How to change DHCP server

Hi,
Current DHCP svr (10.10.232.66), I have installed a new DHCP svr (10.10.232.71)
I don't want to turn off current server and run both in parallel in order to make sure new svr work properly.
So can I force some client to get IP from new svr ?? current svr assign 10.10.232.2-99 / new svr assign 10.10.100-200
If test completed, I will use new svr to replace whole DHCP service on current svr.

Hi,
In general, you can run “ipconfig/release” and “ipconfig/renew” commands to force a DHCP client
to obtain a new IP address. However, since you have two DHCP servers in the same subnet,
clients can be leased at either server. Actual leases distributed to clients can depend on which server responds first to any given client. The clients can obtain
IP addresses all from the new DHCP server only if the current server is unavailable.
Besides, you can choose to reserve some IP addresses in the new DHCP server for permanent lease assignment
to specified clients. Or you can use the 80/20 rule to set the new DHCP server with 80 percent of the addresses distributed and the remaining 20 percent provided by the current DHCP server. In these scenario, the new DHCP server responds to requests from DHCP
clients most of the time and the current DHCP server assigns addresses to clients when the new DHCP server is not available or is out of addresses.

I need to change default version of NFS server version, currently i have NFS_SERVER_VERSMAX=2, for changing NFS version i changed this variable in /etc/default/nfs, but still its using version 2,

Did you change the /etc/default/nfs on the server or on the client?
What is NFS_SERVER_VERSMIN set to? The NFS server is allowed to use any version in the span of NFS_SERVER_VERSMIN and NFS_SERVER_VERSMAX.
NFS_SERVER_VERSMAX=4
The default of NFS_SERVER_VERSMIN is 2.
And, as mentioned, you will have to restart your NFS server for changes to take effect.

Windows is going to require a few more steps if ASE is running as a service.
Update all registry entries containing <servername> with <newservername>:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\SYBASE\Server
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SYBSQL_<servername>[ _BS | _XP ]
NOTE: Doing a registry search on <servername> will bring up a ton of other locations, eg, legacy entries, ControlSet00X, etc ... not sure if all of these have to be changed, too ...
NOTE: Haven't installed any of the latest ASE packages in windows so don't know if SAP's gone an changed the HKLM\SOFTWARE sub-branch name from SYBASE to SAP

- any remote servers would need to update their external/remote logins, remote servers and/or proxy definitions ... as appropriate
- if the ASE is involved in replication then you're looking at whole 'nother can of worms ... off the top of my head ... rs_databases, rs_idnames, rs_repdbs ... and of course any repdefs/subs that include the ASE name ?
- obviously (?) any monitoring/maintenance/operational jobs ... documentation ...

How to change Report Server 10.1.2 from GMT to EST

We have the 10.1.2 Oracle Application Server up and running but the time on the Report Server is GMT. How can the time be changed to EST? Oracle suggested changing a value in a parameter file and a Windows environment variable, neither of which worked. Now, they are saying reinstall the Web Server. Is there any other way? How is this set during the install?

it was better if you created table first.
now create table for your server name and use select into statment.
and after this if any happend you will be able to change the server name easily by
modifying table.

How to replace DHCP server from domainA with DHCP from domainB?

Hello fellow Administrators,
We have one remote site with one subnet. There's domainA domain controller and about 100 domainA's client computers in that subnet. We're about to send 100 domainB's client computers there as well.
There's also domainA's DHCP server running on the same subnet. DHCP scope options include domainA's domain name, gw and domainA's DNS server addresses.
DomainA and DomainB belongs to separate forests and there's two-way trust between them. DomainA DNS has stubzone for DomainB and DomainB has stubzone for domainA. That's how
clients can resolve hostnames of other domain.
All domainA's clients in remote site will be replaced gradually with domainB's client computers, but this can take a long time.
I want to note, that I cannot create second subnet for domainB at the moment.
At some point, we need to deploy DHCP server to domainB's member server in the remote site. What are the steps I should take to replace existing domainA's DHCP server with domainB's DHCP server while still allowing clients from domainA and domainB to successfully
find domain controller of their own domain and being able to resolve hostnames from both domains?

Do you have a hardware router? If so the router handles DHCP serving. If you don't have a router but connect directly to a cable or DSL modem, then you can use Internet Sharing. Select Mac Help from the Finder's Help menu and search for "internet sharing" without quotes. You will find an article that tells you how to set that up on your computer.

How to change the server CLASSPATH

I am using OracleAS 10g (9.0.4.0) and I need to reference a properties file from my application which is stored in a folder outside the OAS installation folders. For that reason I want to add this "external" path to the CLASSPATH that the server uses (I don't want to change my application's CLASSPATH but rather change the CLASSPATH that all applications use). Can someone tell me how can I achieve this? For example in Weblogic I can do this by changing the startup.sh script that starts the server. Is there something similar in OAS? Thank you.

You can create libraries, that allows you at the application or OC4J instance level to specify which jar/classes files will be loaded, take a look to the documentation
I am encouraging you to read the paper "Classloading in OC4J". (note that this paper is valid for 10.1.2 or early and not valid for OC4J 10.1.3 where the class loader mechanism has been updated)

How to change VM Server IP address when VMs are provisioned

Dear all,
I have deployed some Oracle VM servers and provisioned some VMs running upon on them.
However, the user requests to change the management IP address of these VM servers. How can I do it?
In my practice, I need backup all VMs and remove them. Then remove these VM servers from pool. Then change management IP...add them into server pool...restore VMs from backup....

You don't have to remove or backup/restore the VMs. Just migrate them to another server (if shared storage) or to Unassigned VMs (if local storage). The machines should be stopped (not suspended). There is a bug where a suspended machine can migrate to Unassigned VMs but can't migrate back (without manual intervention on the console). If you are changing the pool virtual IP, you have to delete/recreate the server pool. This will lose the "simple names" of the disks and ISOs, so record them before deleting the pool. It will not remove the Repository contents. After recreating the pool, you can rediscover the server, present the repository and refresh its contents.

I have a Server which is connected on the Local Network.
My server consists of 5 VM's.
I would like to make my Host Machine a DC and the all the VM's as the member of this Host DC. (I can do this...No Problem)
What I am worried about is, Later If I need to add my Host Machine Dc as a member of DC
of Local Network Domain Controller.
This means If i need to change the role of my DC to the role member of another DC!
Is it Possible? If possible then how to do it.
