How to check if filetype or MIME type is supported on windows phone 8 or above ?

Hi,
I want to write a simple functionality to know if filetype/MIME type is supported on device.
This function will take filetype (e.g. pdf) and MIME type (e.g. application/pdf) as input parameter and returns true or false according to result.
I searched for sample with this functionality but couldn't get one. If anyone have any idea or sample for this, that will be a great help.

It seems like that there are some misunderstanding here, if a filetype can be opened by an app, it does not mean that the OS supports this type, it should be in application level.
I think you expect that there are some places to store all supported filetype/mime type in OS, but I've not heard that the OS forced an application to register supported filetype/mims type.
So your idea is good, but firstly, as far as I know, there is no such API to retrieve all available file types, secondly, even if there are some ways, they should not get all information you expected.

I am using following ways to get FileType and MIME Type.
I am able to get file type, but I am getting MIME Type as */*
Can any one please let me know how to get MIME Type, but it should not be time consuming process.

50L4300 TV MIME Type Not Supported

My Toshiba 50L4300 TV web browser is having problems with some web pages and shows such error MIME Type Not Supported. Can not open MIME type resource. It has Software 7.2.67.32.01.1 Jul 02 2014. MBOOT Version: 00467596.
Any idea why do I have this error? please find enclosed pictures.

The TV doesn't have support for Flash content. Flash is a third-party plugin available for many web browsers. I'm sorry.

Same custom messagebox code working in Phone_BackKeyPress event i am writing the code in Right Button that e.OriginalSource.ToString(); then it is working fine.

What happens if you leave the implementation for LeftButton empty as well , does the page gets stuck in that case also, if you press left button?

How to restrict uploading files by mime type?

Hi,
I have been searching the forum (and Google) looking for tips on how to ensure users can only upload files of specific formats (Word, PDF, etc) for specific document types as defined within the application (e.g. Curriculum Vitae (Word), Copy of Transcripts (PDF)).
While I have used this research to start work on a server-side solution, I would like to know if there is an apex-friendly way to "validate" a file-browse item based on mime-type.
Has anyone else had to address this?

Basically you are asking as how to port silverlight to Xaml (RT). Go one by one converting each API from silverlight to XAML, like IsolatedStorage isn't there in RT, so look for its alternative etc.

Today we rely on Simulink to perform parameterization of your designs in two ways:
Parameterizable Subsystems and Blocks : Parameters themselves can be MATLAB expressions that need to be evaluated for which we need the MATLAB interpreter
The very useful Rate and Type propagation or Simulink compilation that allows us to specify types & rates in one location that gets systematically propagated to all.
To truly make the HDL Netlist that is generated from SysGen parameterizable, we would have to implement some of this capability in the HDL netlist itself by:
Using Generics(VHDL) or Parameters(Verilog) - We would have to capture the bit width(type) propagation through levels of hierarchies and finally parameterize the IP itself based on this value
Since IP itself does not have this capability through generics, we would have to package a separate tcl script that updates the IP parameterization appropriately in response to top level parameters(or GUI parameters)
Interpreting MATLAB expressions and translating them into VHDL/Verilog expressions (alternatively tcl expressions of IP). In simulink, mask parameters can be passed from one level to the next. Also parameterization of a block can be composed of Matlab expressions using variables from ancestor masks & the MATLAB interpreter – so we will need to somehow capture that as well.

How to add Java Web Start MIME type to Sun Java SYstem Application Server?

In the process of learning about Java Web Start,
I read in the document that I had to add "application/x-java-jnlp-file JNLP " to a configuration file.
Does anyone know where that file is for Sun Application web server( vesion 8, on WIndows)?

I believe you can add it to default-web.xml file located in your server config dir.
(i.e. /opt/SunAppServer8/domains/domain1/config/default-web.xml)

How to check availabe updates for apps in iTunes 11.0 (Windows)?

In older versions of iTunes in my laptop, there is a place to click to check for available updates when I see there are updates in the App Store icon in my iPhone.
Then the Apps updates are downloaded to the laptop and then I can sync the iPhone.
But I just can't find such a button to download Apps updates in the latest 11.0 iTunes.
Please help. Right now, I'm installing the updates via 3G which can be slow.

In ITunes Store there is a Library Button in the upper right hand corner. Left Click on the down arrow on this button and a drop down menu will appear. Click on the Apps Button which will open your Apps page. On the bottom right hand corner is a button labeled check for updates. Left click on the button.

How to retrive the data from a sqlite file(.db3) in windows phone 8.1(runtime)

hey guys
i installed the sqlite and sqlite-net as requested in other answers i found, changed to x86, and add the .db3 file in my project.
but the problem is how to retrive the data that already in the file( i am not creating any table or data in the app, just read)
all the answer i found is to create a table first and then read the table, i tried to skip the step of creating a table, and read from the table directly, but failed with " no such table", by the way, i set the property of the .db3 file as "content",
"copy if newer"
can anyone please help? i appreciate that !

From your description, you want to read data from available sqlite file. When you add the sqlite file into your project, you need to change the sqlite file build action to content. After deploying to device, the sqlite file is located in installation folder,
you need to copy that file into storage folder before reading data. Please try the following code snippets.

How to bind the value of slider from C# code in windows phone 8.1..?

Hi, I want to bind a custom seek bar to the position of media element.
I think from XAML we can achieve it by
Value="{Binding ElementName=mediaElement, Path=Position, Mode=TwoWay, Converter={StaticResource FormatConverter}}"
where FormatConverter is a converter class written to convert mediaElement object to slider value during binding.
But I am creating the media element from code, so I want to write C# code to achieve the above. How to do it..?

You can create the same binding in C# by instantiating a
Binding class and setting its Path, Source, etc. properties. See the remarks in the Binding class docs and

Data binding with XAML docs.
That said, the Position updates significantly more frequently than you want to update the seek bar, so you may want to use polling rather than binding for this specific use (especially since you're already in the code behind rather than in the Xaml).
