How to change action message after submit

Please advise.
I'm new to APEX and Oracle for that matter. I've got a form that is being displayed with no data after pressing a <CREATE> button from interactive report(Page 1).
I fill in the data and when I press <Save Changes> button from Page 2, internally the data is processed on insert and a trigger assigns a new Serial Number. When the screen branches back to same page, all data keyed goes away and is ready for my next add. However, what I would like is to be able to show the new serial number in the action message which defaults to "Action Processed". I'd like to be able to post the serial number followed by "added successfully".
The item on the screen is P2_SERIALNUMBER and the database column is SERIALNUMBER. The serial number is created by a trigger, therefore the P2_SERIALNUMBER is just a disabled text fiield saving state.
in the submit process, I tried setting an alert script where the current default message("Action processed") is, referencing the P2_SERIALNUMBER item but I don't think the new serial number generated from the trigger is populating the item.

Apparently, did not work. I have a dozen or so fields for update on this page(2). There is an autonumber PK called PROBLEMID(hidden on form as item P2_PROBLEMID). The field I want displayed in the action message is P2_SERIALNUMBER. I tried returning the value to a secondary key on the ARP screen and tried using the message you gave me, but upon pressing <Submit Changes> button it just echoed back the message you gave me literally with no data substitution for the argument &P2_SERIALNUMBER. I also tried an alert statement in the message field using <script>alert(html_getElement('P2_SERIALNUMBER').value + " added successfully")</script>. What I got back after pressing the <Submit Changes> button is an alert message that said "false added successfully". So I don't know if the code is wrong or that nothing is getting sent back to item P2_SERIALNUMBER(defined as text field with state) and therefore returned it "false". Any more ideas would be gladly appreciated.

Please look at following settings in given order to see if language is set as German (de).
1. URL - is language being passed as parameter (sap.locale)? [This is valid only if you are the Developer of application]
2. Your User ID - Is your default language set as German?
3. Browser - Is your Browser's default language German?
4. Is 'defaultlocale' property of application set as German?
5. Is default language of project German?
6. JVM default is German?
You should find the answer to your question in one of these 6 locations. Please note that value in 1 will override values of 2-6. Similarly value in 2 will override value in 3-6 and so on.

Thanks for the reply and as a work around method I used the Photoshop to do all the adjustments then export the video to iMovie to finish the final cut. I also have a problem to paint or clone on a blank video layer created in Photoshop. It tells me the time is beyond the target frame time, I don't understand the message. You cannot change it, in CCM it was possible due to it being Windows and you had access to all the files.
CUCM does not grant access to the necessary files for this unless you have root access and it's not granted for purposes other than troubleshooting or to apply a workaround from a bug.

Passing Messages after Submit in Input Schedules

All,
I have a scenario where I would like to send messages to the user after they submit data from Input Schedule. This is very similiar to how we receive error messages when we submit entries to a parent node. My scenario is this: When users submit data, I always write data to a particular version and run thru from BADI logic for validations. If it passes the validation, I move the data to a final version or else, I would like to display the messages due to which the data is not posted to final version. Currently, I have a BADI written in default logic. Whenever I write messages to ET_MESSAGES, it appends it to the log and I do not see it on the screen. I tried raise exception using CX_UJR_EXCEPTION, but the text id is 32 characters so it displays only the first error message. In my case, if I reject 10 entries, I would like to provide info on all these 10 entries.
Ideally, I would like to write entries similiar to ET_ERROR_RECORDS (table) in UJR_WRITE_BACK but I do not see a similiar logic for UJ_CUSTOM_LOGIC. Has anyone done this before? Any input is appreciated.

This is because excel still stores the values internally in the original format. It just formats the data for the display. So you need to enter the data value correctly in the cells.
The other alternate would be to have the numbers sent from another evdre where number are multiplied by 1000 from the input cells.

Message after submit report

Hello all,
I have a program that submits a report. This report sends the output to the spool. When the process executes the submit command I get the following message:
Spool request (number &) created without immediate output.
I need the spool request number for further processing. Does anybody know how to get the message and the spool request number at runtime? Kind of like the messages we get with a call transaction into the message table. By the way, the message is NOT available in the system structure SY(SYST).

Here is what I've done in the past.
1) in the submitted program, export the sy-spono to a memory id. This should be the very last statement of the program.
2) in the calling program, after the SUBMIT statment, import the spool number into memory id.
3) do what ever you need to do with the sy-spono.

I want to change the message to hyperlink for a particular message and not all messages of a column.
and link it to another report.
for e.g-if a cell of the column has values A,B,C then I want to change only cell with values C as hyperlinks and not A and B

According to your description that you want to conditional add the hyperlink according to different values in the fields, the link is to another report, right?
I have tested on my local environment and we have two method to do this: one method is to choose ”Go to report” and add expression to conditional add the link which will link to the subreport for the special values, another method is to create
an placeholder and add the HTML tag to conditional hyperlink to the URL of the Subreport in the Report Server.
Details information for your reference:
Method one: "Go to Report":
Right click the fields which will add the hyperlink and select the “Textbox Properties”, click the “Font” to add expression conditional add an underline for ”Text1” which have the hyperlink function and change its color to blue. (expression add to
"Effect" and "color"):
Effect:

Method two: Create Placeholder and using the HTML tags to conditional add the hyperlink which will link to the subreport URL in the Report Manager.
Double click the fields which will add the hyperlink and select the "Create Placeholder".
In the Placeholder properties window, add this expression in the Value to add hyperlink only to the "Text1" and check the "HTML- interpret HTML tags as style under the "Markup type" section:

Here you can convert this messages to warning message. I urge you to please check with abaper as this may be hardcoded message and it may have implications on valuation and posting.

How to change the message value in COGI entry

I have two COGI records on a material for a plant and while creating those entries those were locked by another user. So it is getting message number as 897 and so it is not displaying in the report COGI.
Could anybody tell me, how to remove that message.

You need to Implement the corrections mentioned in SAP Notes #325105.
Solution as given in note
Both incorrect goods movements and future change records for background processing of goods movements are stored in table AFFW. Error records differ from future change records by the fact that fields AFFW-MSGID and AFFW-MSGNO are filled (error ID and error number). Process requests can only be updated via reports CORUAFW0, CORUAFWP, CORUPROC or Transaction CO1P. Error records can be updated in Transaction COGI. They are also transferred to the update, provided you executed reports CORUAFWP or CORUPROC with the "Incl. incorrect goods movement" indicator set.
In table TAFWD, you can enter specific error messages which should not be treated as an error record but as process requests.Useful candidates for such error messages are, for example, locking errors such as M3897:"The plant data of the material <XXX> is locked by the user <YYY>." You can maintain TAFWD entries by using Transaction SM31.
AFFW records with errors which are entered in table TAFWD are no longer displayed in Transaction COGI (because they have been defined as a future change record) and can only be edited for the background processing by the programs and transactions.
You can limit the error records to specific error messages in Transaction COGI by adding certain error messages to table TAFWD.
Technically, the conversion of error records into process requests decreases the time and effort spent on lock management because only the respective process (background updating of goods issues and/or goods receipts) is locked during the update of process requests.However, error records are locked separately in order to prevent other users from affecting a record which is just being updated/processed.
The following applies to postprocessing records from the repetitive manufacturing:
As of Release 4.5B, these records can also be posted via transaction COGI (in addition to the repetitive manufacturing programs for postprocessing backlogs: Transaction MF47, report RMSERI13). However, basically they should NOT be posted using reports CORUAFWP and CORUPROC, including not with the "with incorrect goods movements" indicator set.
Therefore, the definition of phantom errors in table TAFWDfor postprocessing records from the repetitive manufacturing has no effect. These records can not be redefined for future change records and must still be able to be postprocessed explicitly via transaction COGI.

ESS Business Package - How to change error message

Hi,
In ESSBusiness Package Leave Application screen, if we enter some character XXX for From and To date field and try to proceed further (preview button) It is showing a error message 'Enter the value in format 11/25/1987" that we want to change to 'Enter the value in format MM/DD/YYYY".
Please let us know from where this standard message is coming whenever we put some character values for any date control and how to change the same to customer specific message.

I have called submit report like below in RFC function module .

how to capture or skip error or information populated by submit program ?
As the function module is a RFC function module, the FM is called from some SMDL program . Once the program executes submit statement
is giving system failure exception and giving message like 'No connection with development system'.
Instead of giving messages populated in return table ,the SMDL program returns "NO connection" message.
How to display the message from return table ?

How to change page type after the fact

In the application builder, I click on an application and choose Details in View.
I get the list of pages I have in my app.
The page type column has:
Interactive Report
Navigation Form
Dynamic HTML
DML Form
Chart
Report
How do I change this column after a page has long been created?
Specifically, I want to the change "Dynamic HTML" to something else.
Why?
Because on this particular page, tabs do not work (error: page not found).
Buttons created among a regions items do not work (same error, page not found).
I need to use tab and buttons to go from this page to other pages.
And I am suspecting the page type may have something to do with my problem.

For my current app, a clinical management system,
I'd like to have, say, 1000 items.
(For other applications I am thinking about, but have no time,
nor expertise for now, I'd need millions of items,
each corresponding to a pixel of a graphic.)
Who cares if the current computers are too slow?
How about make it a parameter that can be changed
per app or per apex installation, and default to 100?
Some forms can be broken up logically, as people have helpfully suggested,
and I did follow that advise on some pages.
But other forms cannot be. People have put a lot of thought on designing
those forms, they are government or legal standards (or at least something more important
than computer performance), and people have been trained
with those original forms.
Consider the hoops I have to jump through to get more than 100 items
on a page I am currently working on:
Generate the items (INPUT type="text" and INPUT type="checkbox") using PLSQL
lots of htp.p('<INPUT ...>').
a JavaScript function to collect all the values on the page
and make up an XML string. submits this string to an application
process, and application process parses the XML string and does insert or update.
Another JavaScript to populate the items based on the current values of a row,
using an application process to retrieve the columns of a row.
There are about 150 items on this particular page.
All these are ok, because I was aware of the restriction of 100.
And because I wanted to generate my own HTML to mimic the original
form anyway.
Then things started to go weird.
I need buttons to go back to another page. and I use tabs.
Buttons to go back from this page,
when a button is created with "Create a button in a region position",
it works fine.
When a button is created with "Create a button displayed among this region's items",
it does not work, and I get HTTP 404, https://.../apex/wwv_flow.accept, page cannot be found.
But I need a button to work like the one created with "Create a button in a region position",
but displayed like the one created with "Create a button displayed among this region's items".
This is still not too bad. I saw the difference between the two kinds of buttons.
I copied the HTML code for the button "Create a button in a region position",
and used a display only item to create a Back button where I wanted:

Then I noticed that the tabs did not work any more. same error, page not found.
That's is when I got a little frustrated and posted for help on the forum.
Then I begin to undo my steps, and
by lucky accident, I noticed that, if none of the checkboxes is checked,
the tabs work fine. If at least one is checked, I get this error, page not found.
My current solution is to add a function of my own in the doSubmit(B) function in file apex_3_1.js,
which unchecks all checkboxes (o.checked=false).
And now, from this page of about 150 items,
the tabs are ok, and I have a button that is similar to one
created with "Create a button displayed among this region's items", except I created myself
using HTML.
I think this trick of using a custom function in doSubmit(), that unchecks or even hides
INPUT type="text" items (o_div.style.visibility = "hidden"; o_div.style.display = "none";)
should work in general. this function is only invoked when the user clicks the tab,
or buttons among a region's items.
Somebody said regarding restrictions on drugs or sex.....
you will not make people stop, you just make it harder or more expensive.
Same here and many other things, a restriction is just making things harder.
People will try to get around it.
Now that I have a solution, and I am aware of the problem, I'll calm down and
go back to my own thing for now.
