How to capture Boolean returned by Type Function in rule

Hi All,
I have created a Rule by using Type(Where exist) with certain condition. My rule is returning false. So my execution rule is not triggering.
So my requirement is!
Type returns false then i want to return true to make sure my rule is triggering.
Thanks,
Gupta

Gupta,
If it returns False, then you don't want your action to execute, correct?  What does your rule look like?  If you are having trouble writing or testing the rule, run it on the Windows based ATE (Agentry Test Environment) and turn on rule debugging for that rule.  You will be able to see the execution log for the rule and see where the problem is so you can modify it successfully.  Unfortunately, there is no way to see or debug rule execution on smart devices to this point.

    Thanks
    Vijaya

    Hello Vijaya,
    Incase of BAPI's they have a return table parameter T_RETURN. Just read that return table to get the error message.
    Incase of normal function modules, there will be exceptions raised for the message used inside the function module. Just read the sy-subrc after the FM and based on the sy-subrc value find the respective exception raised.
    May be you can try like this, whenever the message is raised it will be stored in the system variable.
    CALL FM.
    check for the system variables.
    sy-msgid = Message ID of the latest message raised.
    sy-msgno = message number of the latest message raised.
    sy-msgty = message type of the latest message raised.
    sy-msgv1 = variable1 of the latest message raised.
    sy-msgv2 = variable2 of the latest message raised.
    sy-msgv3 = variable3 of the latest message raised.
    sy-msgv4 = variable4 of the latest message raised.

  • How to capture carriage return in SAP Business One?

    Hi guys,
    I am using C# for developing a plug-in for SAP business one 2005, I tried to use '\n' to capture carriage return in some fields that are stored in SQL server 2005, but it didn't work. I tried the same code in a C# windows application and it worked. I just want to know that if the carriage return in SAP has a special sequence code for that or not.
    The code I tried is "
    string s = "something";
    if (s.contains('\n'))
       //do something;
    Thanks  a lot

    Hi,
    I guess you did a typo: Chr(9) is TAB... I think you meant Chr(10).

  • How to capture all the values(occurrence) using Extraction Rules(correlation) in VSTS web test?

    Hi,
      I am using VSTS 2010 for performance testing and have a question about Extraction Rules functionality.  Requirement below.
    Example :
    Server Response
    <a>1</a>
    <a>2</a>
     <a>3</a>
    <a>...</a>
    we need to capture all the values with same left and right boundary. Along with the number of occurrence from the response. We need pass a random value in the
    index where the index value will be between 0 - count of values with same left and right boundary.
    How to find out the count of values with same left and right boundary.

    Thanks for Adrian's help.
    Hi PChav,
    Based on your issue, I think that the Adrian's suggestion is useful for you, so I suggest you could refer the Adrian's suggestion to check your issue.
    In addition, I suggest you could also try the rogeorge's suggestion to create a custom extraction rule to do this.

  • Calling an Oracle function of BOOLEAN return type

    I am facing a situation, where I have defined an overloaded function in one package (2 variants) which both return a type BOOLAN value under Oracle 9i R1.
    I am having trouble to setting up an CallableStatemnt to call one of this functions from Java. Whenever I set the parameter with a BIT or NUMBER data type, I get an exception with java.lang.boolean during my
    callablestatement.setobject( index, parameter, OracleTypes.BIT );
    or
    callablestatement.setobject( index, parameter, OracleTypes.NUMBER );
    I have no problem calling the function from SQLPlus, but doing so from Java raises the exception. I have found no exact match in OracleTypes or java.sql.Types for a BOOLEAN data type.
    In your response do you mean to modify the Function to return a NUMBER instead of a BOOLEAN, or do you mean to set the parameter as Types.NUMBER in the calling java code?
    Thanks,

    How to get BOOLEAN from STORED PROCEDURES
    Re: Creating Named Query: from OracleCallableStatement
    This would possibly be due to 'restriction in the OCI layer'. Can anyone help? Is there really now way to call a valid PLSQL stored function via a named query when the return type is BOOLEAN?
    thanks

    I can't comment on possible issues you might have with the driver, but if it can be done in JDBC, it should be possible in TopLink.
    TopLink has the StoredFunctionCall which extends the StoredProcedureCall but adds an unnamed ouput parameter in the first spot of its parameter list. You will need to get the databasefield and set its type to BOOLEAN ie:
      DatabaseField returnField = (DatabaseField)yourStoredFunctionCall.getParameters().firstElement();
            returnField.setName(name);
            returnField.setSqlType(Type.BOOLEAN);Be sure not to use the setType() method, as I believe TopLink will try to use the Type.BIT when a boolean class is used as the classtype.

    In above code how to capture 'EV_RC' when FM is called as background task.

    Prakash,
    CALL FUNCTION IN BACKGROUND TASK allows no IMPORTING parameters, so that your code will produce a syntax error.
    The calling program can only handle errors of remote function calls (RFC) if these are either
    - synchronous RFC  (that is CALL FUNCTION ... DESTINATION ...) or
    - asynchronous RFC (that is CALL FUNCTION STARTING NEW TASK ... DESTINATION ...).
    Both synchronous and asynchronous RFC allow the capturing of errors by means of exceptions. But that is a different topic.

  • Use of boolean returning functions in a project

    Hello all gurus,
    in my project, we have a fairly important packaged functions that return boolean values. Working with these ones in pl/sql is very fine. But sometimes we need to reuse these functions in SQL, but no luck because bools are usable under pl/sql only and can't interact in any way in SQL statements. So the workaround should be to use these functions to return us some Y/N or 1/0 to emulate boolean behavior in SQL statements.
    Here what i tested with not luck:
    -- not work
    select r.role, sys.diutil.bool_to_int(dbms_session.is_role_enabled(r.role)) as is_role_enabled
    from   dba_roles r;
    -- not work
    select r.role
    from   dba_roles r
    where  sys.diutil.bool_to_int(dbms_session.is_role_enabled(r.role)) = 1;
    -- not work
    select t1.id,
           bool_to_char(my_bool_func(t1.x, t1.y, ...)) as is_something
    from   t1;
    -- not work
    select t1.id,
           sys.diutil.bool_to_int(my_bool_func(t1.x, t1.y, ...)) as is_something
    from   t1;The odd wrapping trick as a last resort solution is working....
    -- Works! Seems the only way, but a lot of wrapping work...
    create or replace function my_bool_func_wrap(p_x number, p_y number, ...) return varchar2 as
    begin
       return bool_to_char(my_bool_func(p_x, p_y, ...));
    end;
    select t1.id,
           my_bool_func_wrap((t1.x, t1.y, ...)) as is_something
    from   t1;I read a lot, but no elegant and working way.
    Is there a more standard, elegant universal way to call bool functions from SQL?
    Is creating a custom type visible and usable from both pl/sql and sql, if possible, a way to go?
    Any other pointers?
    For new development, is it good to make my boolean type returning functions using SQL compatible type like CHAR (Y/N) or NUMBER (1/0) ? It will make us less wrapping job, but more and less elegant bool handling code on the pl/sql side.
    What is the goal to have bool only in pl/sql and not usable in SQL? It's kind of a feature incompatibility in the same product. Strange...
    Thanks a lot

    Finally, I'll have to dump the BOOLEAN return type to all our boolean functions and return char instead. With this I will be able to call then from SQL.... From this perspective, BOOLEAN is useless.I would not say that. Let's assume that you implement boolean in SQL as a single byte character string containing either Y or N, enforce that with a constraint and also add a not-null constraint to it.
    You simply define two PL functions (not usable from SQL) that deals with the conversion. You use the one function to change boolean to char before hitting the SQL engine, and the other to convert char to boolean when getting data from the SQL engine.
    As I/O routines are modularised, it means that you need to deal with these conversions once only when writing and once only when reading (per module).
    Simple example:
    SQL> create or replace function to_bool( c varchar2 ) return boolean is
      2  begin
      3          return( c = 'Y' );
      4  end;
      5  /
    Function created.
    SQL>
    SQL> create or replace function bool_to_char( b boolean ) return varchar2 is
      2  begin
      3          if b then
      4                  return( 'Y' );
      5          else
      6                  return( 'N' );
      7          end if;
      8  end;
      9  /
    Function created.
    SQL>
    SQL> declare
      2          i       integer;
      3          b       boolean;
      4          flag    all_tables.temporary%type;
      5          tab     all_tables%rowtype;
      6  begin
      7          flag := bool_to_char(true);
      8          select count(*) into i from all_tables where temporary = flag;
      9
    10          select t.* into tab from all_tables t where rownum = 1;
    11          b := to_bool( tab.temporary );
    12  end;
    13  /

  • Stored procedure and function - return table type

    Hello again :)
    I have one simple question :) Maybe on this forum the question was asked, but I found only similar question and they didn't help me.
    It's possible return in Stored Function (with StoredProcedureFunction) as result return TABLE type? Or return table type with output parametr with Stored Procedure? Or instead of the table return the db object, but it is similar problem:)
    Now, I can using db types TABLES or DB OBJECTS as INPUT parameters with call stored functions or procedures, for example:
    I have this simple db object:
    create or replace type BUFFER_DATA_R as object( detail  VARCHAR2(4000 ))
    And this simple table:
    CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE BUFFER_DATA_T IS TABLE OF BUFFER_DATA_R
    I create simple domain class object:
    *public class DMBufferDataStruct {*
    public String bufferData;
    And I mapped in java with ObjectRelationalDataTypeDescriptor:
    ObjectRelationalDataTypeDescriptor descriptor = new ObjectRelationalDataTypeDescriptor();
    descriptor.setJavaClass(DMBufferDataStruct.class);
    descriptor.setTableName("BUFFER_DATA_T");
    descriptor.setStructureName("BUFFER_DATA_R");
    descriptor.setPrimaryKeyFieldName("DETAIL");
    descriptor.addFieldOrdering("DETAIL");
    descriptor.addDirectMapping("bufferData", "DETAIL");
    and join to server session ...
    Well, i using this doimain class object as input parametr wih stored procedure call:
    ObjectRelationalDatabaseField ordf = new ObjectRelationalDatabaseField("");
    ordf.setSqlType(Types.STRUCT);
    spCall.addNamedArgument(key, key,
    Types.ARRAY,
    "BUFFER_DATA_T",
    ordf);
    query.addArgument(key);
    args.add(paramsInputs.get(key));
    in paramsInputs is Vector of DMBufferDataStruct...
    Well, this work fine!
    But I can not figure, how to return this table from output parameters of stored procedure or as a return value from stored function?
    Example of exceptions:
    The number of arguments provided to the query for execution does not match the number of arguments in the query definition. - return as output parameter
    PLS-00382: expression is of wrong type - used as result from stored function
    So, my question is: Is possible return this table type from stored procedure or function? And if YES, how can I set output argument for call?
    Thx advance!
    Sorry for my English! :)
    Best regards, KLD

    Your question is: what is faster PL/SQL or PL/SQL? And the answer is: it is PL/SQL of course!
    As a general rule, you use a function when you return exactly one result: a number or a string or (more complex) instance of an object type or REF CURSOR or PL/SQL collection.
    You use a procedure when:
    a) you just do the job and return no result
    b) you return multiple results - you can use multiple IN/OUT or OUT parameters
    Imagine you have to write a program unit that performs a partitioned table maintenance by adding a partition.
    You can implement this unit:
    a) if you want return a "status code" (0 on successful completion or non-zero in case of error) then you should use a function
    b) if you want no "status code" (in case of error an exception is raised that is handled outside of the program unit) then you should use a procedure
    c) if you want "status code", name of tablespace where a partition was created (assume you program is so complex that it can choose different tablespaces based on metadata and free space available) and free space in that tablespace after the creation of a new partition then you should use a procedure with 3 OUT parameters.
    But these are good programming practices that can be applied to (almost) any 3rd generation programming language, not only PL/SQL.

  • How can I remove iTunes 11 and return to a functional version of iTunes?

    So I was really stupid and updated my perfectly operational version of iTunes to version 11.  After discovering that version 11 is almost totally non-functional (missing a number of useful functions that someone decided were too helpful I guess), I want to delete this horrid example of software non-functionality and return to the last functional version (iTunes 10).  Please tell me there's a way to remove this software wart and return to a functional iTunes.

    I found the following way to return to 10.7.  I moved the following directories and files to the desktop before I deleted iTunes 11:
    Album Artwork (folder)
    iTunes Media (folder)
    Previous iTunes Libraries (folder)
    The following file is found in the Previous iTunes Libraries:
    iTunes Library 2012-11-29.itl (the date on your file will vary depending on when you decided to add version 11)
    The following are files found in the iTunes directory
    iTunes Library Genus.itdb
    iTunes Library Extras.itdb
    Once you have copied these files to your desktop, you have to remove iTunes 11.  I used the uninstall option in CleanMyMac.
    I used this explanation to return to iTunes 10.7:
    Replace the iTunes 11 application with iTunes 10.7
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/20431349
    iTunes 10.7 for OS X  http://appldnld.apple.com/iTunes10/041-7195.20120912.d3uzQ/iTunes10.7.dmg
    You will have to rescue your old iTunes library from your Previous Libraries folder and rename it iTunes Library.itl because a newer version of iTunes irreversibly updates your library file.  See:
    https://discussions.apple.com/mesage/20401436 - turingtest2 11/2012 post on rebuilding empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash from previous iTunes library file.

    Other issues:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/20432309 - solution to mobile devices saying they need to be restored after downgrading
    Once you have reinstalled 10.7, put the files and folders you copied to the desktop back into iTunes overwriting the new files that were created during the install.  Restart iTunes and you should see iTunes start to reinstall all the missing files.  This doesn't seem to recreate the playlists but I can fix that problem myself.
    So far, it seems to be working.  YMMV and I'm not recommending you try this, I'm just saying that it's worked for me.

  • [SOLVED] How to use return parameter of function as paramter of table?

    Hi all,
    As continue of post "ADF Faces: how to execute pl/sql function when page is loaded." I came up with an other problem where I can't find an easy solution for.
    The problem is easy.
    1) I execute a procedure, this returns a value
    2) I have a table which needs one input parameter
    3) How can I bind the return value of the procedure to the input paramter of the table:
    A simple example:
    1) I created a pl/sql function that returns 1
    CREATE FUNCTION zz_return_1
    is
    RETURN NUMBER
    BEGIN
      RETURN 1
    end;2) I exposed the function in my TestModule so I can use it on a jps page.
    3) I created a table TEST_PARAM_1_TABLE with two columns: a, b
    4) I created a view read-only object with one paramter
    SELECT a,b
    FROM zz_scn_test_tab
    where a = :var_15) I added the view object to a jps page as tabe > adf read-only
    6) I added a methodAction and invokeAction to execute the function on page load
    <executables>
          <iterator id="zzscntest1Iterator" RangeSize="10" Binds="zzscntest1"
                    DataControl="TestModuleDataControl"/>
                <invokeAction id="runProc" Binds="ftn_return_1"/>
          </executables>
    <bindings>
          <methodAction id="ftn_return_1"
                        InstanceName="TestModuleDataControl.dataProvider"
                        DataControl="TestModuleDataControl"
                        MethodName="ftn_return_1" RequiresUpdateModel="true"
                        Action="999" IsViewObjectMethod="false"
                        ReturnName="TestModuleDataControl.methodResults.TestModuleDataControl_dataProvider_ftn_return_1_result"/>
          <table id="zzscntest1" IterBinding="zzscntest1Iterator">
              <AttrNames>
                  <Item Value="A"/>
                  <Item Value="B"/>
              </AttrNames>
          </table>
    </bindings>how can I bind the return value of the function to the var_1 variable of the table?
    Additional to this: Is there a way to store the return value in a managed bean?
    for example: if I create a managed bean:
    public class globalVars {
        private Number ftnReturnValue;
        public globalVars() {
        public void setFtnReturnValue(Number ftnReturnValue) {
            System.out.println("return value is set to: " + ftnReturnValue);
            this.ftnReturnValue = ftnReturnValue;
        public Number getFtnReturnValue() {
            return ftnReturnValue;
    }how to store the return value in this ftnReturnValue variable?

    Thanks to Frank,
    I finally got it to work!
    For those with the same problem, this is what I did:
    - I created a VO material_details with one parameter :sequence_num
    - I created a master/detail viewlink from my materials list to the materials_details
    - In the application module, I created a call to the procedure, and within this procedure, I set the sequence_num variable.
        public Number f_ltf3_adf_syf_init(String reporting_group
                                         , String username
                                         , String RAG_code
                                         , String ABC_class
                                         , String SBU_code){
           CallableStatement st = null;
           String stmt = "M_LTF3_SFM_CALC.f_ltf3_adf_syf_init('"+ reporting_group
                                                           +"','"+ username
                                                           +"','"+ RAG_code
                                                           +"','"+ ABC_class
                                                           +"','"+ SBU_code+"')";
           try {
               // prepare the statement
               st = getDBTransaction().createCallableStatement("begin ? := "+stmt+";end;",0);
               st.registerOutParameter(1,2);  // register output parameter as Number
               //execute the statement
               st.executeUpdate();
               //set paramter in detail VO of master/view
               getLtfSyfRevDetails1().setNamedWhereClauseParam("session_seq", (Number)st.getObject(1));
               return (Number)st.getObject(1);
           }catch (Exception e){e.printStackTrace();}
           return null;
        }
