How to Control Width / Align rightmost edge of sub regions on a page ?

Hi folks
Am Apex newbie using Oracle XE and 4.0.1 Apex to develop app on laptop before deploying to production.
I have a page with region display selector and multiple sub-regions.
Am using Theme as per the Issue Tracker packaged application.
Problem is that my subregions on page align on left hand side but the subregions widths are different ... therefore page looks a bit scrappy / unprofessional as regions look a bit like
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Is there any way to control / make the subregions widths the same so that screen looks better.
Have spent ages moving individual fields on page to try and force sizes to match but with no luck .. so any help would be gratefully received as always.
Thanks

Hi-
I was trying to align sub-regions side-by-side, I followed what Patrick suggested to put the following in the region's sub-region template.
<div> #SUB_REGION# </div>then to be enable to put the subs side-by-side I had to put the following in the regions attributes.
width: 300px; float: left
that would align the subs side-by-side, I tried to change the template so I can use the attributes
<div#REGION_ATTRIBUTES#> #SUB_REGION# </div>but when I ran the page I can see the following in the Firebug.
<div #region_attributes#="">so no effect, am I missing something or what.

Omar

  • How to control the size and position of the region on a page?

    I am trying to create welcome page for my client. I need to create a banner and place the login region in the cente of the page with a fixed width and height. How can I do this.
    Thanks.
    Satya

    Hi,
    Edit your region and go to region header of your region
    and type this
    region header
    <table width ="100px" height = "100px">
    <tr>
    <td>
    region footer
    </td>
    </tr>
    </table>
    you can customize your region position in this way...just use table tag attributes,,i hav egiven example of only height and width but you can use all the table attributes to customize your region like background color,back ground image,alignment etc..
    hope this helps you,

  • H:panelgrid help to control width, alignment of TD etc in JSF

    Hi
    I am new to JSF. Just started to crawl in the technology. I have html table like this,
    <TABLE BORDER="2" CELLSPACING="0" CELLPADDING="0">
    <TR>
    <TD WIDTH="226" HEIGHT="1" CLASS="lbgcolor">
    <IMG SRC="null.gif" WIDTH="226" HEIGHT="1"></TD>
    </TR>
    <TR>
    <TD ALIGN="CENTER" WIDTH="226" HEIGHT="87" CLASS="lbgcolor">
    <IMG SRC="nnnn.gif" BORDER="0">
    </TD>
    </TR>
    </TABLE>
    I like to implement the same using core JSF tags and it looks like,
    <h: panelGrid border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" columns="1"
    columnClasses="lbgcolor" >
    <h:graphicImage value="null.gif" width="226" height="1"></h:graphicImage>
    <h: panelGroup >
    <h:graphicImage value="nnnn.gif" > </h:graphicImage>
    </h: panelGroup>
    </h: panelGrid>
    1. Is this the way to do ?
    2. I am not able to set width, alignment, height to TD using JSF core tags. Can anyone suggest how to do this ?

  • How to control width an height of a page region

    Hi all.
    How do i control width an height of a page region?. Say you have 4 regions on a page and want to tightly control these attributes, for example as a percentage of page dimension.
    Is that possible?, Also can it be manipulated dynamically?
    Best regards, Luis ....!

    Hi Luis,
    I don't know about dynamically but in the Region Attributes you can add 'style="width:100px" (or whatever value you want 10%, 25% etc.) to control the width
    and to control the height you need to add:
    <div style="overflow: auto; height: 450px;">(again or whatever size)
    to the region header and
    </div>to the region footer
    regards

  • How to control width of Design pod in RH8?

    Hi all,
    This is just a UI annoyance, but I'd like to get around it. I'm working in RH8.
    When I'm in the Design/HTML pod, the ruler across the top of the pod extends beyond the right margin. Consequently, a scroll bar appears across the bottom of the pod.
    When working in the pod, entering long lines of text causes the window to scroll left and right automatically, and I can't see the entire line of text I've entered.
    Increasing/decreasing the width of the pod doesn't change this behavior - the ruler across the top scales with the pod size. Moving the right margin/tab marker doesn't help either.
    Is there any way to control the pod width so I can see a full line of text w/out a scroll bar at the bottom? I'm guessing it's something easy - just haven't found it yet.
    Thanks all,
    Patrick

    Hi all
    I'd like to offer a wee bit of clarificaition.
    There is no such thing as a "Tab Stop" in the world of HTML. As such, there is no such thing as a "Tab Stop" in the RoboHelp HTML ruler. These are simply visual ways to adjust the margins on the HTML page.
    I'd hate to see a rash of posts where folks are suddenly asking where they can insert tab stops in RoboHelp HTML.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Add TWO Edge Animations/Stages to ONE web page (without using oam)

    Hi All,
    This is a bit of a follow on question for those who are adding scalable height/width edge compositions to web pages using the awesome piece of code created by Sarah (http://sarahjustine.com/) and other forum contributors... (attached code below).
    My question is: How do I add a second Edge Animate composition to the same page using this method?  So it's using "Stage" already... i'm guessing it's a matter of changing it to "Stage_02" etc in the following code?  I've tried changing the relevant code but so far I have been unsuccessful in getting it to recognise a second stage.
    Any help would be appreciated, many thanks in advance for your time.

  • How do you create aligned interactive text boxs in a PDF with the same width and height?

    how do you create aligned interactive text boxs in a PDF with the same width and height?
    Without free hand creating the sizing?

    Assuming by "interactive text boxes" you mean form fields; in Acrobat, make a form field, then copy it and paste. (GIve the pasted copy a different name so they don't genetate the same field feedback.) Now you have two fields of the exact same size. Shift-click or marquee-drag to select both, then right-click and choose a command from the Align, Distribute or Center menu.

  • How to Control the width of the Filter row in Table View

    Hi !
    I have a Table View with filter='application'. The filter works fine but I am not able to control the width of the columns of the tableview .
    On filtering, if there are not items in the table view the columns shrink to the minum width....and  it looks very odd.
    Can you help me how to control the width of the Filter-Row in Table Veiw.
    Thanks and Best Regards,
    Bindiya

    Hi Raja,
    "FIXEDCOLUMN" did not help in the width of the column, but it just showed all the rows merged in the column.
    I have a cloumn called "COUNTRY" and its width is set to "20". The Filter of the column "COUNTRY" is a dropdownlist whos value is update with new values.
    On filtering if there is any row visible then the column width is adjusted to the maxmimum length of the dropdownlist ( this is because of the "EDIT" attribute in column definition ). But if there is no rows visiblel for the selected filter value then the filter row shrinks to the width = "20" and the dropdownlist is not visible completely.
    Need to know how to control the width of the FILTER column.
    Thanks and Best Regards,

  • How do I use align="right" for text in a dl environment?

    I use a <dl> environment to control vertical line spacing extensively (thousands of pages).  Here is the objective:
    But I also need to have generation numbers, e.g. "2.2.1" right aligned on a defined width page.  I have tried various ways of achieving this using <div>, <span>, etc.  Each has unintended consequences.  The above is created using <table> in the <dt> line.  But W3C validator objects every time.
    Here is my script:
    Or, if this is easier to read:
    <dt class="type_U_XXX"><table width="720" border="0" cellpadding="0">
      <tr>
        <td width="680">Johann Peter Bayer (*23.10.1716 Undenheim)</td>

    How can I right-align the numbers in a <dl> environment?  It has to be in the <dt> line, not the <dd>.  Using the <dd> line indents the left margin, which is not acceptable.
    Thanks for your help.  Please be very explicit.  Please show me the line or two of script that is needed, don't just say for example, use a <div>.

    I love your use of the definition list   However, nesting <table> in <dt> is obviously not good.

  • How to control this?

    Hello everybody.
    Sometimes when HTMLDB 1.6 generate the page it include a table with many [td] with nothing.

    Thanks for you answerd Denes,
    Sometimes when HTMLDB generate a web page, create a empty table like this, and every element work like a [<br>] being very dificult to control de layout of page.
    But this must have a reason I think . ¿What is this reason? (It is not a empty region).
    Thanks

  • How to control the maximum size of a component in a GridBagLayout

    Here is a small program that demonstrates my issue (it's originally from a big program that I couldn't attach here).
    I have a GridBagLayout with some components in it. Some of the components are JEditorPane (displaying some HTML) within JPanel and are individally scrollable.
    Here we go:
    - when I resize the main panel, every components will resize accordingly to their weight (which is here the same for all of them): fine
    - when I reduce the size of the main panel until it reaches all the preferred size of each component, the scrollPane of the main panel appears so that the user can scroll: not fine
    The behaviour I'm looking for is: when I reduce the size of the main panel, when it reaches the preferred size of the components, I would like that the JEditorPane (which are in JPanel with BorderLayout/CENTER) display their individual scrollbars so that I can see all the JEditor panes at the same time without having to scroll the main window.
    If the user continues to reduce the size of the main panel, then, at one point, display the scrollpane of the main panel.
    See what I mean? How to control this?
    Here is the code:
    @SuppressWarnings("serial")
    public final class CGridBagLayout2 extends JFrame {
         JPanel mainPanel;
         private final JScrollPane scrollPane;
         private JPanel panelize(Component component, String localization) {

    Ok, thanks for this information, I thought I had seen this happening in the past when embedding a component in the center area of a JPanel with BorderLayout.
    Anyway, as I said I tested with JScrollPane as well and it does not change anything.
    Here is the code modified:

    Hi,
    I'm working an example in APEX 4.2 so YMMV (your milage may vary!).
    For Classic Reports, where the Column Attributes "Display As" is set to Display as Text (escape special characters ...:
    1) I find that Column width and Element Width setting have no effect to make the column smaller or larger.
    2) Here is one way that works:
    - In the Region's Region Definition, under Attributes give the Static ID a name (no spaces), say, class-report.
    - In the columns you want to affect, place "&#60;div>#ENAME#</div&#62;" in the columns Column Formatting "HTML Expression". Where "ENAME" here is the actual column name.
    I'm using the EMP table as an example.
    - Finally, in the page's HTML Header put, for example
    <style>
    #classic-report td.data[headers="ENAME"] div {
      width: 200px;
      color: blue;
    #classic-report td.data[headers="JOB"] div {
      width: 50px;
      white-space: nowrap;
      word-wrap: break-word;
    </style>This makes the ENAME column wider and the JOB column smaller and wraps it.
    Much more could be said. If you tweak you will find you can also affect spacing above, below and right/left of the data.
    #classic-report .report-standard th.header {
      border-left: #9fa0a0 1px solid;
      padding: 2px 3px 4px 5px;   /* top right bottom left margins */
      font-size: 11px;
      font-weight: bold;
      vertical-align: bottom;
    #classic-report .report-standard td.data {
      border-left: #9fa0a0 1px solid;
      padding: 3px 4px 5px 6px;
      font-size: 9px;
    }Does this help?

    How to increase width of canvas in xcelsius?

    Hi
    The simplest way is to go to File > Document Properties> Document and check Custome Size.  You will then be able to set the width and height in pixels.
    Alternatively if you want to widen the canvas as your components already go over the edge you can use the Fit Canvas to Components icon on the toolbar along the top.
    Hope this helps.
