How to create a Child Window without closing the parent Window

Hi All,
I have a requirement to create a child window without closing the parent window. I have to click an item in the parent window, then one child window should get open. The parent window should not be closed before closing the child window.

I found the solution for this. I have created a new page. Then i created an item as link item style in the parent page and i have set the following properties in the Link item:
Destination URI : OA.jsp?page=/seagate/oracle/apps/seasoa/que/webui/SeaSoaHeaderDetailPG&headerId={@ErrHeaderId}&retainAM=Y&addBreadCrumb=Y&backPage=S
Target Frame : _blank
This is opening the new child window without closing the parent window.

Do the following steps :
-> Make an Outbound Plug to the Window.
->Make the type of Outbound plug to Exit Type.
->Add URL of type String as a parameter to the outbound plug of Window.
->Do remember to add Component Name in the Properties Tab of View ( othervs Calling Outbound plug of window from view wont b possible ).
To open a new URL with closing the previous one write this Code in OnAction of Button : ( this Code can be get from Code Wizard too ).

How do I selectivly close the only not responding window (without closing the other 3 responding windows)

Presently, I have 4 windows opened, each with a bunch of tabs.
Since I restarted firefox this morning, one out these 4 windows, keeps on not displaying.
How do I selectivly close this only window (without closing the 3 others windows)

How to launch a function/procedure without suspending the parent process?

I would like to know if I can define something as follows in PLSQL:

I would like that the procedure master does not suspend the execution and wait that the procedure_child finishes in order to resume the executions with the further code.

How can I link an image without leaving the existing window in adobe acrobat??

I'm new using adobe acrobat, but I saw (once) that in a manual, they linked a image.
Just by passing the mouse over the linked word, the image appears "over" the pdf, without leaving the existing window
Is this still possible?? and How??

Firefox 7 won't allow me to switch windows; if it's up, it's on top, so if I ask it to open a site in a new window (instead of a tab) I can't get to the window without minimizing the first window. This makes it impossible to work.

I upgraded Firefox to 7 on my Win7 Pro 64 bit desktop yesterday. Today when I try to open a site in a new window, the window opens but I can't switch to it unless I actually minimize the first Firefox instance. Clicking on the second window just shows the first window again.
Worse, it insists on being on top of other programs. I needed to check my Norton Firewall settings against some instructions on a web site, and I couldn't switch back and forth - I could ONLY have Firefox on top. Until you fix this I'm going back to Chrome, guys. I have looked through the Options menus and I can't find an "always on top" box to uncheck.

Close popup window and refresh the parent window

Hello,
I have a button in a normal report, when clicked opens up an popup window which is a form containing some items and here in this form (i have some editable text items) I make some changes and click on the apply changes button -- this should update the form, close the popup window and should refresh the parent window.
can anyone please help me out with this issue.

you have your popup window. When they apply the changes you want it to close the window, right?
Modify the button (save, apply changes) and give it url redirect to the custom function you create (See below): javascript:saveChanges();
in the page header, add a new function:

I am using JSF. I try to pass a value that is entered by users in the popup window back to a text field in the parent window.

I have made some modifications to the code in the popup window. The error reported in my previous posting is gone. But, I still have several problems:
1. syntax error in the popup window jsp page: line 45, char 21, syntax error, ..., Do you want to continue running script on this page?2. The popup window does not close after I click on the OK button that I coded in the popup window jsp.
3. The value that I entered in the popup window eventually gets passed back to the text field in the parent window only if I re-run the application.

How to see inbox/ other mail without closing the e-mail I'm writing?

New Mac user seeks help!
If I'm writing an e-mail, I don't seem to be able to switch to my in-box without closing and saving the e-mail first (it's like having an open dialogue box in windows, where you can see but not access the program underneath until you close the box). Can I not have multiple e-mails open at the same time? Or look at my in-box or sent mail while I write? I didn't realize how often I need to check a previous message while writing the current one until now, when I can't do it except laboriously!
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks!! Trying to implement your solution made me realize what my problem was. My default mail setting seemed to be full screen, and in full screen mode I can't access the inbox or buttons underneath the open e-mail. But as soon as I shrink the e-mail slightly in order to see the top menu bar, it allowed me to not only access the menu bar, but also brought the whole inbox and associated tools alive.
With a little playing, I figured out to bring to the foreground function, as well as various ways to see multiple e-mails side-by-side, or switch between them from both the Window menu, as well as from the dock.
Many thanks for your help! While so far I have successfully googled all the things I couldn't figure out how to do, I didn't seem to be able to create search terms that were giving me a meaningful answer to this particular question.
It's a big learning curve, but oh so worth it!

How to create "Filter- Render- Clouds" without using the filter....?

I'm trying to do something and it would take forever to explain. So I'll simplify my question, and I hope you guys know how to do this.
I want to create the same effects the filter called "Clouds" creates. This filter is found in the "Render" sub-menu under "Filter".
I've tried creating Noise, and then bluring it. I've tried painting blobs of white on black, blurring it, then using the "Sponge" filter with no luck.
So, again, a way to create the same effect using any method besides "Clouds" filter... to make it look near or very near to what the "Clouds" filter creates, without using that particular filter. I've spent about 3 hours attempting this with no luck.

Actually, it is not that hard to create clouds from scratch. The secret is to look at lots of real clouds to see how they work. But you can create some pretty good clouds with the render Clouds filter. Start with a canvas way bigger than your target image, and fill with the Render Clouds filter. Then use Free Transform to flatten and reshape it. Also use FT to add LOTS of perspective if you want to get that UltraWide lens look.
Where Render Clouds and FT falls short is that real clouds are layered, and surprisingly dark on their shadow side. But it is still doable with Dodge Burn and multiple cloud layers.
Not quite the sme thing, but I saw a really cool tutorial using clouds on Planet Photoshop a while back. Definitely worth a look at.

Bookmarks opens in a window 2/3's the size of my screen since the latest update. Now the first bookmark I scroll over covers the whole window instead of too the side and I can't close it without closing the bookmarks window

I kept getting a reminder I had a Firefox update I needed to install. I did last night but never opened Firefox again till this morning. Now when I click on bookmarks for the drop down it opens a window almost 2/3's the size of my screen instead of the narrow window it has in the past. Now as soon as I move my mouse over or close to any bookmark it opens up that bookmark in the window and I can't access the bookmark I want. I have to close the whole window and then be very careful as I move my mouse to the correct bookmark. In the past with the narrow window it opened the bookmarks to the side and only after you clicked on them. I have tried to resize the window but can't find any option to do so. Also couldn't find an option that would let me change it so a bookmark had to be clicked on. If this can't be changed I will be removing Firefox. This is too inconvenient for me.

If you have not purchased AppleCare yet please do, this will extend the warranty to 3 years however it MUST be purchased within the first year of ownership. How can I close one window without closing all open windows?

If I open more than one window, I can't close just one. When I try to close just one, I'm warned that I'm about to close more than one (all of them) but I'm not told how to close just one.

Are you sure you aren't getting tabs confused for windows? If you close a window containing multiple tabs, Firefox should give you a warning that you are about to close several tabs. To close a tab do one of the following:
* click the x at the right end of the tab (when you only have a few tabs open)
* open the tab you want to close, then click the x that appears
* right click the tab and select 'Close Tab'
* open the tab you want to close and press Ctrl+W
You can close a window using Ctrl+Shift+W.

How do I get TITLE BAR ONLY to display for a window (without minimizing the whole window)?

I want ONLY the title bar to show, then resize to normal then shrink when I ask it to.

This is with Menus showing.
The title bar will show in zombie mode, not in Full Screen mode ("F11")
The change that I make in the options myself is that the tabs bar always shows
I like to see the title bar normally but in either of those two with the tbs bar displayed, I can hover over the active tab to see what the title actually is.v

How to make the parent window inactive when a child window is opened

hi everybody, i am chaitanya. i am working on a window based application. there are some action events in it. when an event occurs then a child frame is opened prompting the user to confirm for yes or no.
the problem i got is, when the child window is opened the parent window is also active. I dont want this to happen. please help me to fix this problem.

Use a modal JDialog, or better still given the apps. requirement for input, a JOptionPane. The JOptionPane.showInputDialog() or JOptionPane.showConfirmDialog() methods seem well suited to the task.

Calling a Function in the Parent Window from the Child Window

QUESTION: How do I call a function resident in the parent
window from a child window?
BACKGROUND
I have a JavaScript function resident in the parent window
that reformats information obtained from the Date object and writes
the result to the parent window using the document.write( ) method.
I would like to call this function from the child window and have
it write to the child window instead. Is this possible? If not,
must I rewrite the entire function and nest it in the below code?
If so, what is the proper form of nesting?
CODE: The code that creates and fills the child window is
provided below. The highlighted area indicates where I would like
to enter the information from the function resident in the parent
window. I have tried every imaginable permutation of code that I
can imagine and nearly destroyed my parent document in the process.
I am very happy that I had a back-up copy!

Never mind - I was doing something very stupid and wasn't
calling the function as a method of a movie clip. I was simply
calling checkTarget(event) rather than
event.currentTarget.checkTarget(event); which seems to work.
