How to configure service endpoints of custom webservice in SharePoint 2013?

Hi,
I have created a custom webservice in SharePoint 2013. I placed it in a sub folder under the ISAPI folder. I followed the instructions of this article: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/ff521581(v=office.14).aspx. The webservice works
great, however when I try to send a large file I get the message "413 Request entity is too large".
After some searching I found out that you can create a web.config in the subfolder and define the endpoints and bindings, after which I get an error that there is already an endpoint defined for the specified URI. I believe this has something to do with
the BasicHttpBindingServiceMetadataExchangeEndpointAttribute but I'm not sure.
Can anyone help me solve this issue?

Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to configure service endpoints of custom webservice in SharePoint 2013.
Per my knowleadge, after you add a reference to Microsoft.SharePoint.Client.ServerRuntime, you can use the BasicHttpBindingServiceMetadataExchangeEndpointAttribute.
In VS go to the add reference and paste the following: C:\Windows\assembly\GAC_MSIL\Microsoft.SharePoint.Client.ServerRuntime.
In addition, please make sure you create the custom web service correctly.

How to link Discussion Board with Custom list in sharepoint 2013

I have a custom list, which have collection of goals. and i have an discussion board for discussions about those goals from that custom
list... so how can i link between those two. what my expectation is, if I select a "goal" from custom list, then the collection of discussions that related to goals will displays on other side... and i have added a lookup column in discussion
board that refer the goal name in the custom list so i am relating goal name between these two.

According to your description, my understanding is that you want to click the ‘discuss’ column in the custom list to navigate to the associated discusstion. Is it right?
You can do as the followings:
Open your custom list
Create a new column, the type is Hyperlink or Picture, select Format URL as: Hyperlink
Navigation to a discussion, copy the URL of the discussion
Back to the custom list, and new an item
Type the title, and paste the URL copied in step 3 under ‘Type the web address:’, type a name for the description of the url
Click Save
In my testing, the result is :
If I click ‘first discussion’, it will open the ‘first’ discussion.

this link you should be able to access this option from the Items tab. for this to work, the Analytics Processing Component needs to be running.

According to your description, my understanding is that you want to upgrade the service providers of MOSS 2007 to SharePoint 2013 service application.
Per my knowledge, you need to firstly upgrade the service providers of moss 2007 to SharePoint 2010 via database content, then upgrade SharePoint 2010 service applications to SharePoint 2013.

Reading values from lookup columns through custom workflow in SharePoint 2013

We are able to read the values of text, number columns through custom workflow (via coding) in SharePoint 2013. However, we are not able to read values from lookup columns. So, request anyone to provide help on this.

Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to read values from lookup columns through custom workflow in SharePoint 2013.
Since the workflow just doesn't get lookup fields, let's give it something static to work with instead. If we can capture the ID of the lookup field and store that as a static value in our list, the workflow can happily use that to look up our related.

Anonymous Client - How Does the Service Endpoint Know Which Operation

I am using a client (Axis2) to invoke a service through their Anonymous capabilities. When this is done, you create a ServiceClient with the default constructor and call one of its methods based on the MEP that I want to perform. In doing this, the ServiceClient is not aware of the WSDL, the SOAP Action, the Service Name, the Port Name...only the Endpoint URI of where I want the post to be sent.
So I have a Service Endpoint running in WebLogic 10 and constructed using EJB3. We are using JWS to generate the WSDL and other web service configuration files from our SLSB. My WSDL has two operations with different request messages and different response messages. When I send the Anonymous client request, the Service Endpoint correctly processes the request and send the correct response.
How is this happening? Does the EJB3 Service Endpoint know how to process or bind the message based on the root element of the SOAP Body? And is it just working by circumstance. So if I had two operations with the same request message and different responses, would it fail?

Unfortunately you have to make some changes in your code.. to find the pictures you need to replace:
ImageIcon pic = new ImageIcon("pic.gif");
with
URL url = MyClass.class.getResource("pic.gif");
ImageIcon pic = new ImageIcon(url);
where MyClass is the class which needs to load the resource.

However, when I edit the "Setup Service Level Reporting" by click the link under "Solution Monitoring->Service Level Reporting" under "Operations Setup", I could get the screen where in I found the below details:
1. Setup SL Reporting (On the left Pane)
2. Variants Administration (under the above head tree)
On the right pane, I could find:
1. Name
2. Type
3. Weeday of Processing
4. Active
5. Date of Next Report
I could successfully give the above details and saved it. However, I dont see any provision for seleting the system SIDs as mentioned in the help.sap.com site proposed by you.
May you help me in selecting the System SID for which I need to declare SLR?

WCF Data Service from Entity Framework 5 in SharePoint 2013

I am working on a proof of concept. I want to create a WCF Data Service within sharepoint 2013. not only do i want to do that, i want to use the Entity Framework 5 to expose the data via OData. Now, I have crawled the internet and seen various examples of
how to create wcf data services and wcf services in sharepoint 2010/2013. and have tried to apply those as needed to create this POC. So.. what I have done so far.

One thing I found was that it's never worth the trouble to place the WCF service in a web site running SharePoint, it's better to place it in a dedicated web site, as described in this article:

It's usually too much work to get the web.config settings right because of the settings it inherits from its parents.

I'll say that it is one solution to move the WCF Service outside of sharepoint. but my "1000 mile" requirements makes this a necessity.
To broaden the scope of what I am doing, I have a custom SharePoint Service Application. this custom application has a proxy that used a restful interface. Now, with all the methods i will have to write (over 100, x3 for all of the "proxy to a proxy" scenarios)
I wanted to explore the idea of using odata. so i can use the various clients to write their own queries instead of me writing them all and exposing them. especially since its all linq queries to a database underneath. I feel that I am missing some specific
component to make this work, and its surely due to my incomplete knowledge of WCF or EF.

1, try to open the URL in the Browser directly, then to see what happen. Maybe you can do the next action plan based on the error message in the Browser.

3,If the above two didn't helpful. tried to reboot the server or the steps below.
Update the web.config in the service host IIS web site and add the following. Set minFreeMemoryPercentageToActivateService to a lower percentage.

Excel Services Refresh method not working in Sharepoint 2013

Hi,
In our application, we open excel services workbook in sharepoint 2013. Using sessionid of the workbook, we called Refresh and CalculateWorkbook methods in that order. After Calculateworkbook method, I see time stamps in LastUpdatedTime for each connection
in 'Connections' tab of excel workbook. When Refresh method is called again after CalculateWorkbook method, the LastUpdatedTime for the connections becomes blank.
When I use sharepoint 2010, the temstamp is not becoming blank after refresh.
I think due to this reason we see blank data on our reports. Can somebody tell whether there is a problem with Refresh method in sharepoint 2013? Or is there somebody facing problem with excel services in sharepoint 2013? Any pointers can help.

For your issue, verify if Excel files are rendered by Office Web Apps:
When Office Web Apps is responsible for the rendering the URL will look something like this:
https://server/_layouts/15/WopiFrame.aspx?sourcedoc=/Documents/excel.xlsx&….
And when Excel Calc is rendering the document it should look like the following:
https://server/_layouts/15/xlviewer.aspx?id=/Documents/excel.xlsx&…

Possible to fill a list using a custom Workflow in Sharepoint 2013

Is it possible to develop a custom workflow that compares a Contact List and the Active Directory and add any missing people to the list? Or is this a functionality not available with workflows and sharepoint 2013?

Instead of workflow you can do this,
Have user profile service application set up ,which will run on daily basis by default(you can configure to run Hourly/Minutely also) to import all users along with user attributes(email, department ..etc) to SharePoint. Configuring UPS :

Create an item added event receiver on your "Contacts" list ,build business logic to fetch the corresponding user details from the above synced user profile properties. Retrieving User profile properties :

Find and item Search not working inside custom list in sharepoint 2013

HI,
In Sharepoint 2013 , i configured the Search. it is working in home page search Box and Find item search box inside custom list as well But one particualr custom list Find an item is not working. Any clue ?Thanks in Advance

Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is “find an item” search box in a custom list not work in your environment.
As search box and “find an item” search box in your home page are working, so the search service application is working.
Do you have any customzation to the particular custom list ?
If No, I suggest you can full crawl the data in Central Administration ->Manage Service Application->” Search Service Application”-> Manage Content Sources” to test if it works.
Also, please check if you have set "Allow items from this list to appear in search results" in list settings->Advanced Setting to true
