A good book to start with is Enterprise JavaBeans by Monson-Haefel (O'Reilly press). It covers deployment of EJBs on J2EE servers. Also check out sites specific to your server, sometimes they have specific requirements (like Weblogic).

Status Update - don't know if this is a bug, design flaw, install problem or my misunderstanding.
I got it to work by first changing my Flex library to 4.5.0 - still didn't work with current
app and update mxml files using "2.6" for their namespace versions. But I did at least
get the popup error number 16815 - indicating an error in the update version namespace.
By leaving my application namespace version at "2.6" and changing the update version to "2.5" ... bingo!
I got my new update installed autiomatically.
Is this how it's supposed to work - or are my runtimes mixed up?
Will this work the same using the Flex 4.5.1 SDK? I'll find out shortly

Unfortuntly, this seems like a case of bad commuication by Adobe and the Flex team. If notable community experts get the impression of closed doors, then *certainly* the rest of us get this impression as well.

Im a solid dev, and not an expert but I can contribute in things such as testing and low level optimization; But, the Adobe open source site is a galactic disaster and discourages me from getting invloved. It has so many webpages that just go around in circles - filled with text that is verbose, this frustrates me to a great deal. As opposed to somehting straight foreward like:

Everything is here and easily notable. I avoid the seamingly endless pages and confusion. If I want to submit a feature request I am directed to create another login for some Bug and Issue management? HUH? I thought I was submitting a featue request.

Next when I finially do get to Flex SVN, this trunk. is nothing like I have seen.what IS all this stuff and where do I go to learn about it? There are countless subfolders filled with things I vaguely understand and if I want to learn what it is. where do I go? Is there even a src folder?

I just spent 5 minutes or so twirling through all these SVN directories and Adobes website and I am clueless. I feel like the project is unessarily complex and disorganized - even if it isnt. This just convinced me to delete my Flex sdk bookmark on my SVN client.
Adobe just lost one potential contributor to Flex SDK.
We have another idea that were bouncing around that I hope to share in a week or two but wont get into now.
Saying stuff like this is what gives people the impression of closed. Why not post these ideas the Flex team has? Even if it is stupid or incomplete

Wow, thanks for your response. This is great. I now understand that I had a combination of prejudice and ignorance when regarding Adobe Open Source. Perhaps my ignorance on these particulars is something that other devs encounter ( that whole perception thing ). I have chatted with people who consider the Flex SDK and Flex Builder... not the same... but fused together so much that it'd be just crazy to try and use one with out the other When I mention using Flex without Flex Builder.... people get that glazed over look in their eyes....( FYI I'm a FDT man, but am keeping a close eye on the new Flex Builder ) I'll use Zend as an example ( it's the best that I can come up with ) but I feel like there is a difference between the open source framework and Zend Studio ( commercial software ). Anyway, I'm really excited about how you've responded to all this. I have more ideas, but Ill sit on them and think it through and get ready for next weeks meeting. Hi Arnold,
here my answers to your questions:
1) You don't need to install flex under EP, you need only adobe flash player 9 on EP
2) If you want to develop a SAP Ep cont using Flex, you need adobe flex builder 2 or 3 (ide based).
3)You can store under any EP folder (es. KM) the .swf object and html page of FLEX application, create an iView and call the url link
or load the .swf as mime object in BSP on backend syst, include in a bsp page and create iView for bsp..

Test fails during build - flex-pmd-ruleset

Hi, I have followed the developer documentation for how to build the project, on step 7 it fails because the following tests are failing inside flex-pmd-ruleset:

To use mx:RemoteObject with CFC you don't even need FDS, you
can use FlexBuilder 2.0 and use it's internal FDS SDK to build,
compile and deploy full apps to be used in conjunction with CF 7.02
(Flex Connectivity)
Secondly, if you do want to install the full FDS 2.0
enterprise software you can find the instructions to do so for J2EE
apps servers here

Unfortunately, it is not possible in Xir2 to create Webi reports from stored procedures.
Webi reports can only be created from Universe. So in Business Objects XIR3 we can create a special universe that enables Web Intelligence user's to access stored procedures residing in the database. This is the only way that Web Intelligence user's can access stored procedures.

I have just started to use Muse for our design agency and learning how to build ourselves a new site, I have managed to create a basic lightbox which contains sliding images, what I need to do now is have a pop up window which goes into detail about the projects, what I would like is a piece of text or icon that when you roll over it and then click a separate window pops up with additional information in, once finished reading the info you can then click to close the box, any advice on how to do this?

The best way to do what you're asking is with the Composition widget. Start with the Tooltip preset, which, by default shows the info on rollover. You can change the option to show on click, which is what you're after. You can also add the close button or have the info disappear on rollout.

Alternatively,
1. ccd.war has 3 portlets in it:
(a) custom content definition portlet
(b) custom content portlet
(c) workflow portlet
2. Inorder to work with these portlets, user needs to be in anyone of the below roles:
(a)Consumer (b) Editor (c) Approver (d) Administrator (e) Submitter (f) Contributor (g) Publisher
3. By default ccd.war gets deployed using a default roles file (/var/opt/SUNWportal/tmp/ccd.roles.properties)
Note: In windows, you may not find this file
4. Access the portlets as a user in any of the role mentioned in the ccd.roles.properties
(OR)
you can use a new roles file which has mapping to your custom roles. For this , undeploy existing ccd.war and deploy again with a new roles.properties file

How to build the FM data I_header and I_orgdata

hi all,
Im working on the conversion program for AVL using the following function modules
BBP_PD_AVL_GETLIST
BBP_PD_AVL_CREATE
BBP_PD_AVL_UPDATE
BBP_PD_AVL_SAVE
In the function module BBP_PD_AVL_CREATE , how to build the FM data I_HEADER and I_ORGDATA.
I'm giving 3 input in Export parameter in BBP_PD_AVL_GETLIST and E_pdlist should contain data .
but e_pdlist is not getting data...any suggestion..
after execution it was showing "Buffer table is not up to date"
