How to create a connection to a Oracle DB located on another machine?

Hi all,
I am quite new in Oracle :(
Right now I am trying to create Connection to Oracle DB that is located on a different machine than the Oracle SQL Developer.
I fill the" Hostname" field with the host's name where the Oracle DB is but I think this is not enough.
Can some one advice me how to manage this task ?

I think I have all this information but still I am experiencing problems to connect.
I am connecting to Oracle DB normally like that:
sqlplus ora_ser/ora_ser@ora_ser
This is how I fill the connection form :
Connection Name : Oracle_Conn
Username : ora_ser
Password : ora_ser
Connection type: Basic Role: default
Host name : server_name@my_company.com
Port: 1521
SID : ora_ser

Create an RMI application (for example) that writes the log, and let all logging calls call that remote application.
Something like that is the only feasible way that doesn't require you to have a drive on the remote machine mapped to the local one (which causes its own problems as you could have multiple simultaneous write attempts...).

Connection con=ds.getConnection(); ----->(In this line an error occured that Connection class cannot be found.)

Find how many users are connected in the Oracle Server

I am using Oracle 10g. My question is, is it possible to find how many users are connected in the Oracle Server. We are having one Server and we are having many client machines which will connect the Oracle.
And one more question in the meanwhile i want to take Backup of one database which client as connected. Is it get any problem to the client machine which is accessing the server. And How to take the backup from the server machine. Any commands to process.

If You run
select count(*) from v$session where username is not null;you'll get the number of users connected to Oracle server,
and yes , you could do backup while users are connect to db you are backing up.

How to create db connection in IBM WebSphere IDE

I am using IBM WebSpher 5.1.1. And i want to create a back end using ms-access. Can any one suggest me how to create the connection.
While i used
Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
i am getting class not found. So i assumed that IBM doesnt provided such driver in the IDE.
So can any one tell me the alternative to make a back end connection for Ms Access.

I have just nw, got it succeeded.
I just granted
SQL> grant sysdba to sri;
After that I am able to create connection with role 'sysdba'. Hope this post would be useful for someone who tries.

According to your description, you want to connect multiple database from multiple servers using dynamic connection.
If in this case, we can create a Table in our local database (whatever DB we want) and load all the connection strings. We can use Execute SQL Task to query all the connection strings and store the result-set in a variable of object type in SSIS package.
Then use ForEach Loop container to shred the content of the object variable and iterate through each of the connection strings. And then Place an Execute SQL task inside ForEach Loop container with the SQL statements we have to run in all the DB instances.
