How to connect two computers in one room to a router in a 2nd room?

I have a Linksys modem and WRT54G router in an entry panel in my laundry room. I have newer house with cat5 cables connected from the router to computers in various rooms. In the room that we use as an office, we want to connect a 2nd computer to the network, but there is only one ethernet jack on the wall and that jack is used for the first (existing) computer in the room. I don't want to use a wireless connection for 2nd computer.
How do I connect the 2nd computer to network? Do I connect both computers to a hub in the office and connect the hub to the ethernet jact on the wall?

Witch port should one use? Till now I thought one should connect the wall jack to the uplink port and the 2 computers to the other ports on the switch or hub?

We have Netgear WGT624 router.
We cannot make video chats outside with our AIM/Jabber accounts.

You should access the Netgear with a web Browser and confirm it is using UPnP
UPnP allows the computers/Apps to open the ports it needs when it needs them and will allow multiple computers to use the same ports at the same time if requires.
It SHOULD NOT be doing Port Forwarding (Services) at the same time - nor Port Triggering if that one has it or DMZ as these will clash with UPnP

How can two computers in one room have different wireless strength?

I have a Time Capsule that is a few years old. I also have a MacMini that is about 5 years old. I moved the Mac Mini from one side of the room to another in front of the window. When the Mac Mini was in its old space the wireless strength showed all the bars. Now that it is in the new area it shows 2 to 3 bars. What makes it even stranger is if I am using my Macbook Pro at the same time the other computer is on even in another room it has the wireless strength showing all the bars. How is this possible? Why is this happening? What could be causing this problem? Help!!

There are 3 antennas on the old TC.. around the 3 sides.. none in the front where the ports are.. Wireless is highly affected by location and how many antennas it directly sees.. if there is any material in the way of direct line between the two.. any metal wlll reflect signal.. that includes the metal frame inside the TC and the metal parts inside the mac mini.. so small orientation changes hugely affect wireless. !!
And water like dampness in bricks.. or even including the meat popsicles hitting the keyboard, sitting between the TC and the client computer will absorb the wifi. You are after all 50-70% water.. all wifi takes place in direct line.. get into the line and your body will be the barrier. The antenna in the Mac Mini are also located somewhere probably around the sides.. make sure you align them so a person can see from one to the other and orientate it so the antennas (hidden) can see each other.. plastic is invisible to them. With nothing in the way.
Laptops have better spaced and superior type antennas.. and probably a totally different wireless card.
It will also depend on the band it uses. A 5year old mini .. is that G or N wireless?? If N wireless then it is probably single band ie 2.4ghz.
The laptop if recent may use either 2.4ghz or 5ghz.
So you see there are many factors.

If they are, try Home Sharing (and you have control of both and you aren't just trying to get music fro your computer to your friend's computer in another state). If they are not, you'll have to use an external hard drive or flash drive.

I am in a gaming community and many members have a Linksys at home (but I don't know which kind exactly). Many of us try to connect two computers to the same server (many have a family). It seems it is a common problem that no one can connect two computers to the same game server.
I have a BEFSR41 V3 Firmware version 1.04.8
I use fixed IP address and no connectivity problem on Internet.
I have win XP SP2 on both computer.
I am using a DSL modem
I can connect the two computers to two different game servers at same time, but not the same server. Default port for this game is the same for all servers I use. I tried with both port forwarding enabled (in that case one PCs can connect the other not) or not (in the second case, whenever the second PC connects, the first one lose his connection to the server, no mater the order I try to connect my PCs).
Now the weird thing is that one member in my community just decided to throw away his Linksys router and he bought another brand (which I won't name to remains politically correct). Now, without changing anything in his PCs or his connection type, he can now play with two PC on the same server.
I am seriously thinking doing the same move. Since more and more game are now using Internet (and servers that controls piracy, $$) and family want to play together, not being able to connect two PCs on the same game server makes Linksys in bad situation from marketing point of view.
For example, in my gaming communtity, we now all know that Linksys can't handle two PC on same server, but other brand can...

Can two computers share one iTunes library?

I am trying to map out a new plan for how we store and play music via iTunes at home. Currently, our music is stored on a windows PC and played via iTunes and an airport express. I recently bought a new macbook and am considering an airport extreme with the hope that I can store the music on a hard drive attached to the airport extreme and play music from either computer. Can the two computers share one library? I already have home sharing turned on and can access my library from the macbook, but if possible, I would prefer having the hard drive separate of the desktop. Any reason this won't work?

Hi, is the iMac also 10.6.8? I had an iMac die when 10.6.8 was installed, it worked at first but after some You Tube flash videos the screen just locked and no mouse clicking anywhere did anything. It turned out that most older iMacs [ mine was from august 2007] have a graghics chipset that can't handle Snow Leopard, there were [are?] 77 pages on this "locked screen"topic in the Snow Leopard forum. I checked out a web site that tells you how much your mac is worth by filling in the sereal number-mine was worth only $168, I may give it to a friend for his children to play with, although that seems unholy. The first AAA server listed in your config will always be used unless/until it becomes unavailable. At that point the NAD would move down to the next AAA server defined on the list and use that one until it becomes unavailable and then move to third one, and so on.
If you want to use two AAA servers at the same time then you will need to put a load balancer in front of them. Then the virtual IP (vip) will be listed in the NADs vs the individual AAA servers' IPs.
