How to create a Blog in Portal

We are upgrading to portal verion 7.0.  I have been getting a lot of requests to create blogs on the portal.  Is there a cookbook for configuring and using blogs?  I have been looking on the SDN for info on this and I can't find what I need.  Pointers would be much appreciated.

Hi Christine,
The WPC might give you some Blog features. There are some feature as blog comments available.
ALso interesting might be a WIKI :
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/9027
The question is when do you need this and do you want SAPs one (later) or one from a 3rd Party like HLP (first blog comment) now.
Regards,
Kai

i am stucking at "Community Page URL"
can any one tell me how to give this url.
    or
tell me how to create a blog clearly.

    Hi Basha,
    Please follow the below steps.
once you open SDN community, in menu bar you will find "blogs" click on blogs.
In left side, click on "create or update Author page" --> now you have to rigister your self and submit.
Then you will get mail to your registered mail id about confirmation.
Now again  follow the same navigation instead of create author page --> click on Expert blogger home
Now click on create new web blog post.
    Hope it helps

  • How to Create diff URL in Portal.

    Hi Friends.
I have one doubt on How to Create diff URL in Portal. We have only one EP-Server.
For Example I have done logon page for portal when open the portal URL I m getting that logon page. So I did not get SAP Standard Logon Page By using Same URL.
So I need one more Diff URL that URL having my Logon page. So that time I login into the Portal I am able to see our logon Page.
When I logon to diff URL that time I am able to See SAP Standard Logon Page.
    Regards
    Vijay Kalluri

    Hi,
SAP Logon page gets loaded based on similar concept of Servlet-jsp works i.e. based on pattern passed, in usual case irj is pattern which is identified by j2ee engine based on xml as portal web component and invokes it.
Now to have 2 different logon pages; we need to pass 2 different patterns: have an entry for each in xml file and different web components for each.
This is solely based on my cinceptual knowledge but have not tried it.

  • How to create a community in Portal?

    Hi all
Can anyone tell me how to create a community? Is it same as normal collaboration room?
    Regards
    Aparnna

    Hi Aparnna,
SDN is a very good example for a great community platform. It's build on the SAP NetWeaver Portal but without the use of collaboration rooms. It combines different Web 2.0 collaboration tools like forums, WIKI, blogs into a portal platform. SAP wants to deliver this capabilities with an integrated platform for the SAP NetWeaver Portal supporting rapid deployment and a centralized and scalable governance known from collaboration rooms. The product is called Collaboration Portal and has been introduced at this TechEd in Las Vegas. Some features are already released (like Web Page Composer or the new discussion forum) others will be delivered with the product ramp-up in Q1/08. General availability of the Collaboration Portal is planned for Q3/08.

  • How to Create HTML page from portal

    Hi
I have a requirement to create html pages from portal.
There will be an author who can choose document type as HTML
and then he will write html codes on saving it should be saved as HTML doc in UCM.
and publisher should be able to display it on portal(may be using content presenter).
please help me in this. I know there is rich text editor task flow which can save a doc as doc file.
and in spaces we have option of creating HTLM file but i don't know how to do it for my portal.
    Thanks

A better way would be to create the page using approach in this blog:
    https://blogs.oracle.com/ATEAM_WEBCENTER/entry/content_presenter_cmis_complete
That way the page can be edited inline and the html author need not upload html to ucm everytime.

  • How to Create a system in portal server

I am trying to do the tutorial: How to Create a JDBC-based iView for Add/Update/Delete Record.
Its pre-requisite is: A system – with an alias “JDBC” – defined on your portal server, and mapped to a database.
Since I am new to VC, I do not know how to create a system, and I also do not know how to access the portal server.
    Please help...

    Hi Makarand,
Do you have any one who has the access to portal with administrator rights. I am hereby sending you the steps on how to create a system.
    To define a system:
    1. Create a new system; define all its properties
    2. Create a default system alias.
    3. Create a user mapping (from the user you use in VC) to the system alias, using the user\password to the backend system.
    4. TEST the connection in the portal. If the test succeeds, it should be visible in VC discovery panel.
VC retrieves the systems via the portal.
You have to define the systems or use the defined systems in the portal you are connected.
To define systems in the portal:
System Administration => system configuration => system landscape:
in the PCD: right click on a folder and Add new system.
Then you have to define all the mandatory properties: Connector / Was / User management ...
don’t forget to map your portal user with an R3/JDBC user...
    thank you very much.

  • How to create a blog like list with items indented.

Hey guys i know there has got to be a easy way to do this but quite frankly im just stuck. Im trying to create a blog like list kind of like what you see in wordpress or even facebook.
I've tried using the vbox, vgroup and some other without any luck. I guess my basic problem is that once you have the vgroup laid out or the vbox laid out  how can you push the one container over to the right a little? in other words kind of lile a parent child relationship? how can i go about doing that?  should i be a looking at another component? how would you guys attempted this. Love to hear suggestions or see a snippet of code.
    thanks guys.
    Miguel

I'm basically trying to recreate a list type of display like so. I think im close but my approach i believe lacks elegance.

  • How to create a Blog in Adobe Muse

Hi, who created a blog in Adobe Muse, help me please!

Unfortunately, you can't create a blog in Muse, not yet anyway. I've been researching this for a long time, and you just can't do it. If enough folks ask Adobe for it, then it will probably be added to a future update. For now, the only thing you can do is get the embedd code from an actual blog like Tumblr or Nabble, and then copy that bit of code using "insert HTML" on your Muse page. That will give you a generic looking little scrolling box with your latest blog entries, but it's probably not what you're looking for.
What I've decided to do is create a custom blog in Blogger, make it look as close to my Muse site as I can, and then just link it into my Muse site using a custom nav button. So I redirect my visitors to the Blogger site. If you customize the Blogger page enough with background images, colors, fonts, etc, your visitors may not even know they left your site unless the look in their browsers address bar.
I hope that's helpful. But if you're not familiar with Blogger, it's through Google, it's free, and it's a great blogging platform.

  • How to create a blog?

I want to publish a blog site. The blog templates that come with iWeb do not include a function that allows you to add a new post online, you have to add the post in iweb and then re-publish it. I guess I am missing something here for obviously this is not how a blog should work. You should be able to add new posts directly on the web. What did I miss?

    You're welcome. After a quick look at the installing instructions for Wordpress I realize that I have started something which is not as straight forward as I hoped. Here's the "easy six step" install;
+1. Download and unzip the WordPress package, if you haven't already.+
+2. Create a database for WordPress on your web server, as well as a MySQL user who has all privileges for accessing and modifying it.+
    +3. Rename the wp-config-sample.php file to wp-config.php.+
+4. Open wp-config.php in your favorite text editor and fill in your database details as explained in Editing wp-config.php to generate and use your secret key password.+
+5. Place the WordPress files in the desired location on your web server:+
+If you want to integrate WordPress into the root of your domain (e.g. http://example.com/), move or upload all contents of the unzipped WordPress directory (but excluding the directory itself) into the root directory of your web server.+
+If you want to have your WordPress installation in its own subdirectory on your web site (e.g. http://example.com/blog/), rename the directory wordpress to the name you'd like the subdirectory to have and move or upload it to your web server. For example if you want the WordPress installation in a subdirectory called "blog", you should rename the directory called "wordpress" to "blog" and upload it to the root directory of your web server.+
+Hint: If your FTP transfer is too slow read how to avoid FTPing at : Step 1: Download and Extract.+
+6. Run the WordPress installation script by accessing wp-admin/install.php in your favorite web browser.+
+If you installed WordPress in the root directory, you should visit: http://example.com/wp-admin/install.php+
+If you installed WordPress in its own subdirectory called blog, for example, you should visit: http://example.com/blog/wp-admin/install.php+
+That's it! WordPress should now be installed.+
Step one was easy. The rest is greek to me. Surely there must be a simpler solution? Basically I want to make a web-based diary, hosted on me.com for instance. Am I the first person to have this idea? I think not, but when I search "the internets" I find to my surprise nothing.
I dont want to have my diary/blog locked in a file on the computer, I want it to be accessible from the web (for obvious reasons I would think). It's a very basic, simple and normal need. I thought iWeb/me.com could be the easy fix, but I am obviously mistaken. The world has let me down on this. Somebody has to pay for this!

  • How to create a chat between portals

    Hi,
I would like to know if it's possible to create a chat (into Collaboration) between two portals. For example, to communicate a portal from Spain with another portal in EEUU.
if so, how could I create it? Do I need federate portals for it?
    Thanks in advance,
    Samantha.

Activate the collaboration launch pad and do the following ...you should have the chat session working.....
    Instant Messenger
In order to be able to use the Real-Time Collaboration functions (sending instant messages or sharing applications), you must activate the RTC Session Manager after installing Collaboration.
To activate the RTC Session Manager, perform the following steps:
    1.     Go to the default framework page.
Enterprise Portal     Portal Content  ® Portal Users ® Standard Portal Users ® Default Framework Page.
    2.     Double-click Default Framework Page.
    3.     Select the Tool Area iView checkbox and choose Open.
    4.     Choose Show All in the Property Editor drop list menu.
    5.     Expand the Enable Real-Time Collaboration properties.
    6.     Select Yes radio button.
    7.     Choose Save.
    8.     Choose Close.
    9.     Choose F5 to refresh your portal screen.
Two synchronous collaboration service providers are included with the initial installation of the Collaboration for SAP Enterprise Portal. The initially installed synchronous collaboration service providers are:
    •     Real Time Collaboration (SAP RTC), which provides application sharing.
    •     WebEx, which provides the WebEx meeting center service.
Upon installation of Collaboration for SAP Enterprise Portal, synchronous collaboration services are not activated. You must activate synchronous collaboration service types before they can be used.
    10.     Review the list of activated service types.
Go to System Administration  System Configuration  Knowledge Management  Collaboration  Synchronous Collaboration Services  Activated Service Types
    11.     Choose New button.
    12.     Check the RTC_ApplicationSharing checkbox.
value points if this helps you !!
