How to decrease the width of left column in the "2 column layout"?

Hi all,
I create two webdynpro based iViews in the EP, then I create a page use the "2 column layout(Narrow:Wide)".I put one iview in the left column and another iview in the right column. When I preview my page, I found the left column still too wide. So how to decrease the width of my page's left column?

Hi Deyang,
You have to create your own layout:
- Navigate to System Administration->Support
- Choose Portal Runtime -> Browse Deployment
- Navigate under pcd or under temp, and download the layouts par (com.sap.portal.layouts.default.par.bak if I recall correctly)
- Import that par as a project to Developer Studio
- Make your changes (create a new jsp acording to the existing examples, and update the portalapp.xml accordingly)
- Export to par (in a different name!) and deploy
- In the portal content: new from par -> Layout (don't forget to mark it as a template).
- Your new layout template will now be available when you create new pages.

I am wondering how can I change the width of left navigation pane, as the group name is so long that user can't read it now, is there any way to increase the width of the pane so it will dispaly the full group name?

Out of the box there is no way to change the size of the left hand pane. However if you are customizing Workspace you should be able to change the width of that pane. Also if the name of the group is too long to display in the pane you can hover over the group (or category or process name) and the tooltip should display the full name of the group.

Should the TC be left on all the time?

Ok - this may be a daft question - but should the TC be left on all the time or is it ok to switch it off at the mains each time I shut down my iMac?

I've tried leaving my TC on all the time but it seems to be constantly active (the green light flickers) even when there are no computers attached to it. I happened to come downstairs this morning at around 3am and the TC was still humnming away to itself seemingly unaware that nothing was connected to it! I unplugged it. In addition to getting rid of the annoying noise it will save some electricity!!

The width of the Line Type in a table is decided by table width itself. For example 20cm is the width of the table,then you can divide the table width into number of columns you want. If you want only 2 columns then,
next to the line type..one column width would be 10 and the other would be 10...so If you want to decrease the width of a column in the line type..then you would have to adjust that in the other one.
For example, If 10 and 10 cm each is what you have in your line type, then in the first column you can reduce the width to 5 cm and then increase the other column width to 15cm, in that way the total width of the line type will be equal to that of the table width.
Also, it is not necessary that the line type width should be equal to table width. It can be less also.
You can adjust the width at details tab..here you will have the table line type details like this:
Line Type 1. 2.
LTYPE1% 10.00cm 10.00 cm "here you can reduce the table line width.

How do I disconnect text in left margin from the main text box

I’ve used a template that has a graphic and text in a wide margin on the left side of the page. The margin is set at 2.75, where a a single column text box resides, containing much more descriptive text. It seems the material inside the left margin is not accessible. When I click on it text in the large text box highlights. What is connecting these two boxes and how can I disconnect them? I want to use the left side of the document to contain, among other things, hypertext links to other websites. At first I thought it might be a matter of layers, sending objects to the back or front, perhaps grouping or ungrouping but that hasn’t helped.
Anyone got any thoughts on what might be creating this connection?

Ah, that did it. Kind of strange place to hid that command don’t you think? I still don’t know what will happen when I convert it to a .doc. While I much prefer creating this stuff in Pages if the creation doesn’t survive the conversion and others can’t open the links it doesn’t do me much good. If it doesn’t survive the conversion to Word I’ll let you know.

How do I delete the search feature from the bookmarks section (left side of the window when open)? Just the search feature in bookmarks.

I don't know if it's always been there, but there is a search box now at the top of my Bookmarks toolbar that opens on the left side of my window. When the Bookmarks toolbar is open the first thing is Bookmarks and the X to close bookmarks. Just below that is a search box. I don't have a lot of bookmarks and don't want the search box. How do I get rid of the search box?

Sounds that you have the bookmarks sidebar open.
*Toggle the Bookmarks sidebar on/off via "View > Sidebar > Bookmarks" or Ctrl+B (Command+B on Mac)
*Toggle the History sidebar on/off via "View > Sidebar > History" or Ctrl+H (Command+H on Mac)
You can find toolbar buttons to open the bookmarks (star) and the history (clock) in the sidebar in the toolbar palette and drag them on a toolbar.<br />
There are two bookmark buttons with a star in the Customize window.<br />
One star button has a drop marker that open a Bookmark menu (you may not see the drop marker in the Customize window).<br />
The other star button without the drop marker opens the bookmarks in the sidebar.

How can I reduce the width between search results and the preview fly-out?

Hello, I am using a custom masterpage that reduces the overall width of page content but I am seeing an issue with my enterprise search site. The search results look fine but there is a large horizontal gap between the results and document preview window
(when mousing over a word/excel/powerpoint result). This means that the preview fly-out is hardly visible unless the user scrolls horizontally to the right. Can someone tell me how to set a reduced width between the results web part and the preview window?

I think the issue is with the Callout orientation, have you customized the page and if so then you can customize the callout.
check "beakOrientation" and you can set values like topBottom, leftRight as per your requirement.

How do I fix it so that the content moves WITH the frame as it is moved left or right. Works O.K. in the up or down direction. If the frame has been moved to the right, leaving the content fixed, the "buttons" do not work until the frame is manually moved back to the left side of the screen. Hmmm, could you try disabling graphics hardware acceleration? Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You usually need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).

On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"

Hi,
if you are using a grid layout the witdht of the bars is not really fixed.
When you adjust the screen size, the charts and the bars in each chart rezise according to the size of your screen.
But that is one of the advantages using grids.
Otherwise the size of the chart and the bars is fixed but as far as I know there is no option to manually adjust the size/width of each bar.

I am currently using "Visible bounds" (java script)to add 1 inch to the width and to the Length of my Art board, but when i make a clipping mask it actually reads the hidden content from the Clipping mask and makes conforms my art board to that particular shape. Am using Adobe illustrator cs6 Here is My Code:

All i Want is to add 1 inch to my width and length and this does it but if i have a clipping mask it will pick up the bounding box i guess? and it will conform it to the shape... any help please... Try my code and you will see that it does add 1 inch but now make you artboard lest say 12" x 12" and make a shape bigger than the art board and you will see how it adds 1 inch to the art board based on that shape... now if you make a clipping mask to fit that shape in the 12" x 12" art board you will still get 1 inch bigger than the shape thats being clipped ...

yes, visible bounds is reading the non-visible masked objects too.
you're going to have to do it the hard way, loop through all your objects to get your bounds manually, and while you're at it, test for clipping masks and use the masking path instead.

If you mean that it won't boot up, then assuming that the battery isn't empty (it can take about 15 minutes of charging before it will respond), then have you tried a soft-reset to see if that gets it to boot up ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, after which the Apple logo will hopefully appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Does anybody know how to make a selection in Photoshop Elements 13 without having the width / height box drag from the cursor?

I've recently upgraded from Photoshop Elements 10 to Photoshop Elements 13 and the selection tool dragging this little box behind it whenever I make a selection or move a selection is highly irritating. I tried to google for how to not have it shown and I read all the descriptions in the manual about selections, I found nothing.
The following image is what I mean. I want to get rid of the box that says W: 98 px H: 69 px, is there any way to do that? I know I could get used to it but if there is any way to not have it, I would love to know about it.

I have encountered this same problem.
The only fix, and an unstable one at that, is to alternately pan the screen and then drag the text box such that as it moves to scroll off the screen it remains on the page.
The reason this becomes unstable is that at higher zoom levels selecting this text box may also cause it to disappear completely from the page. At this point one has to zoom out find it and attempt to repeat this frustrating maneuver.
In my experience this effect extends to changing pages and alternating levels of zoom.

My Mac pro has started to get very hot when I am using on my knee. It gets hot on the upper left and only when I am viewing a film. Seems ok when writting docs etc.
