How to burn downloaded movie clips to dvd

some friends emailed me a home movie and i can't get it to burn. i put it in toast and it showed that it burned but it wouldn't work in the dvd player.

You have two options:
1<</div>
If you want to burn just as a file for other computers to read it, then just drag it to the blank DVD-R, CD-R, DVD-ROM, etc.
2<</div>
If you want to burn it as a tracked DVD for DVD players to read for special purposes, then use a simple application called iDVD. Just follow through its guidelines and soon you'll be able to burn it. Just remember to use DVD-Rs.
Hope that helps...

I am having difficulty figuring out how to burn my iMovie to a DVD.  Has that feature been eliminated?

unbelievable... the amount of RAM is the issue... I found a post (http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=soundblaster&message.id=8448) on an unrelated matter, but the user solved their issue under X64 by limiting the amount of RAM WinXP x64 was using by editing the boot.ini file.
The basis of the "trick" is to add " /maxmem=4096" to the end of your OS line, but I elected to copy the line and add it to a new entry so I could easily select which "mode" i wanted at boot.... like so...
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition()\WINDOWS="Window s XP Professional x64 Edition" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition()\WINDOWS="Window s XP Professional x64 Edition - X-Fi tweak" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /maxmem=4096
amazingly this solved my issue... but now my system properties only report 2Gb instead of 4Gb... unacceptable!
When Can I expect a fix for this Creative?

  • How to save downloaded movies to a dvd

I purchased a digital movie download, and I was trying to save it on a blank DVD.  When I saved it,it says its unable to play when I put it into another DVD, it says it doesn't have any audio.  Need assistance.

Do you mean you purchased one of Apple's movies, or was this another source?  Movies can be saved to DVDs as data files for backup purposes and should be playable on your authorized computer.  You cannot play the DVD in a standard DVD player with a television.
If the problem is with a burned backup then it is a general disc burning problem.  You can try a different brand of disc (do not use cheap ones), slow down the burn speed.

  • How to burn full hd clips onto dvd-r with Blu-ray burner to playback on a set top Blu-ray player?

    hello,
Blu-ray media is still expensive for exporting of small HD projects.
    If i have a Blu-ray burner,
can i burn BD exports onto DVD-r's (4.7Gb)
and play them in a set top Blu-ray player?
aka:  Does a DVD-r accept a 'blue laser'?
(Menus at this point are not necessary)
Mostly i am wanting to burn 3-4 minute music videos onto DVD-r discs
in full HD Blu-ray without having to use an expensive Blu-ray disc each time.
    thanks
    j

    hello,
at this time the answer is yes
they are called BD5 and BD9 discs
the BD5 is a single layer DVD-r disc that holds BDMV
the BD9 is a dual layer DVD-r disc that holds BDMV
now i'm trying to see if Encore CS5 burns BD5/BD9 discs?
    thanks,

  • Import home movie clips from DVD

    Hi all -
I've been trying to wrap my non-computer brain around the process of importing a previously burned home movie clip from DVD back into iMovie so I can add to it. (I messed up the first burn, but because of limited space, I deleted the original clip.)
I'd be happy to get it back to tape on my camcorder if that is the only way to do it, but I fear losing quality.
I've downloaded Mac the Ripper and Streamclip, but I don't want to pay extra money for any software (I'm a poor, starving student mom).
    Can anyone help out?
    Christine.

Your burned DVD uses MPEG-2 file format. You'll need more software:
    MPEG Streamclip (free).
    Apple's MPEG-2 PLayback Component ($20).
Use Streamclip to open the DVD contents and export to DV Stream (huge file). Use the .dv file in iMovie.

  • How do I burn a .mov file to DVD?

I need to burn an MPEG-2 video file saved as .mov to a DVD that will play in a regular DVD player.
I have tried opening iDVD and the selecting 'Create a New Project'. When I have selected a location for the project and the main window opens, I go to File > OneStep DVD from Movie...
My understanding is that when I import a movie file, it will burn it straight to the disc without any further options. It does this, however after a couple of minutes the DVD is ejected blank and iDVD says the burn has completed.
How can I solve this problem or is there another way to burn a .mov file to DVD?
    Thanks, Dan

A green screen in an indication that the movie is in a format not supported by iDVD.   It should be in one of these formats:  DV, high-definition video (HDV), MPEG-2 SD, MPEG-2 SD, MPEG-4 SD, MPEG-4 HD, and AVCHD.  (From SDMacUser's post in What input file formats does iDVD...: Apple Support Communities). The post has other requirements that need to be met.
    SD = standard definition.
Open your movie with QT Player and bring up the Info window for the movie.  It will have the format:
Another possible reason is the Energy Saving settings on the Mac.  Turn off energy saving and screen saver before starting the save as disk image or burn.
Other possible fixes can be found in this tipic: Green Screen with audio after Burning: Apple Support Communities

How can I improve quality of image when burning a movie to a DVD?

What resolution are you using?  If the DVD is to be playable on an ordinary DVD player, only ordinary TV resolution is supported.  You need Blue ray for HD.

I want to burn my movies to a DVD but, it tells me to go to iDVD toolbar on my iMac. If it does not show up how do I find it?

You'll need to purchase iDVD 7 via the boxed iLife 11 disc from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com: iLife 11(US store)  since iDVD has been discontinued by Apple and is not being distributed with new Macs or in the Apple store.

How do I burn a movie to a dvd that will play in a dvd player?

If you want to burn a video file which doesn't have any copy protection (DRM), there is a great free App called 'burn OSX'. Google it if you want to use it.
If its a iTunes movie, and you want to play it on your TV you could use a cable connected to your iPod/iPhone/iPad or use an Apple TV box.

Thanks for your help!  Yes I've got FCP X....;) But I'm asking now myself: Do DVD Studio Pro and Toast work with FCP X? Of course, I can import normal files, but I think, that I'll loose a lot of quality, if I don't export files directly from FCP X right?

how to burn slide show too a dvd-r in web superdrive plugged into the usb port

I think this link will offer some good insight. I would recommend moving the library to an external HD if you are already using iPhoto on your MBP. If you do decide to move the library directly to your MBP just make sure you are using a different enough name for it that your MBP can easily locate each library independently.

  • Burning a movie onto a DVD+RW ??

How come when I burn a movie on my DVD+RW, it works when I play it through my mac laptop computer, but it doesn't work in my DVD player???
Do these require two different disks or something?

one of my older set top dvd players also has issues with rw (and/+ plus) media. not uncommon. I think it's because some RW's have a lower reflective surface than standard dvd-r (and again this varies by brand /manufacturer). so yes, this can happen.

  • Burning Purchased Movies onto a DVD

If I purchase and download a movie from the iTunes store, can I burn that movie to a DVD the same way that a burn or back-up my music to a CD? Also, if I put the movie onto a DVD, will it play in a DVD player?

Not exactly, to anyone reading the Terms of Service, it's not all that apparent really. Here's what the Terms say:
"(vi) You shall not be entitled to burn video Products or ring tone Products.
(vii) You shall be entitled to export, burn (if applicable) or copy (if applicable) Products solely for personal, noncommercial use. "
To me, this just tells me that I can't burn video products, but then contradicts itself saying that I CAN burn video products, but only for personal use (in other words, the standard rules of not reselling or distributing videos, as all videos state in the beginning)...
I did read the Terms before making those purchases, and they are not very clear. So with this in mind, I do blame Apple for not stating the terms more clearly...

  • How do I download movies/videos on my iPad 2, How do I download movies/videos on my iPad 2

How do I download movies/videos on my iPad 2

the movies need to be sync'd through itunes like "templeton peck" said. so if you have movies in itunes it is as simple as going to your device there is a section there that says "movies", and you just "check" the ones you want on your ipad and when done just hit the "apply" button and they will be added to your ipad. i would suggest that you sync movies via the wired method as compared to wireless syncing. wireless syncing a movie will take a lot longer than a wired sync.
if you don't have any movies in itunes but do have them on your computer all you need to do is drag and drop them into the "movies" section in itunes. and then follow the instructions i gave.
if you don't have any movies on your computer you need to convert them, and unfortunately discussing how to break the encryption that comes on commercial dvd's is prohibited here. but there is a plethora of advice and websites on the web and all you need to do is google it.
most of the blu ray dvd's these days also come with a "digital copy" of the movie. if you have a "digital copy" just insert the digital copy into your computer and enter in the "digital copy code" and you can choose to download it to itunes or window media player, you obviously want to choose itunes.
i would also stay away from movies that have digital copies advertised as "ultraviolet digital copy". this is a brand new and it doesn't play well with itunes and you cant play it on your ipad unless you go through "their" app. it's a real pain... right now only a few titles are "ultraviolet" they are "horrible bosses", "green lantern", and the soon to be released "harry potter and the deathly hallows part 2" (11/11/11).
you can also just buy the movies from itunes. that is what i did on the "ultraviolet" dvd's i wanted to watch on my ipad.
