How to COMMIT all open transactions?

Hi,
I have 10.2.0.4 on Windows.
I need to run a critical month-end DataPump export of 1 schema. Easy enough. The system will be in-use by the end users when this runs. Not many maybe 10 users will be connected and it is not a very large db - 10 GB.
My concern is that there may be a few uncommitted transactions hanging around that may not be written to the dump file. If I run COMMIT; that only commits for my session, right? How can I force all open transactions for all users to be committed just before I run the DP export?
-OR- is DataPump so sophisticated that it will auto. commit them first?
Thanks for your ideas. John

Thanks, Justin.
This is a 24 hour system so I don't want to interrupt the users unless there is no other option.
Yes the RMAN backups are complete but I just need the export for purposes of refreshing my reporting database at each month-end. So I will use impdp to do the import. This is the way we have been doing it for awhile.
We only recently became aware of some out-of-balance issues (money) and we thought uncommitted transactions may be partly responsible.
I know the application code controls when the commit takes place but, in general, is this something you would be concerned with?
Another question if I may: how can I see how many open transactions there are at a given time?
Thanks, JohnIf you think about what constitutes a "transaction" (and financial balances are the textbook example of such) then you realize that it is absolutely the responsibility of the transaction to decide when to commit. An outside process (like an evil DBA) can safely force a rollback of an incomplete transaction (say, by killing the session), but to force a COMMIT? Suppose the session had only updated 2 of 4 tables that needed to be updated to consitute a complete transaction and guarantee your account balances? How do you suppose your "force" will know what the other two table updates are?
Maybe you could explain in more detail how you intend to use this export, particularly in relation to where it was you found the out of balance issues..

    Reddy,
No, you need to call Transaction.abort() on each transaction individually.

  • How to clear all open GRIRs in the year end and maintained as provision  ?

    Hi Friends,
I would like to clear all open GRIRs in the year end and maintained as provision.
in the next year next day i would like to show as open items.
    How can do it ?
I have tried to clear it. I have maintained OBYP settings also. But i am unable see as clear item.
Could you explain me how it actuallly works ?

    Hi REddy,
In most of the cases, the GR/IR account will have a credit balance and would be taken as provision for liability during year end activites. So as a standard practise you need to clear them on year end.
but if you want to clear them, first you need to deselect check box Post automatically only for GR/IR clearing GL's master data.
Then pass a adjustment entry like
    GR/IR GL Dr
To Provision for Liabilites GL: Cr
Above sample entry is true when your GR/IR account has a CR balance at the year end. if not post it in a reversed manner.
Now with tcode F-03, for GR/IR GL, choose all items and clear them. Now you will get the clearing doc number.
Now on start of new FY, reverse the above accounting entry with FB08.
    This will meet your requirement.
    Thanks,

  • Cmp 2.0 how to rollback all related transactions

    Hi,
As to rollback in cmp 2.0, I'm wondering:
    1. how to make a rollback (is call rollbackOnly the only way)?
    2. how to define within same transactions when an exception caught, rollback all other trans?
    3. modify in descriptor or in code, how? what's diff

    John

    Hi,
As to rollback in cmp 2.0, I'm wondering:
    1. how to make a rollback (is call rollbackOnly the
only way)?Yes. Entity beans can only have Container-managed transactions,
so the only way to tell the container to mark the tx as rollback only
    is to call EntityContext.setRollbackOnly().
    >
    2. how to define within same transactions when an
exception caught, rollback all other trans? There is no such behavior in EJB or J2EE. There is
    no special relationship/association like this
between J2EE transactions. E.g., there are no
nested transactions in J2EE. All transactions are
independent and peers of one another.

  • How to quit all open applications/windows?

I have had Leopard since Halloween. How can I quit/close all open windows/applications in one fell swoop rather than go through the Dock and quit/close each one separately?
    ~Lorna

An easier way might be to do an Option , Command, Escape ... and force quit all the apps.
At least you would know for sure what is open .... rather than relying on the semi invisible dock indicator ...
Probably faster too ... unless there is some issue about force quitting that I'm not aware of ...
You would want to quit all open apps on any software update, installation .. or when you're running something like Cocktail and cleaning your caches ....

    Direct answer: you can't.
Here is what the User Guide says:
To close an application or a screen, in Card view (see Manage
applications in Card view), throw the card off the top of the screen. If
cards are in a stack (see Work with stacked cards), you can only throw
    one card at a time.
You close the apps by throwing the card away, plain and simple.
@direstrates:  Are you asking how to kill all running apps with one command?  Only way I know how is by doing the two-finger reboot.

  • How to find all Open POs and PO status

    Hi,
    1. If I open any PO (we are on ECC6.0), on the PO header status Tab, we can see the status as "Fully Invoiced or Partially Invoiced or Not Invoiced" and similarly for delivery too. Is there any table to see get these statuses directly for any given PO?If no, How do I determine the status manually in the report ?
    2. If you get into a PO, follow the menu path Environment-->AC Commitments docs. Choose Funds Management from the Pop-up. This shall generate a report for the document Jounal entries and display the final amounts (final bdgt) there. Is there any table where I can get this amounts for a given PO?
I want to generate a report for all the Open POs based on the different statuses from point 1 and also where its AC Commitments-FM docs amount is not equal to 0.
I checked with my MM consultant for this and he couldnt be of help.

Yes - it is tedious, but that is what we are paid for. You have to look at each line in the PO history table (EKBE), add up the invoices, subtract the returns. There are also some flags mentioned by other posters to determine whether the PO (or PO item) is complete.

  • How to access all open documents' ReadImageDocumentDesc?

    Hi everyone,
I want to get access to the ReadImageDocumentDesc for all currently opened documents from an Export plugin, so I can give users the choice which of the documents to export. Is this possible?
I expected to have access to all documents via the "next" field of "ReadImageDocumentDesc *documentInfo" in form of a linked list, but that field appears ti be always NULL. Or isn't it for certain types of plugins?
If it isn't possible, are there other tricks I could use to accomplish my goal? Is a stack renderer plugin an option perhaps?
Any kind of help is highly appreciated.

I have the same question. When I write a filter plugin in, I try to access two open pictures to deal with both of them. But I can't find how to utilize the ReadImageDocumentDesc * next to finish it. Is it possible?

  • How to save all open files IE like a shortcut or alias to them.

    Hi everyone,
I know there must be a way to do this in Dreamweaver, but I
    can't find it.
When I am working on a series of pages (for example, 3 or 4
pages with a bunch of include pages) and I want to save a shortcut

open them all at once later).
This will save a TON of time, instead of me writing down
every single page name, and then, opening them all by hand later.
I know you can use the Site Navigation, to see the files, but
