How to configure timeouts in wls 9.2?

Hello,
i have two problems i cannot resolve by myself or simply browsing through the net and I hope you can help me.
Both the questions are about web applications on WeblogicServer 9.2
1)
I have a web application with a web service client inside. I use axis 2 and Http Client for the transport.
I need to configure the connection timeout (not the socket timeout) but i cannot find any method to do this.
The SSLSocketFactory does not expose a method to create the socket with a connection timeout as input parameter. The only way I figured out is to use the method without input parameters to obtain an unconnected socket, configure it as i wish and establish the connection:
Socket socket = socketfactory.createSocket();
SocketAddress localaddr = new InetSocketAddress(localAddress, localPort);
SocketAddress remoteaddr = new InetSocketAddress(host, port);
socket.bind(localaddr);
socket.connect(remoteaddr, timeout);
Unfortunately the methos createSocket() is not implemented by any socketFactory implementation i have available.
What can I do?
2)
I have a web application with an EJB client inside. I need to configure a sort of timeout to break the connection if the server is taking too long.
I have no control on the server side, so I can't use the <remote-client-timeout> to get the point.
Is there any way to configure connection and socket timeout for the RMI call of an EJB client?
Alternatively I have wrapped the client call in a separate thread, launched by a Timeout Controller.
The controller waits for some time, then, if the Task is still alive , send it an interrupt and continue. The trick seems work fine, but the thread executing the task remains waiting for the EJB response and i risk to saturate the application server.
Which is the best way to overcome the problem?
Thank you.

For the first question, have you tried using this:
options.setProperty(HTTPConstants.CONNECTION_TIMEOUT, new Integer(timeOutInMilliSeconds));
It seems to be explained well over here:
http://ws.apache.org/axis2/1_3/http-transport.html#timeout_config
This uses the axis2 http transport and not the jakarta commons httpclient.
I have used some other properties of the axis2 http transport- but have not specifically used the connection_timeout property before.
Is there a reason why you would use the httpclient over the axis2 http transport for a web service client?

  • How to configure MQ with WLS (JMS MQ vs Native MQ)

    Hi All,
    SOA Suite = 11.1.3.3
    MQ Series = 6.0
    Jdeveloper = 11.1.3.3
    I want to read/write data to an MQ which is setup on a physical box different from Weblogic Server box. But both systems fall under the same network. I did some research on the forums to know the steps to configure MQ but ultimately got confused with the following questions in mind.
    1. What is the difference between JMS MQ and Native MQ? How to determine which one to use?
    2. If native MQ can be used here, what are the steps to configure Native MQ on WLS in my situation?
    3. Do I need any foreign servers or message bridges to be configured?
    Please provide any directions or pointers.
    Regards,
    Neeraj Sehga

    1. What is the difference between JMS MQ and Native MQ? How to determine which one to use?Native MQ refers to a proprietary api provided by IBM in multiple languages including java so that applications running on these can communicate mq. IBM also provides JMS wrappers around this native api, so that a jms client can talk to mq using JMS API. This is called MQ JMS.
    2. If native MQ can be used here, what are the steps to configure Native MQ on WLS in my situation?SOA suite provides a MQ Resource Adaptor which can be used to connect to MQ. The developers of this resource adapter would have used the native api to enable the adaptor to talk to MQ, so that you dont have to worry about it. However you will need to configure the properties of your local MQ ( qmgr , q name etc). This is done in the outbound connection pool properties of the resource adaptor.
    please check this blog for how to do this : http://soa-bpel-esb.blogspot.com/2009/09/configuring-mq-in-11g-soa-suite.html.
    Since your MQ installation is in a remote machine you will have to configure the following properties specific to your environment - hostname, port, server connection channel, along with the queue manager name and queue name
    3. Do I need any foreign servers or message bridges to be configured?Not required for your case if you are using MQ Adaptor. Since MQ also provides a JMS transport , you would have required foreign servers if you have to use JMS Adaptor instead of MQ Adaptor. Native MQ is expected to be faster than MQ JMS as it doesn't have the extra JMS layer.

    I have ASA 5505 8.4.  How to configure the switch to the backup channel to the primary with a delay (for example 5 min.) using the SLA monitor?

    thank you for your answer :-)
    I have deleted all such attempts not working, so a packet-trace will be not very useful conent...

  • How to configure ADF application to use OAM Identity Assertion ? web.xml

    We have a web application developed using ADF (application development framework) and deployed on WebCenter 11.1.1.2 (weblogic 10.3.2)
    OID Authentication and OAM identity assertion is configured in WebLogic 10.3.2 .
    How to configure security in ADF application (web.xml or weblogic.xml) so that it uses OAM identity assertion (already configured as authentication providers in weblogic server)
    Any pointers or documentation so that application (developed using ADF) check for identity tocken and verifies it with one of identity assertion providers.

    John,
    I have to concur. With OAM you don't need this. OAM intercepts the calls and inserts a cookie for WLS to get user information from.
    I strongly advise to go through the above mention OFM Security Guide. Esp. Chapter 10 tells you in every detail how to implement OAM SSO with WLS (with or without OHS as a proxy).
    Reading this chapter saves you time and turnarounds on this topic...

  • How to configure virtual hosts and separate tiers

    The configuration we require with WLS must:
    1) provide virtual hosts that can operate under their own SSL environments (some one way, some two way, with different certs)
    2) perform all XML parsing of received message objects in the web layer in order to (a) offload CPU from ejb layer to web layer and (b) prevent any malformed message from penetrating to the ejb layer - reject in the web layer
    3) the web tier must be physically separate from the ejb tier - an integrated WLS server is not acceptable for security reasons
    4) the ejb layer must be clusterable
    5) DNS round robin is sufficient protection for web layer failover
    I do not see clearly how to accomplish this configuration using the WLS suite. Would appreciate guidance on this prior to plunking down big dollars for licenses.
    Thanks

  • How to configure Firefox to use OpenVPN?

    summary: I'm running OpenVPN from a Debian client through a Debian jumpbox/server. After I [start the server, start the client] most IP-based applications (DNS, ping, ssh) seem to work from the client, but client's Firefox cannot connect to http://www.whatismyip.com/ (or any other URI). How to configure Firefox to use the VPN? or otherwise fix the problem? or further debug it?
    details:
    I have a laptop running debian_version==jessie/sid with Firefox version=33.0 which needs to access a compute cluster. The cluster formerly required only an SSL VPN (enabled by a Firefox plugin) to access, but now has several additional requirements, which I seek to satisfy by running the SSL VPN through a jumpbox running an OpenVPN server. The jumpbox is running a "vanilla" Debian 7.7.
    I have been using the laptop successfully for a few years without network problems. Currently I have the laptop connected by wire directly to an ISP-supplied modem/router. With `openvpn` NOT running on the laptop, I see:
    * `ifconfig` shows no entry='tun0' (just "the usual" entries for 'eth0', 'lo', 'wlan0'), and shows the expected client IP# bound to 'eth0'.
    * I can `ping` my jumpbox/server using its real IP#, but cannot `ping 10.8.0.1`
    * I can `ssh` to my jumpbox/server using its real IP#, but cannot `ssh 10.8.0.1`
    * `nslookup www.whatismyip.com` gives correct results
    * browsing to http://www.whatismyip.com/ shows my client's IP# (as also shown in `ifconfig`)
    Both my client/laptop and server/jumpbox setups are quite generic OpenVPN-wise, and are almost exactly as described on the Debian wiki

    I then see the following on my client:
    * `ifconfig` shows a new entry=`tun0`, which looks correct
    * I can `ping` the server using either its real IP# or `10.8.0.1`
    * I can `ssh` to the server using either its real IP# or `10.8.0.1`
    * `nslookup www.whatismyip.com` gives correct results
    ... but I get no connection if I open a new instance of Firefox and browse to http://www.whatismyip.com/ :-( "Looking up www.whatismyip.com..." succeeds quickly but the status line continues to display "Connecting to www.whatismyip.com..." until the attempt times out. I also get the same behavior (connection timeout) if I open a new instance of Chrome, or if I browse to http://www.whatismyip.com/ with a Firefox opened prior to starting OpenVPN. FWIW I get the same behavior browsing to any URI, including (e.g.) Google.
    This is a major problem for me! For the SSL VPN to work, I need to start a Firefox and run it (since the SSL VPN's vendor only supports it on Linux via a Firefox plugin) to access a particular remote-access website. Furthermore I need the SSL VPN to run through the jumpbox/OpenVPN. (Don't ask, it's a long, sad story ...)
    Is there something I must do to configure Firefox to use the VPN? Or is there some other way to fix this?
    Alternatively, what should I do to further debug the problem? It just seems odd to me that the other services work (e.g., `nslookup`, `ssh`) but Firefox does not. That being said, both Firefox and Chrome fail in this usecase, so the problem might be generic to web browsers.
    your assistance is appreciated, Tom Roche <[email protected]>

    You're kidding. You have to go through that rigamarole just to put your bookmarks on your own server? Where's the simple FTP option?
    Also, the above-linked article has a broken link. The link to the weaveserver (which is what you have to set up on your own server) is no good, and there is no obvious replacement. There are plenty of Weave-related repositories here:
    http://hg.mozilla.org/labs
    but it's not clear what you need.

  • How to configure a JMS Queue

    Hi,
    I have an EAR file thai includes an EJB 3.0 module with a MDB. I use a Queue.
    This is my code,
    @Resource(mappedName = "jms/NotificationQueue")
    private Queue notificationQueue;
    @Resource(mappedName = "jms/NotificationQueueFactory")
    private ConnectionFactory notificationQueueFactory;
    public Customer update(Customer customer){
    Customer updated = em.merge(customer);
    try {
    sendJMSMessageToNotificationQueue(updated);
    } catch (JMSException ex) {
    Logger.getLogger(CustomerSessionBean.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex);
    System.out.println("Customer updated in CustomerSessionBean!");
    return updated;
    private Message createJMSMessageForjmsNotificationQueue(Session session, Object messageData) throws JMSException
    //Modified to use ObjectMessage instead
    ObjectMessage tm = session.createObjectMessage();
    tm.setObject((Serializable) messageData);
    return tm;
    private void sendJMSMessageToNotificationQueue(Object messageData) throws JMSException
    Connection connection = null;
    Session session = null;
    try
    connection = notificationQueueFactory.createConnection();
    session = connection.createSession(false, Session.AUTO_ACKNOWLEDGE);
    MessageProducer messageProducer = session.createProducer(notificationQueue);
    messageProducer.send(createJMSMessageForjmsNotificationQueue(session, messageData));
    finally

    And the MDB looks as follow,
    @MessageDriven(mappedName = "jms/NotificationQueue", activationConfig = {
    @ActivationConfigProperty(propertyName = "acknowledgeMode", propertyValue = "Auto-acknowledge"),
    @ActivationConfigProperty(propertyName = "destinationType", propertyValue = "javax.jms.Queue")

    Operation failed with error: No destination location set for message-driven bean NotificationBean
    How must I do to let the EAR file be deployed?

    I want to configure a error queue for weblogic jms topic. Wanted: The message goes to error destination when messages have expired or reached their redelivery limit.
    1. using jms transport configure proxy service:
    Retry Count :3
    Retry Interval:10
    Error Destination: ErrorTopic
    Expiration olicy: RedirectUnlike File/SFTP, JMS proxy service definition does not have the concept of Error Destination. To accomplish similar functionality go to JMSQ on (for which proxy is configured) server console (http://localhost:7001/console) and configure the Error Destination. Following URL will help in how to configure JMS Q.

    I tried use the proxy service to consume message from the jms topic . and generation an error in the proxy message flow. But the message didn't goes into the error topic.If every thing is configured as per above step, then the after retries, the weblogic server will put the message into JMS topic configured. Your proxy will receive from this topic.

  • How to configure apache for ssl in windows platform

    hi all,
    can anyone help me expalin how to configure apache for ssl in windows platform.

    George,
    I would take the following 'first steps'
    1)Install Apache20 on your Windows machine following the Apache online documentation
    http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/misc/tutorials.html
    2)Make sure you can 'serve up' static HTML content from your Apache Server
    3)Install Weblogic Server per our online documentation
    http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs61/install/index.html
    4)Also, make sure you can 'serve up' both static and dynamic (e.g., JSP) content
    directly from WLS server
    5)Once you have both of the above 'sanity' checks attempt to configure a simple
    proxy by ppath or mime type via our online documentation

    Hi Jay SenSharma,
    Thanks for your immediate response.
    I saw your URL links, But in your link give the recursive deployment using wlst. But my question is how to configure the oracle weblogic library files into Admin server & Managed Servers by using the wls.jar file through wlst script to create the new domain.
    But if create the new domain by using GUI mode then we manually give the admin server port number & managed servers port number and name.
    By default the library files are configured with the Admin server in GUI mode. But the Managed server the Library files are not configured with the Managed servers. Then we manually select all the library files to the corresponding managed servers. Then only the applications are deployed into the corresponding managed server.

  • How to configure internet domain name for P6 website using weblogic

    After installing and configuring weblogic for P6 you get the following address https://servername:7002/console/login/LoginForm.jsp to access P6 website.  Anyone know how to configure a purchase domain such as www.mydomain.com have it redirect to https://servername:7002/console/login/LoginForm.jsp Is this configured in weblogic server? If not, what is needed to redirect the purchased domain?

    HI
    You could have that domain resolving to/by some DNS servers and set up a load balancer / proxy to redirect every incoming request to that domain / site to your weblogic console.
    however , what is it you are trying to do? It is very unsual of redirecting/ using Domain names to redirect to wls consoles.
    could you explain your use case in detail please

  • How to Configure the Weblogic Server 6.0 Beta version with Solaris 8

    Hello,
    I have problem in starting the weblogic server 6.0 beta version.
    It is occupying hell of space and running very slow. When I try
    to deploy the bean it is throwing exception like timeout.
    Plese do suggest me what to do. and how to configure properly.
    Thank you,

    That typically happens when you have your database connections configured
    incorrectly. WebLogic is timing out on accessing the database.

  • How to configure DNS on RED HAT 5,4

    Hello Linux experts
    I'm need to configure dns service for Oracle RAC 11gR2
    For dns server, I'm using the hosts for RAC.
    How to configure DNS on RED HAT 5.4 ?
    Anyone have a manual for do this ?
    Best Regardss

    Regardless of whether your will find tools or perl scripts like h2n, or manage your configuration files directly, you will need to get yourself familiar with basic DNS concepts and terms. A DNS cluster is a number of nameservers that share DNS records. You may perhaps rather want to setup a DNS server system consisting of a master and slave DNS server for your authoritative zone (domain name) on each node, but also configure for DNS forwarding and perhaps caching to public DNS servers on the internet. You may want to configure primary and secondary DNS records on your client sides in /etc/resolve.conf, perhaps also using some round-robin or timeout options.
    I'm afraid Google will be your best friend. You may find below links helpful in your approach:
