How to attach files like .doc, .xls, .pdf and so on in Design Editor (WYSIWYG)

I want to attach files like .doc, .xls, .pdf. etc in my Design editor, instead of importing those files. Is there any way to do that. Please help.

Hi Vinay.
Would these files be editable and if so, where would they reside? If you want people to be able to edit the files, you need to consider where the files are located. If you link directly to a file in RoboHelp, a local copy is copied into your project as a baggage file. If a user then clicks on the link, the local copy is opened and any edits can not be saved back to the WebHelp's output location. However if you were to create an image (like the ones you used above) and added a hyperlink to the file's location - i.e. on a network drive outside the project, this would enable users to edit and save changes to the original file location. Till now I've just been able to send messages and some small icons as expressions. So, my next step will be making my progam able to send even other files like audio, video, images and text to the person on the other machine to whom I'm chatting. But as I don't have any idea on how to start doing it, I want anyone who think he/she can help me to give me the basic logic that is used to do so. I would very much appreciate it. I've used vectors to store the text messages which is visible to all the users using the chat program enabling them to see various messages in it.

Now, I got stuck because the code doesn't seem to work well. For large files with around 40 mb or more size couldn't be sent. I have constructed the code, just rough sketch, as follows:
** In the Server Implementation class I've used FileInputStream to read the contents of a file that is sent as an argument to the method.
** Similarly, in the client side I've used RandomAccessFile to save the received array of bytes.

How to batch convert office files like doc to pdf?

version: acrobat pro 7.08
i want to convert about 500 doc files to pdf and have tried to set printer to "Adobe PDF" printer with using batch "printing all" to convert my doc files, message box always asked me saving directory and tmp file for each doc converting, i just want it can process all files and no question, is there any way to do it? thanks

If so, you've a Microsoft "exotic", as it were, which is not, as far as I can determine, among the file formats support by Acrobat's conversion process.
The listing in Acrobat's Preferences (Convert to PDF category) and the information at the link below can provide one with a good sense of what is or is not supported.

What ought to provide a PDF is a File > Print using the Adobe Printer from within the viewer feature in MS Access or with the View App for those without MS Access.

I need to create a pdf from 2 different file formats, for example .doc and .xls file and merge the contents of the two files into a single pdf.Also the final pdf created must contain bookmarks and links. Thanks in advance.

You can do this on the desktop using the Acrobat SDK as a custom plugin.
You can do this on a server with Adobe LiveCycle PDF Generator.

Spotlight stopped finding files, even after "index". They're visible files, not system files (like.jpg, .xls, .doc). This happened for no apperent reason.

How to attach files from "Office" to E Mail

Hi,
I am using a Nokia Lumia 720. and I have an outlook account, which I use with regularity.
I have faced a problem which is still not resolved - how to attach files in the mail.
1. You open Outlook Mail or any mailbox that you are using and then you click on the "attach file" icon and you are taken directly to Albums. But the word, excel files which you want to use are stored in "Office". There is no way you can attach a file from "Office" after you have typed your mail.
2. So I used to go to "Office" first, select the file, share it in Outlook or any mail I am using, and then type out my mail. But in this way I could send only one attachment.
I believe that there is a way to address this issue and I would like to know how?
Shall be obliged for your suggestion/solutions.

hi mate, in the upcoming Lumia Black update, the Microsoft part of the update (GDR3) has enhanced support for attaching Office format files. the Lumia black update is expected to start rolling out in early 2014.

Is there a way to attach our files directly from our hard drive to the post?

Just a guess on my part, but I would suspect non-image files in this case.
As Ted points out, that WAS possible early on, and then the capbility to attach non-image files, was actually retained by a certain few forums, though not for long. This change was coincidental with a major spam attack, and at least one disgruntled user attempting to attach some rather nasty "stuff." I do ot know if those events prompted the change, as I was not part of the decision making group, that initiated the change.
Though 95% of the files that I wish to attach, ARE image files, there are times, where a TXT file would be ideal, say for a crash log, or similar. Now, I can convert that TXT to a PNG, but then one has to work with pixel x pixel dimensions, and some files, like those crash logs, can be rather long.
Personally, I find the loss of the Attach File (was via a button at the bottom-left of the editing screen) to be a sad comment on the actions of some, on these forums, but then that just reflects life outside of the forums.

Can't copy .doc, .xls. pdf's

Ok,
I'm on OSX 10.4.7 connected to my windows xp home through my linksys wireless router...
The problem I'm having is trying to transfer files over but I keep getting "The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items."
Once I nail down the items that can't be transfered, there's nothing in them that I can tell that would stop it from transfering. It's not locked, I can read and write with them, I can alter the files themselves on the PC. They've been authorized on both computers. It seems to be with word docs, xls sheets and pdfs...but those are mostly what I get from the client anyway as attachments.
The only thing that is different about these, is that they were once attachments sent through email, so I'm not the orginal author of them.
Anyone else have this problem? If anyone can help me out, thank you in advance.

A couple of ideas come to mind.
Are you running antivirus on either machine? What happens if you temporarily disable it?
Also, you may need to use the Spotlight System Preference to not scan your connected Windows drive.

How to attach files in the new BT Yahoo system

Can anyone tell me how to attach files to an email in the new system, please? I have a particular reason which is too complicated to go into here why occasionally I want to send files using web-mail rather than an email client (yes, I do know that's the best way). When I click the "attach" tab, I get an (apparently) helpful page which enables me to add several files at once. But there's no "continue" or "do it" button to get me back to the email I've started, and since ther's no tabs in the new system, I'm stumped.

If you want to sync your iTunes library on your Mac to your iPad ....
Connect your iPad to the Mac and launch iTunes. Click on your iPad's name on the left side under the devices heading. Then click on the Music tab - and select the music that you want to transfer. Does your iTunes window look like this - with Sync Music checked and the playlists or albums checked as well like in the photo below?
When you click on the apps tab do you have Sync Apps checked and all of the apps in the window below checked to sync as well?
If you select all of the items under the different tabs in iTunes - music, apps, photos. etc. - when you sync - all of the selected content should sync over to the iPad.

PDFMaker is not available for Mac OS. However, you can still create PDFs by using the File > Print command. In the Print dialog box, choose Save As Adobe PDF from the PDF menu.

I cannot attach files in Gmail within Firefox. I can attach files in Gmail from Chrome and IE.

I know it has been mentioned elsewhere too ( https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/999383 ), but I cannot reply to that message... so, here it is again, with full details of the testing we have performed so far....
ALL users or our organization are currently affected.
When you try to attached a doc, xls, pdf, etc. in Gmail the results are all the same in Firefox. You get a red bar with "attachment failed" and an option to cancel or retry.
We have tested with our Proxy On and Off. We have tested with no extensions loaded (I get the message with my 3 extensions on or off -- Adblock+, Ghostery, HTTPS Everywhere). Versions on which the issue has been seen include 25, 26, 28, 28.0.1 and 29.0.1 (the latest as of this post). Most users in our organization do not use extensions with Firefox.
Attachments link up just fine in IE 10 and 11, and Chrome (with Adblock, Ghostery, and HTTPS Everywhere turned on). This error is only seen in Firefox, with or without plug-ins.
Operating Systems used for testing were Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.
The issue was first reported to us today, 5/13/14, but it is unknown if the issue has been around longer. However, Firefox is our organization's default browser due to countless web software vendor recommendations. We most likely would have heard before today if the issue has happened previously.
Any tips or suggestions would be welcome here.

Without trying any of the fixes, the issue seems to have gone away on its own. All users (of about 7 reporting in) can attach files within Gmail using Firefox as of 5/15. We did not try any of the 4 fixes listed above. On 5/13 and 5/14, users could not attach files to Gmail messages within Firefox.
However, on the day of the issue we did try all the mentioned fixes (except #4). All affected users had all history and cache wiped, updated to v29.0.1, and the latest Flash plug-in from Adobe.com. We have the browsers set to clear all history, temp files, cookies, etc. at exit to avoid any cached data issues. We tried with proxy on and off too. Attachments were in the 20K-35K range, so very small. They failed on 5/13 and 5/14 within Firefox, but attached fine in IE and Chrome on the same days.
So, not sure what the issue was, what caused, or why it went away... but we cannot reproduce today, as of 5/15.
