How to control listener log levels with log.xml

I'm running Oracle 11 and I am seeing tons of log.xml files being created, rotated, and renamed. Looking at the log.xml files, I'm seeing what appears to be rather excessive logging. It appears to be logging every single connection. Is there any way to control the logging levels for this file and/or decrease the number of log files kept in the rotation?

I don't believe it is possible to disable part of the ADR activity. But I would be interested in your definition of "excessive logging."
Are you seeing a specific performance impact or are you just seeing something different from 10gR2 (meaning the new ADR functionality)?

  • How do I set the logging level with the plug-in 1.4

I am writing an applet that will be hosted in the plug-in version 1.4. I'd like to set up some logging statements using the java.util.logging API. I have successfully got it to print out log messages, but it is not printing anything below level INFO. How can I set it up to print out log statements at the FINEST level?

If you are using the default logger for logging from the applet, the default log level from the logging.properties file in your JRE lib directory is the place. There is an entry
.level= INFO In this file. You can modify this entry.
This is a a roundabout way of achieving it. since we are modifying the default log level here, it will be used by other java applications as well. I am looking for a better solution.

  • How to control adobe flash files with sliders and buttons

    Hi,
I am trying to make a front panel for a vehicle completely designed in flash, and control it through labview.  I can load a flash file into an activex container successfully.  I have followed this thread here http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=351719  and gotten everything working.
But my question is, how can I send data to the flash file from labview?  Some examples of things I need to do:  Interpret a CAN signal and have some text appear on the screen, Make buttons flash, etc.
I understand how to load the swf, Im just not sure how to communicate with it.  One thing to mention is that the front panel for the vehicle will be fully custom coded.  However in the meantime, I am trying to figure out how to control it from labview.  Like if there is a clock.swf out on the net, how can I change the time from labview?  Is there a way to see what parameters are available for changing?
    Thanks in advance

    Hello,
What specific Active X framework are you using to embed the container? The thread you referenced mentions Shockwave's Active X API, does this set of Active X functions expose methods for object control?
Could you elaborate as to the driver behind a fully Flash based front panel embedded within LabVIEW? Is this application inevitably going to be deployed as thin client software?
For interaction with custom flash applications aside from Active X, LabVIEW has an integrated Web Services feature to allow data transfer from custom thin client applications to the LabVIEW environment for processing and instrument control. A detailed discussion of the Web Services feature may be found via the links below:

  • How to control windows XP machine with ARD (by using a VNC Client on the PC

I have TightVNC on the Windows machine and I can control it fine with Chicken of the VNC on the Mac; however, I would like to control the Windows machine with ARD like Apple's website states.
    How do I do this?
    thanks

Thanks, I found my problem to be the VNC client I was using on the PC's. I was using TightVNC and while it worked for Chicken, it did not work for ARD. Once I installed RealVNC and configured it everything worked beautifully.

  • How to control a parallel port with labview

Hi. I'm trying to control a dc motor with a parallel port using labview. the program has to be able to vary the out put voltage of the computer (0 - 5V) through the parallel port into a circuit which will step up the voltage for the motor. Any help would be greatly appreicated. garreth

Do you want to output and varying signal from the parallel port pins? If so you can't do it, the port pins are digital and can only be high or low, not inbetween. You can control the individual lines high or low using the In/Out Port vis in Advanced>>Port I/O. For more help on doing this search the message archives (I know I've answered a few) and NI's site, there is some good info on it out there. Try some of these for starters:

  • How to control RMAN backup of archive logs in FRA

    Setup:
    11.2.0.2 GI
ASM Diskgroup for Fast Recovery Area
    10.2.0.4 Enterprise Database
    Without Catalog Database
To get familiar with Flashback Database we set up RMAN Backups
    without deleting the archive logs,
as published in Oracle10g / 11g - Getting Started with Recovery Manager (RMAN) (Doc ID 360416.1)
"These deletions are managed by Oracle when space is required."
We observed that RMAN takes backups of all archive logs every time,
here we go with backing up archive logs every 30 minutes.
    So the question is:
Is this (backing up all archive logs every time) the expected behavior or
the result of not using a catalog database or
    any other mismatch?
    thanx for any hint
    Michael

    Hi Michael,
In Note 360416.1 it refers to two archivelog backup commands.
    BACKUP ARCHIVELOG ALL;and
BACKUP ARCHIVELOG FROM TIME 'SYSDATE-30' UNTIL TIME 'SYSDATE-7';Your question:
Is this (backing up all archive logs every time) the expected behavior or the result of not using a catalog database or any other mismatch? If you used the first script you will backup alle archivelogs everytime.
If you use the second one it will do a subset (probably not the range you want to backup...)
    You could implement another script
BACKUP ARCHIVELOG NOT BACKED UP 2 TIMES;So every archivelog is only backed up twice.
    Check

  • How to control an Xserve G4 with the serial port

I have an Xserve G4 first generation, and was wondering exactly how you would go about connecting to it via serial port incase I need to change something when there is a network issue. I have looked around the internet without much success. It has Leopard Server on it, so Apple says the baud rate is 56700, and 8bit, no parity. So that's all set in the client machine, which is a MacBook Pro with a USB to Serial adapter on it, which shows up in Zterm. Once I'm in Zterm, it just sits there, and pressing enter doesn't prompt a log in. Does anyone see what else I'm most likely missing?
    Thanks

Thanks for the reply Cemelot. Yes, I did create a profile in ZTerm. This is what I have it set to.
I also read that you're supposed to run the command "/usr/libexec/getty serial.57600 /dev/tty.serial" on the Xserve itself.  It made no difference if I did that or not. I also checked to make sure tty.serial was inside /dev/. Anything else I'm missing? Thanks again.

  • How to control two different processes with one DAQ output board

Hi! I posted this in the Signal Generators forum, but I'm reposting here in case someone on this board has suggestions for a way to get around my problem programmatically (ie. within LabVIEW). Thank you for any help you can provide.
    Patrick
I have a PXI-6722 8-channel, 13-bit analog output board, and with this I want to independently control both the temperature (thermometer excitation/heater control) and magnetic field in my experiment. Unfortunately, it appears that I cannot do both simultaneously, which is totally unacceptable for my application.
Currently I'm using separate VI's for field and temperature control. This is the start of the problem, because in DAQmx you can't have 2 output tasks on the same card at the same time. In order to remedy this situation, I used MAX to create a global task containing all 8 13-bit analog outputs. However, it now appears that each time I do a write operation on this task (from whichever VI) I must write to all of the task channels, rather than just the channels I want to change. This would be fine for the temperature controls as they are of the type "set an output voltage value and hold it until told differently," so I could re-write the currently held values for channels that are not being changed. Magnetic field control will not work in this way, because we need to do very smooth field sweeps which require an analog waveform to be sent and sampled at a high rate (so that the steps are as small as possible). So if, for example, a thermometer's excitation voltage or a heater's power need to be changed during a field sweep (as is often necessary to maintain a constant temperature, via PID), then the sweep will be disrupted, potentially causing a dangerous magnet quench.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I could make this work? It seems very wasteful to buy a second output board when I still have lots of free channels on the first.
    Thanks,
    Patrick

I'd probably create a third process that just updates all output values on the card whenever necessary.
One way is to send messages via queues from the temperature and magnetic field control routines to the third process. The third process doesn't do anything unless it gets a message from one of the two other processes. The message should contain the channel task ID to change along with the new value. Use the LabVIEW queue VI's, using a type definition to specify the message type either when you create the queue or use the variant VI's. Once it gets a message, it updates the changed channels, not modifying the others (use a shift register to store an array with the current set of output values).
    Hope this helps.

  • How to control Order/Target Quantity with reference to Contract Quantity

    Hello GURUs,
In my current organization, there is one scenario in which i have to control target quantity in sales contract e.g., i have created sales contract of 100 MT (contract no : 123), and with reference to that contract i have created another contract for say 100 MT (contract no : 456), after that i have changed quantity (of contract no 456) to 150 from original quantity 100. In this case system allows to do so, which is not correct, and i want same to be control based original contract quantity.
Is there any solution in standard system to control the same? If there is any then pleas let me know.
    Thanks,
    Pratik

    Hello,
    Let me clarify your requirement:
You have created Contract no. 456 (100 MT) with reference to another Contract No. 123 (100 MT).
Now you want that system should not allow to change quantity in Contract no. 456 & keep it as it is (100 MT) in Original Contract No. 123.
Now, if the above requirment is from Sales Order created with reference to Contract then it can be easily don thru Item Category Controls.
But as the second COntract (456) is entirely a new Contract with it own contral parameters (validity dates, etc) system will allow you to change Quantity & other feilds).
You requirment is not standard & will have be achieved thru applying a User Exit. Speak to your ABAPer & he would do the needful .
    Hope this helps,

  • How  can i listen to voicemails with a mime attachment

I have u-verse unified voicemail messages forwarded into my business e-mails.  They come in as a mime-attachment.  I cannot open them to listen to the voicemails.  Any idea if I need an application to hear these messages?  Of if there is a specific setting I need to use?

Rudegar is correct.  You've got to have a headset that is A2DP capable.  Now the good news, and this is not an advertisement.  I have a Samsung H1700 that is an A2DP unit.  It works GREAT with my 4S.  I've never had a connection problem, I can leave my phone charging in the house and go into my front yard and use my phone.  It has voice prompts, so when you go out of range it tells you.  It also tells you when it connects to the iPhone.  It's cheap, comfortable and looks professional.  The charge lasts forever the way I use it... and I do use it.  Another great unit that has never given me connection problems is the Jabra  BT530.  It also  is an a2dp unit, but it's not as loud as the Samsung and I have a hearing loss so I need the Samsung.
I keep reading where folks have BT problems, but I've gone through a 3GS units and two 4S units (the first 4S had a serious battery issue, but no issue with bluetooth.
    Hope this helps.

  • How do I listen to music with a darkened screen?

I'm sure I'm missing something elementary.
My Touch works fine, except the monitor remains on at all times. Even with longer playlists, the monitor remains bright. This can't be good for power usage.
How do I get my Touch to darken shortly after a playlist has begun, as with my old 3g?

If you have auto-lock on, the screen will dim about 30 seconds before your auto-lock kicks in. And once auto-lock is on, the iPod will be "asleep" (with the screen dark) but your music will still play. You can wait for auto-lock to happen (adjust settings under Settings > General > Auto-Lock - the default is 1 minute, I think), or you can manually put the iPod to sleep by pressing the sleep/wake button on the top of the iPod, once. Your music will continue to play, even though the iPod is asleep.
