How to check R3 system connected to BI system

Hi to all,
I am installing BI contents , But before installing the Contents , in need to check which source system (R3) is connected to BI.
Please can any body tell me .
How to check it.

Hi Rana,
In RSA1 screen select source system option in the modelling area.
Right click on the source system(for ex: D10client100) --> select "Check" from the context menu.
It will display message if there is any thing wrong.
second method
If you have authorizations you can goto SM59 Tcode: drill down the ABAP connections ->check for your source system
double click on it
it will take you to "RFC destination screen" here you need to click on connection test.
IT will display the test results.

Use snoop.
snoop -d <nic> - will give requests and replies coming/going in/out of the specified NIC.
snoop -d <nic> <MAC address of the target host> - will give requests coming from the required host.

Can a R3 system connect two XI system?

Hi,gurus:
Can a R3 system connect two XI system?In SM59 we have to point the rfc to a single xi.Is it right?

If my scenario is about idoc,we can define two RFC in SM59,
and two partners in WE21 and two ports in WE20,right?
Correct..
If my scenario is about abap proxy,then we can define two RFC in SM59,
and two parameters in sxmb_adm in the R3 side,right?Then in the tcode:SPROXY,
we can see both interfaces in two XI systems,right?
this is not posssible...

If the connection succeeds, it's powered on.
If the connection fails, you cannot know whether it's powered on or not. It may be on, but the server isn't running. It may be on with server running but the network path to that host may have a problem. It may be on, server running, good network path, etc., but the server may be very busy and the connection attempt may timeout. etc.

Hi Manjula,
If you encounter problems when establishing a connection to your target server, check the following:
A message box appears while performing one of the following actions:
      Setting connection by choosing Apply to local session.
      Testing connection settings by choosing Test settings.
      Creating SAP TSQL objects
If errors occurred, they are displayed in the respective message box.
   Check developer trace files in ST11.
Test connection:
     For RFC related errors, check the RFC connection via SM59
     For database multi-connect errors, check if you can connect to the target SQL Server with the SQL Server Query Analyzer. Also check if the DBCON entries are correct.

So how can i check tht internet connection is avaliable or not. ?

i am also fatching this type of problem. my applet is playing a audio file from server. during the playing time if network connection failed then NoRouteToHostException occurs from some PCs. but there are some PCs it doesn't occur though the playing is stoped.
all PCs OS windows XP and jre jdk1.5.0_06
i can't find out the problem. can any one help me for this?

In Addition with the above mentioned transaction code(WE02), u can check out idocs in these table - EDIDC, EDID4, EDIDS. Depending on different status you can differentiate them as Inbound or Outbound Idocs...

Call the function module ENQUEUE_EMMARAE with the required material number. If sy-subrc is not 0, after the function module has executed completely then the material is locked by a different user.

Problem restoring source system connection post BW system copy

Hi.
I am having problems restoring the R/3 connection in our BW system.
This is the scenario.
We need to move our BW production system onto a new system, but keep both BW connected to R/3 production for testing etc until cutover to our new BW system.
Basis performed a system copy and restore of BW production to the new system and ran BDLS.
When I try to restore the R/3 connection via RSA1 I am getting the following error at the end-
"A connection already exists there ......." and the message refers to our current/live BW system. The options are to delete the existing or not delete. I have only chosen "do not delete" and therefore the connection is not restored. My concern is that if I choose "delete" this will damage my existing connection between R/3 and the currently live BW system which is we cannot afford to do.
In our newly copied BW system we are using the existing R/3 SM59 (from system copy), and in R/3 we have created a new SM59 for our new BW system.
It seems from the error message information that is complains that BW sent R/3 some sort of ID (value = "WS") and that is already taken by the existing BW system. I tried to find where and what this WS value is referring to and the only thing I have found is that in table RSBASISIDOC "WS" is the suffix for transfer structure for that R/3 system. ??? Not sure if this is related for what.

Please check with basis or if you can ,then try to restore the source system in BI/BW.This should correct the inconsistencies between the two systems which is being caused by different Idoc types
Also check the table RSBASIDOC in the BI system and compare this to R/3 system ,the "basic type" field should be same.
A restore should work,it has always worked for me.

How to check the database connection using OCI

I am working on enhhancement of very old application developed using C and OCI. It has a background process which acts as a middleware for interaction of any other front end process with oracle database. Any processes, which needs to interact with database sends a request to background peocess and then it will execute a call to execute the stored procedures for performing requested operation (like select, update, insert) on table and will send the result back to respective process. So this process has to be always running in background and connected to branch database.
If branch database gets restarted or connection gets dropped due to some ad-hoc problem then the background process also has to be restarted manually. Because this process establishes the connection to branch database only once on start up and it does not have the intelligence to reconnect automatically in such scenario.
I am looking forward to build the intelligence in this process to automatically reconnect if connection with branch database is lost. But I am not familer with OCI, and I am not sure if there is any OCI call which can determine if my earlier connection is still available. Can any one please tell me if there is any other way to check the connection other than the execution of dummy query, then check if it gets executed properly and then do the actual query.

If you are reworking the application can you not build in the functionality to re-establish a connection if there is a failure? That is, a submission from the application server to the database server detects a failure, etc. and then re-establishes the connection. If you need a more frequent check than during a user-initiated roundtrip, you may be best served by using the "dummy query" technique on some time interval.
From my understanding using HA Event Notification would require a RAC database (plus a multi-threaded application and services correctly configured on the RAC-side).
In the documentation I see this:

"Applications must connect to a RAC instance to enable HA event notification."
In any case, this has the potential to be a bit complicated...

St03n --> left side pane select as Expert Mode --> Select the date --> click on the users and statistics --> user profile
you can c who are all users have logged in for that day. Select a user and double click and then you can get what are all the transactions he has ran on that particular day.

How to check in VB code that PXI-system is on and all cards are working.

My system: Chassis 1010 with MXI8330, 4 x SCXI1129, 2 x PXI2565, 2 x PXI6508 and PXI4021.
Problem: I'm trying to write section of code with Visual Basic which initializes PXI cards and gives information about system(Is it on? What kind of PXI or SCXI cards do I have in my chassis? Are they working?) but I don't know what functions I should call.

Our PXI chassis are not "smart chassis" that have status registers that can give you information like whether or not the chassis is on, but you should be able to pull some information from the cards themselves. This will vary from card to card, and from driver to driver. I would recommend starting with the programmer's reference manuals for the drivers (NI-DAQ, NI-VISA, etc.) and the user manuals for the cards. If the cards do respond, you can infer then that the chassis is on.

Hi to all, im new to java and im having atrying to print a file, ive been looking how to retrieve the printer status before i send the printjob to the printer and i couldnt find an answer. Is there any way to retrieve the printer status? I mean, if its On/Off, Out of paper, etc before i send my printjob... Ive been looking to the printerState class but i dont know how it is supposed to be used, and i dont know if it is a possible solution.

I am running the script table_partition which consist of 366 partition and 31 sub partition but the script is hanging.there is no hint in alert log file or anything wat might be the reason is it because of extent size? as extent size for this tablespace where table has to be create is 1mb,wat i suspect is do i need to set for higher value inorder to avoid this?

External reservation system In the Travel Planning subcomponent Travel Management accesses an external reservation system connected to R/3 to carry out the queries on available travel services and to book the selected services. The reservation system currently available is the AMADEUS Global Travel Distribution system.
