How to bind (if possible) Windows 8 clients to OSX Open Directory 10.8?

I read several articles that I have to go through the magic triangle (bind the Open Directory to an Active Directory), but almost all of the articles are from 2012 and below.
This is possible now?

ZFS Storage supports LDAP, NIS, AD as directory service.
Hope Open Directory is also based on LDAP and may work in similar fashion.

Possible to convert ordinary accounts to Open Directory accounts?

This might be a naive question. But I need to set up accounts for users on this Mac Pro configured with Leopard Server and they may need to be Open Directory accounts, i.e. we may decide to create portable accounts for the whole cluster and have them hosted on this server. I won't know for sure until we have fully discussed the intended uses of the machine, which could take some time. So I am wondering if I can just give users ordinary accounts using System Preferences and then convert them at a later date to Open Directory accounts. I tried to do this with the first account I created for myself on the system and found that the name spaces of the two kinds of accounts conflict, and it's especially hard/dangerous to change a short name (is this really true??)
It would be confusing for users and a headache for me if everyone has two distinct and unrelated accounts. Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm thinking you might be getting System Preferences and Server Preferences confused? Your original post was about converting ordinary accounts to Open Directory ones? Provided you've configured the Server as an Open Directory Master with all that that entails then you can install a clean OS on your clients. Provided the DHCP Server is handing out the correct information then after the OS has been installed and at the point the Setup Assistant asks you to create the initial account you should be given a choice to either create one locally or use one that is from Open Directory. If you choose the latter option then a generic local admin account gets created anyway. This is how its supposed to work. However you could forego all of this and simply create a secure local admin account. Join the client to the ODM using the well established method. The same result is achieved.
If you had chosen Standard instead of Advanced a lot of the auto-discovery bit comes into play. To be honest I don't really know although judging by the documentation and what some have posted here this is what happens.

Promote a replica to Open Directory master
If an Open Directory master fails and you can’t recover it from a backup, you can promote a replica to be a master. The new master (promoted replica) uses the directory and authentication databases of the replica.
Select Open Directory in the sidebar.
Click Servers.
Select a replica to promote, then choose Promote Replica to Master from the Action pop-up menu (looks like a gear).
Enter the directory administrator name and password.
If you archived Open Directory data with certificate authority keys, you can restore them by entering the Open Directory archive location or clicking choose to locate the archive.
Click Next.
Enter the user name and password for the replica that’s being promoted, then click Connect.

How to create a dialog window with no button that opens along with the main window?

When the main window is open, the dialog window opens up immediately and can be closed by key press. At other times, when the next step, ie: decision, comes to, the another dialog window pops up again and is again closed by key press. Does anyone know how to do? Use the sub-Vi? notification method? occurrence method?
And another thing: how to create a reusable dialog window with no button so that different messages can be sent to it and it can closed by key press. And how to pass the string to the title of the dialog window programmatically?

For your functionality (If I understand it right), nothing needs to be in the event structure. Pressing any key just triggers the event, thus finishing the VI (there is no while loop).
Could you tell me what you mean my "it won't run properly"? Make sure that the front panel of the subVI is closed before starting the main VI. Remember that the subVI is set to "open when called" and "close afterwards if originally closed". So, if you had the panel open already, it won't of course close when finished!
(Actually, the problems is worse when you have the subVI panel open when starting the main VI. you get a catch22 and labVIEW locks up because (1) the subVI is set to dialog and grabs all attention but (2) it has not been
called, thus the event cannot be triggered. So don't do that!!!! As a quick workaround, add the modification shown in the attached image to ensure the panel of the subVI is closed.)

First thing to try is Reset the Type Tool by right-clicking on its' icon in the Options bar.

How to keep live chat window from minimizing and stay open while browsing on tab

while using a live chat window and trying to also access information on the same tab I have it open in or any other tab, the chat window minimizes to the tray and does not reopen automatically. To open you must re access it from the tray and as soon as you search elsewhere for info, it minimizes again! Very annoying when trying to troubleshoot and get help through a chat window. I want the window to stay open so I can access the information I need and chat at the same time.

When you say chat minimizes to the tray, do you mean the Windows "notification area" or "system tray" down on the Taskbar, or a tray within Firefox itself, for example, created by an add-on and positioned on the Add-on bar (which is a feature which can be added by an add-on)?

How can I enforce Parental Controls on a group of network users on an Open Directory client?

I have a Mac mini running OS X Server (Mountain Lion) and have a client family iMac that is a client of the Open Directory server. I have created network users for my kids and put them into a group and created Parental Control restrictions that apply to members of the group. However, the kids can log into the iMac with the same network accounts and no Parental Control policies are enforced on the iMac.
I'd like to restrict times and hours per day, as well as the obvious content/website restrictions. I'm not sure why the Parental Control policy isn't being enforced. While I'm not great at it, I do have a basic understanding/overview of knowledge on Windows Server administration, but OS X Server seems to be waaay different...
I have fiddled with the certificate, and I have told the client iMac to trust the certificate coming from my Open Directory server, but it doesn't seem to make much of a difference with the enforcement of the kids group's Parental Control policies.
Can anyone assist or offer any suggestions?

Adding Client to open Directory

I am trying to add a client machine to Open Directory but it will not bind. It gives me a error
Unable to add server
An unexpected error of typr -14142 (eDDSchemaError) occurred.
When I try to add the machine it will say machine is already in OD, but I look in OD is is not their. It will not let me over write the machine in OD eather.

Is this machine a clone of another machine? My guess is you did not reset the local KDC. This will cause the issue you are describing. You need to do the following on all cloned machines as they will all contain the unique identity of the original master's LKDC. The machine that is the master does not need to be altered.
1: Open Keychain Access.
2: Select the System keychain.
3: Find the three entries labeled com.apple.kerberos.kdc and delete them from the System keychain.
4: Open Terminal
5: Run this command to destroy the local Kerberos DB (you will need to authenticate as initial admin):
sudo rm -R /var/db/krb5kdc
6: Run this command to rebuild a unique LKDC for this machine:
sudo /usr/libexec/configureLocalKDC
7: Repeat this on all cloned machines.
Once complete, you have re-run Directory Utility and perform your bind. You will now be creating a machine record with a unique LKDC value in OD.
PS: You can do these steps 1 through 5 pre-cloning to avoid the issue. Then once cloned, run step 7 as a post-cloning step.

In our project we are using this type. Since in this project server in UNIX(DEC) and client is running on windows. We have created a listener which always listen requests from client and doing the according to the request.
Step1. create a request table, where u are inserting ur request.
step2. create PRO*C proram, which is listening request on the table. If there is any request, call the imp (executable). This is happening on server side.
Benifit. U can make a request from cleint and ftp the file client sit.

rather »walk-around« the »enginering aproach. So, how can we mass deploy InTune client with GPO. We need to extract the msi from exe. The command is »Windows_Intune_Setup.exe /Extract <destination-directory> ». The command extracts exe to x86 and x64
client msi install. Then we can deploy throw GPO. The »WindowsIntune.accountcert« file must be in the same folder share as described in document http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj676611.aspx.
