adding a standard serial port to your laptop. I am forced to use the same method to access my equipment also as my laptop has no serial port either, only USB.
    The drivers for the USB to Serial adapter will make it look like a COM port on your laptop. Mine shows up as COM5. This will allow you to use your favorite terminal application with the adapter.

  • Always used 1 main account.  Started using individual user accounts. So how do I use software or applications with a lot of data like Quicken under my own user account?

    I recently upgraded our family's mac to OS X.  I thought this was the perfect time to create and use "user accounts".  We had always used 1 main account.  So how do I use software or applications with a lot of data like Quicken under my own user account?  I wanted to be able to manage my own itunes library, iphone apps, messages.  But I still really need to use the Stuff I have in Quicken essentials.  I don't want to have to restart all my work done in Quicken already.

    I haven't used Quicken in a while, but most applications store your files in your Documents folder. Is that where your Quicken data file is? What you do next depends on how many family members need to get at that data.
    If multiple family members need to use the Quicken data file, try moving it to the Documents folder in the Shared account. That is an account that all accounts can see. It's at the same level as the other accounts. In other words, Shared is one level up from your Home account, or Hard Drive/Users/Shared.
    If you're the only one allowed to see that Quicken data, move the Quicken data file from the old main account to your account, and don't leave a copy behind. You can use the Shared folder as a way station for the transfer since you won't be able to see both accounts' Documents folders at the same time (because you're not allowed to peek into other people's accounts). Or you can use another disk or server for the transfer, as long as you can get to it when logged into either account.
