How to avoid responsibility context switcher?

Hi all.
i developed an OAF page called from JSP. i can navigate from jsp to OAF page successfully.
and i set pageContext.changeResponsibility() in processRequest(). i checked the information in 'About this page' and Responsibility was set on pagecontext .
but if i open the OAF page at first time, following message and 'Switch Responsibility' is occurred.
"The current responsibility context has been switched to: Application Developer".
i want to avoid this message and poplist on my page. how to avoid them?
Please let me know.

Hi This happens when the redirected page/ function is available from more than one responsibility which you have.
MFG-0180-OSA is your custom responsibility and the function you are getting is available in some other responsibility?

How to avoid version information in http response

Hi,
We have a SAP java web application in webdynpro framework developed using SAP NetWeaver.
If I right click on broswer and see View Source of the page, it is displaying information related to Development components, java version, SAP version etc..
I am very new to SAP and would like to know how to avoid the information.
I have already tried setting useServerHeader to false and DevelopmentMode to False in SAP J2EE engine.

Here's an easy way:
Pick the user that you want to eliminate (making sure that the remaining user has administrator privileges) and move all of the data that you want to keep into the Shared folder. Reboot or log out and login to the user you want to keep. Copy all the data from the Shared folder into your account - placing it neatly in folders (Documents, Music, Movies, etc.).
Once the data is moved, log into the account you want to delete just once more to make certain that you've grabbed all the data you want to keep. Log out and log back into your admin account and go to System Preferences>Users & Groups and delete the 'old' user.
That should do it.

How to avoid the dialogue when converting from context menu

This is a follow-up to http://forums.adobe.com/message/2016146#443364 which was locked due to a bug.
i would like to know how i can avoid the 'save as' dialogue when using the context menu to convert a word file to pdf using windows XP/acrobat 8/word 2007.
so far, it always prompts me for the filename, which is annoying as it does not allow me to batch-convert several files and let the thing run its course.
the solution provided by Steve in the other thread does not work - even if the plugin from word does not propt for a filename, it still does when triggered from explorer/context menu.
so back to square one: how to avoid that dialogue when not opening word at all?

For a permanent change, START>PRINTERS>right click on Adobe PDF printer and select properties>General>Printing Preferences>Adobe PDF Settings. Under the settings tab, uncheck the box related to asking for a name. Pretty sure that is the location, but it may vary with version.

How to avoid long user interface response time in long measurements ?

Hi
I tried to find more information regarding techniques how to avoid long user interface response times in case of extremely long measurement times with an external instrument communicating over GPIB, so I post this hoping to get some hint or a link to a guideline. I guess this is quite normal problem.
Problem is that when I want to measure long time in order to get an average result from the instrument, I have to wait until the result is returned from the instrument. Obviously that makes the user interface response very slow in traditional technique.
My restriction is the old GPIB 488 instrument driver that I would not want to modify, but I have source code to it.
What would be the best way to improve the response time for user interface ? I have looked into the few things:
* multithreading
* callback in main program for GPIB events
* modifying instrument driver e.g. to support VISA and creating a VISA callback

Several ways to do this:
If you're getting several measurements, you could have the instrument generate an asynchronous interrupt (an "SRQ" in GPIB terms), then collect the data in response to the SRQ callback. While you're waiting for the SRQ's, you can have your main thread running the interface so responsive GUI. You don't have to spinlock on the GPIB read waiting for instrument data.
Or, as you mentioned, you could spawn a thread to manage the measurements, and use a timer in the main thread to periodically allow you to check the status of the measurement thread. Again, the main thread mostly just runs the user interface.
Either way, the idea is to keep the main thread freed up most of the time to run the GUI, and have it periodically check for completion of your measurement sequence. While you're waiting in the main thread, you may want to make sure the user can't inadvertently re-trigger another measurement sequence until the active one is complete.
If you do find yourself doing a dead wait, you'd want to break this up into a series of shorter waits, and in between each wait, do a ProcessSystemEvents from the main thread to keep the GUI active.

I have tried the solutions mentioned in the below threads , but its not resolved. I'm new to OAF and cannot be sure if I've done everything that is necessary.

I did go through the metalink document you suggested. But it wasn't the appropriate solution for our issue. I used the solution suggested in another thread in this forum and it worked.

I added a new VO which fetched the list of responsibilities for the user that was logged in and assigned the first responsibility from that list explicitly.
Below are the specific lines of code added in CO.processRequest which worked

At what level are you asking the question?
In the context of PL/SQL, there is no loop. But if you pull back the layers and look at the intermediate language the procedure is compiled into, how the PL/SQL VM happens to implement those intermediate language instructions, how Oracle's C code happens to implement the VM, etc. it wouldn't shock me if there was some sort of loop-like construct in at least some level in some version of Oracle in some situation. Particularly depending on what you want to count as a loop at that level (somewhere in the SQL engine's C code, for example, Oracle might well have a loop when you're doing a full table scan, though it's probably not particularly useful to talk about a full table scan being in a loop)
In addition, why are you asking the question? I cannot envision a functionality or performance difference between the two approaches, so it doesn't seem like something that would have any influence on how you use a particular PL/SQL construct.

How to avoid the message in the dashboard report

I am developing Dashboard reports(graphs) using WAD. Query and WAD are working fine. I need to put a variable for Calendar Month or Year in the graph .I am populating the Variable with default value initially and I am getting the correct result . But if I change the Variable value second time, I am getting a message (type I(information) ) in the same screen which says that 'You cannot change variable ZCALYEAR_WT01 for charact. 0CALYEAR during query navigation' . And below is the detailed information about the error message.
The Can be changed in query navigation property has been set for variable ZCALYEAR_WT01, characteristic 0CALYEAR. However, the variable is used in the query in such a way, that the system is unable to apply this change-option.
This can, for example, occur under the following conditions:
Characteristic 0CALYEAR is filtered by additional restrictions (the restrictions must be joined using an OR-connection)
A second characteristic, which is restricted by a variable, is compounded to charcteristic 0CALYEAR.
Variable ZCALYEAR_WT01 is a hierarchy node variable, but the hierarchy has not been determined uniquely.
A variable can be changed during query navigation only if it is used exclusively in a drilldown-characteristic, and there are no further restrictions to the characteristic other than this variable. There must be no additional characteristics with variables compounded to the characteristic you are working with. For variables for hierarchy nodes, the hierarchy must be determined uniquely and agree with the set display hierarchy.
Also, if the characteristic value is moved, for example (ZCALYEAR_WT01 - 1), the variable is no longer able to be changed when navigating queries.

Procedure
I checked the query definition and it is not having any offset or any other restrictions for Calendar Year
It is used for finding the total quantity by country for the year .Hence Quantity keyfigure is added in the Keyfigures and Country is in the Rows and Calendar Year is restricted with Variable in the global filter .There are no other fields and no other restrictions .
I am still trying to figure out why the warning apprears in the DashBoard. Since this Dashboard report will be used by the Power users and this warning message will be annoying to them .Hence I need to find how to avoid this message.
Kindly do let me if anyone has faced this and solved earlier.

I'm receiving some personnal SMS (through iOS 5 imessage) on an old iphone I've already sold. How to avoid that?

I used to have an iPhone 3GS, which I recently upgraded to iOS 5 and sold. This device doesn't have any of my personnal information inside anymore (several resets and reinstall iOS5 from an blank iTunes on a seperate computer) and doesn't have my chip inside anymore.
I am using a new smartphone (not Apple) now and when I text friends who have iPhone (with iOS 5 and iMessage), I receive some of the personnal responses on the old iPhone. It seems those messages are sent through iMessage...
How to avoid that? I sold this iPhone and I don't want the buyer to receive my personnal message + I don't want to miss them on my new phone!

How to avoid output file and error lines when condition does not match

Hi Experts
A customer want to send purchase order files to several vendors and each vendor has their own requirement to content and file format. I have prepared scenarios for each vendor and a template is (conditionally) called when CardCode matches. It works fine, - PO file is generated when CardCode matches, but error lines are written to SAP B1 Control Center each time CardCode does not match the one defined in a scenario (100 or more times per day). Problem is that these error lines does not get automatic deleted. Conditional processing are made in this way:

Or - can lines in SAP B1 Control Center be automatic deleted?

Hi Steen,
using <b1im_skip> should be the right approach, if you're working with B1 OUTBOUND.
Following extract form the B1i help describes the usage to skip the outbound processing:
1.1 Skipping Outbound Processing
If you do not want to hand over the message to the receiver system, the scenario step can create a special tag that indicates to generic processing in the integration framework to skip the message processing.
Add the following to the final transformation atom (atom0):

If the integration framework skips the message, it puts the message log information to the Filtered section, if the message log is switched on. The result message contains the Message skipped by vBIU logic information.

not possible from inside AB AFAIK. but you can do the following. in finder open the folder /users/username/library/application support/address book/metdata. switch to the list mode and sort by date modified. quicklook the vcards at the top to see which ones they are.

hi dear all in recent times i am trying to install oracle developer suite 10g to learn forms and reports in my lap having windows 7 ultimate version ,32 bit,2.56 GB of ram .I downloaded two files ds_windows_x86_101202_disk1 and ds_window_x86_101202_disk2 and i downloaded Oracle universal Installer but i am unable to complete installation process ,When i click on complete(1.11gb) version which include forms,reports,xml,j developer I am facing this type of error message
"Install has encountered an error while attempting to verify your virtual settings.please verify that the sum of the initial sizes of the paging files is at least 256 mb"
Could any one help how to avoid this type of error message ? or else is there any other way to download Oracle forms and reports version

Ok, Oracle Developer Suite (ODS) 10g (Forms/Reports) was not designed for Windows 7. In order to the ODS you must follow these steps for the installation to be successful.
1. You must set the Virtual Memory (VM) size. The Oracle installer can not read Windows Managed VM. See the Microsoft article Change the size of virtual memory for more information on setting the VM size.
2. The Oracle Installer does not recognize the internal version number of Windows 7, so you have to set the compatibility mode on the Setup.exe to Windows XP. Right-Click the SETUP.EXE and select properties. Then click the Compatibility Tab and in the Compatibility Mode area set this to "Run this program in compatibility mode" and select "Windows XP SP3".
3. You must run the ODS setup.exe as the Administrator. Right-click the setup.exe and select "Run as Administrator".
Having done these three steps, your installation should be successful.

Overhead of SQL to PL/SQL context switch using an inline function

Hi,
We have a bit of sql in a third party application that uses an inline pl/sql function to do some security checks.
These security checks are redundant in our system - we don't use the functionality so the result is always true, but the function is always called for each line of output, which is over a thousand for a lot of records.
The function itself is fairly lightweight in our environment - the tables it uses are empty so each iteration of the function is quite quick (about .1 of a second per query in total, vs 12-15 seconds for the 'main' query). What I was wondering if there is any way of measuring the overhead of just doing the function calls.
If I do a trace of the session I see the timings and cost of the 'main' sql query, and the breakdown of the 2 sql statements that have been called in the function (with over 1000 executions each) but is there any way to measure how much of the time to execute the main query is spent doing the context switch?

You could knock up some example to show the timings and measure it...
The following shows an example using context switching from PL/SQL to SQL and back in a loop, which gives an idea of the performance difference...

SQL>Likewise you could time a query with X number of rows calling a PL/SQL function and not calling a PL/SQL function to see the difference. The more rows you do, the better idea you'll get of the difference.
