How to catch lovEvent from PageLayout region

Hello,
I've got problem with catching event, which occure in nested region.
I'm traying to perform such action:
nipValue= oapagecontext.getParameter("taxRegNum");
if (oapagecontext.isLovEvent())
lovInputSourceId = oapagecontext.getLovInputSourceId();
if ("OrgProfileQuickFlex2".equals(lovInputSourceId))
Above code is placed in the highest region controler.
The problem is, I'm getting null as a value of nipValue and event based on switching LOV has never effect.

taxRegNum is messageTextInput type so it's visible on form and I expect, that I should have access to this element on the pageLayout region. I want to use value of this object when I'm writting processFormRequest because this information is necessery when user pushing the button "apply" of form. Also, in this method I want to notice LOV event from inner region and I can't.

How to catch SQLException from a session bean

I have a stateless session bean which has a method to persist an entity (User) in the database. In User there is a foreign key (addressId) from another entity (Address). While i was persisting User, i entered a value of addressId which was not present in the Address table. Since there was a foreign key constraint on this field in User i got the following exception:

Converter.java:71)So i placed the persist code inside a try block and was catching all the exceptions thrown by persist() method. But these exception are not caught. Instead the exception is sent to the Client end and printed on the client console.
Any clue on how to catch the ConstraintViolationException in the session bean?

The problem is that the qry is not executed until you leave your method, so, the exception is catched by the Container. You should issue a entityManager.flush(); rigth "before" leaving the method and you are going to catch all the exceptions given

How to catch data from Purchase Order form, when user click CLOSE menu?

Hi,
I need do my own biz process when user click CLOSE in the Data menu to close a purchase order.
But I don't know how to get data from PO form which opened by user.
Can anybody give me some suggestions? thanks.

Clicking "Close" is menuUID 1286. (Check this by going to View->System Information, and then hovering your mouse over "Close" in the menu. The menuUID is displayed in the bottom left of the screen)
So catch the menu event, when menuUID and pVal.BeforeAction = True.
The slightly tricky thing here is that pVal for a menu event doesn't give you the form, but it will be the active form, so you can do this:

How to close PopUp (from taskflow region)???

Can someone, please, explain how to solve this use-case:
I have PopUp in which I put a region (in which is a small TaskFlow consiting of 2 JSFFs). I want to have Cancel and OK buttons in both JSFFs in TaskFlow. How to close PopUp from within TaskFlow ??? I saw the TaskFlow Return component in ADF TaskFlow diagram components (in palette) but haven't found any help/documentation on it. Or, should I use Return listener on command button used to rise popup (but, still, how to close popup from taskflow?)?
Any help would be great!

Regions/Taskflows are meant to be isolated reusable components. They are not meant to
have knowledge of their parent or container. That said, code contained with in a region should not attempt to reach out an modify the parent. Regions can fire contextual events that can be handled by a listener declared in the parent pages pageDef. However, attempting to close a popup from a context listener would be bad practice. The easiest fixt is to put the popup in the taskflow for your region. That will create a reusable popup that you can use through out your application.

How to catch events from SAP

Hi everybody:
I'm trying to set an event in SAP and catch it from a .NET progam using the .NET Connector.
I have sow the function BP_EVENT_RISE but it seems it doesn't help enough.
We want to verify if the users have use an especific transaction inside SAP program. We have user exits created and we only need to indicate over the .NET program who is listening for some event.
How can I solve this?
We are not using Business Connector.
I will appreciate any suggestion.

The User Exit only reflects one step of exit performed by the user.
The events that i need to perform have the objetive to inform that some task have been performed inside SAP, a complete task, not only knowing that the user have finished his day work.
The idea it's to know that the user finished a new human resource registration, beyond it's well done, I need to know the number of the human resource.
On this point, I need to continue the registration in an automatic way over the security system (active directory), send an event to the person who have to regiter him over the corporate system and configure his mail (if needed).
I have look and evaluate the advise, but it dosen't solve my needs. I have to wait until my user finished his job (or ask him to exit) each time he register a new human resorce, that's not my idea.

How to insert values from different region into one table

Hi everyone
I have created a page which contains 4 html regions like region1,region 2 ...region 4
in region 1 i created 2 text items like (emp_name,emp_id).
in region 2 i created 2 date fields (start_date,end_date).
In region3 i created a tabular form which contains(job , hire_date).
in region 4 i created a textfield (%of Hike)
So i want to create a button(submit) .when i press the button it will insert all the informations provided by the user in different regions will be inserted to a table called employee_information.
Can i do this?
If it is possible please tell me how to do this
if not then tell me any alternative solution.

How to catch exception from shared library on Linux?

JNI dynamically loads shared library. Shared library throws exception (class CTestException). JNI can not catch it by CTestException name, only (...) works.
My config:
Linux RH AS 4 (x86 64)
gcc: 3.4.5

g++ compiler options for JNI and shared libraries:
g++ -Wl,-E -fPIC -shared ...
There are multiple bugs on Java bugs database regarding C++ ABI incompatibility between Java binaries and stdc++ libraries linked with native code. But I could not find any conclusions on these bugs. Only plans/suggestions to recompile Java on new gcc. These bugs were quite old (regarding Java 1.3, 1.4). Now 1.6 is available but still there is same incompatibility. Maybe I am missing something and there is a way to fix this problem? Like to use specific gcc/glib versions for compilation? How people solve such problems? Any help is appreciated.

It isn't any different; the commands are the same. You can find the exp executable in tehe $ORACLE_HOME/bin directory.

How to CATCH error from call to standard SAP Function Module

Please, is it possible to catch the following error with the TRY CATCH ENDTRY construct?
From a custom program, am calling CS_BOM_EXPL_MAT_V2.
Several nested calls in, Form STL_DATEN_HOLEN (LCSS4F1I) calls FM CS_ALT_SELECT_MAT.
However, that call is missing the CALL_INVALID Exception.
CS_ALT_SELECT_MAT is raising CALL_INVALID, but since it was not included in the FM call, the RAISE_EXCEPTION runtime error is issued.
I added a TRY CATCH ENDTRY construct around the call in the custom program using CATCH cx_root, but the program is still short dumping.
All the research I have done has been misleading...some articles indicate all errors should be caught, some indicate only catchable runtime errors can be caught, others are not quite clear.
So, I would like to find out if, in this scenario, it is even possible to catch this error and avoid the short dump.
I will open a message to see about having the SAP code fixed as soon as I get authorization to do so, (as well as fix the data causing the issue in the first place), but in the meantime, I would like to handle it in my code if possible.

Hi Debra,
You cannot catch non class based exceptions using the TRY/ENDTRY. You might also find no luck with help from SAP since the FM in question 'CS_BOM_EXPL_MAT_V2' is not released for customer use. The best bet is to examine why the error is occurring and figure out what needs to be done to fix it and/or avoid it in the future.

How to catch ClassCastException from JSP page?

I get a ClassCastException within my JSP page and I know where my bug is. However, this classcastexception message is displayed in the browser and I want to catch this exception to also log it into my log file. But I can't find the place where to catch it: in my servlet's doPost() method I can't catch it - i tried it by enclosing the method body with try/catch but it isn't catched. I wonder if I can catch it at all or if this error is handled internally in the servlet engine?

It should only be displayed in the browser if you're not catching the exception in the jsp itself. If the exception is happening in the jsp, then there's no point in trying to catch it in the servlet.
What happens if you put a try-catch just around the actual code in the jsp? You could put it around the entire jsp, but that's not necessary.
One problem I've encountered in catching exceptions is if there are escape sequences within the try block, for example:

catch (Exception e)I'm not sure if that works or not, but to be safe, make sure you're not escaping from jsp within the try block.

ADF 10.1.3 - How to pass parameters from one region to other

I have a page, In a panel boarder, left hand side has a read only table and right hand side has a Form.
WHen a user selects a row in the left, I need to pass some of the values to the right hand side form.
How can I achiev the same?

I guess you mean the frame border layout. You can share parameters using the sessionScope or processScope memory map. You then need to refresh the frame that holds the form to refresh and read the parameters

Thanks to the help of James Sutherland I managed to get this working.
I had to add a call to em.flush() and use BMT for the SSB. For details please follow my link to the toplink-forum!
James thinks OC4J can handle automatic transaction retries but wasn't sure about how to configure this in OC4J. Anyone can help?

How to update data in database from different region of the same page

I have pepared two regions of tabular form based on the same table,each region is selecting different columns of the same table.
I want to update the values from different regions in the database using single submit button.

I presume that the two regions are working fine with their individual buttons and your issue is how to make them both save with one button.
Here is how
a. You will have 2 ApplyMRU and 1 ApplyMRD processes for each of the regions. Right? Lets say you have 2 "Save" (i.e. label=Save) buttons, one has name SUBMIT and the other SAVE ( SUBMIT and SAVE being the requests that will be sent when they are clicked , respectively)
b. Make the Display condition on one of the buttons 'Never'. Now it won't show when you run the page. Lets say you made SAVE's conditional Display 'Never'
c. Go and change the condition on all ApplyMRU and ApplyMRD processes from "When Button Pressed" to "Request is contains in Expression1". In Expression1 enter SUBMIT,SAVERegards

You can hide (Render = false) for first field in 1 region using personalization.
You can create new item in IInd region and bind with View Object.
Question : I m geting problem to find the name of that perticular view which belongs to that perticular field.
Ans : Check the whether you are able to get ViewInstance and ViewAttribute Name from 1 field.

How to publish contextual event from dynamic region

Hi Experts, plz help.
Scenario :
I have a page , say Page A.
I have two bounded task flows, say HeaderTF and LinesTF.
HeaderTF is placed as a static Region in page A and LinesTF is a dynamic region in page A.
LinesTF has a table with Amount Column.
HeaderTF has a text field which shows the total of amount column.
Requirement :
when user adds new rows or changes existing rows or deletes any rows in LinesTF, total field in HeaderTF should be updated.
On change of amount value in lines, I am calculating and updating the total attribute of header VO as all of them are sharing same DC.
but the value is not reflecting becos partial triggers cannot be kept for total field.
So I am using contextual events.
I created a contextual events for amount field, delete button and table as well (In LinesTF).
and I created handler method in AM which calculates total and dragged it as a text field in HeaderTF.
Now when I am trying to subscribe from pagedef of pageA, i am able to find the handler which is created in HeaderTF but could not find any contextual events in event lov.
Question :
1. Is my approach correct?
2. Cant we publish contextual events from dynamic regions?
3. Is there any alternate way of achieving this?
I did not try refreshing HeaderTF by passing input params because I dont want the entire region to be refreshed.
