How to create security character validation to avoid automated programs

Hi All,
I am developing a web page for creating user accounts. I would like to do the security character validation to avoid the misuse from automated programs.
This is what you may have seen on all popular web pages where you are asked to enter a scrambled set of characters into a text field before submitting your request.
Please provide any samples or direct me where I can get some help on this.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

Why look for samples when u can can use ur own logic and thinking ?
My approach ...
1) Create a lot of scambled images having alphabets like 'rhoit' , 'rohit' ..
File naming convention should be same as the text. Ex: rhoit.jpg, rohit.jpg ...
2) Add the images names into a table and then populate a HashMap / ArrayList containing the image names
3) Randomly pick some artibitrary element from the Arraylist and display the corresponding image in the create user accounts page.
3) Compare the image name with the inputed text value for a match. The expected value should be set in request parameter.
4) Handle the success/failure condition.
I hope that should work fine.

You're right about not being able to add styles, and I have not figured out how to modify a predefined character style, other than to Rename or Delete a predefined style. I have added this to my list of things lost.

I am trying to develop a small application in j2me which needs dynamic creation of a .class file. For this purpose I tried to create .java file through my j2me code, but i could not do that..I want to know whether a java file can be created on a mobile phone or not..

2.extract its class file...For +1+ ie to create a file (any file, no matter java or not) from j2me, device need to support File Connection specified in [jsr 75|http://www.jcp.org/en/jsr/detail?id=75]. If you're interested, learn the jsr API on how to create and manage needed file.
For +2+ described as extract its class file one needs to have java compiler (javac) on device. *) If you're interested, ask for more details at [Java Compiler forum|http://forums.sun.com/forum.jspa?forumID=7]. Also, if the class file is for CLDC then javac needs to support "JDK 1.3-compliant" compilation. To create CLDC classes on device, one also needs to have a preverifier tool. How to create a Menu for PeopleSoft HRMS application program ?

Hello. I am developing PeopleSoft HRMS application program for a client. I have created 10 components. But I don't understand how to create a Menu on the left handside for users to access the components. The Menu's structure is as follows:
Folder Root containing Folder1, Folder2.
Folder1 containing Folder1a, Folder1b.
Folder2 containing Folder2a, Folder2b.
Folder1a containing Component1, Component2.
Folder1b containing Component3, Component4.
Folder2a containing Component5, Component6, Component7.
Folder2b containing Component8, Component9, Component10.
The Folder Root should appear in the Menu on the left handside. A user can reach Compoent1 by clicking
Folder Root -> Folder1->Folder1a ->Component1.
Can any folks tell me how to create such a hiearachical Menu ? Thanks.

Hello. Thanks a lot for replying to me. By using PeopleTools->Portal->Structure and Content Reference, I have created the hierachical folder groups:
FolderRoot containing Folder1 and Folder2
Folder1 -> Folder1a -> the link to a Component
Folder1 -> Folder1b -> the link to a Component
Folder2 -> Folder2a -> the link to a Component
The above hierachical folder groups have appeared on the left handside under "Menu" and work correctly.
But when click on "FolderRoot", "Folder1" and "Folder2" don't appear under "FolderRoot" on the right handside of the screen. When click on "Folder1", "Folder1a" and "Folder1b" don't appear under "Folder1" on the right handside of the screen.
I have checked PeopleTools ->Portal -> Structure and Content Reference's folder administration, there are no places to type in information to have children folders appear under its parent folder on the right handside of the screen.
My question is :
How to make children folders appear under its parent folder on the right handside of the screen ?

This message applies to a problem with change requests. When creating a message, it's a workbench request that system has to create. Apparently, when you try to create a message, it tries to catch 'tramp' on existing CR which is assigned to a different client in your system. You should try assigning a new CR for this change; you could ask your BASIS team to help you on this.

How to create secure EJB web service in Oc4J using JDeveloper?

We are going to develop a EJB web service running in OC4J using JDeveloper 10.1.3.3.
By using the JDeveloper feature, we can simply create the web service by using the "Web Service Endpoint Interface" in the session bean.
However, unlike the web service created from Java class, I can't find any option to change the security setting of this web service. We tried adding annotation like @DenyAll for testing, but there has no effect and related method can still be called without WS-Security header.
Now, we can only change the security setting via the web console after deployment (select the web service, then enable security in administration page, and then edit security configuration to change the inbound policies for authentication). It works in our local machine, but it may not work in the production environment as we cannot touch the em console.
May I know if there has any way to include the security setting inside the project?

In order to implement the SOAP header, you would have to :
(1) Define SOAP header in the wsdl of the service.
(2) Add a new soap binding in the wsdl, which contains soap header and soap body.
I think, this should get you going..

How to create superscript character in auto-correct ?

Auto correct has built-in conversions with super / subscript, such as the fractions it offers.
I need to create a custom auto-correct, where I can get the scientific notation for 'degrees' celcius.
I need the 'o' to display superscript, just before the "C".
All formatting menus seem disabled while Im in this dialog box. Any suggestions ?

I do not think you should use superscripts. Just use the character °. In the autocorrect Symbol and text substitution table replace "oc" with "˚C".

How to create security for flat files under a Webserver Directory?

Hello,
I have an Application where I need to show a Flat Excel File (with open/save option) from a URL from Portal.
This works fine.
But a user can view this file without login to Portal.
Though we restricted the directory, file access is uncontrolled.
What should we do?

I mean, how to enforce Login to Portal on flat files in the Web Server Directory(if the users are accessing directly from URL), they should be accessible as long as they logged into Oracle Portal. But right now, they can access by typing the URL for this flat file directly into browser.

Enter your selection criteria. & click on save button to save your your selection criteria as a variant.
Now go to tcode SM36 to shedule your program with saved variant.

there are two ways of creating a top include at your situation ,
1) Insert an include <Prog name >TOP in your mpool program and cut n paste your declarations there .. check if this works ...
2)else .. create another m pool program in SE80 , while creating a pop up will ask for with TOP include ... check mark that and then proceed ..
anything of these two will work ...

I decided this didn't sound too tough so I played around with it a little. Basically because I'd never tried executing external processes out of java before, so I wanted to see how it was done.
Just change whatever you like in the jobs ArrayList and call writeJobs.
If you call writeJobs without putting anything in the list first you'll wipe out all of your crontab entries.
