How to change the Data sources after deploying the application ??

Hi All,
i want to know how to change the Data sources after deploying the application to the application server ???
I'm using Oracle Application Server 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.1.0)

Can you access the Enrprise Manager website of the target Application Server from your location? If so, you can change the datasource in it. If not, yo can bundle the datasource definition in your archive and use that one instead of the one configured in the target OC4J container. Or this will just be the responsability of your customer: whenever you send a new WAR file, they have to modify the datasource if needed and deploy the application?

you'd need to change the base wsdl, the generated one (_Name.wsdl) and the bpel.file .. and remove the generated classes .. (all in domains/you_domain/tmp/your_process dir)
the wsdl needs to get the output msg to the input msg instead of a callback porttype, the same needs to be in the generated wsdl (don't forget to remove the callback role in plnk session).. and the bpel process needs to have a reply instead of the invoke ..
this is what you would need to do .. BUT, maybe we can find a better solution for you, if you elaborate on the usecase..
during design time this is easier :-)

Issue with data source after deploying

We are experiencing an issue with our data source after deployment of a cube. On the datasource properties in Visual Studio 2012, we have the max connections set to 0 before the deployment. Once the cube is deployed, I can navigate to the <name>.0.ds.xml
file and open it and see that the <MaxActiveConnections>0</MaxActiveConnections> is indeed set to 0. At some point over the next couple days, a process of the cube or some other action causes that value to get updated to some number too large to
be converted to an int, and makes the datasource invalid. At that point we cannot view the datasource properties in SSMS, we cannot open the cube project from Visual Studio, and we’ve even had failures when trying to process the cube. Is there a config
somewhere that would cause this value to get overwritten, or some other behind the scenes process that we can look at?

Typically you would import the metadata from the source location and either use that location as the data source (and so not need to redeploy), or deploy it to a separate target location.
The replace action is destructive as you've found, and effectively performs a drop table followed by create table. Hence any data in the table is lost.
If you just want the Control Center Manager to correctly display that the table is deployed, try setting the action to "Upgrade". This will try to upgrade the deployed object to match the definition in OWB, but as the two are identical this will result in no changes. However, it will update the deployment records to indicate that the object is deployed.

I have searched in help.sap.com but I didn't find any information on this .

Actaully i am new to fico/bw,and i have to create a report based on the actual and budget value and difference in the variance.
in R/3 side the table they are using is COSP,so please let me know what is the data source name and the cube or ods name in BW side.wht are the fields in which i can get the BUDGET value in the report.
here we are using all the business content extractors and BI content cubes and odss.

Change PowerPivot data source when deploying from Dev - Staging - Production

We have PowerPivot workbooks we store in SharePoint 2013 Libraries.
We have a powershell script which automates the deployment of sites and pages. Is there a way using PowerShell (or any scripting language really) to look into the workbook and change the PowerPivot data source when deployment from one environment to
another? (Dev -> Stage -> Prod) We need to update the workbooks to point to our SSAS cubes Dev -> Stage -> Prod respectively.

Basically, it's an excel file (XLSX) file and you can use excel OM for this.
A simple program (in C# or any language of your choice) can be written to do the following and achieve what you need.

So far my naive experiments to explicitely add data-sources.xml to a
project that is picked up by the deploy to .ear step and put in the
root of the .ear have failed.
Is this one of those gaps like the orion-application.xml file, that has no
solution at present?
Or is the back-door via adding an EJB component to my project, then deleting it??

(100-200 rule files!).When need to cahnge information for data sources, do Ihave to change it always with EAS interactively ?Is there any way to cahnge the information of the data sourcesin batch mode or with command?

iitobs: There are API calls (in at least C and VB that I found) that can use a rule file, and even copy or create one, but none that will modify a rule in any way. Even the "create rule" API call simply reserves the name so that someone else can't create one with that same name until you manage to copy it over from somewhere else - it doesn't create a new rule file, nor does it allow you to set anything in the rule. You have to use EAS to manage rule files internally.

All of the above has succeeded ok; however whilst trying to create new DSN the intsant client is not listing as an available driver. What's missing please?

The package you downloade is not ODBC Instant Client package
Instant Client Concept came into existence from 10.1 onwards only

I have developed certain reports in web analysis 9.3.1, now I need to point these reports to a new cube with same layout. Can anyone let me know how to change this data source. There are lot many reports so it will take lot of time for me to recreate them.

You can edit the Database connection from Web Analysis. Perform the below tasks to edit the database connection..
1) Login to Web Analysis
2) Select the Database Connection which needs to be modified.
3) Right Click then Edit..

Problem with the ECC6 Data sources after migration

Dear All.
I transfer all the data source which is required for sales overview cube 0SD_C03.
lets take two senairos.
for example take 2LIS_11_VAHDR to BI 7 and then i migrate this data source with Export option after that i activate the data source and then i initialize the delta request with data.
the request successfully generated in BI to R/3 but in monitor it shows in yellow for long period of time and no data arrive i wait for 30 min but nothing happen.
in second one i initialize the delta process for data source 2LIS_12_VCHDR this data source i did't migrate but face the same situation.
can you please explain what will be the cause of this and how i can manage to fetch the data from ECC6 client through Business content data source.
i did not migrate the update rules into transformations.
any help will be highly appreciated.

yes that is what exactly happen i did not do any thing as in the previous update rules there are written complex abap routine.
please let me know how to generate the update rules as was there previously or if i have to revert the datasource back to the previous position what i have to do.
i have figure out that why the data is not coming from SAP just need steps that how to revert the data source or make the new transformations with generated update rules or transformation.
any help will be highly appreciated.

I have the following scenario , Am creating a report on one Calculation View: CV and have done some analysis where I have pulled in some dimensions and kept some background filters.
Now I have to generate the same report on another Calculation View: CV2 ( Similar to structure of CV ) and compare the reports. Is there any way to edit copy the previous report and change the data source? Can you guide me on that?

Hi,
You can exchange the calc view by clicking on the button next to the data source name in the tab "components", but when you do this, the new data source will overwrite the settings and filters from the previous data source. So no, there is not a supported way of exchanging the datasource and keeping the filters of the previous data source.

I am using JMX to remotely manage an application instance. I need to remotely shut down the Data Source, and be able to restart it. The forceShutdown on the JDBCDataSourceRuntimeMBean works great. Unfortunately WebLogic decided not to include the start method until 9.2, which by the way is absolutely ridiculous!
Anyway, i need a programmatic way to restart the Data Source. Through the console the only way to restart the Data source is to edit, unselect the target, save and activate the change, then edit, select the target, save and activate the change. How can I use mbeans to accomplish this? The removeTarget method does not seem to work the way I'd expect.

You may want to ask in the weblogic.developer.interest.jdbc newsgroup.
One thing to try is to turn on WLST recording in the console. This will give
you the wlst command equivalents - wlst is a thin layer on top of JMX so you
should be able to figure out the JMX MBeans and methods from that.

Replicating the data source

I have an attribute data source and when I have replicated the data source again from the source system, the type has changed from attribute to hierarchy.
Can you please tell me how can this happen and what needs to be done to revert it back to attribute data source.
