How to create Webi Reports with SAP BW Objects
Hi,
I have no knowledge on creating webi reports with SAP BW Objects like (InfoCube, DSO, MultiProvider, Infoview, MasterData Infoobject).
As per my understanding Webi reports can be developed with universe which is created on BEx Queries or OLAP BAPI interface, unfortunately i don't have BEx App installed. So, i have to create OLAP universe in this case.
Here my question is can we create universe with all the available BW objects like InfoCube, DSO, MultiProvider, Infoview, MasterData Infoobject.
Please, Can anyone suggest a solution
Thanks,
Siva
Edited by: siva@chinni on Apr 25, 2010 4:45 PMHi,
Yes we can create WebI on the top of SAP Objects - InfoCube, DSO, Characteristics etc...
But we have to keep in mind that for WebI we must create Universe.
When we create universe we make direct connection with SAP Objects but we get less functionality - such Calculated Key Figures, Restricted Key Figures, formulas etc. Now you have to achieve all these missing components at Universe Level and at WebI level.
If you are creating your universe on the top of DSO and InfoObject then make sure they set for reporting.
There are some online documentation which tells that what functionality you can achieve.
Check the following document to have a bird's eye view.

There is another document in PPT which I could not find online. It is very helpful document. It is:

How to create a report of users in ucm about their roles and permission
Hi All ,
I need to create a report and it should contain all the users in ucm as well as their roles and permissions. Basically the report would be for the admin who can see all the users in a single report and can know about the roles and access of each and every users.
How to create such report ?? I have tried from web layuot editor but the default report template i.e stdUserReport in user datasource does not contain more than three fields..Is there any method to get such kind of report???
Please suggest!!There was an example component to demonstrate this kind of function. Under Stellent in version 7.5
I do not know if they hand it out anymore but it is not on the standard samples page for Oracle. You may want to open a Support SR to ask for it. It should still be around in their servers if they can get permission to hand it out as a sample again.

How to create a report in Form line Style and can display Image field?
Hi,
In Report builder 10g, I would like to create a Report with Form Line Style and this report included a Image field.
I can choose this Style only when Select Report type is Paper Layout. Because, If I choose Create both Web & Paper Layout or Create Web Layout only then in the next Style tab 03 option Form, Form letter and Mailing Label be Disabled.
But in Paper Layout, my report can not display Image field.
I tried with Web layout and all the other Styles (Except 03 mentioned be Disabled) then all Styles are displayed Imager field OK.
How to create a report in Form line Style and can display Image field?
I was change File Format property of my Image field from text to Image already in Property Inspector. But report only showed MM for my Image field.
Thanks & regards,
BACH

bachnpHere you go..Just follow these steps blindly and you are done.
1) Create a year prompt with presentation variable as pv_year
2) Create a report say Mid report with year column selected 3 times
- Put a filter of pv_year presentation variable on first year column with a default value say @{pv_year}{2008}
- Rename the second time column say YEAR+1 and change the fx to CAST(TIME_DIM."YEAR" AS INT)+1
- Rename the second time column say YEAR-1 and change the fx to CAST(TIME_DIM."YEAR" AS INT)-1
Now when you will run Mid Report, this will give you a records with value as 2008 2009 2007
3) Create your main report with criteria as Year and Measure col
- Change the fx for year column as CAST(TIME_DIM."YEAR" AS INT)
- Now put a filter on year column with Filter based on results of another request and select these:
Relationship = greater than or equal to any
Saved Request = Browse Mid Report
Use values in Column = YEAR-1
- Again,put a filter on year column with Filter based on results of another request and select these:
Relationship = less than or equal to any
Saved Request = Browse Mid Report (incase it doesn't allow you to select then select any other request first and then select Mid Report)
Use values in Column = YEAR+1
This will select Year > = 2007 AND Year < = 2009. Hence the results will be for year 2007,2008,2009
This will 100% work...

How to create custom reports.
Hi ,
Could you please let us know how to create custom reports which are data based and not analytics. Which is the best method , is it to devlop reports in sites or integrate with OBIEE reports. could you please let us know the best practices for this approach.
Thank you,
Sashank P.Hi Jiri ,
Thanks a lot for your support. Below are my answers for the request:
1) what data you want to report on? Is it data from a database? file system? Web service outputs?
Ans : The Data would be mostly from Database only.
2) what is the overall purpose of your solution?
Ans: The overall purpose of this solution is to generate reports with sorting capability and should be able to export in different format documents.
3) what is your architecture?
Ans :
4) why Sites?
Ans: The customers login into our site and can be able to view the different reports and the present site is already a webcenter site. and the reporting capability is an enhancement .
Can you please provide the right approach here. We have an option of using ADF or even we can use Webcenter Portals. So which would be the best approach to go. And can you please guide us any approach or examples for integrating Webcenter Portals and Sites and even integrating ADf with Sites.
Thank you,

Failed to fill the prompts when creating Webi Report
Hi,
I am having some difficulties when I was trying to creating Webi reports. It shows error when I tried to fill in the prompts before the query runs. The report data comes from the SAP Business Warehouse. So far it is my understanding for the query flow:
Step 1
SAP Business Warehouse <-- Query A (BW Query) <--
Step 2
BO Universe <-- Query B (By drag & drop) <-- Application(e.g. Webi, QaaWS)
When I run the Query A (using 'Analyzer' in 'Business Explorer') to extract data from BW, the query appears 7 optional parameters for filtering. After I filled some of the fields, the query runs fine -> Step 1 OK.
When I want to do the same thing in a BO approach by building query (i.e. Query B) to draw data from the universe (which points to the Query A in BW) using different applications(e.g. QaaWS, Webi via InfoViewApp, Java Webservice SDK: QueryService & ReportEngine, etc), the application will display 7 optional prompts (i.e. those referring to those appeared in Query A) before the query executes. However, when I tried to fill those prompts, the application appears some fill prompts error and no query job is submitted to the BW -> Step 2 Fails.
When I skipped to fill those optional prompts in building the Query B, the query job can be submitted and the query result is returned.
Before the error occurs, I have been working on building similar Webi report and everything goes fine. I feel so strange that why the error appears so suddenly and I would like to ask how to avoid it.
Many Thanks,
GaryHi Adil,
I am using BOXIR3 and a screenshot is attached below:
[http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3200/2948600340_4f1330d283_o.jpg]
I have built the query in InfoView by drag & drop and after I click the 'Run Query' (the circled area), it is expected I will be asked to fill in some optional prompts (from BW query). Instead, an error shown about 2 minutes after clicking the button,.

Hi Team
How to creat Web Templet and what purpose we were using ,, please suggest me asap
regards
trupti.Hi,
Using the BEx Web Application Designer, you can create a BEx Web application (an HTML page with BI-specific content) easily.
Procedure
1. Creating a Web Template
The Web template is the starting point for creating a Web application. The Web template is an XHTML document that is used to define the structure of a Web application. It contains placeholders for Web items, data providers, and commands. A Web template becomes a Web application when the data is displayed in the Web browser.
During the design process, you change the Web template by embedding placeholders for Web items and data providers. You can keep track of these changes in the XHTML view.
To create a new Web template, you have the following options:
○ In the menu of the Web Application Designer, choose Web Template ® New. A dialog box appears. Choose Blank Web Template.
○ Choose Create New Blank Web Template in the upper area to the right in the initial Web Application Designer view.
○ In the Web Application Designer tool bar, choose with the quick info text New.
2. Setting the data binding/selection of the data provider
The data for your Web items is provided by data providers that you create in the Web Application Designer. You can assign a data provider to multiple Web items. The data provider concept makes it possible to change the data source of a Web item easily. If a particular data provider is assigned to more than one Web item, any changes made affect all the assigned Web items. By means of navigation (by changing the drilldown), the Web item always displays the current drilldown data.
A data provider is a dynamic object that returns current data for one or more Web items at runtime. You define the start view of the data provider by selecting a query or a query view. For more information about data providers, see Working with Data Providers.
There are several ways to create data providers:
a. Using the Data Provider pushbutton in the Web Items screen area
i. Select whether you want to create a data provider of type Filter or type Query View, and drag the corresponding line into the lower data provider section of the Web template screen area. The Maintain Data Provider dialog box appears.
ii. Assign a name to the data provider and make the remaining settings.
In the dropdown box beneath the name field, you can also select or change the data provider type.
b. Using the New Data Provider icon in the lower data provider section of the Web Template screen area
i. Double-click to choose New Data Provider. The Maintain Data Provider dialog box appears.
ii. Proceed as described under a. ii.
c. Using the General tab page in the Properties screen area
You can only use this option if you have already inserted a Web item into your Web template.
i. In the header of the properties screen area, select the Web item for which you want to create a data provider.
ii. On the General tab page, choose New Data Provider. The Maintain Data Provider dialog box appears. Proceed as described under a. ii.
The data provider is assigned to the selected Web item. You can also create more than one data provider, as described under c. The data providers are listed in the dropdown box under Assigning Data Providers. This enables you to assign a different data provider to the selected Web item.
The New Data Provider dialog box appears under data provider . You can modify or change the settings for the data provider here.
When you have created a data provider, it is assigned to the inserted Web item. Assigning depends on the order of the data providers in the inner structure of the Web template. See also 4.a.
3. Adding a Web item
The Web items in the Web Items screen area are used as templates. By dragging a Web item into your Web template, you create an actual version of the Web item; this is called an object. The Web item has a name and certain other default parameters that you can change as required (see also 4.).
You see the changes in the XHTML view. A Web item tag for the Web item and a data provider tag for the data provider (assuming you have created a data provider) were integrated into the XHTML as placeholders. Change the name of the Web item and assign a data provider to it. In the XHTML view, you can see that your settings have been written to the Web item tag. The layout you choose is also applied in the XHTML.
a. Drag a Web item from one of the Web item groupings Standard, Advanced, or Miscellaneous in the Web Items screen area to the Web template by using drag and drop. The Web item appears in the Web template.
Underneath the selection area for Web items and data provider maintenance, you see the help area, which provides explanations for the Web items and data providers. To display the texts for a Web item, select the Web item by double-clicking with the secondary mouse button. To hide the texts, proceed in the same way. When you hide the display of texts and select a Web item by clicking it, a quick info is displayed for the Web item.
b. If you want to rename the inserted Web item, proceed as follows:
In the Settings area of the screen, choose the Rename Web Item button to the right of the dropdown box in which the added Web items are listed. Name the Web item by overwriting the predefined text for Name in the Properties screen area next to the dropdown box where the added Web items are listed.
4. Specifying the properties of the Web item
a. In the Properties screen area, choose the General tab page to make or change the assignment of a data provider for the corresponding Web item. See also 2.
b. Choose the Web Item Parameters tab page to set the parameters for the selected Web item.
You can also set the parameters for the Chart Web item using the Edit Chart dialog box. Choose Edit in the context menu of the Chart Web item or Edit Chart in the Internal Display parameter grouping of the Chart Web item. For more information, see Editing Charts.
5. Adding additional Web items
To insert additional Web items, repeat steps 3 and 4.
● When you insert additional Web items using Insert ® Web Item, pay attention to where you position the cursor in your Web template. The cursor position determines where the new Web item is inserted. See also Designing the Layout of Web Templates. When you insert Web items using drag and drop, the position of the cursor is irrelevant.
● Make sure that you set the data binding and any Web-item-specific parameter settings for the correct Web item. To make settings for a Web item, select the Web item in the layout view. In the header of the Properties window, the system displays the Web item for which you can change the settings. As an alternative to selecting the individual Web items, you can use the dropdown box to toggle between the attributes of individual Web items.
6. Designing a Web template layout
In the Web Application Designer, you create your Web template in the same way you do in various XHTML editors. See also Designing the Layout of Web Templates.
7. Changing the Web template properties
a. To change the default properties of the Web template, select the Web template from the dropdown box in the Properties screen area.
b. Choose the Web Template Parameters tab page, where you can change the parameter settings for the Web template.
For more information, see Web Template Properties.
8. Saving and executing the Web template
You execute the Web template in the Web browser (portal). The Web template becomes a Web application, which means the template is saved on the Application Server for ABAP and a URL is generated for this Web application.
At runtime (triggered by calling the URL), the BI tags are replaced by corresponding HTML with the information determined by the Web item and data provider settings. When this is done, the Web template on the Application Server for ABAP is accessed. Therefore, you must save your Web template before you execute it.
a. To save your Web template, in the menu bar of the Web Application Designer, choose Web Template ® Save.
b. Choose Web Template ® Execute to view your Web application in the browser (portal).
You must save the Web template before executing it in the Web browser. Therefore, when you execute the template, you are asked to save it if you have not already done so.
● To assign a Web template to a role, choose Web Template ® Publish ® In Role. See also Role Maintenance.
● To copy the URL of a Web template to the clipboard, choose Web Template ® Publish ® Copy URL to Clipboard. The Web template, however, must already be saved.
● To broadcast a Web template, choose Web Template ® Publish ® BEx Broadcaster. For more information, see Precalculating and Broadcasting Queries, Query Views, Web Templates, and Reports.
Result
Your Web application is started and displayed in the portal, which in turn runs in a Web browser.
If you want to print your Web application, choose Print in the context menu for the executed Web application.

How to create a report based on a DataSet programatically
I'm working on a CR 2008 Add-in.
Usage of this add-in is: Let the user choose from a list of predefined datasets, and create a totally empty report with this dataset attached to is. So the user can create a report based on this dataset.
I have a dataset in memory, and want to create a new report in cr2008.
The new report is a blank report (with no connection information).
If I set the ReportDocument.SetDataSource(Dataset dataSet) property, I get the error:
The report has no tables.
So I must programmatically define the table definition in my blank report.
I found the following article: https://boc.sdn.sap.com/node/869, and came up with something like this:
internal class NewReportWorker : Worker
public NewReportWorker(string reportFileName)
: base(reportFileName)
public override void Process()
DatabaseController databaseController = ClientDoc.DatabaseController;
Table table = new Table();
string tabelName = "Table140";
table.Name = tabelName;
table.Alias = tabelName;
table.QualifiedName = tabelName;
table.Description = tabelName;
var fields = new Fields();
var dbField = new DBField();
var fieldName = "ID";
dbField.Description = fieldName;
dbField.HeadingText = fieldName;
dbField.Name = fieldName;
dbField.Type = CrFieldValueTypeEnum.crFieldValueTypeInt64sField;
fields.Add(dbField);
dbField = new DBField();
fieldName = "IDLEGITIMATIEBEWIJS";
dbField.Description = fieldName;
dbField.HeadingText = fieldName;
dbField.Name = fieldName;
dbField.Type = CrFieldValueTypeEnum.crFieldValueTypeInt64sField;
fields.Add(dbField);
// More code for more tables to add.
table.DataFields = fields;
//CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataDefModel.ConnectionInfo info =
// new CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataDefModel.ConnectionInfo();
//info.Attributes.Add("Databse DLL", "xxx.dll");
//table.ConnectionInfo = info;
// Here an error occurs.
databaseController.AddTable(table, null);
ReportDoc.SetDataSource( [MyFilledDataSet] );
//object path = @"d:\logfiles\";
//ClientDoc.SaveAs("test.rpt", ref path, 0);
The object ClientDoc referes to a ISCDReportClientDocument in a base class:
internal abstract class Worker
private ReportDocument _ReportDoc;
private ISCDReportClientDocument _ClientDoc;
private string _ReportFileName;
public Worker(string reportFileName)
_ReportFileName = reportFileName;
_ReportDoc = new ReportDocument();
// Load the report from file path passed by the designer.
_ReportDoc.Load(reportFileName);
// Create a RAS Document through In-Proc RAS through the RPTDoc.
_ClientDoc = _ReportDoc.ReportClientDocument;
public string ReportFileName
get
return _ReportFileName;
public ReportDocument ReportDoc
get
return _ReportDoc;
public ISCDReportClientDocument ClientDoc
get
return _ClientDoc;
But I get an "Unspecified error" on the line databaseController.AddTable(table, null);
What am i doing wrong? Or is there another way to create a new report based on a DataSet in C# code?Hi,

How to create a report based on selected item from Select list?
Hi,
I have created a tables_LOV based on:
select table_name d, table_name r from user_tab_cols
where column_name like '%_type%'
Then I created a page item ListOfTables, Display as select list and pointing to tables_LOV.
I run the page, and i can select the table i want from the drop down list.
How to create a report based on the selected item? (ex: select * from selected_table)
many thanks in advance
SalahHi Salah,
Allright, have a look at this page: http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=vincentdeelen:collection_report
I think that simulates what you're trying to accomplish. I've set up the simplest method I could think of.
The report is based on an apex collection. If you are not familiar with that, you should study the documentation: APEX_COLLECTION
To recreate my example you should:
1) create an (interactive) report on your collection
SELECT *
FROM APEX_collections
WHERE collection_name = 'MY_COLLECTION'
2) create a page_item select list for the tables you want to display (in my case this is called "P38_TABLES" )
3) create a dynamic action that triggers on change of your select list page_item. The dynamic action must be a PL/SQL procedure perfoming the following code:
declare
l_query varchar2(4000);
begin
l_query := 'select * from '||:P38_TABLES;
if apex_collection.collection_exists
( p_collection_name => 'MY_COLLECTION' )
then
apex_collection.delete_collection
( p_collection_name => 'MY_COLLECTION' );
end if;
apex_collection.create_collection_from_query
( p_collection_name => 'MY_COLLECTION'
, p_query => l_query
end;
Make sure you add your page_item to the "Page Items to Submit" section.
4) Add an extra true action that does a refresh of the report region.
Here are two pictures describing the da:

How to create a report in EM from scratch level ?
Hi,
Can anybody help me on this ?
The report I want to create in EM is about where the user selects a target from a drop down and it shows the CPU utilization or memory Utilization for that respective target. Is it possible to create such kind of ? If Yes, How to create the report ?
Thanks in advance.Are you sure you want to create a report for this info?
As CPU and MEM utilization changes every second, what would be the use of a report?
I assume you are aware of the fact that CPU and MEM utilization is included for instance in the Host Homepage and can also be included in Group Pages and Dashboards.

Rob
