How to create a sort priority

Rather than sorting by ascending or descending values, is there a way to create your own priority. For example, what if I wanted to have a military rank column and sort from general -->major-->captain-->private?

Your tag shows iOS. This is the Numbers for Mac forum for OS X. I don't know how this will work in iOS.
However, here we go for Numbers 3.2 on OS X Mavericks.
You can do a multi-column sort in the Sort & Filter Panel. Add a Column until you get all that you want.
If that sort order is not what you want, drag the sorting rules to a new sort order. Hover the cursor over a rule until you see this:
Three horizontal lines on the left. (The garbage bin on the right is the way to delete a sorting rule).

How to create a sort in Office 365 search filter pane

Hi,
I am using Office 365.My first issue is i uploaded an image in Asset Library and searched for that image but i didn't get that image in results.
Second i added some keyword to that image while uploading and i searched with those keywords still no luck.
Third, If i have created a column in of Choice lets say "Selected" and "Rejected" how could i make this column as a filter option in search result page. Like default search filter for Excel, PDF, Word Document, People.
Please guide me on this...

According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to create a custom refiner in search result page.

How would I create this sort of effect?

I have attached an image and I need to know how to create this sort of border around a text....
If anyone could give an "idiots" guide that would be great!!
I really have tried but don't seem to be getting anywhere and i'm sure there's an easy shortcut somewhere.

You can have a stroke that fills in the open spaces within ("the counters") by adding a pathfinder effect to the mix - I wrote up a tutorial here: http://www.illustratorhints.com/2010/05/fill-in-the-counters-on-live-text/
Actually, that shows your whole question I think - I used offset fills instead of strokes, but the idea is the same.

I am reading data data from a database table and wants to build the datatable dynamically based on the columns returned. Crystal Report. How to create sort field programmatically?

After updating CrystalReports to version 13.0.10 I noticed a strange feature in Details section. I'm filling in the Subreport Details section from the User Table. Previously the data was displayed in the order it was in the database. Every time I open the report data now it is displayed in a different order. There is a huge amount of crystal report documents and I am not able to change each document. Is it possible to add a new sorting field programmatically? (I found only how to change existing sort fields)

Setting sort priority to 90.0 by default instead of standard 100.0

Hai,
I have requirement in which i have to upload some 100 roles from SAP R/3. When these 100 roles are imported, it will have sort priority 100.00. I have created a another Iview, that also has sort priority as 100.0 by default.
When I assign few of the roles and the Iview to a user this Iview is coming in between the roles. I want this Iview to be shown in the extreme right in Second Level Navigation. This I can do by changing the sort priority of 100 roles to 90.0. My users are not interested in changing 100 roles.
The below is the approach which I thought of doing but I don't know how to do it, please let me how to achieve this or is there any other way to do it.
When ever a object, role, IVIEW is created by default sort priority 100.0 is assigned to those object. I want to set that value to 90.0 So that when ever i create a new object the sort priority has the value 90.0.
Please let me know how to do this.

If I am going to create Iview then I can use a template to create Iview.
I am using Role Upload function in portal to upload roles for SAP R/3, after I upload the role, the uploaded role has sort priory 100.0. I want to have a sort prioriy as 90.0 when ever I upload a role or create a role.
Please let me know how to do this.

Change the "Sort Priority" of the role to ' 0 '. you can view that role first in the list (Default value is 100). if u give minimun value then that will be displayed as ist role for the user.

I'm using <h:selectManyListbox> to show data.
I do it using the next code:
I create the arrayList with values from datatable
ArrayList<SelectItem> arrayList = new ArrayList<SelectItem>();
while (result.next()) {

arrayList.add(item);
Then I translate to SelectItem[] myListItems using a function:

where I have defined:

But what I want to do is create myListItems sorted.
I have tried differents ways with treeMap, treeSet, but I can be able to make the transformation like I do in arrayList2SelectItem
So, my idea is:
1.- Create a treeMap, so I have the values sorted.
2.- Translate to SelectItem[] myListItems; (here is where I stopped)
Does anybody knows how to achieve this??

How to display the sort value in the selection screen in the report title? I have selected a value in the selection screen for sorting , but i need that values by which i have sorted with in the report title. Can you please throw some light on this!!

Hi Arun,
Try this.
1, Set one dynamic parameter,
2, Drag and drop that parameter into your report title.
3, Pass the value(sort value) dynamically from your application,
4, Cheers..
Other wise Try with Dataset, create a dataset and fill thev alue into that.. Then set the data source from CR designer. and darg and drop that data column into the report.

How to create a Flex3 project with remote ColdFusion server?

I have a question related to Flex 3 and ColdFusion that it might be simple to answer but I have been struggling with it for a while.
How to create a Flex application using Flex Builder 3 that uses ColdFusion, but the ColdFusion server is not installed locally but in a remote server?
I need to create a Flex application to use with ColdFusion and although this is a simple procedure when we are creating the project in a computer where you have ColdFusion installed locally (as all books shows examples of it), but what if the ColdFusion server is installed in another machine in the network?
My current situation is the following:
-          I have Flex Builder 3 install in my PC at work and its workspace is in a folder in the network outside of my PC.
-          We have a server (ISWEB1) partition in two drives; C, where the ColdFusion 8 is installed and D where all the files the developers work with reside. The ColdFusion installation runs in a server where IIS is used as the web server.
-          I have the drive D on the server ISWEB1 mapped to one of my letter drives and can access it easily
-          The drive C on the Server can only be accessed remotely (or through the web to access the ColdFusion admin page) and is not exposed to the network as drive D is.
My problem is, I need to create a Flex 3 application that uses ColdFusion using remote object access service (CF Flash Remoting) but I wanted to point to the installation version on the server ISWEB1 and not to the one installed locally. The Configure ColdFusion Server screen in the Flex Builder asked me for the location of ColdFusion root folder, Web root, and root URL. There is no way I can point to the server (ISWEB1)where ColdFusion is installed as those fields seem to required a address that points to a local install or a mapping on that local server.
The work around that could be used is to use the ColdFusion developers edition I have installed locally and use during the creation of the project in Flex Builder, but then I would have to have all the same data sources, mappings, and CFCs in my the local server in order to test, which seems double work. To aggravate that when you try to test the application Flex writes the files to the local server and unless you have everything available locally it would not work properly. I am trying to avoid duplicating the work. Ideally I would like to test the Flex application on the server where the CF is installed and where the Flex Builder workspace is.

Sort of. I found this article below that helped me to connect to the remote CF server using MXML. It seems that you have to create a regular project in Flex with Aplication Server Type set to None and connect to CF using the endpoint attribute of the RemoteObject MXML tag or via AS.

However I found out after getting error using the AS3 code to use the endpoint property that
mx.rpc.remoting.RemoteObject does not support the "endpoint" property
whereas mx.rpc.remoting.mxml.RemoteObject does. See link below

So I had to change my AS3 code by adding a new channel to my RemoteObject using a code similar to the one on the link below (Note that this code uses PHP, when I instantiate myRemoteObject, I do so informing that the destination is "ColdFusion" [new RemoteObject("ColdFusion")], so no need to set destination as in the code on the link below

How to create an incremental key in a Matrialized View created from Union?

I am trying to create some sort of incremental key in a materialized view that is formed from several Select and Union statements.
Why? My materialized view has a composite inteligent key of 5 columns. So, when I want to find a particular records, I don't want to have to do a select statement with some many WHERE and AND clauses.
The ROWNUM I tried didn't work (as I thought) because my Materialized view is made out of several union and each select statement of the UNION generates a new set of incremental numbers.
I also tried creating a SEQUENCE (I understand the sequence number will keep growing each time I do a refresh ) but it doesn't look like I can create a SEQUENCE on Matrialized View.
Anyone has any suggestion as how do I create some kind of incremental number in a materilized view created from an Union.

It doesn't seem to make sense, as others mentioned in that thread, to try to add this sort of key to a materialized view. Since the key would change every time you refreshed the materialized view, I'm having difficulty understanding how this will simplify your life. Your code would still have to refer to all 5 columns of the composite key since that would be the only constant.

How to create a custom Hierarchy in IDT 4.0

Hi All.
I am trying to create a custom hierarchy objects in the Information Design tool, But I am not able to find it here as same sort like the universe designer in 3.1 or 4.0 . I have found the navigational path but I am not sure how I can use it as a hierarchical objects in my reports, Can anyone please suggest how to create a custom hierarchical dimension in IDT 4.0.

Custom Hierarchy are called navigation path in IDT. I will suggest to go through the navigation path tutorials below

Hierarchical objects are no different than any regular objects but they enable the drilling in drill mode in the report and you can create a cascading prompt on top of them..

How to create a Virtual provider in BI 7.0?

I need create a virtualprovider (with SCM source system), but I find the option 'Create Virtual Provider' in the context menu only when the infosource is 3.x
How can I do it in 7.x?

In BI7, just right click on any infoarea, and choose create 'virtual provider'. For direct access, you choose Virtual Provider with 'direct access'. There's an option to use the old R/3 infosource. What this means is that you can create an infosource with transfer rules and such, and when you create the virtual infoprovider, it will use the structure in the infosource automatically and the flow of data is automatically link R/3 with the transfer rules and the virtual infoprovider. Note that no update rules exist with this kind of setup.
In BI7 you have a more flexible approach in that you can create a transformation to configure the 'transfer logic' of your virtual infoprovideralong with start routine, end routine or any other transformation technique visible with using a transformation rule.
But using BI7 setup, you need to create a sort of 'pseudo' DTP, which doesn't actually do anything, meaning you do not 'execute' it to start a data transfer.
After all is done, you need to right click on the virtual infoprovider and choose 'Activate Direct Access'. If you use Infosource, go to the Infosource tab, and choose the infosource. If you're using BI7 setup, choose the DTP related to the transformation and save it.
a virtual infoprovider with direct access is really slow if you have a lot of records transmitting between the remote function calls.
