How to create Current Year Filter at Universe Level ?
Hi,
I want to create a Current Year, Next Year and Last Year filters at Universe Level.
Can anyone help me with this.
I am using Netezza database and not able to find the appropriate date function in Netezza to accomplish this.
Any suggestions ?

Hi,
You would somehow need to extract the Year part from the system date..
then
Current Year = Year
Next Year would be i.e Current Year + 1
Last Year would be i.e Current Year - 1
I guess this is the simple part... but you would need to find those functions on your RDBMS..

Create an object called Today as:
cast(convert(char(10),getdate(),23) as datetime)
Note that it will not parse because it does not reference a table. Don't associate it with a table just to get it parsing as you will then have that table in every query that uses the Today object, whether you want it or not!
It will work fine when you use it in your query. In your example, create a condition of Ship Date Less Than Or Equal To Today where Ship Date and Today are the names of the two objects. This will then translate into SQL as:
WHERE orders.ship_date <= cast(convert(char(10),getdate(),23) as datetime)
This will parse because the table orders is in the statement.

How can show current YEar Sales in one column and Last YEar Sales in the other column based on a user prompt for the Current YEar Column.
For Example is user enter 2010 for Year how can i show a Column for Sales-2010 and Sales 2009.

Then in WebI create two distinct queries in your query Pane. In the first one you could do this:
Query 1:
objects: Year, Sales ... etc.
filters: Year Equal to '1. Prompt Year'
Query 2:
objects: Year, Sales ... etc.
filters: New Object Last Year Equal to '1.Prompt Year'
Then in your report you can drag each object on their respective columns.
If you don't want to use two distinct queries, use one like this:
Query 1:
objects: Year, Sales ... etc.
filters: Year Equal to '1. Prompt Year'
Or
New Object Last Year Equal to '1.Prompt Year'

Then I create a cube with use compression off, and in rules sum for example.
After, I create a measure and I select Override the aggregation specification for the cube, in rules I put nonadditive and I would like to create aprogram to assign distinct values to each level of the dimension. For example, I put 1, 2 3, and 4 values, but at the end I would like to put count(distinct(values)).

Filter at universe level is not working
Hi all,
I am using a filter at Universe level to exclude a list of customers and a couple of customers within the date range.
This works ok for a list of customers, but customers in the date range are not excluded.
Here is my filter in Universe:
@Select(Order Items\Customer No) NOT IN ('10114', '10116', '10119', '10178', '11111', '11118', '11119', '11142', '11150', '11152')

1. You don't want the users that are in the first list
2. But you want the users whose date range is between 1/10/2011 and 1/15/2011
Is this what you want or you really dont want the users between that range?
Perhaps you should try this:

How to create @prompt filter at universe level for my Webi reports

I am using BO XI 3.1 SP3 with SAP BW 7.0.
I have created an open[big] query based on a multiprovider for my OLAP universe.
OBJECTIVE: to create LOV prompts for Calender year, for my webi reports, which takes 2010 as input then offsets the input year and then shows Gross sales for the prompt year [2010], 2009 & 2008.
ISSUE: if 2010 is selected in webi prompt filter, then it doesn't display any data for any other year, lets say gross sales for 2009.
ALTERNATIVE: i tried to create a prompt filter in the universe with this syntax,

I think you should just prompt for year and capture and use the selection at the webi report level.
say you have calendar year(convert it into numeric) prompt at webi level. say user selects 2010 capture it in a variable var1:userresponse('enter year'). then create a variABLE (var2) with formula :
if(isPromptAnswered('enter year')='yes';([year] where year inlist(var1;var1-1;var1-2);null)
build your report with var2 and gross income

How to create a year to date filter?
All,
I would like to create a date range filter on the opportunity close date column so that the report retrieves records with a close date between the beginning of the current calendar year and the current date.
I am having trouble using date/time functions to establish the first day of the current calendar year.

You could place a filter on the Fiscal Year column in the Date Dimension folder of your subject area to get Fiscal Year to Date (most of the time):
Date."Fiscal Year" = VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION.CURRENT_YEAR)
This would likely not work, however, if the current year is 2008 and you are already in Fiscal Year 2009.
To allow for this, your filters become much more complex. I will use Opportunity Close Date in my example.
First, we want to ensure that no data in the report is more than one year old...
TIMESTAMPDIFF(SQL_TSI_DAY, Opportunity."Close Date", CURRENT_DATE) < 366
With the next filter, we want to ensure that the data in the report is not from months outside of the fiscal year. You can do this with a CASE statement in a hidden column.

Assuming my code is correct, July 2007 - June 2008 evaluates as current fiscal year and July 2008+ evaluates as not current fiscal year.
There are bound to be other ways to accomplish this, but this is one method that should work.

How to create a optional filter condition in Universe
Dear All
I am using BI 4.1 ( .Unv ) , we need to add a optional condition in Universe. I tried different ways to do it, but unable to do it correctly.
In one of my approach, I created a report and put a optional prompt there then edited the SQL and copied that prompt condition and pasted that into a Universe condition. Then I used this filter into a report when i ran the report without selecting any value into the prompt it was throwing an error.
Please suggest if there is any way by which we can do this.
BO should have this functionality for better end user experience.

Yes we are still using .unv as the universe we have is created in 2008 and since then we been migrating this through different versions.
What I meant is a Filter which is created in the Universe and which has ability to act like a report level optional filter ..means if you select any value then it will fetch data for that selection else it will give data for all LOVs
Yes BO has optional prompt functionality only for report level filter .. I mean when you pull a dimension into filter panel and select its value equal to prompt and in prompt properties you check mark the Optional Prompt option.
The requirement is to create a Universe level filter which when used into a report then it should should have this optional prompt functionality. either users can run report with setting some value or without selecting anything.

The first part of this solution involves creating the report and the first group level:
Before creating the report, create a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet that contains a column called "date" with each day of the year in date format.
After identifying your data source and tables, create a new report.
Add the date table from the Excel spreadsheet to the report.
Insert a group based on the date field. In the dialog This section will be printed for, click For each month.
Select the Use customized group name based on a formula option and enter this formula (substituting the Excel table and field name for Sheet1_.date if yours is different.):
Monthname(Month({Sheet1_.date}))
Insert a new Page Header section.
Drag the group name field to the Page Header_a section.
Open the Section Expert, select the Group Header #1 section, and select Suppress.
In the Section Expert, click the Group Footer #1 section, and select New Page After. In its conditional formula button, enter this formula:

Drag the lower boundary of the header down until it is the size that you want the square for the calendar days to be.
Suppress the Report Header, Details, Page Footer, and Report Footer sections.
Right-click and format each of the summary fields. In the Number tab click Customize and select Suppress if Zero.
Draw a box over Page Header_b and extend this down to the bottom of the Group Header #2 section. Then draw vertical lines from the top of the box to the bottom to divide the days, and draw a horizontal line along the top of Group Header #2 to divide the weeks.
For both the box and the vertical lines, use the Format Editor to select Extend to Bottom of Section when Printing.
Position the seven summary fields from Group Header #2 where you would like them to be in the day boxes. In Page Header_b, arrange the column labels ('Sun', 'Mon', and so on) so that they are centered above each square.
The final section will guide you through the Subreport creation part of this solution. Create seven subreports, one for each day of the week. Begin with the subreport for Sunday:
Create a subreport called "Sun". Select the data source for the data that your calendar data will display.
Add the data field(s) to the Details section of the subreport that you want to appear in the calendar squares.
Suppress the remaining sections.
Place the subreport in the "Sunday" square of the Group Header #2 of the main report. Adjust its size to fit the square.
In the subreport, create a formula called {@WeekNumber} with the following syntax:

In the Select Expert click show formula and add this syntax:
Year({Sheet_1.date}) = 2007 and DayOfWeek({Sheet1_.date}) = 1
In this formula, 2007 is the year of your calendar and 1 is for Sunday.
Link the subreport to the main report using the {@Weeknumber} formula from each.
In the main report, right-click the subreport and click Format Subreport.
In the Common tab, enter this syntax into the conditional formula button next to the Suppress check box:
Maximum({@Sun},{@Weeknumber}) = 0
Repeat steps 1 to 8 for the other days of the week, ensuring that you substitute the correct values for the corresponding day of the week.

First i tired with for-loop. I initialized variable "i" to -2 (i=-2) I would get the year drop down list from 2003 but, by default 2003 would come.

How to extend current year accounting calendar?
Due to the business requirements, there is a need to change the accounting periods from Apr-Mar to Jul-Jun. The current FY13 is from Apr-12 to Mar-13. The new FY14 will be changed to Jul-13 to Jun-14. So the periods from Apr-12 to Jun-12 will be considered as FY13. This means FY13 will have 15 accounting periods instead of 12.
Read the document from 11i: Calendar Changes That Can Be Supported In General Ledger (GL) [ID 357269.1]. Two alternatives are suggested:
1. Define a new SOB with new account periods.
2. Update the current calendars.
However both approaches does not mentioned how to consider the extension of the no. of accounting periods in the current year. In GL, the no. of account period is controlled by period type. However, it does not allow to change the no. of period. So how can the current FY can be extended? May I know the way to do it?

Thanks for your reply. But the current E-Business Suite version is 11i, not on R12. There is no secondary ledger functionality. Also, only the current year will have 18 accounting periods. In the coming FY, it will keep to have 12 periods. So properly secondary ledger cannot help on this case.

The current year profit should automatically be transferring to your reserves whenver you have data for your P&L accounts.
The net effect of your income and expense accounts should be tranferred to your reserves account as per your script logic.

IPhoto Places, how to edit, or change
I have iPhoto 11, 9.4.3. I would like to change the name on pin for my home location in Places. Somehow, the pin for my home in Wisconsin got named for my place of birth in Ireland. I'm sure I did it somehow, but cannot seem to be able to change i
